A Game of Supers (The Gamer/Original Superhero Setting)

[X] No, you wouldn't reveal your face.

This whole gang thing has been a low cost way to get our feet wet. I don't want to invest more into it.

'Reveal disguised face' is kind of problematic because it makes a show of trust that's not genuine and will be seen negatively down the line. We're a villain, so if people are thinking we 'get close to' our teammates and dump then within a few months that's fine.

That said the whole point of showing your real face is to basically mix civilian and criminal life. If that path continues more than a few months either we'll completely adopt the 'disguise' as our real appearance and it's kind of a waste of effort, or we'll be tripped up by civilians we know talking to our teammates, and their reaction to learning we manipulated them is unlikely to be good.

Basically I just see disguises as much more effort than full reveal or constant masks for uncertain benefit over the alternatives.
The whole point of showing our "real" face is to convince them that we trust them without that being true. If we a) betray them and are dumb enough to not use a new identity with the next group we infiltrate or b) are dumb enough to be hanging around them without an appropriate disguise it's our own fault. Showing our real face or doing the aforementioned ruins the whole point of learning the disguise and acting skills - getting people to trust us by acting like someone we're not.

We aren't mixing our Crime Life with our Civilian Life. We are just expanding our Crime Life. We'll do stuff with them besides JUST robbing, but that doesn't mean we'll be introducing them to anyone we know. We are using a different name, and we are unrecognizable when in disguise, so any incidental meetings won't cause any problems, because as far as all parties know we are two different people.

This is manipulating them, and they won't like it when they find out. But our intended goals involve "Learn to Manipulate Gangs and People" and "Don't invest too much, so we can drop it and move on when we want". Neither of those mean we are planning on becoming actual friends or caring about them in the slightest. That might happen anyways, but we aren't planning on it at this point.

I suppose I should get around to making that final plan at some point.
@Kinni Does our Team have any suggestions on what we should do if Shadow Stalker (or whatever her name was) shows up? Because honestly, the only ideas I have is A) Do it at a time she won't show up, which they aren't fans of because of increased danger, and B) just run away, which isn't really a plan.

-[X] Or at least not your true face
We are supposed to take over this gang from the Shadows, not be a part of it.

Not exactly. The consensus among the group is that you should already be running away by the time she notices anything strange i.e: the explosion. Apart from that, having pre-planned escape routes would reduce the chance of being caught.

I guess that will have to do. What I'm worried is that she'll notice the shouting/barking/possible gun shots

How did the people coming and going interact with the guard dogs? Did the dogs just seem to know everyone, or do they know that people let in by a particular someone is alright?

So that means the plan to get invited in by pretending to belong would still work.

[X] Plan Piece of Cake, Revised
-[X] At the time advised by our Intel, approach the place dressed members of the Red Claw, and bluff your way in with Clara.
-[X] Once you are in the house, separated from the dogs, attempt to identify who has the Pistol and take him out first before dealing with everyone else.
--[X] Try to take down everyone quickly, giving no one time to call anyone.
--[X] Restrain everyone with Zip-Ties and Gags. Arms AND Legs, since they will have ample time to crawl to their feet if we don't get their legs.
---[X] Take their Wallets and Gun. You might be able to use them later.
-[X] After you've dealt with the gang members inside, Roberta should use the Ladder to climb to the top of the wall, and Net the dogs. After she's done with that, climb back down and unlock the gate.
-[X] While Roberta is dealing with the dogs, search the house for the Drug Lab, checking the Basement First. Attempt to locate the Information that Sarah wanted.
-[X] Drag everyone out of the house after you set the bomb, and leave the immediate area. Stay within a block's distance till the bomb goes off (it'd suck if we accidentally set it wrong and it didn't go off), and then you can fully leave.
-[X] Go over escape routes ahead of time, and if Shadow Crusader decides to show up before the bomb is set, abandon the mission. We don't have the skills or equipment to deal with them.

[X] No, you wouldn't reveal your face.
-[X] Or at least not your true face

What do people think of this?

@Trondason
My suggestions
If the bomb doesn't go off, do we really want to wander back into a house with a potentially mis-set bomb? Better to take advantage of the time to be far away. We have a camera already in place we can use to watch the explosion anyways.
Make sure to grab the gun (and wallets), it may come in handy later.

If hte bomb doesn't go off, our mission isn't complete. What do you suggest we do in case the bomb doesn't go off? And I'm pretty sure our Cameras are not wireless. We can only get the data they recorded by going and collecting them.

Sure

Looks about as good as we're going to get. The only other thing I can think of is trying to draw some of the gang members away beforehand, but that has it's own risks.

Interlude 1
A.N: Holy Writer's Block, Batman! That was awful.

Interlude: School Dominance

It was amazing what a few well-placed words could do, regardless of whether they were spoken or written.

You hadn't gone in with your plans of assuming dominance of the school that fast. The reason for that was understanding that taking over the social structure of the school wasn't really your goal, per se. Instead, it was simply a way for you to train in abilities that would be useful for your future plans.

