I just recently learned that overly long and complicated vote made writing it complicated. Simple is best, I say!

Thinking now that we should break the sword instead of using it or giving it (even temporarily) to someone without Helena's Nail to protect them.

Since there aren't and decent bushes to burn in the vicinity, I guess He chose to just go with the "burning" part.
And there's also the "parting the red sea/bloody slurry on the ground" thing.

Or the burning thing was the thing that was Ludwig's "guiding light" and Anderson needs no light other than that of the Lord's.

Yeah, seems like Ludwig's One True Mentor and Guiding Moonlight tried making contact with Anderson.

Unfortunately for it, the good Paladin isn't just patronized by a stronger deity. Right before showing up in this universe he shoved one of the most powerful artifacts in this or any other world into his heart and became an eldritch abomination that puts Oedon, Ebrietas, Mergo and his Wet Nurse to shame all at once. There's only room for One horrifying tentacle monster in Anderson's heart.

Human Anderson in this quest is capable of taking on every boss in the game individually without actually noticeably increasing in strength since showing up, albeit not necessarily easily. At the same level of strength, he was more or less an equal of Alucard's most heavily restrained state. Monster Of God Anderson took on Full Power Alucard, who was essentially toying with normal!Anderson for the sake of a good fight and had already crippled him in the opening seconds of said fight, and came pretty close to winning in a single hit, essentially setting his soul on fire along the way. With The Nail, Anderson was on a much higher level than anything in this setting.

Okay, so MoG Anderson beats Ebrietas and MWN (and Mergo since it's a literal infant), but I'm still not seeing how you figure him putting Oedon to shame.
