Abnormality Acquisition Report: Subject O-01-111

Description:
The 111th abnormality documented. Its acquisition was unusual, appearing in the middle of the Central Command department after an incident involving an interaction between several abnormalities and an E.G.O. weapon which resulted in a minor spatial distortion. The incident is described in detail in the supplementary documentation.

The abnormality is poorly understood at the moment, due to just being acquired. Although initially confined to a vacant containment in the Extraction department, overnight it has been relocated to the Training department due to interference from the abnormality O-01-45 ("Plague Doctor"). Subject has yet to regain consciousness.

Physically, the subject…

[] Appears to be a young woman with a pair of corvid-like wings, resembling those of a raven, sprouting out of her back. An eye-like gem of unknown function is embedded in her chest. Attached to her arm is a hexagonal rod that has been determined to be highly radioactive and full of limitless amounts of energy. Due to potential destruction concerns, the abnormality has been classified as ALEPH until further notice.

[] Seems to be an android built in the shape of a teenage girl. A compartment containing several sword-like weapons connected to the main unit by wires has been discovered on the android's back. Due to the potential harm these weapons may cause, we are classifying this abnormality as HE until its temperament can be ascertained.

[] Appears to be a blue haired, teenage girl in a white cape. A blue gem filled with dots of some kind of unknown, black substance was found on her person. Analysis of her essence reveals eerily similar energy readings to three WAW-class abnormalities on file known as "Magical Girls", one of which is currently housed at this facility. Due to this, she is being classified as WAW until further notice.

[] Is a blonde girl aged roughly 15 years. A yellow gem filled with dots of some kind of unknown, black substance was found attached to a clip on her head. Subject was in serious medical condition upon arrival, and several deep lacerations and puncture wounds were present on her neck as if something had attempted to decapitate her. Analysis of her essence after stabilizing her reveals eerily similar energy readings to three WAW-class abnormalities on file known as "Magical Girls", one of which is currently housed at this facility. Due to this, she is being classified as WAW until further notice.

Recommendations:

For the initial work session, the following work has been proposed:
[] Instinct - Satisfy physiological needs. This includes, but is not limited to, activities such as feeding, bathing, and medical examinations.

[] Insight - Optimize the abnormality's environment. This includes tasks such as cleaning the room, providing approved amenities, and habitat recreation if necessary.

[] Attachment - Agent should spend the session communicating and interviewing the abnormality to satisfy social interaction needs.

[] Repression - Suppress the abnormality's urges, desires, emotions, and instincts to keep them in control. Resort to violence if necessary.

The following document outlines the timeline of events involving incident I-O0388-03:

<13:34> - Abnormality O-02-56 (Punishing Bird) breached containment.
<--:--> - At an as of yet undetermined point of time within the next seven minutes, O-03-88 (Dimensional Refraction Variant) escapes due to an inexperienced agent's work. Resulting in the casualties of several nonessential personnel as it began to roam the facility.
<13:41> - O-02-40 (Big Bird) breached containment in response to the casualties caused by O-03-88.
<13:42> - O-02-62 (Judgement Bird) breached containment, seemingly in response to the other two birds breaching. At this exact moment an ALEPH-class dimensional portal of unknown purpose was opened in the Central Command department. All three birds began converging on it.
<13:43> - Efforts to locate and suppress O-03-88 were called off as suppression was ordered on the portal by the manager.
<13:45> - It is assumed O-03-88 entered the vicinity of the portal within the last two minutes.
<13:48> - During suppression, agent [REDACTED] fired upon the portal with the E.G.O. extracted from abnormality F-01-69 (Der Freischütz).
<13:48> - The powerful bullet from the E.G.O. as well as O-03-88 intersected the portal at the exact same moment. Eyewitnesses report that the portal crackled with blue energy as space began to distort across the entire room. Those standing close to the portal received severe lacerations and migraines, though no death or panic among the agents was reported.
<13:49> - The security feed cuts out. Witnesses report an extremely bright flash of light accompanied by a deafening crackle.
<13:51> - The security cameras came back online. In place of the portal was an unidentified individual, who was unresponsive. The individual was promptly treated as a new abnormality and standard quarantine protocol was enacted.
<13:53> - O-02-56 returned to its containment upon destruction of the portal. Suppression was ordered on the remaining two birds. O-03-88 was reported to have returned to containment on its own as well, albeit in a significantly weakened state. Full recovery of the abnormality is expected within a few days.

