No, but I figure that if they haven't seen my statement that it's changed by now then they're not looking and @ wouldn't help. Besides, it's not really a BIG change, so they may just not consider it worth discussing.

If you feel like @'ing them though, go for it.
Shrug I don't really see a reason why not at the least so sure.

@moelkk @Baltika9 @Qudrim8054 @Neo-Chan @epic @Lynk @Drakewolfbio @Metalbard @DaOneInDaCorner @hyperspacemage @The Meddler

Sorry to @ you all like that but just as a note the plan y'all voted for changed somewhat, if I'm remembering right the initial +10 to...karate I believe was changed to MMA.

There's still time before votes officially over so there's time to change to another or make a new plan if you wish.

Damn, actually was a fan of doubling down o Karate. Still, but late now and it's less overburdened with too many Socials imo; I'll keep my vote in that case.

In fairness I think the reason there's so many socials is so we can pop them for bonuses sooner rather than later. Also Hose's is about to start decaying according to someone in thread iirc

There's also the fact that mass @'ing is like double posting on SV. Not actually against the rules, but it is frowned upon if done to a large group people.

That is part, the others are that weekends are the only time we can really work on SLs and research, getting to actually know other characters, especially since our social circle is still rather small, if you don't spend time with them regularly their SLs will start to deteriorate and we still have one whole week with a weekend before the tournament after this weekend to finish our MA training.

[X] Plan: Friendship Brought by Muscles

As long as we make sure to spend our weekday action doubling down on Karate and Kendo then this should be fine. Besides the argument that we should spend the weekend on socials and the weekday on gains is fairly solid.

Forgot to call.

...well that isn't right.
It's counting from the Yamato piece rather than the voting section. You can change which one it's counting from. I had the same problem when I was checking voted earlier kekek.

They're both tied at 10 votes each

Oh yeah. Forgot that. Thanks.

Well one last shill before the end then!

This is a weekend vote and the only time we can do the things we're voting for, trait research and socials. Worried that'll hamper our progress on our martial art stats? Well worry not as we still have a regular week after this weekend vote where we can finish up the MA's as we need too!

Plus ya know, one of our socials has been neglected so it'll start decaying if we don't go for it, and since it's Hose's I think we're even at the point where this bonding session will start getting us valuable bonuses for any of you power gamers out there.

We have a fair bit to gain and nothing to lose over in Friendship Brought by Muscles!

Alright, I'm done shilling kekek. See you all when votes wrapped up finally!

A healthy social life is good...

[X] Plan: Tournament-Ready

...but winning is even better.

Yamato Story 2
"I...apologize that you had to see me like that, Yamato-sama," Hiroko says this while bowing forward with her hands on the floor pillows she had laid out on the floor. She had brought them from the roof where she had hidden them in a storage closet. Which is where she kept most of the items that were important to her and Agano.

"Apologies are not necessary. I was happy to help you leave your crazed state. Should you ever lose control I will happily assist you in regaining your sanity," you say as the Kumiho lifts herself up from her bow. You, too, are sitting on one of the pillows directly across from Hiroko. Yameko sits on a third pillow directly between the two of you, ears swiveling to either side to listen to you both as you take turns speaking. The cup that once held your impromptu fox repellant has been disposed of.

Which means you dumped the liquid into a sink in the Home Economics room. Then put the cup in a trash can. Which Hiroko proceeded to set on fire.

Not with the supernatural fire that their races are iconic for. She simply took out a cigarette lighter and dropped it in before placing the lid back on it. When Yameko questioned where she got it, considering neither of them partake in any type of narcotics, the Kumiho had shrugged and name dropped her Partner.

You make a mental note to possibly ask Agano about that when she gets out.

Hiroko's ears begin to swivel while her tails start to wrap themselves around her arms. She fidgets in place while attempting to avoid eye-contact with you, "Yes...um...about that. I...hate to admit this but...um...how should I say-"

"That was Hiroko when she is sane, Yamato-sama," Yameko finishes for her cousin. The Kumiho looks at her friend with faux betrayal while you simply raise an eyebrow at the revelation. You ask your Partner to elaborate. She does so, complete seriousness in her tone, "The form you saw, Yamato-sama, was Hiroko after using all her willpower to keep her urges at bay. If she hadn't done that, the building we are in would be leveled."

