A Villain In A World Of Heroes

This is very different from finding a piece of meat in some one's lockbox or something and then eating It.

...wat. I think that that'd count as very suspicious of the purposes of whether or not it's suspicious enough for us to not automatically eat it.

You know, one thing none you seem to have considered is that the horn may have narcotic properties. The horn could also be worth hundreds of gold if we sell it. The horn could just be a horn and do nothing, and then we look like a dope.

Also, we can turn it into a pretty sweet dagger, if it can't channel magic or something.

Pantry or cellar then.
Then I suppose we'll be kicking ourselves for a bit, but I'm sure that we can get poison resistance before that, if only by eating every kind of it so much that we become immune.

It's whoever owns the meat's fault for putting it in that pantry in the first place, when we could trip, accidentally open the door, accidentally put the food in our mouth, accidentally chew, and then accidentally swallow, and they should be ashamed of themselves for putting such a hazard in their own homes. [/joke] We aren't a hero. We'll only do that to people we're friends with.

Also, we can turn it into a pretty sweet dagger, if it can't channel magic or something.
Odds are, if it's just a mundane horn apart from it's origins, then it'd probably be made of Keratin. Certainly a fascinating weapon, but not much use except for ritual killings and quick shankings that nobody expects...

The most common by far legend about Unicorn's horns is that they are a purifier, cleaning poison and evil from anything within a vessel they are also in. (I'll spare you my commentary on that metaphor.)

Keeping the horn gives us a potentially useful tool. (It should purify for anyone. I suspect it will only channel magic for "pure" people if it will do so at all.)

Eating the horn may well purify us, which sounds like a pretty dodgy concept. We might lose our power or our hatred or be brainwashed into "purity". (Also, stomacheache.)

Next time, let's kill both unicorns.
We watched the black unicorn cannibalise the white and thought the red around it's mouth was from eating strawberries. Let's avoid a next time.

Obviously, the difference is one of Focus or Enhancement.

Using it as an Item means that we focus our power, kind of like a magnifying glass. Powerful, yes, but we can be separated from the Horn; it becomes a crutch, and, if we start upgrading it or something, we could be rendered a lot less dangerous if we're disarmed.

Eating it is internalizing the power, like building up a pile of radioactive materials so that they emit more radiation. We don't really gain much more of a way to control our power, but I suspect that things like nonverbal spells might become easier. The downside is that in a fight with the Us who kept the Horn, we'd probably lose, but we'd be a lot more versatile and dangerous, overall, because you can't really disarm somebody who's fighting unarmed and has regeneration... well, not for long, at least, and we can easily ignore the pain.

It seems that I've made a slight habit of choosing the invisi-text option without actually seeing it. Fascinating...

Curse you, dice gods!
Hahaha hahaha. That was hilarious. I'm not joking, that was funny.

We should try that again sometime. That was legitimately amusing, and we know that it could have done something cool if we hadn't fumbled.

Shoddy Armour, Yay?
You pick up the meat and scarf it down, unable to resist it's divine flavor. Its better then anything you have eaten before, in fact, if you had any more of it, you might become addicted, that's how good it is. After eating the meat, you feel engerized and faster to boot. Then, still feeling a bit hungry, you try to chomp down hard on the unicorns horn. The result: you shatter your front teeth, you hope those regenerate soon. Not taking the time to lament your lost teeth, you continue to head out into the woods.

Once more, you wander through the forrest, taking care to avoid attetion and not make noise. Although, thinking about it, when did you learn to do that? How do you know the best way to move through the forrest so your footsteps are difficult to hear or how to stay downwind so prey can't smell you? Meh, you shrug it off, it's not that important. Anyways, while you are wandering the sunrise occurs and it's beautiful, you didn't properly appreciate it before(the fact that you no longer have to worry about as many predators may factor into that).

A little while after sunrise, you find a some chainmail armour lying on the ground, likely all that's left of some would be forrest explorer, considering that you don't see anything else around, including a body, and there is dried blood on it. Its shoddy work, several of the butted chainmail rings are mishapen and warp, but it is better then nothing, so you put It on over your cloths.

-------------------------------------------------
Trait Gained:
The Unicorn's Gift: You received a bloody chunk of meat from a black unicorn. After eating it, you felt faster and more energized, whether there are other effects remain to be seen.

Items Gained:
Unicorn Horn
Shoddy Chainmail

is there a choice?

[X] Keep wandering
[X] Put the chainmail in your pack, muffling it with your pelts so it doesn't clang if you're jostled.
Our Trail of Blood has only been going on for one day, and while it was a extremely productive day, it's too soon to go back now.

For the same reasons. We haven't really gotten appreciable gains. If we left now, we'd only be a few levels higher, and a Whiticorn horn and some shoddy armour richer.

[x] Ditch the chainmail.

Chainmail is nigh impossible to move silently in. It's made for fighting, not for avoiding enemies and ambushing. We'll do better without it.

Considering that it only covers areas that we can heal, and not well enough to block attacks that would incapacitate us despite our healing factor, you make a good point. vote changed.