Total casualties: 31 Clerks, 0 Agents.

//The vote will end in 24 hours (extensions possible in the event of a tie), after which the quest will switch to interactive mode.

Game Mechanics and Information
Game Rules and Mechanics (READ ME if you're new to this quest!)

//Welcome to An Unusual Abnormality - Redux. This quest is a reboot of the previous iteration, and will share the same mechanics as its predecessor.

//The quest uses a different format from the usual vote based one prevalent on this site. Once initial selections have been made, the game will switch to an interactive format.

//The format is simple to understand: You, the players, collectively have full control over the protagonist's actions and dialogue. Prefix any command or dialogue with ">" and it will be interpreted and parsed. My only requirements are that you explicitly prefix commands with '>' to differentiate them from OOC. Additionally, dialogue should explicitly be placed in quotation marks in order to differentiate it from actions and in-character thoughts, as otherwise it could be misinterpreted as such.
>Jump.
(Will be interpreted as the character literally jumping.)

>"Jump."
(Will be interpreted as your character saying "Jump")

//With how this system operates, votes after the initial character selection will be rather rare, usually coming up when it affects the changing of a gameplay mechanic or as a tiebreaker for situations where mutually exclusive actions or excessive countering of each other's commands occurs for three consecutive parses involving the same actions.

//Stats will not be given major attention in this quest, as I would like to focus more on how the story evolves through the collective actions of the players affecting the quest world. As such the only stats you will have will be combat related, and there are only three of them:

//Melee: Affects your character's offensive rolls in melee combat.
//Ranged: Affects your character's offensive rolls in ranged combat.
//Defensive: Governs how well your character will tank or dodge a hit.

//As for combat itself, like the predecessor it will be rather simple and straightforward: Actions will be decided by opposing d100 rolls. Positive or negative modifiers will be granted to those rolls depending on your stats, the context of your actions, story events, and/or the strength of your foe.

//You will be expected to act at least somewhat in-character with your character choice. I won't be overly strict with this unless you attempt an action that is completely out of character. Should such an event occur, I will usually acknowledge the action in the parse but do nothing with it, or, in the event that is not possible, I will politely ask for it to be changed if nobody else catches it.

//Omakes are welcome and encouraged. I may also provide rewards if any become canonized.
Glossary of Relevant Lobotomy Corporation Terms

Here is a list of terms to help those not familiar with Lobotomy Corporation who want a part in this quest to ease themselves in, as well as provide a handy reference.

Abnormality - Various anomalies found in the world that cannot be explained by conventional means or modern day science, while also giving off irregular amounts of power. The Lobotomy Corporation contains and studies these entities for the purpose of energy extraction.

Ordeals - Mysterious entities similar to Abnormalities that invade the facility throughout the day. They are impossible to contain, so the only option is to suppress them. They are classified based on difficulty level and the entities that form their ranks.

Enkephalin - A substance extracted from Abnormalities that can be refined into energy, and is the thing that the Lobotomy Corporation gathers. In its raw form, it also acts as a potent psychoactive drug.

Risk Level - A rating assigned to Abnormalities and the equipment extracted from them. With Abnormalities this indicates how dangerous they are, while with equipment it tells how powerful it is.
--ZAYIN - Usually harmless in most circumstances, in some cases they are potentially beneficial to employees or the facility.
--TETH - Capable of causing severe harm to employees without protection.
--HE - Capable of easily killing more than a few employees and/or causing minor disruption to the facility as a whole.
--WAW - Capable of damaging or threatening a large portion of the facility if not properly contained.
--ALEPH - Capable of causing massive calamities and widespread destruction if not suppressed. Such as city-wide destruction, world ending raptures, etc.

