Anderson Quest: Killing Vampires and Werewolves and Leprechauns (Hellsing/Bloodborne)

"Oh, my beloved teacher. That would be his dream, wouldn't it? A Maria who will not leave him, will not judge him."

Oh my, well cheer up Gehrman, she can't be judging you that much....

"Ask Gehrman the price of his Dream."

Never mind. Maria performed a visceral attack. It is super effective against Gehrman. 99999 Damage

However, the price you say?

An arm and a leg, I say :V

[X] "Unfortunately lass something is forcing the old man to keep his yap shut. I don't whatever the hell it is, will let him answer just like it keeps him from answering some questions I've attempted to guilt him into asking."
-[X] "Also I fully plan on burying those mistakes myself, if only because those guys out there made me remember that had I not already killed the idiots responsible I'd be hosting an inquisition for experimenting on children and innocents."
--[X] "By the way, since ye know Gehrman do you also happen to know old Eileen and Djura?"

I think I have something that can help as a start at least.

[X] "Woman, I am a man of three things: God, virtue, and disobeying my masters when it suits me! And if I just let you sit here I'd be none of the three!"
-[X] "I don't know what you're trying to protect me from but I can tell you I can kill whatever it is."
--[X] "If you're going to tell me that whatever it is is 'beyond my understanding,' I met someone like that called Amygdala, and I killed him and used his body for spare parts."
---[X] "There was also that Ebrietas lass, but I didn't kill her. She's much nicer than the squid fuck I chopped up."
----[X] "Right, knew I forgot something! She's helping us get in and out of this crazy place. Like I said, a very nice...whatever she is."

I'm trying to think of a reasonable speech to get her to come with us, but I keep running into walls...

As far as I can recall there's not really much we can say on that score...

I mean, her main motivation is the punishment of those who committed the atrocity that was the murder of Kos, the village that worshiped her, and the orphaning of her offspring.

If what I can recall is correct, Kos had an Ebretas like relationship with the village, they were on cordial terms, at least cordial for an old one and a bunch of humans.

The church, being bastards as we all well know and I have pointed out numerous times before, decided that they wanted the knowledge, power, and other assorted good and plenty for themselves.

So instead of asking for it, trading for it, or simply going there and talking to folks, they killed everyone, killed Kos, and took what they wanted from her corpse and the village for study.

That's what the previous area was for by the way, the area where they conducted their Tuckeresque style experiments.*

The beings there are either researchers who delved way to fucking deep ala Bergenwerth, experimental subjects ala the healing churches usual Umbrella style guide to scientific research, or blood drunk hunters looking for something else to kill.

She stays where she is so they can't progress further into the nightmare and return to the village.

If it's to guard the tomb and resting place for those damned souls, to keep them from Kos remains that reside in the nightmare, or just to keep them away from the Orphan I can't really say.**

All I know is they aren't getting there, and by extension we aren't getting there, unless she lets us, or we kill her.

The best outcome we can probably hope for here is just for her to let us pass.

*Honestly the more I think about it, that muderous fuckwit would blend right in with the church. I mean what doesn't say progress like turning your wife and child into abominations against god and man that live in perpetual suffering and anguish?

**It should also be noted that it appears she died after the incident with the village, and it appears it might have been suicide, considering her throat was cut. Of further support of this theory was the fact that she was so disgusted she threw away her prized swords into the well of the village, unable to stomach the sight of them. Take from that what you will...

Honestly we might just have to let this sidequest lie for now. We have more pressing matters and Maria's not going anywhere. We can come back when we have more information/better plans.

This is not a vote. This is my semi-rambling attempt to make up a speech to get her to get off her ass and accept her second chance to make things better. I need sleep, though, so...take it, finish in, improve it, draw inspiration from it, use it to make something BETTER. Just don't VOTE for it, it isn't even complete.

