Aleph: Actually, heh. Little River drilled her silversmiths up to better dicepools a while back, didn't she? Yeah. Yeah, she put a Major action into pushing them up to Ability+Style 7, last Earth. Does that mean the Shining Foam silversmithy (and any associated child-smithies, furthering Little River's plan of keeping her mastered-off students in her orbit that she talked to Ba-le about) is doing well for itself and breaking even?
EarthScorpion: Hmm. So who does Little River have in charge of the management of it? Is it just hired mortals, or anything else?
Aleph: Uh, so... I think that actually might be Little Bird? She... yeah, she's a professional mediator, broker and the wife of a golden sail, she's been empowered by a pact-tattoo to learn spirit charms, and she's kind of Little River's assistant for the "Little River management" stuff that doesn't require her direct attention but which she owns. So, like, she doesn't run Little River's office or act as her personal aide like Rounen does, but the administration of Shining Foam and the gradual repairs to Silver Lotus are things that Little Bird is handling.
EarthScorpion: OK, roll me 7d10 + 2 for how well she manages, since she still has mostly mortal dicepools, but she has demon charm she learned mostly from - lol - dragon aides and hungry ones.
Aleph: lawl
Aleph: /r 7d10s7c10 +2 #LittleBirdManagement
Bot: Aleph rolled 6 <8; 7; 2; 8; 8; 6; 5> #LittleBirdManagement
Aleph: Respectably!
EarthScorpion: And yes, with that number of successes, she has actually done very very well and beaten out the mostly mortal run rival shops
Aleph: mwaa haa~
EarthScorpion: With the newly trained artisans and her handling things, Little River's stuff is becoming a hallmark for good quality
Aleph: ^_^
Aleph: Hmm. Can I say that the... let me just check quickly... yeah, the north wing of Silver Lotus - the one that had subsidence and cracks and sagging walls. Vali put a couple of actions into repairing the foundations and subsidence there, so can I have had Little Bird put work crews on the above-ground repairs over the past year or so to bring that wing back into a usable state?
Aleph: (Keris just gradually getting her nice big manor liveable, hee)
EarthScorpion: Uh, so that's basically mundane, but she can't put the same attention into it as she's overseeing the forge, so she delegated it to her cousin (who works in the same line)...
EarthScorpion: /r 6d10s7c10 #MundaneRepairWorkOverseeing
Bot: EarthScorpion rolled 5 <10; 4; 1; 7; 10; 2> #MundaneRepairWorkOverseeing
EarthScorpion: Oh yeah no so her cousin has done amazingly
Aleph: yesss
EarthScorpion: Hui Cha Pink Sunrise turns out to be nearly as capable as her cousin, but just hasn't had much of a chance before because she's always been at the lower end and was never really trusted with big projects before.
Aleph: oh Keris~
Aleph: More of that "taking something cheap and unused and turning it into something valuable" behaviour.
Aleph: Heh. Ba-le might mention that, then, since she's well aware of that trait of Little River and has been keeping an eye on how she's been fixing up that old manor she got cheap and throwing a few parties there in the now-repaired wings. : 3
EarthScorpion: /r 10d10s7c10+1 #GullsOnStage
Bot: EarthScorpion rolled 8 <5; 10; 4; 10; 9; 10; 6; 1; 4; 2> # GullsOnStage
Aleph: ... wow. Damn, mah gulls. U good at this~
EarthScorpion: I guess you get to describe what exactly Cinnamon has them doing, since you're better at that kind of thing than me and they rolled a ludicrous number of successes - the kind you might expect from a social-focussed DB entertainer who's really trying
Aleph: hee~
Aleph: Hmm. Yeah, so it's, heh, the kind of thing where there's a lot of rrrrelatively accurate historical plot if you have an interest in history, or you can just tune out and enjoy the pretty dances and songs. : P
Aleph: (It's also carefully calibrated to not offend a) the Realm, b) the remains of the BMS or c) the descendants of the people they conquered such as the Raraan Ge, by casting them all as brave and noble heroes of a bygone age.)
Aleph: And I can tap that series in future if need be as something that's Jade Carnation produced, but with "high-level mortal" dicepools, so it's not raw brilliance like the Scarlet Surrender Cycle.
Aleph: Hee. "Rather than one unified group, the Raraan Ge are instead a culture who can trace their roots back one of the lesser Dragonblooded empires who were destroyed by the Blue Monkey Shogunate. When their masters fell, the lesser lords and sworn warriors kept to their own lands and paid dues to the Blue Monkey Shogunate. As the Realm encircled that rival, the Raraan Ge drifted away from their control, never formally declaring independence but no longer paying their taxes or providing men to the bloody wars against the Third Scarlet."
Aleph: They're invested in the early plays for their ancestors' fierce wars against the rising BMS, and in the later ones for how their houses broke free as the BMS crumbled against the Realm. : P