E.G.O. - Stands for Extermination of Geometrical Organ. These are weapons and armor created from the essence of abnormalities.

Sephirah (Plural: Sefirot) - AIs in control of each department within the facility. There is one for each department (With the exception of Central Command, which has two.)

Damage Type - Damage in Lobotomy Corporation is classified as either Red (Physical), White (Psychological), Black (Both at once), or Pale (Direct damage to the soul)

Agent - Employees of the corporation who interact directly with abnormalities. They are also the primary suppression force when an abnormality escapes.

Clerks - The resident red-shirt army. They generally have poor fighting skill and tend to die en-masse. They handle all the jobs the agents don't, such as office work.

Character Data

Name: Utsuho Reiuji

>Radiation Blast
>>The unsafe, potentially lethal version of your nonspell shots. Likely to cause severe burns, radiation damage, major injury, and death.

>Atomic Fire - "Nuclear Fusion"
>>A pulse of nuclear reaction that fires mini-suns in all directions around you, followed by a spiral pattern of energy.

>Explosion Sign - "Giga Flare"
>>Fires a torrent of radioactive explosions in the direction you're facing that shrink as they get farther away from you.

>Blazing Star - "Ten Evil Stars"
>>Causes two opposing circles of five miniature suns to orbit you as you unleash a torrent of radial bursts that spiral outwards. Forces you to remain stationary.

>"Hell's Tokamak"
>>Create a pair of miniature stars on opposite ends of an area that release pulses of energy towards each other while you hide within one of them.

>"Uncontainable Nuclear Reaction Dive"
>>Propels you back and forth over a small area four times, damaging anything that you or the energy surrounding you comes in contact with. You can't easily turn while in the middle of a charge.

>"Solar Flare"
>>A denser, bigger version of Giga Flare focused more on raw damage output than beauty. Might be considered illegal if this was Gensokyo considering there's a whole "Spellcard must be dodgeable" clause.

>Geothermal - "Nuclear Blaze Geyser"

Day 1.0
>...

>You are Utsuho Reiuji, though your friends call you Okuu.

>You are a Hell Raven who lives in the Palace of the Earth Spirits, a part of Former Hell that's located in the caves beneath Gensokyo. You, along with your best friend, a kasha by the name of Rin Kaenbyou (Though she prefers to go by Orin), are among the many pets of the mistress of the Palace of the Earth Spirits - A satori by the name of Satori Komeiji. Satori-sama also has a little sister, Koishi, though you don't see her around much these days...

>Your job, at least before you gained your current level of power, was to maintain the fires of Blazing Hell, while Orin's was to keep the evil spirits in line as well as provide you with fresh corpses to fuel those fires. Of course, that all changed when a mysterious voice (Which you now know was the snake goddess lady from the mountain, whose name started with a K you think...) whispered to you one day and told you to eat a piece of Yatagarasu. Ever since then you've had the power of nuclear energy at your fingertips! You even got a sweet arm cannon out of it, too... Well, to be very technical it's a divine control rod capable of creating controlled bursts of plasma and radiation that function as projectiles, but details, details...

>Of course, you did go a little crazy with your newfound power to begin with... But that's a bit of a long story. Besides, it worked out in the end and you're a lot better now! In fact, Blazing Hell is now hotter than ever thanks to the fusion reactor that sits right below it! You don't completely own it, though. There was a deal struck with the mountain goddess and everything so they could draw power from it and all, but you still play a very important role in keeping the reactor stable.

>People also tend to call you a bit of a birdbrain. You don't think it could be entirely true... Since because you know so much about nuclear physics and are in charge of maintaining an energy source that could explode violently if everything goes wrong, you can't be that dumb, right?

>Anyway, today you were doing some routine maintenance on the reactor when you were suddenly engulfed in a bright light. Your last thoughts were full of confusion and concern as you felt some kind of "ripping" sensation around yourself before you blacked out.

