[X] Form 2
[X] Sharpness 2
For your first time doing it, you felt that the training slash power testing session went rather well. You learnt a lot about your ability to manipulate paper. You feel that it would be safe to say that in the event another golem attacks you, you won't go down without a fight at the very least.
Lucille was pleased as well, having discovered just how potentially powerful her own power could be. Seeing that hammer fly through the air and smashing into that pile of cars was really something. She's already created several moves and given them names. As long as she had that hammer, a golem shouldn't be a problem for her, unless it ambushes her from behind or something.
The sun was setting when the two of you left the junkyard and you were feeling peckish. You'd promised your family that you'll be home for dinner so you should be getting a move on. However, as you walk beside Lucile in silence, an idea tickled your fancy. As far as you knew, Lucille didn't have any other plans for the day. Plus she said she was living by herself right now so dinner must be lonely for Lucille. Therefore, wouldn't it be fine to ask her to join you for dinner?
"Hmm?....Wait…EEEEH!?" When you pop the question, Lucille had taken a moment to realise what you had asked her, causing her to cry out in surprise, her face flushing red. "Isn't that something y-you do for a date?!"
"Date? What are you talking – oh. Chill! It's nothing like that!" You begin explaining, blushing slightly once you realise what Lucille was thinking. "All I asked if you wanted to come to my place to join me and my family for dinner. You know, as thanks for saving my bacon last night."
"Oh. That makes sense." Lucille mutters almost sounding disappointed before perking up. "Yeah, okay…Sure! I'd love to join you and your family for dinner, James."
"Neat. It's been a while since I had either Zane or Madelyn over for dinner and my parents love having guests over so it should be fine."
"Great! Let's go! I'm starving!" With that, you and Lucille hurry back to your house for dinner.

"I'm home!" You call out as you open the front door of your house. Lucille is right behind you and you can see she's pretty interested in what kind of place you live in. "I've brought someone for dinner!"
"Welcome back dear!" Your mum calls back from the kitchen you assume. As you take off your shoes and put on indoor slippers, handing a pair over to Lucille as well, your youthful looking mother comes out to see you and to welcome your guest. "It's always good to have one of your friends over for dinner! Your father called earlier saying he had to do some overtime so there shouldn't be any problem with – oh my!" Your mother stops in her tracks the moment she spots Lucille. Right, they've never met before.
"Good evening, Mrs Miller! I'm Lucille Barber and a good friend of James. It's a pleasure to meet you!" Lucille introduces herself without missing a beat, giving your mother a little bow and a shy smile. "And I have to say, I wouldn't have imagined that a beautiful young looking woman such as yourself was, in fact, James' mother"
"Oh you flatterer. I'm just an ordinary housewife, Lucille. But thank you anyways." Despite trying to play off Lucille's compliment, your mother is obviously very happy to hear such words from someone outside the family. "Please make yourself at home, Lucille! Dinner will be a little while so fell free to have a little snack while you wait."
"I will, Mrs Miller!" Lucille says before heading to the living room to put her bag aside. You move to follow her but your mother stops you and gives you one of her knowing looks.
"Fufufu, oh you player, you. Bringing a girl home for dinner! I'd never have imagined! My little baby boy is growing up so fast." Your mum says as she pinches your cheek affectionately. You growl and pull your mother off you. She simply laughs mirthfully and waves you off. "Now go be a gentleman and keep your girlfriend company!"
"Mum! She's not like that! She's a friend. Not a girlfriend!"
"that's what I said. A girl friend, a girl who happens to be your friend. What did you think I was saying, dear?" She asks innocently.
"Gaaah!" You'll never win against your mother and her wordplay, you never will. Throwing your hands up into the air in exasperation, you head into the living room where you find Lucille flipping through the channels. Pretty normal except your club president's face is red. Oh right, she must have been listening in to you and your mom. "....Just for the record, my mother does that all the time."
"Y-Yeah, I thought as much!" Lucille agrees a little too hastily. She fidgets on the couch uneasily before jumping to her feet with a forced smile, "Say, can I see your room? I've never been in a boy's room before!"
You stare at Lucille for a few moments in thought before shrugging. There was still some time before dinner was ready so might as well kill some time in your room. You lead the way, heading upstairs with Lucille close behind. Your sisters are in their rooms, probably enjoying some alone time before dinner. You walk past their doors though Lucille seems interested in what's behind them. You open the door to your room and usher your female friend through.
"Huh? So this is your room. It's pretty normal. I was expecting something way messier." Lucille says as she walks through the doorway. Her eyes move from one spot to another before locking onto the paper cranes that you had made a couple of days ago. They were on your desk in a neat row and you watch as Lucille goes over to take a closer look at them. "You really like paper cranes, don't you?"
