A Villain In A World Of Heroes

No, you can't. The Get Strong is only there because you have access to a trainer. You won't have that on the way.

I never said either way. Just like I never said if turning it into leather would cause it to lose any magical properties it may have, or not.

On another note, I am considering removing the objective options and just giving them when you have more information on what opportunities are available in Taras. Thoughts?

On the crossbow, I am tempted to veto it as not being available in your area. Wait a few hours until I get off work, and have time to do some research. I will tell you that even if it is avaliable, it won't be cheap, and may even be to expensive to purchase, particularly when combined with a horse. (The horse will be quite a bit, probably taking out the majority of your money by itself, maybe more)
For the objectives, that would be appreciated.

For the crossbow, that's understandable. For the horse, is it possible to have that as a tertiary concern to all the other purchases (i.e. if we have enough after everything else, get a horse)?

[X] Head to Taras and apprentice to a mage
That bonus to training sounds good, and we can become a bounty hunter AFTER we have some magic under our belt.
You only have 3 options, you chose four. You may double up, if you like.

We can practice on our own anytime, yes, but self-practice by someone who doesn't know what their doing can be just as bad as not practicing at all. We have a trainer in town we can utilize for sword training. (would probably also allow us to practice with the crossbow)

As for learning new magic, I have no issue with that, but using an action with the main goal of looking for magic books that are already unlikely to be sold, in a small city like ours, is a bad idea. Teleportation and Anti-Magic are likely quite rare, near the level of Summoning magic, and are extremely unlikely to be found outside of large cities like Taras.

We have an ill-fitting Leather Vest. It is better than nothing, but nowhere near as good as properly fitted Leather Armour. Any armour value a non-magical cloak has is negligible compared to armour of any kind, due to the difference in how the leather is cured, treated, and shaped.

We got the Anatomy books so that we could make fights easier by letting Cedra have an IC reason to know which points are best for targeting with giant ice spears (we as players know the vulnerable points of several animals, but Cedra doesn't, and the books allow us to use that info without metagaming). We've barely been able to utilize the book because it is a bit too high for Cedra right now, but we also have a dictionary that lets us get some use from it, and we can search for an easier to understand book in the next town. Until we have something to replace it, we shouldn't toss it.

1) Fair point, but I we've done a lot of self practice (I think. It's been a while and I should do a reread.), and I think there will be a trainer in the other city.

2) It's worth a shot, and this way we can get books on 6 subjects instead of 3 in the mundane section.

3) Ok, the cloak thing has been going on since we got that leather. It comes down to having a cool cloak to conceal our identity if we need it, keep us warm, and give basic protection, against having better protection. Why don't we make a compromise? We make a cloak here and keep the chainmail, then we get actual armor in the city/the next time we kill something.

4) So that's why we had it! Not selling it then.

Edit:

No, you can't. The Get Strong is only there because you have access to a trainer. You won't have that on the way.

1) So we can't self train? Yaaay, changing the plan again!

2) Really? Someone did say it, because I remember that. Oh well. Cloak is still cooler, and we can make armor from the next leather we find.

3) It would work better in-story, if instead of voting now, we saw the options somewhere in the city.

4) Not being alivable wouldn't really make sense. Why isn't it there but everywhere else? But if you do take it away, I'm voting for a normal bow.

Whoops, missed this. @Arkatekt is correct, you aren't finding those around here, and even if you did, the price would bankrupt you.

It wouldn't be available everywhere else. But, like I said, give me some time.

1. There will almost certainly be trainers in Taras, yes. We have to get to Taras before we can use them though, and traveling without learning how to use a sword, especially if we plan to do the bounty hunter track when we get there, is better done before we leave in the first place.

2. When it comes down to it, it isn't worth it. 6 books instead of 3 is nice and all, but when we could barely come up with 6 things to get, it doesn't seem like a very good idea (especially when 1 of the things is unlikely to have actually good advice, and the other isn't helpful for us at this time (sneaking and first aid respectively)). Combined with a search for likely very rare spell manuals, in a town noted to be in the boonies, it seems like a mostly wasted action for low payout.

3. If you keep the chain shirt, I'm less upset about the cloak, because the chain shirt is better than the Leather Vest. (the reason we chose not to wear the chain before was because we were trying to be sneaky in the forest). That said, a cloak made from Fenric Wolf is likely to rather distinguishable from other wolf-pelt cloaks. It is unlikely to provide enough warmth that a blanket or winter clothing would be unnecessary, and 'basic protection' is about as good as it gets with any piece of leather clothing. (i feel I should point out that 'cool cloak' and 'conceal identity' conflict)

I suggest we wait until we have magic knowledge before we make the armour, just so we don't end up losing the magical properties because we don't know how to properly deal with Magical Wolf Pelts.

