Not as much suffering as the poor bastard who authorizes the budget when he gets the invoice from this little venture, especially after it gets the direct approval of COMPACFLT. That is if her credit card isn't a black one, since I think she's going to max it.

On the other hand, while the Hard Rock Café's employees may have gone through the fight of their lives trying to cook up a feast worthy of a fleet, they'll at least be paid handsomely for it.

Ahah, but the joke is on them! They get paid an hourly wage and maybe tips, which means all of the huge bill goes straight past them to corporate!

Truly, being kitchen staff is suffering.

Except...wait staff gets tips. I can't recall ever hearing that the cook staff (the people doing most of the work here and making the food) get a portion of tips.
I didn't witness personally and don't know about US... But quite often tips are pooled and shared. And unless difference in pay is very big with kitchen staff too or else...

Frisco's in for a good time. I think she got quite lucky to have been summoned into the care of Washington, Gale, and their little Murder Brigade. And yes, Gale does have good taste. Hard Rock has some good stuff. I'm also thinking Gale is on her way to becoming more of a protagonist at this rate than she realizes.

Lots of little odds and end here that I rather liked. Bits on Gale's past, the DD's swashbuckling, Wash finally potentially getting a clue. Nice touch on Emperor Norton. I may have required the Google-fu, but that was pretty funny. :D

But I think my favorite part of this chapter was the beginning, when Frisco is worrying about how she'll be viewed by her country, and then coming to realize that every single eye is gazing on in hope. That part really got to me. It was very well done.

A very nice chapter. Short, but very, very nice.

Frisco, welcome to the crew. :)

Everyone is no later than WWII so far and that's probably going to be the primary age. Not to say there won't be WWI and pre-WWI.