>...

>You awaken to the sight of a metal ceiling. The cold, hard sensation on your back seems to indicate that you're lying on the floor.

>Sitting up and taking a moment to stretch your wings, feeling their joints pop a bit as you do so, you realize you're in some kind of small, metal room with a very thick looking door at one end. As you look around you notice that there is no furniture in here whatsoever, and in the corner by the ceiling is some kind of strange device with a glass lens and a blinking red light, seemingly pointed towards you.

>What will you do?
>_

//(Prefix a command with '>' and it will be parsed.)

Day 1.1
>Stare Closely at the device. Very Closely. Like this.
>You fly up next to the device and put your face extremely close to the lens, trying all the angles you can think of, aside from above, since there isn't really isn't much room to position yourself that way. Plus flying upside down is hard...

> Squawk at the blinking red light. It clearly wants your attention.
>You then proceed to make squawking noises at it in an attempt to establish a line of communication with the thing. For a few moments nothing seems to happen before a loud buzzer startles you and causes you to fall to the ground with a thud.

>As you wonder whether or not your squawking made the thing angry, you hear a mechanical hiss and the sound of something moving behind you.
>_

Day 1.2
>"Hi! Do you know what happened to the Fusion Reactor? I was working on it but then there was a big riiip and I woke up here. "
>You turn to see a woman with short, red hair, standing in front of the thick door, which is now open.
>She is wearing a black coat with a poofy frill around the neck and shoulders and a few white bandages wrapped around it here and there. Across her back is a large sword of some kind, also wrapped in bandages.
>The most peculiar thing about her, though, is that she has bandages around her eyes. Can she even see like that?

>You greet her and ask your question.

>"I don't know anything about a fusion reactor." the woman frowns as the door shuts behind her, "All we know is that you suddenly appeared in the center of the facility after an incident."

>Another mechanical hiss sounds out as a panel on the wall near her moves, revealing a pile of dark sheets of some kind nestled inside an alcove. The woman moves to pick one up.

Day 1.3
//Edit: Noticed powergoat's the moment after I replied. Since it's the exact same text as Cador's I did not see a need to edit it in after the fact, as it has already been parsed, so take this as an acknowledgement that I did see your post, powergoat.

>"Facility? Wait, what's that?" Take a closer look at the sheets.
>Inspect the dark sheet the woman picked up.
>"Lobotomy Corporation Facility X-394. It's where we are right now." she answers as you step closer to inspect the sheet in her hands.
>It appears to be a thick sheet of something. You can't tell much about what it is exactly since it seems to be coated in some kind of rubberlike material. Some kind of black strip runs along the edges of the sheet.
>She quickly takes a step away from you when she seems to notice how close you are.

>"Do you know where this facility is?"
>"Underground." she says rather bluntly.

>Ask her about her get up, her actions and what is this location.
>Try to read what the paper says.
>You ask.
>"I already told you where we are. As for my 'getup', as you put it, this is specialized protective gear for use against abnormalities, especially ones like you." she replies as she places the side of the sheet with the black strips against the wall, "As for what I'm doing, I'm simply putting up some temporary radiation shielding in this room. We detected an unnerving amount of radioactivity in that device on your arm, so it felt like the best option for optimizing your environment until we learn more about you... You are free to offer suggestions about your ideal environment as well, and we'll see what we can do the next time this kind of work comes up."

>What paper? You didn't see any paper.

Day 1.4
Quick question but should we have Nuclear Burb give out detailed information on Gensokyo and what information would she be aware of?
//To be fair she would not know much considering she both lives in the underground and is a birdbrain. She does know about the spellcard laws and other common knowledge things, though.
//However, she wouldn't know about Gaps. Or, if she's seen one, she wouldn't know what it was called. I don't recall there being a direct interaction between her and Yukari happening in canon that would grant her that knowledge (Yukari was technically providing Reimu support in SA but she wasn't there physically.) unless it happened in one of the mangas or something. (If it did then I wouldn't know as I haven't read the mangas)
--------------------------------
>Maybe make the background have the fire and brimstone theme would be nice as it reminds me of home and some food and a small bonfire would be great.
>The fire and brimstone won't be necessary but could we get some furniture like a bed? Youkai use furniture just the same as humans.
>You think about what your ideal habitat would be like. Deciding that while fire and brimstone would be nice some basic necessities would be best at a bare minimum.