Any more problems with my plan?

Now it has learning, training, exploring and a badass cloak.

I admit, I don't like having to leave town for a new objective.
We were about to leave town and go to Taras anyway so I don't see much difference in voting on it when we get there and see what opportunities are available.

If we break a magic property, that is something we have to get over. The likelihood we can keep whatever property it had when we make the armour, as a novice mage, is low unless we take the magic apprentice option and have our mentor take a look and tell us what not to do.

1) Changed.

2) Changed.

3) Changed to keep chainmail.

Now let's see:

-If someone can tell it apart with one look, there are two things that could happen:
1) No way that person actually has a cloak made of Fenric Wolf fur. Probably a cheap copy that was made to look like it.
2) That person has a Fenric Wolf cloak. Better not mess with them.

We're supposed to be the daughter of a leatherworker. If they can make winter clothing out of normal leather, we can make a warm cloak out of Magical Wolf fur. And if we make armor, we'll still have to buy winter clothing.

Cool cloak and conceal identity going against each other? Why? It'll look cool, it will be even better if we ever tell about it to anyone. How is it going to conceal our identity? Cloak + Hood means they'll only be able to see our height. "The short person with the cool cloak" is not a lot to go on when you want to find someone.

That's why I voted [] Magic apprentice.

We can always become a bounty hunter once we get magic training, but not the other way around.

Why exactly would we show our face? If we do something that we don't want other people to connect to us, we wear it. If we do anything else, we don't wear it.

And why can't we become an apprentice after bounty hunting? Please explain that?

We can, but it stands to reason that training before hunting Giant magical creatures if far better than trying to survive them and then train.

Sorry, was thinking about wearing it constantly.*derp*.

It would be easier to learn magic and then become a bounty hunter, would help us survive if we had more magical skill.
Otherwise It's like playing a game through and THEN using the tutorial, from my perspective.

We would need to buy Winter Clothes either way. A non-magical cloak alone is not enough to keep a person warm in any weather, no matter how much fur we leave on it.

Cool Cloak and Conceal Identity conflict, due to the nature of the cloak being 'Cool and distinguishable' and the nature of identity concealment being 'not being identifiable'. A cool cloak with a hood is about as effective as a unique mask. It will hide our identity, yes, but only until anyone with some sense notices we have the same cloak.

I think the summons might be very useful, both Angelic Imp and Golem.

We can Monster Hunt in the weekends. I really want to test out all our spells, but educate and git stronk are useful for the road.

My other concern is: How do we explain the Spellbook? If we show it, they may take it away, if we hide it, we'll be unable to use it.

1) Obviously. But it does provide more protection against cold than an armor would. We'd need to buy stuff for -40 C, but we could use it to walk around in 0 C.

2) Well, not true. If we make it fancy then sure, we'de be noticed. But if it's 'just a normal fur cloak', then nobody will be able to actually descriebe us. Do you watch RWBY (you should)? Make it like Ruby's. Is it cool? Yes. Is it really outstanding (aside from being red)? No, it isn't.

I admit, I don't like having to leave town for a new objective.
Do you have your own idea of where to go from here?

By all means, say so. I was asking for other ways to go from here earlier.
And why can't we become an apprentice after bounty hunting

I was actually expecting that. I thought you would suggest grabbing a low bounty in order to afford your apprenticeship (and anything you want to buy during it)

Yeah, I probably would have went for that, but I didn't really want to write in. Now that the vote is in the other city, we'll have a while to discuss.

'Normal fur cloak' and 'cool cloak' aren't mutually exclusive, I'll give you that, but in my experience, when people talk about a 'cool cloak' they almost always want something that stands out or is otherwise flashy/magical.

This doesn't actually do anything. If someone wants to vote for your plan, they just vote for your name. And if you're trying to make the plan itself something someone can vote for, it needs to be a Base Plan (though if you do so, I'd hope for a more descriptive plan name).

[X] Git Strong, Scrub. Okay, you are already pretty strong,

You managed to spread this vote line over multiple text lines. Only the bit up to "pretty strong," will be counted.

-[X] Finance Plan BBB
This is another bit where a base plan would be useful, but the current vote line tells us nothing in the tally.

Ice magic, because CM and Frost OP. Seriously, look up Warframe Frost Ultimate.
Is that relevant to the magic system used in this quest? If that's from some other game or system, then such an assertion is meaningless.

[X] Buy, Sell, and what about that pelt?
-[X] Finance Plan BBB
And now I see where it came from. Suggestion is clumsy, since you can't rely on the tally to give you complete and correct info.
