A Villain In A World Of Heroes

Yep. From now on, I suggest we start taking live subjects (perferably human) and start poking to see what make them tick, we may need some healing power first though

Or, alternatively, we could just forego that and start on our dissections sooner. It's not like we need to understand what we're seeing, for the most part; all we need to look for is places where air and water are located in the body, and we've already got a huge advantage.

But live subjects is much more informative than dead subjects, we can tell which red wobblies bits kill you when stabbed and which wobblies bits just make you scream a lot; there's also brain dissection, we can start mapping brain regions by stabbing bits and see what the subject can't do

Well, we could do the tests that one guy did where he found out that muscles move when zapped. That could be useful, if we get a lightning spell.

[X] Shoot icebolts at it's eyes.
-[X] Ice is just frozen water. Try to manipulate the water in the bolts so that they come closer to the eyes and nose.
-[X] Eyeballs are watery sacks of squishy stuff. They're almost 80-90% water, and in a ball shape, so therefore the optimal formation for our water manipulation. Using this logic, try to blind the dragon by moving/stirring the water in it's eye to rupture it.
[X] Whether or not any of this works, run away and keep dodging while you're doing.

[X] Use ice attacks, then use fire. Use resulting water to make things slippery and dragon wet. Use ice again to freeze dragon, and slit its throat.

Everyone wants to do the same thing becaue it worked before, namingly doubling down on the same plan if something goes wrong.

We should have tried to trap it in the hallway, were we would have had every advantage.

We need to try other things.

[X] Use ice attacks, then use fire. Use resulting water to make things slippery and dragon wet. Use ice again to freeze dragon, and slit its throat.

Well, when I consider it:

Fire is a ball of flame. This ball may be stronger, due to our consumption of the firecoons, or it may not. It has no pressure; all it does is burns. This is a dragon who breathes fire. It doesn't care about something it probably outclasses in terms of heat when it sneezes.

Water requires water. Ness has stated that our bolts are very hard to melt, presumably due to the freezing effect they possess. Taking the time to melt them is time spent not attacking the dragon, and all it takes is one bad roll to end us.

Wind is useless right now, unless we want to cool off because we've suddenly become too hot for some reason.

Water again... Eyeballs are watery... Perhaps... but we'd have to overcome the SR... Well, it won't slow us down...

We have a unicorn horn flashlight, with unknown effects.

We have regeneration, which I'm hoping that we won't need.

New Vote:

Then I guess the eyeballs plan is a go

You know what we need? We need to start doing autopsy on EVERYTHING we kill, our knowlegde is not Cedra knowlegde

Not many votes, but this wins.

Well, I would leave it open for a little while longer, but it's been four days and only four votes....

Edit: lol.
Dark Ness threw 1 7-faced dice. Reason: Ice bolt Total: 7

Dark Ness threw 1 2-faced dice. Reason: Kill? Total: 2
2 2
Dark Ness threw 1 100-faced dice. Reason: Book Total: 14

Dangit. This thing is going to be useless, isn't it? We'd better stock up on more water and ice spells, then.

At least the "Manipulate the icebolts because they're water for more accuracy" plan seems to have worked...

No, that was a roll for if you get anything right away. You don't.

The book's powers remain the same, it hasn't been nerfed.
Oh, so is it a "You can't read most of it" kind of "Not getting anything right away", or a "You haven't earned the book yet" "Not getting anything right away"? Because I could see the Trail of Wisdom going on for a bit longer, seeing as how it's pretty much an extended boss encounter...

More of a "you haven't opened it yet, and you don't get anything until you do."

Also, for when you get you get back to town (probably the update after this one) I have been thinking of instituting a minor and major action system. You would get one of each. Thoughts?

Finally, I will probably be going out to diner soon, so the update will likely be delayed.

Erm we had a 50% chance of killing the dragon? Or was that reduced cause we rolled perfectly on the previous one?
The bottom one. You had a 1/14 shot of killing the dragon, and only that because you already hit it in the eye. If you hadn't rolled a crit, I wouldn't even have rolled for killing the dragon, anything less wouldn't have been enough

So, the major would be a "What are you doing" action, and the minor would be a "how are you doing this" action? Or is it a "Big action, little action" thing?

And can a major action be going to school? Because that'd be nice...

Trail of Blood Complete
You cast one more icebolt and shoot it at the dragon's eye. The same eye that you already hit with another icebolt and froze. You tried to mess with the dragon's eye a second ago, but nothing happened. It didn't matter anyways, however. In a struck of extraordinary luck, your ice bolt hits the first one, and drives it right through its eye, presemumly into its brain. Then the dragon starts disappearing, slowly fading out of existance, becoming more and more intangible, along with your ice bolts stuck in it. You just stand there, watching, and you feel like it is strangely anticlimactic. A single, extremely lucky shot, and the great and mighty dragon is defeated. Of course, real life isn't a story, things don't work like that.

When the dragon is completely gone, a square pedestal rises from the marble slab in the center of the room. The pedestal is made out of some strange, shiny, black stone and its edges are silver, which makes it stand in very sharp contrast with the rest of the room. You head towards it, and see a book lying on top. It is bound in a weird brown material that reminds you of leather, yet it definitely isn't leather. Blue glowing runes shift and slide across the book, grouping and breaking apart. You have no idea what any of them means, and when you go to pick the book up, you seem to hear a thousand barely audioble discordant whispers. But, it stops as soon as you grab the book which leaves you wondering if you imagined it. After you grab the book, the runes dim, but don't stop glowing or moving, and the temple starts to disappear like the dragon did.

You find yourself in the clearing where you first entered the temple, facing the exact same way as well. It Is still mid afternoon, and, strangely, the sun doesn't seem to have moved at all. In the place of the temple, there is simplely trees, grass, and bushes, along with other assorted vegetation. The book in your hand is the only sign that any of what happened was real, and you stow it in your pack, hiding its glow. You have suffered, you have fought, you have bled, you have killed, and now you have been rewarded. It seems that your trial is over.
