[x] Some place outside. There's a particular tree and bench you like to meet your friends at.
-[X] You like to lounge in the tree in particular.
It's spring and with the weather as fine as it is, of course you're going to head for your usual outdoor spot. There's a a crooked tree that hangs over a particular bench with a broad limb that's absolutely purrfect for lounging around on while you eat your lunch. You have to be careful though, because teachers will give you trouble for putting yourself in a position that might be a little compromising in the school uniform or for getting your skirt dirty. Luckily, there's no annoying authority figures today, only Mari and Ryou who actually arrive a few minutes after you. By the time they arrive you're already perched in the tree, feet dangling as you carefully balance your lunch box in your lap. Grinning cheekily, you wave down at them.
"Don't fall out of the tree again, Hanako," Mari remarks dryly as she plops down on the bench. "Also you know I can see like, right up your skirt from down here, right?"
You roll your eyes. "That's why I wear shorts, duh. I'm not stupid. Also who are you, Takashima-sensei?" You lift chopsticks to your mouth and chew thoughtfully on a mouthful of rice and fish, kicking your legs a little just to aggravate Mari. Below she shakes her head and Ryou laughs. It's typical lunch time banter and it feels good to be back at school with your friends.
"I heard you ran headlong into Suzumi this morning," Ryou says after a moment of companionable silence. "She was pretty steamed about it in class." Ugh. For some reason that makes you feel kind of guilty and you can feel your face flush a little.
"It was an accident! I said I was sorry..."
"She knows that, I think. She's just sore. You know, literally," Ryou says.
"She'll get over it," quips Mari.
"Mari, that's downright cold!" You laugh though. There's warm spring sun, tasty food and you're in what might be called the prime of your life (at least that's what your parents say). How can you be anything but happy. As your mirth dies away, Mari's voice gets a bit conspiratorial.
"Sooo, I know it's only the start of the year but you've been single literally the whole time I've known you, Hanako-chan." Mari leans back, looking up at you with a curious tilt of her head. "Any of the guys catching your eye
this year? Finally?"
The question catches you offguard. It's not something you think about a lot and you're mostly just happy hanging out with your friends, almost all other girls. There's a bit of a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach, though, as you find yourself put on the spot. You should have a guy you're interested in, right? That's part of being young and in high school. It's just... never happened to you.
And now Mari is actually asking! How the heck are you supposed to answer this?
[ ] Uh, totally. That one guy... he's so cute... Yeah.
[ ] Nah, none of the boys here are good enough for me~
[ ] I dunno. Boys are all the same, right?
