[X] You. Princess Azula the Blue. Heir apparent to the Dragon Throne. Conqueror of Ba Sing Se. Half Roku—half Sozin. Where you are, so is the Fire Nation in all its rapacious glory. Yours is the blood and bone of empire. All the things you should have ever wanted to be. But sometimes you think of fire dancing under the Moon; of three girls and the horizon and a flight across half the world. Is that wrong? Are you wrong to dream—to think, so briefly, of being something more?

[X] Your Father. In every life, they turn from him to save Zuko. Ty Lee has questioned him again and again. Mai has said you're 'weird' about him. But he's still—he's still your Father. The only one in the world who loved you from the start. Why is that supposed to be wrong?

Its either this or Azula herself. Let's cut the the massive overhanging influence over her that undermines her progress and 'wrong-think.' When she has managed to progress who her father is then she can go inwards herself. Unsure if it could go this way but if she shatters herself while still having extremely toxic influences on herself then she may backtrack her progress.

This is an enormous, towering wall in her mind that is barely beginning to show cracks while her self-perception is already crumbling from repeated blows. We can't bring the whole thing down for rebuilding without breaking this part, and we are now finally in a good position to.

Azula here, I think, is a lot more defensive about daddy dearest. It's a very fragile belief and the single most direct obstacle to transformation, but in that sense, one she is actively fighting against changing, precisely because it is so weak. I think eroding things around it instead of hitting it directly is probably better atm in that they're a lot less likely to trigger her worst defenses.

Edit: also it is very funny to have the obvious correct choice for fire lord brought up and have everyone go "no, that's dumb."

I voted for you because we're incredibly close with (2/3) Nothing Wrong With That Child. That path is inherently about Azula's perception of herself, and I'd rather focus on that over her relationship with her father. Which while inexorably linked to every other aspect of her trauma, and in fact because of it, is a boss fight in and of itself.

Doing some introspection to try and figure herself out is going to be needed at some point. Addressing her parental issues will also be needed at some point. The question is, is getting her head straightened out some first necessary to endure confronting her father, or is talking to her dad needed to make any real progress at all possible with her psychology? Huh.

I'm a simple man, I'm afraid. I love Iroh like every basic bitch does. I read an Azula protag and immediately become an unreasonable partisan in the other direction. Every time she insults her uncle I'm like "Yeah, fuck that guy!"

Character development? Who's she? I've decided Azula's allowed to be a hater. 💕💕

Bout time to show Azula the truth she ignores

I'm surprised nobodies voting Zuko after that chapter. I mean I get the intention of the vote and why people are voting the way they are but… just look at this shit:

"But I think… I think that's why I can't let you do it. Because you talk about being the Fire Lord the same way you talk about being a monster. And you've always tried so hard to stop anyone from seeing it that, if I hadn't met you in that forest, it might have taken me another three years to realise—but there's a little bit of you that's like a little bit of me, isn't there?"

Zuko's looking at you the way Iroh was looking at you when he was crying and you hate it like you hate him like you hate Zuko

(no you don't.)

"And that little bit doesn't want to be a monster. It's only that it doesn't know there's any other way to be. But Uncle showed me. And Song showed me. And Lee showed me. And Jin showed me. And Katara showed me. And Aang showed me. And so did everyone else. They're why I want to be the Fire Lord. So I can show the Fire Nation just like they showed me."

His cheeks pull up into a brief smile. It's lower on one side. His scar doesn't move as easily.

"I just didn't figure out until now that I need to show you too."

God fucking damn I love Zuko.

Still I suppose Azula was in the end the conclusion of the (fucking awesome) speech. So taking into account the tally…
