A Game of Supers (The Gamer/Original Superhero Setting)

[X] Learn another martial art.
-[X] Krav Maga
[X] Learn a useful miscellaneous skill.
-[X] Acrobatics/Parkour
[X] Finish the research of your city, learning about points of interest of all sorts. (This action will also raise the level of survey to 6)

We should really be trying to make our loadout of skills as versatile as possible, which means leveling to five or six and moving on. We can be ludicrously dangerous of we expand our range first before mastering a few key points.

Guys, we should really consider getting a weapon skill, we already have a martial art.

[X] Now that you have weapons, it would be good to gain skill with them.
-[X] Learn knife combat

[X] Learn a useful miscellaneous skill.
-[X] Slight of Hand
-[X] Self-Hypnosis
Sleight of Hand should help with tons of things, just about anything that would be aided by people not noticing what you are doing. Lockpicking, Pickpocketing, Reverse Pickpocketing, stealthfully drawing or concealing a weapon, etc.
Self Hypnosis might help us learn things even faster and can synergize with meditation, putting ourselves into whatever mental state we want. Will probably also help with acting.

Let's focus on getting atleast 1 more fighting style. A non-lethal weapon is always good and we really need Acrobatics.

I think it'd be far better to get ourselves abilities that will aid us in avoiding a fight, rather than the ability to fight better. Considering we are almost powerless, it'd probably be better to save fisticuffs for last resort stuff, or after we already won.

Very well , will focus less on fighting , you are right that we don't need it immediately

Yup,now in the early game its time to learn training modifiers rather than actual combat techniques so that we can be God in late game.

I think the skill we will be getting the most use out of is our Acting skill. You can get away with a lot of stuff if you act like you are allowed to do it. The Bavarian Firedrill is the trope we'd be invoking, which has a ton of real life examples. Including a old couple who managed to sneak into a white house dinner by just looking and acting the part, the guards assuming they were supposed to be there.

If we can get a good disguise skill and self hypnosis to make ourselves believe our own acting, we could potentially never be caught.

Acting is potentially a very useful skill if it affects bluffing, particularly since we are still very squishy, but we should work on being good at escaping if it fails.

I don't see why it wouldn't effect bluffing. Acting makes people believe we are the person we are pretending to be, and if we pretend to be a person who believes the thing we are bluffing, then they should believe we believe it. Now, they might just think we are crazy so we can't bluff TOO crazily, but we should be able to make them believe believeable bluffs.

So we're a 14 year old villain who wants control and we're learnign to punch people and act? what exactly is the end game here? super punching people doesn't seem good for that and we don't seem to have the Perfection like stat splosion.

We don't exactly have an end-game right now. Pretty sure we are currently just gearing up and preparing, making sure we are ready for almost any scenario. The punching people part we are learning because it's highly likely we'll never end up in a fight, and when we do we would much rather do the ass-kicking rather than get our ass kicked.

Acrobatics will be good , its always handy to know how to turn tail and evade everything

Yeah, I agree, just think that self-hypnosis and pickpocketing/sleight of hand will be more useful. Self-hypnosis would amplify our Acting skill and synergize with Meditation, and might just generally allow us to speed up skill acquisition by putting ourselves in a heightened sensory state better at absorbing information. Sleight of Hand will play along with many other skills, and even by itself, it has many uses that will allow us to acquire a fair bit of money and equipment we wouldn't otherwise be able to.

Let me elaborate why are you going so deep in on punching without all the other super spy shit or intelligence shit for agent level work, diversifying styles for learning, researching the street scene, studying law, business, heroes or the local politics and some form of tinkering to see if we can pick that up. Or disguise.

There seems to be some sort of Black widow instead of a Nick Fury or Kingpin deal.

Because we (the MC) has only been at this for 3 weeks (4 after this turn), and hasn't really had time to diversify their learning all that much. We are working on that though. I'm personally voting on stuff that will hopefully allow us to learn better, and learning more about the city we find ourselves in, and we are already looking into the local heroes by default since last turn we looked into the villains. I plan on getting Disguises soon, but we only get so many picks of what to work on per week. We are still on the very basics, and we are learning at a BS pace despite that.

@Kinni Is Academics a skill we could get? If we get good enough at school stuff, we could work on other stuff during the school day. The stuff would have to be things we can study during class without causing a disruption, but there are various possibilities.

Basically, here is my thoughts. We are currently a street level villainess. We are the most likely to get in fights. What that makes important for us is the Acting Skill, to bluff, talk heroes and other villians down, and etc. But, it also makes important the actual aspects of fighting. Because, we have no reputation, we can only bluff so much before someone looks at us as some no skill, untalented upstart and tries to smack us down.

So, yes. Fighting is important right now, especially so. Here is where we make our rep as a badass that no one messes with, before we build upwards into the intrigue and espionage., if that is where we are going.

But, the most important thing is knowing the lay of the land. Which is why Survey is so important. Who is who, what is what. Who are the villains and heroes here? Do the villains have territories? Where do the heroes patrol? Which Villain is most likely to treat with us? Which heroes is the renegade who'll break our back instead of just give us a speech and try and peacefully take us in?

Which is why I chose to consolidate our current skills, which included a martial art and acting, survey, and the knife skill, something to give us an edge.

I don't really intend to create an Academics skill. But next post there will be options for doing stuff while at school.

I just want to simplify the mechanics of the Quest.

Edit: Also, could I get a vote count here? I want to write the next part today, but a lot of things came up, so it would help.

Kinda chose a bad power idea if you want SIMPLE mechanics. The Gamer is kinda all about mechanics abuse, even in the very stripped down version here.

How do "Tinkers" work in your setting? And relatedly, what is the average tech level of everything?

Essentially, "Tinkers" pretty much have advanced ideas based on a certain specialization. It's not something really broken, since the things they do are only like twenty years in advance to what "normal technology" could do at the time. The tech level is mostly normal world, though there are a few places that are far in advance. Things like data storage and transmission, as well as safety devices.

How replicable is "tinker tech"? Im assuming not very, by the fact it hasn't been incorporated into everything.

And how competent is your average "tinker"? Even just using modern tech, if you put it together well you can make some very kick ass things, but usually comic book techs suffer from over specialization, making their tech off of only one gimmick
