A Certain Scientific XCOM Project

Red blocks are dumpsters, brown circle is a tree.
And the brown lines are doors, presumably?

I'm thinking of having the MISAKAs take cover behind the black lines on either side of the tree, with one Overwatching each of the two alleyways to the left and right. The SHIRAIs will take point and move up to the corners leading into the alleyways with the dumpsters while spotting any incoming Ayyy Lmaos for us.

The only problem is if the Aliens burst through the doors but we don't know that, so we can only have the Squad proceed with caution and get ready to blast anything that doesn't look remotely human.

EDIT: Said black lines are benches, though, and I'm not too confident about their ability to soak up plasma fire.

Brown lines are closed doors (they'll be drawn open if they're open), black lines are benches. I'm no artist, so please bear with me :/

Oh, which of the buildings are the students still in. Also, I assume we need to clear out all four?

Everything south of your position is confirmed clear of alien activity. Civilians still on site are safely barricaded in their rooms, and are safe so long as you don't take down a building or something.

(In other words: you can play it like a normal Abduction mission; civilians on site is just for flavor.)

Nah, the Map is detailed enough to get a general gist of things. I only asked because this being XCOM, I'd rather not leave things to chance. :)

Anyway, if those beside the tree are benches then I wouldn't want to hope that they can stop plasma. Can both MISAKA's squeeze themselves beside the tree itself for cover instead?

Hmmm, as for a plan...

I'd advise to make SHIRAI 1 to move left a bit to check the corner of the alleyway, in order to make sure nothing is waiting for us there.

Once we're certain the streets are clear, better start checking the buildings one by one. Probably the one behind us first. So, something like 100033 overwatching behind the tree, and SHIRAI 2 & 100035 preparing for entry, with SHIRAI 1 coming back for support?

It's worth noting that Kazari notified us that there won't be any X-Rays south of where we are, though.

But apart from that, yeah. I do want both SHIRAIs to check out each of the alleyways so we can get it done faster before starting on breaching the buildings.

When this is over, we are going to requisition so much ice cream.

Whether Shirai 2 survives to have some is up for debate, but it'll make the girls happy.

Yeah, I was only thinking of checking the left street, it's the only one who's not entirely in our line of sight right now.

Then it'll be time for dynamic entries, with one MISAKA on overwatch duty to prevent aliens from other buildings to sneak up on us while we're busy.

Question: Can the MISAKAs detect the origin source of the jamming?
There's two of them, they should be able to triangulate the nearest jammer's approximate location and restore eyes to us.

Right. I propose we put M3 on that corner to the left, make sure nothing's gonna pop out from that door there.

Put the other Misaka on the tree on Overwatch, then stack the Shirais on the door.

Hmm, I'd like to have one MISAKA for a bit of precision fire/spark the wounded once the SHIRAI have finished blowing up everything with grenades. Given the numbers of enemies, keeping two units in reserve might be a bit much.

Oh, and I just noticed something :

Operation Violent Library

Random Op-name generator is alive and well, I see. :p

The western Misaka can be our flank-guard, while we have the other as an overwatch?

[X] Plan Pair Up
[X] MISAKA 10033
-[X] Move into cover behind the dumpster in the western alley, and assume overwatch.
[X] MISAKA 10035
-[X] Move into cover at the southern corner of the eastern alley, and assume overwatch.
[X] SHIRAI 1
-[X] Move to the door of the northern building and prepare for entry.
[X] SHIRAI 2
-[X] Move into cover behind the dumpster in the eastern alley.

Off-hand, a cautious push forward to investigate our immediate surroundings seems warranted. This gives us fire down both main axis of approach, and sets us up to investigate both buildings on demand.

Another possibility would be to double up on breaching the northern building, but that might make reacting to anything that comes out of that eastern door problematic.

Edit:
Behold, the power of a plan first posted!

First Plan OP, plz nerf.

Hum... I really don't like those moves. We're spreading all over the map, and if the aliens decide now is a good time to take a look outside, no matter where they come from, half the team is completely vulnerable to them, and with very little ability to support each other.

We can be sure that almost each building is full of aliens anyway, if not all (at least 12 hostiles), there's really no need to investigate all of them at once (and risk alerting the ones inside).

Ok, let's try something different.

[X] Plan Slow & Steady
- [X] SHIRAI 1 moves left to the corner of the building, assumes overwatch (if at this point, an alien becomes visible, scrap everything that comes after)
- [X] MISAKA 10035 takes position behind the tree, overwatch
- [X] MISAKA 10033 takes position on one side of door of the south building, overwatch
- [X] SHIRAI 2 takes position on the other side of the same door, overwatch

No-one sneaks on us, and we're in position to storm the first building.

In rebuttal, I think it's apparent this is not the whole of the map. The goal is to hold both alleyways for security, and clear buildings one at a time. Checking both of them may be better done early, however, so we don't get mono-focused on one area and then end up flanked.

This also means that, despite being more spread out, we're well-situated to respond at least partially to anything we encounter, rather than being tied down to one section.

I do want to know if there are any windows, however, since none are marked. If there are any, it would be rather important to know.

Edit: We may also have other options, if there are any cameras in either building Remote Serial Bus would let us check them without having to physically enter and blow any stealth we may or may not have.

While yes, it may not be the full map, it still leaves our formation with multiple openings. If someone opens the door of the left building, M33 gets shot in the back. If someone opens the door of the right building, S2 gets shot in the back. If someone opens the door from the south building, everyone gets shot in the back. The one with the better line of sight over those potential danger spots is S1, a shotgun wielder, meaning she most likely will miss, and from your description, isn't watching those ways anyway.

The camera option is certainly an attractive one, but we need to disable the jamming devices first. Another thing I'd like to know is if the buildings have extinguisher systems that we could hack, to boost dramatically Spark damage.

Hmm, I interpreted it as " the roads south of our position are clear", but you might be right.

@Skarmory is that the case?

Mind you, I'd still think plan Pair Up spreads our units too thin. But not having to worry about that particular building would be nice.

That's correct. The buildings south of your starting position are clear as well.