You shrug your shoulders and gently tap them on the side. Slowly, the paper cranes start to move, stretching their wings and neck as though they were just waking up before they take to the air like real birds. Lucille giggles as she falls onto your bed and watches the paper cranes fly in circles above her. You join her and together the two of you do some paper birdwatching while doing some small talk. You and Lucille end up talking about how everything was going with your grades, what tv shows you were currently watching, and other inane topics. It's rather serene just lying on your bed talking to a girl.
Eventually, you hear your mother call everyone down for dinner. As you leave your room with Lucille in tow, your sisters come out of their room at the same time. Alice says welcome back while Claire mumbles something unintelligible. Your older sister must have been napping. Then they see Lucille and Claire immediately wakes up.
"Ah! Hello! I'm Alice and I'm seven years old! Do you like Magical Girl Detective Marissa?"
"Ohohoho, what do we have here? James bringing strange girls to his room? My, aren't you a naughty boy. Or perhaps, this cutie seduced you with her charms."
"EEEH!?"
You facepalm as Lucille denies any attempt to seduce you on her part while your older sister laughs. Alice simply looks back and forth between you and Claire with a confused face.
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all.

Tonight's dinner was roast pork chops with a large helping of mash potatoes and steamed vegetables. It was relatively simple dinner by your family standards but it was delicious and filling. It was also to Lucille's liking who couldn't help but compliment your mother on her delicious cooking.
"This is delicious, Mrs Miller!"
"Really? It's just something I whipped up on short notice, nothing special and please, call me Katherine."
"Will do, Mrs - I mean, Katherine! Pass the potato please!"
The dinner conversation was pretty easy going. It was mostly small talk and your family wanting to know more about Lucille. While you consider Lucille a good friend thanks to what's been happening the last few days, you were pleased to learn a bit more about Lucille Barber.
"Goodness! So you live by yourself, Lucille? It must be tough having to take care of yourself." Your mother had just asked Lucille if her family knew she was having dinner at your place and Lucille simply stated that she lived alone.
"It's fine. My grandpa left me his life savings and the apartment was his before I inherited it after he...passed away." Lucille explains with a touch of melancholy at the end there. Your mother seems to accept Lucille's answer before frowning.
"What about your parents? How do they feel about you living alone?" At that question, Lucille goes quiet and looks away with a hint of something in her eyes. "Lucille?"
"My parents and I...are not on speaking terms at the moment." Lucille finally admits after a strained silence. Claire quirked an eyebrow while Alice looks on in innocent ignorance as your mother gives Lucille a sympathetic look.
"Oh Lucille, you must be going through a rough patch with your life at the moment." Your mother says as she gives Lucille a comforting pat on the shoulder. "I know how it is. I didn't get along with my parents as well. When was the last time you spoke with them by any chance?"
".....I haven't spoken to them since I started high school." Lucille confesses, her cheeks reddening in shame. That got a reaction from your mum and older sister. Alice just tilts her head in confusion while you yourself give your friend a questioning look. "There was this huge fight over grandpa's inheritance. My parents wanted to take control over it despite my grandfather explicitly saying that I was to have full control over it. We had a row, things were said, and I left the house, taking my grandpa's fortune with me."
"Oh my." Your mother looks shocked at this revelation while you wonder just how much money Lucille's grandfather left her. However, your mother quickly gets over her shock and you can see stars in them. "Oh my goodness gracious me! You poor thing! Your beloved late grandfather leaving you with his fortune and your terrible parents trying to take it away from you. Having to leave the house where you were born and raised to protect your grandfather's wishes, you were forced to fend for herself as well as feed herself. And now you've found solace in the company of a caring young man"
"Er...yeah. That's what I - What was that last bit!?"
"It sounds like one of my soap operas!" Your mother gushes, causing you and your older sister to hit the table with your heads. After your father and you and your sisters, your mothers just loves soap operas. Obviously, your mother needs to watch less daytime TV.
"MUM! Life isn't a bloody daytime drama!" Claire shouts in exasperation.
"Oh sorry, everyone! I apologise about that. It's just that Lucille's situation with her family sounds like it would make a good drama, don't you think so Lucille?"
"I-I wouldn't know. I don't watch much television."
From there, the conversation devolves to what's trending on free-to-air television and what everyone's favourite shows are and the plot of the latest episodes and so on. With the heavy atmosphere brought about by Lucille's admission of her family problems lifting, you take the chance to finish your meal and excuse yourself from the table. The ladies at the table had shifted their conversation to feminine products and you really don't want to be listening in on that.

