A Villain In A World Of Heroes

You know, I'd be willing to bet that lots of people in that time period knew what was actually going on in regards to how tiny things had babies, it was just that they were too poor to have their ideas published. I mean, farmers see things give birth all the time; why would they think that mice did it differently?

If you had picked farm girl....
Well, I doubt that "Where Mice come from" will ever come up as a plot point... *Cue us having to deal with a new type of mouse that breathes fire or something and having to find out where they're coming from, and the boss is a slightly larger, really cute mouse queen or something that a Wizard made as a joke*

Go on...

Wait, that theory about leaving cheese in a cupboard creating mice, or flies, or whatever? Really?
yep, medieval science is a shit. doctors also wear a mask that lets all disease through but smells nice due to lots of flowers and perfume, cleaning their equipment is unheard of, and blood letting is the go to solution for any malady, and tooth care was scraping your teeth with a brick and then rubbing honey on that.

Considering that it takes about 0.6-0.7 seconds to cast the spell, and just a little less than a full second if you don't want to get your tongue twisted, that's actually a pretty big improvement.

Compared to what that specific spell would be focusing on both. So, if you voted to do only one, it would be a tenth of a second improvement on one over the regular improvement on both, but the other spell would get no improvement. Also, doing both spells would make this easier to do with other spells of the same type in the future.

...okay.
I would like to point out, that you are choosing not to prosecute people who are committing crimes. We are showing approval for there actions by not giving them any consequences for breaking the law. It isn't like we are putting them on trail based on flimsy or falsified excuses, they are actually commuting crimes, and we aren't going to do anything about it? This WILL bite us in the ass later.
Why'd you quote me here? XD

I need a vote tally. On another note, my vacation was cut a bit short, but at least I can update more often now.

[X] Buy some books and educate yourself. You may not have gone to school, but that doesn't mean you can't learn.
-[X] Buy physics books. Buy chemistry books. If they don't have any of those, get Alchemy books instead.
--[X] While buying the books, inquire -subtly- about that guy. Did the shopkeeper see him when he was in town? Any interesting news? Don't appear too interested, but heroes tend to be the talk of the town, considering that they're basically demigods, so he's bound to have heard something, and with us being away for a while we'd want to catch up on the gossip (this assumes that we know the shopkeeper only barely; just enough for him to know our name, or less. If he's more aware of any of our habits, don't include anything that would make our questions stand out from how they'd have been worded before our father died).

-[X] Write in topics: Warding, in particular we need wards that ensure our privacy (silence, muggles don't see this, alarm, and anti scrying come to mind), wards that protect against evil supernatural (eg: demons). Also see if there is a spell designed specifically to harm demons (like, a bolt of light type spell). Also, a spell for tracking / divining a target's location would be welcome. (note however, that for best results we should not study all those books at once. Start out with privacy wards only this turn; just check to see if the other books are available and their costs)
[X] Write in: Locate a hideout where you could construct a lair to perform your less savory experiments in, but don't actually do anything unsavory yet (we need to ward it first so that muggles can't find it)

-Summoning a demon without a spell specifically for killing demons and a warding scheme to trap it / protect you is just asking for a bad end.
-Summoning a demon without privacy wards is just asking a bad end (the call on heroes to hunt down the evil demonologist and we are not yet ready to fight any)
-We need to find the hero's trail before it goes cold.

@Dark Ness about the lair idea, I think we should get a few options based on how well our scouting goes, and then choose which one we want (with obvious pluses and minuses for each choice)

[x] Buy books: biology and physics
[x] Train base magic ability
[x] Train aim

@mrttao we don't actually know what THE SPELLBOOK gave us, just that it summons something. We can make guesses based on the name, but that is it. We shouldn't try to base all our actions on a single spell we don't know anything about yet. (I do agree getting some privacy wards would be nice for when we study THE SPELLBOOK though.)

Major
[X] Buy some books and educate yourself. You may not have gone to school, but that doesn't mean you can't learn.
-[X] Anatomy, Human and Non-Magical Beasts
I specify anatomy, because that will tell us the location and formation of organs and bones, and is something likely to actually exist. (just saying Biology is a bit too broad in my opinion). I would include Physiology (how all the bones, organs, and cells function, individually and together) but I don't think a medieval society would have that level of detail yet, unless magic microscopes exist (admittedly, they might).
I specify Human and Non-Magical Beasts because they are what we are most likely to encounter in our everyday lives, and we need a bit of focus on the study)

Minor
[X] Train your base magical ability, which mainly involves lifting pebbles. But, you can lift more then one now, isn't that great?
[X] Ask around the brothel about the hero, where he went, what he is doing, who he slept with, try to get any information you can. The longer you leave this option, the less results you will get.

edit: fixing minor spelling and grammar errors.

Major Actions: Choose One

[X] Buy some magic books and learn more spells, or maybe even something else. Then, take some time to practice what you learned.
-[x] prestidigitation and subtable mind magic

Minor Actions: Choose Two

[X] Examine the book you got in the temple, hopefully you will learn something from it.

[x] Ask around the brothel about the hero, where he went, what he is doing, who he slept with, try to get any information you can. The longer you leave this option, the less results you will get.

Question about speed training: if we only train the icebolt spell, will we get more of a bonus than training both spells?

[X] Head into the forest.

I want to see if we can still eat hearts and get powers.

[X] Ask around the brothel about the hero, where he went, what he is doing, who he slept with, try to get any information you can. The longer you leave this option, the less results you will get.
[X] Practice your aim. When you were fighting, you would often miss what you were aiming at, maybe you should work to fix that?

Can I ask what you mean by this? Also confused by what's being tallied. The last threadmark was at post 2391; the request for major actions was at post 2441... Ah, the request for action choice had major and minor components, and you're partitioning by block.

Grouping vote items by action type...

Plan: ◈mrttao

>>> mrttao created an entire base plan, which means it stays together when partitioned by block. Normally this isn't an issue, but because he incorporated both Major and Minor actions into it, it isn't easy to break it up by task.

Note: This is also not an appropriate use of a base plan. A base plan is a group of proposed lines that other voters are expected to add on to. In other words, a common core component of a larger vote. Given that this vote must be entirely comprised of a Major and 2 Minor actions, and that mrttao's base plan is exactly that, there's nothing for other users to add. It's not a base plan; it's just a complete proposal in and of itself.

Also, he did not actually vote for his own base plan, which means it just sits out there with no support. Also also, because he named his base plan after his user name, referencing it becomes a bit complicated.

But he DID vote for it. That's why it's even included. Yet it's also saying he didn't vote for it. Just including his name in the title shouldn't throw it off like that.
No, he didn't. In his post, he created the plan, and that's all. He did not actually vote for anything at all. User votes are separate from base plan definitions. He would have needed to add another line in his post, after the plan definition, that referenced that base plan. For example: [x] Plan mrttao.

The reason his name is included in the title is because that's literally what he named the plan: [X] Base plan mrttao. Something like [X] Base plan Privacy would have been more clear.

You can create any number of base plans in a post, name them whatever you want, and you're not required to support any of them in your own vote. The choice of naming a plan after your own (or worse, someone else's) user name only creates confusion for other users. The tally program can always come to a conclusion about what's meant, but that doesn't mean it's not confusing to other users (such as in this case), which is why it's discouraged.

In any case, all plans are included in the tally results simply for reference, even if no one votes for them. It's useful to know what plans exist, and which ones are being modified in which ways, etc.