Observation of the students and their social structures so as to understand their flaws and how to manipulate them. This had broad applications, since the same principles would apply to manipulation of any organized group of people.

So you observed the groups at school, determined their structure and interactions intra and intergroups, and started thinking of a few possible plans.

Very quickly, you realized that your best chance for taking control of the school lay in taking down the original power structures. You could potentially be able to make your way upwards through normal channels, but it wouldn't be as fast and efficient.

So, going back to what you had been thinking before, words were pretty much all you really needed to achieve the first steps of your plans. However, they had to be properly applied. You had to be sneaky about it, because if people found out that a single person was the source of all those rumors... It wouldn't end well.

And not being exposed was only part of your considerations. The rumors had to be at least somewhat believable, or they wouldn't have any effect. But by far the most important part was that they had to be properly targeted.

That was the reason why you spent a long while observing the social structures of the school. Creating general dread was easy, but to actually make those structures implode, you needed to target their weaknesses.

And your observations quickly revealed a possible avenue of attack. The most "popular" group at school consisted of four girls, but there was one of them who was the clear leader (Amanda) and there was another one who had drama with her in the past (Cleo), so there was an obvious place to drive a wedge through.

But again, acting recklessly would not be enough. You took note of the interactions between the members of the group and the other popular groups of the school. The web of relationships was difficult to follow, but with some observation you managed to get a general idea of how it flowed. This let you strategize a fairly good plan.

First, you sent a few anonymous paper messages to Amanda, telling her she should be paying better attention to her friends. Nothing really amazing, just something to spark her paranoia. Of course, doing just that would take far too long, because trying to get a big change all at once would backfire.

So the second part of the plan would be to make a move from the "other side".

You slowly approached Cleo, starting with asking for advice in ballet training, because she was a semi-professional ballet dancer, and took it very seriously. It didn't take long for you to graduate from acquaintances to friends, though not close friends.

And then you started the next phase, by dropping a few carefully selected words while you two were walking through the school together:

"Amanda really is popular."

Cleo looked at you weirdly "Yes, she is, but what makes you bring that up?"

"It's just that yesterday I saw a girl putting a love letter on her locker." You said.

Cleo narrowed her eyes "Really? When did that happen?"

"It should have been around 1:15 in the afternoon, since it was a little after I left chemistry class..." You said, after thinking for a moment "Why? Did something happen?"

"Actually..." She stopped for a moment, unsure "Someone has been sending Amanda threatening notes."

You faked a startled reaction "For real? Damn, that's rough..."

She looked at you with a serious glance "Could you tell me what that girl looked like?"

"Okay... Let me think for a bit..." You put your fingers on your head.

So you passed to her a description of the "girl". You already had someone in mind: One of the friends of Amanda's sister.

You could see in Cleo's eyes that she recognized the person from your description. After that, you two had to go to your classes, but you were able to determine that Cleo had became worried about what that could mean.

It would be difficult for her to talk to Amanda about that, considering that not only it would make things awkward with her sister, but there was also the possibility that Amanda could be the one behind all of that, trying to garner sympathy.

Of course, this would result in Cleo treating her friend differently, even if unconsciously, which would feed her paranoia even further. This was a situation that could be exploited very easily.

Not bad for two weeks of work.

Also, this training yielded good results for your skills, namely:

Cold Reading Level 15

- The skill to gather information on people based on even the tiniest details. At this level, you are capable of picking up information from someone even through the smallest details, and even if they are trying to hide it from you.

Personal Manipulation Level 5

- The skill to understand what makes people tick and how to make them tick your way. At this level, you can manipulate teenagers without a problem, as long as you have a prepared plan.

-0-

A.N: The first part of your mission should be coming soon. It was just this one part that was holding me back.

We should increase our personal manipulation skills, obvi. The more socially adept we are the less chance someone realizes there's a demon among them.

I wonder if flirting, social engineering and matchmaking are skills. ... For reasons! ... Fine~! I tell my plans.
First one. We need a straight girlfriend, who doesn't understand how it happened, for later character developement.
Second plan. In the meantime, I want to bring chaos to the school and then restructure it, with new unlikely couples everywhere.

...
I'm a shipper. It's my nature. I won't apologize.

I look forward to seeing how we take over the school. Also what our PC considers taking over.

Iara Medea 2
Hello, hi to all the rest of my fellow peoples of the Super Quest, I present to you an updated version of our dear Iara.
I do believe a friend described it as being less reminiscent of a 'generic super heroes show character' than the first.

I hope all of you enjoy it. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you for the second time, Iara Medea.

We're a cute villain. Look at her scheme her evil plans.

Looks great. The only nitpick I have, is that hair looks like a tad much. Unless we are currently prettying ourselves up for something that we need to be pretty for, I think Iara would go for a much more simple and manageable hairdo. Particularly one that doesn't give would-be opponents as many handholds.