After dinner, you decided to walk Lucille home. While she had her powers and could deal with a normal person with ease, it didn't sit right with you to let a girl walk home alone at night. Lucille was surprised but happy when you offered and she accepted so now you and Lucille were walking down the street next to each other.
However, an awkward silence stood between the both of you, no thanks to the dinner conversation between your mother and Lucille about her family.
"Hey, James," Lucille speaks, breaking the silence. "Your family's really nice."
"Is that so." Where was Lucille heading with this?
"I mean, I have an older brother myself but he's like twice my age, and I almost never see him so it was like I was an only child. I wish I had a sibling like Alice or even Claire and your mother is just so nice!"
"Eh, they're a pain in the ass sometimes but I love them." You admit, getting a chuckle from Lucille before she falls silent again.
"I haven't had a proper family dinner in years." Lucille suddenly says with a sad smile. "The family meals back at my parent's house were anything but warm. We had a professional cook our meals but I couldn't stomach them, not with how cold the atmosphere was. A dinner with your family felt warmer than every fancy gourmet meal I ever had when I was still living with my parents. Plus I love how big the portions your mum made were. God, everything the family chef made were so damn small!"
You don't know what to say. You didn't think it was that bad. Or that Lucille actually came from a rich family. Or that she was a bit of a glutton.
"I know right? My family sucks compare to yours." Lucille complains in good cheer. She's having fun bad mouthing her family, isn't she. "It was always, "Lucille, you're a lady so act like one", "Lucille, what is this commoner toy you have? Get rid of it, it's vulgar!" Blah blah blah blah blah!"
Soon you found yourself acting as a sounding board as Lucille began to go on a tirade on her family's shortcomings and how your own family was wonderful and great. Your mum and sisters really left an impression on Lucille. Eventually you reach Lucille's apartment.
"I guess I'll see you tomorrow, then. James. Sorry you had to listen to me rant about my family and how much they suck."
You didn't mind, you tell her. You're just glad that she had a good time at your place. You also tell her that if she ever needs a shoulder to cry on or someone to listen to her rant, you're always ready to lend a hand.
"Thanks, James. I'd like that." There is a long pause as the two of you stand facing each other, waiting for the other person to bid good night when Lucille suddenly does something unexpected. She leans over and gives you a small quick kiss on the cheek. Your face heats up from the feeling of her lips on your skin, no matter how brief and you stare at Lucille with wide eyes. You see her face is just as red as well. "O-Okay then! Good night then!"
Lucille immediately retreats to the privacy of her home though minutes later you think you might have heard someone scream into their pillow or something. It's a little while before your brain reboots and you head back home.

It wakes you up from your fugue brought about by the kiss on your cheek from Lucille.
Killing Intent.
There's a golem hunting you.
Paper from nearby bins and the streets fly from their resting places and swirl around you as you attempt to pinpoint the golem's location. Sensing the golem's presence close by, you ready yourself for battle. Unlike before, you have a better grasp of your capabilities as well as more power and paper as your disposal.
After a few heart-thumping seconds, the golem reveals itself. It looks just like the one that attacked you yesterday night. However, there was one key difference between that golem and this one.
Cracks riddled the clay body of the golem before you and its movements were shaky. By all appearance, it looked like the thing had been fighting someone else before coming after you. However, when it charges, you are quickly reminded that despite its current state, it is still capable of harming and killing you.
A piece of paper folds itself into the form of a lance. Without a word, the paper lance shoots forward spinning and digs itself into the form of the golem. It is a solid hit and the golem immediately begins to crumble away into a pile of clay as proof of it. You feel a few sparks flow into you and instantly you realise that the golem had to have been fighting another Gifted.
"You fucker! You stole my kill!" And speak of the devil, the Gifted is here! They come out of the shadow and you groan when you see who the Gifted was. It's some punk who's modelled his appearance after Japanese delinquents. Good old Yorizen City, a mix of Japanese and American culture blended together into a cohesive anarchic whole somehow. You nearly miss him asking, "You're gonna pay for that!"
You then notice that they have a chain wrapped around their right arm and noticing that nearly costs you dearly when the guy thrusts his chain-wrapped arm at you and launches the chain straight at you. Hardening your paper to its fullest in moments is not an easy feat but you succeed in doing so and block the punk's attack. The punk's eyes widen at how you blocked his attack but then grins viciously.
"You're better than a golem, aren't you? That means more sparks!" The punk reasons before launching his chain at you again. You dodge and bring your paper up around you menacingly or as menacingly as you can with paper. The punk laughs when he sees you do this. "You kidding me, dickwad? Paper ain't gonna do shit to me! So just lie down and get ya ass kicked bitch!"