[] Already did all that lass. Maybe not exactly in that order, but yeah, it's done. My time's over, yours ain't done yet.
-[] Mistakes best left buried, eh...like Ebrietas? The adorable girl who got me here, who helped a hell o' a lot of people in fixing things?
-[] That's the thing about mistakes. The former you can never fix if you don't actually try and deal with them. Can you honestly say you're the type of person who can look back at a mistake you made in life, had a chance to make up for it, let it pass by, and be happy?
-[] It's what we do AFTER the mistakes that defines us. If we're willing to do better afterwards, to TRY to fix things afterwards...it's not gonna fix everything. But it's a damn sight better than letting it be someone else's problem. Burying mistakes for others to dig up later ain't helping the world, it's just being selfish.
-[] I knew a creature whose kill count, his personal kill count, is in the seven digits at LEAST. I tried to kill him at least five times-or was it four? Six? Sixty? Guy was weird like that, damn soul-filled dick-and when he killed me with his bare hands and cried over my flaking corpse...I knew that I admired him more than almost anyone in my life. He chose to be a monster against monsters. I chose to be a monster of man. In the end, we monsters respected each other more than we ever imagined we would. And I died happily.
-[] Ebrietas could have reigned as a god. Could have acted like the child she was, and happily accepted the worship of those who revered her blood. She could have chosen to stay buried down there in the deeps. Instead she chose to take her second chance and try to make things better. And a lot of people happier, in a pretty shit city.
-[] You chose to be a Hunter at least partially because you wanted to make things better. You did horrible things because you thought it was for the greater good. I don't know the specifics, but I can tell it's something along those lines. And now you're here, burying the mistakes instead of

Worth noting, IIRC, Kos was dead when they found her. She washed up on shore as a corpse and the studying went from there.
Who? I've never heard of this
Shou Tucker of Fullmetal Alchemist fame. Fused his wife with a dog so he could pass his exam, did the same to his daughter a few years later so he could pass another one.

Who? I've never heard of this

A character named Tucker from Full metal alchemist and Full metal alchemist brotherhood.

He was a state alchemist who specialized in making chimeras, using his alchemy to meld living creatures together into new and fantastic forms.

Simply put the process was still in it's experimental stages and the merging of such different physiology tended to cause the creatures extreme amounts of pain and mental anguish.

He tried to make talking chimeras, that is creatures that had the human ability for reason and speech, by using his wife and daughter as test subjects.

His wife was reduced to a mad ball of flesh that we as the audience never saw clearly, but heard scream madly.

His daughter was merged with her beloved pet dog, was left in agony, and had the ability to talk.

She asked to play with the heroes when they found her.

She was about 4 years old at the time if I remember right.

And the funny thing is?

The country already had chimeras many times more advanced than what Tucker was capable of doing.

No, that's wrong. You're thinking of the human transmutation the Elrics did. The mother could talk. She only said, "I want to die."

Ah, so I did.

Though to be fair it's been a few years since I've seen that part of either anime.

In hindsight tough that just makes it even worse, a screaming ball of flesh at least has the numbness of madness to hide behind, she was aware and conscious the entire time.

Worst still, she probably saw what Tucker did to their daughter.

No.

Shao Tucker was registered as a State Alchemist for his "groundbreaking" achievement of creating a chimera capable of speech. Said chimera only spoke one phrase, "I want to die", and refused to eat or drink, expiring soon after.

Four years later, Tucker was faced with a State Alchemist exam, wherein if he failed to produce something suitably impressive he would have his State Alchemist license revoked and lose his cushy government funding.
So, he fused his four year-old daughter and the family dog, Alexander, into a second speech-capable chimera.

He was entirely unapologetic when confronted.

I'm thinking that in exchange for his Dream and his Doll, Gehrman killed Kos/the Orphan, and wiped out the fishing hamlet. Maria threw away the Rakuyo in disgust at helping him, and then abandoned him to watch over the patients in the real research hall, which became her purgatory in the Nightmare, while Gehrman, distraught over Maria ditching him, used a Third of an Umbilical Cord to get his Dream and Doll, before finding out that the Doll was in no way like Maria herself, beyond her appearance.

On the one hand, Gehrman made a deal with a devil in exchange for getting a living . On the other, fuck the fish giants, kill them ALL.

Really, really, REALLY hoping to see Anderson tear those assholes a new one. If he can get past Maria. Preferably without some gratuitous violence.

It could be true for the quest but not for Bloodborne I think....

Also we should mention that we are not hunters