>"I just... appeared? Was there like a Gap or something? What happened?"
>You ask what happened, briefly wondering why a space in or between two objects would be relevant.
>"Nobody knows for sure other than it involved a portal, a rather dangerous weapon, and a mobile spatial distortion..." she answers as she finishes applying the sheet to the wall and moves to pick up the next one.

>"Maybe heating up the room some more if you can't get me furniture?".
>"I'll pass that along."
>_

Day 1.5
> "So what are you doing?"
>"I just told you. I am putting up some temporary radiation shielding in this room."

> "By the way sorry for not introduce myself I am Utsuho Reiuji, what is your name?"
>She hesitates for a moment.
>"...Alyssa."

> "Also how long is your task going to take and for how long periods of time?"
>"Do I need to do anything for you task or you just mark on those papers with me in the room?"
>You still don't see any paper.
>"You can just stay right there and keep quiet. This will take as long as it has to." Alyssa replies as she places the next sheet on the wall.

>"So... how long do you think I'll be here for?".
>"Ms Satori might wonder where I went."
>"I can't say."
>_

Day 1.6
> "You don't have to worry about radiation sickness, I know how to control my third leg now so that doesn't happen."
> Hold up arm cannon while saying this.
> "If I didn't, you wouldn't have been able to take more than a few steps before collapsing dead from the gamma radiation."
>"That's.... good to know, I suppose..." she doesn't visually react to you lifting up your third leg.

>Do make some additional effort to not irradiate everything around you anyway.
>Regardless, you slightly turn down your third leg's power just in case.

> Take a closer look at the panels being put up.
> "I don't think they'd be much help anyway."
>You take a few steps closer. Alyssa tenses up when she hears your footsteps approaching and half-reaches for her sword as if on instinct before stopping herself.
>They're a thick sheet of some unknown material coated in rubber. You think the black strips keeping them on the wall are some kind of strong magnet.
>"Regardless, I'm supposed to put them up. Orders are orders. If they prove to be unnecessary, we'll take them down later."

> "Is possible for you to get a clock here so I have some way to tell the time here?"
>"I'll pass that along as well," she replies as she reaches for the next sheet, feeling along the wall for the edge of the previous one before continuing.

> " So is this normal? For people like me suddenly appear in this place, has it happen before?"

> "Is possible for your people to help me return home and would you?"
>"Not really. Most abnormality acquisitions are from outside of the facility or transfers from another branch. With the exception of one that came here on his own... I can't really get into the details right now, I'm already pushing it enough by talking to you more than I'm supposed to."
>She notably does not answer your second question.
>_

Day 1.7
> "Very well then, thank you very much for answering my questions Alyssa."
>"You're welcome, I suppose..."

>Let the girl finish her work in peace. Consider what would happen to your reactor in your absence. Consider if you can build a nuclear reactor with a box of scraps.
>You allow the girl to finish her work. You find difficulty in keeping still after a while since it gets boring to watch rather quickly... To keep yourself occupied, you consider whether or not you could build a miniature reactor with some scrap metal.
>It would honestly depend on the scrap. If it's too weak of a metal the heat generated by fusion would just melt it. You could attempt a cold fusion reactor, but that would require an extremely regulated environment and would be much harder to maintain than a natural fusion reaction. If you had access to a radioactive heavy element like uranium you could attempt a fission reactor instead, but again that would really depend on the scrap metal you have available to you, plus it would likely irradiate the room...

>Eventually, Alyssa finishes, and almost as if on cue the same loud buzzer from before rings out, before the door to the room opens.

>"I'm finished here." she speaks, "I'll likely be back later to do some more work."
