My personal guess? Make every Loop as embarrassing for Mai as possible until she figures out a way to break them. Start by directing a stage play of her and Zuko's overly dramatic sob story from childhood until the last day of the loop, inventing an ever more vomit inducingly sappy ending with each loop.

Joining the Gaang would require both Azula convincing the Gaang to accept their most driven and sadistic foe to join their ranks for... whatever reason, and for Azula to actually contemplate even pretending to defy her father while within fireball range. She ain't there yet.
As for having an informed opinion of Aang, I'm 95% sure that Azula has ALWAYS, in both speech and private thought, referred to him as "the Avatar", never as "Aang". He is the ever-constant foe of the Fire Nation, and while she may have managed to defeat him in some pre-quest loops, she will never dismiss him as "not a threat".
