Yeah, this. Moon Presence is not to be taken lightly.

Furthermore, there's the little problem that the Moon Presence is quite possibly holding the Hunter's Dream together--and since we don't want to become a baby Great One, we probably don't want to kill Moon Presence for now. We still have more stuff to do in Yharnam, at least, plus the whole Hunter's Nightmare (or whatever it's called, the DLC areas).

Oh, and if the Moon Presence wanted to fight us, it'd have Gherman fight us first. Which would suck, for a number of reasons.

But having an appreciation for just how screwed up Ghermans circumstances actually are gives Anderson motivation to look for clues or ask for advice on how to fix it

And wouldn't you know it, Anderson has someone who can give clues about that kind of thing already handy

To be honest I'm not really sure I can see a way Anderson can fight the Moon Presence at all. He can't win as he is and he won't grow because Blood Echoes aren't a thing he can do, beyond converting it to the doctrines of the Good Book or getting everyone together and fighting it in a big climactic final battle.

And by learning of its existence Anderson can begin taking steps to address that

Did we now? You get the Eye of the Blood Drunk Hunter in the Dream after you gank Amelia, not from any individual. IIRC.

Given how it makes Gherman react to any questions even tangentially approaching the topic of the Moon Presence's existence, us explicitly figuring out the Moon Presence's existence right in front of its gaze could very well cause it to come down and try to kill us (or get Gherman to do it for it).

Honestly, losing the Amy Express may not bar us from the Nightmare. There are other Amygdalae, all we really need is the Eye.

Gherman's best apprentice. She is currently in Kos's nightmare real, guarding the way to it. Presumably because she cant kill it herself.

She and the Hunter fight because she seems to think he's there to learn the secrets Kos has and not to just kill it.

I'm hoping that by asking if there is anything we can do Gherman may ask us to find out what happened to Maria.

To be honest, its to much of a leap. Anderson is more likely to assume that Gherman has met a great one on night with a full moon. I mean right now he doesn't know the dreams are caused by the Great Ones, and has no reason to assume there is something suspicious about the moon.

They are trying to gank the Moon Presence. Ignoring the fact that MP is the thing holding the hunter's dream, and therefore Gherman and Hope, together.