You nod along with your Partner's explanation. You turn to the Kumiho who is trying to hide her face in behind her tails in embarrassment, "If that is the case, then you must have an extreme amount of willpower to put towards holding yourself back."

That makes Hiroko's ears prick up and her tails moves away from her face. The surprise in her features is evident, "You...you really think so? I would think that it shows how much weaker my mental faculties are. All my attempts to control myself, and the best I can do is limit the damage to this."

A hand waves at the destruction around the room. Yameko scoots closer to her cousin and begins to wrap her golden tails in the Kumiho's snow white ones.

"That is correct...from a certain point of view," your words make both fox spirits turn to you. You hold up a finger while you explain, "Yameko told me that you had refrained from eating human flesh for 999 years. According to the legends, Kumiho wishing to be human must only abide by that rule for 1,000 days. Yet, you have done so for years. And there is real world evidence that shows the more difficult a path, the more rewarding it is should you succeed at it. While I do not know why you are going above and beyond what is needed of you, I cannot personally see what you have managed to cultivate as evidence of weakness. Rather a better way of seeing it is that this is the result of a mighty will you have cultivated after years and years of keeping your more savage urges at bay. And a testament to how far you are willing to go to achieve your goals."

Silence.

"It is basic logic, truly," you shrug.

The two fox spirits look at each for a moment. Then they lean into each other and speak in hushed tones while glancing towards you every now and then. Sometimes they giggle at something you don't understand. You tilt your head and briefly wonder if you said something wrong. What you said did sound more like a speech that Hayato would give. Perhaps you simply weren't able to project the feelings you wished to get across? Maybe you could-

You are suddenly yanked away from your sitting position by twin bundles of fur. The temperature and fluffiness rises as you find yourself trapped inside of a ball of golden and white fur. You have to hold back a sneeze while keeping yourself as calm and still as possible. You know Yameko. And you trust that she wouldn't attempt to suffocate you.

Hiroko...you are willing to gamble on.

Which thankfully pays off as the two of them release you...only to find yourself pulled into another embrace. This time by Hiroko who says to you, "Thank you, Yamato-sama. You've certainly given me a better perspective on my current circumstance. I can see how you managed to convince Yameko to form a union with you."

You refrain from responding.

Not because you can't.

But because you feel that it would be inappropriate.

Hiroko is taller than both Yameko and yourself. In addition, she is quite...bountiful when compared to your Partner. So, being pulled into her embrace has you pressed against soft skin that you don't wish to agitate, lest something horrid befall you.

You hear Yameko cough into her hand after you're held for a minute, "Hiroko. I believe you've been hugging him for long enough."

"Oh~? What's wrong, cousin~? Scared I'll steal him away~. I might. He's quite the flatterer," Hiroko begins moving you to and fro while she speaks. You remain stock still. You will not implicate yourself in something that may threaten your life.

Thankfully, Yameko's tails wrap around your arms and legs and pull you away from the Kumiho's embrace. Your Partner is swift to place her arms around your neck while you take a brief moment to regain your composure. Hiroko chuckles at her cousin, "Ha ha! No need to worry, Yameko. My taste happen to fall on the...other side of the pond."

Hmm, interesting...

"Regardless, I truly do mean thank you, Yamato-sama. Not just for today, but for helping Agano. I am truly in your debt for that."

"No you are not," your words cause surprise to return to the Kumiho's features. You elaborate, "I simply wished to ensure that she was given a fair trial untainted by those of ill desires, and to help you once I learned the circumstances behind your meeting. There is no need for you to reward me nor my brother in anyway."

"Oh...um...I see," she seems...disappointed?

That can't be right.

Why would she be upset at not owing you a debt?

Whatever the reason, you'll have to find out later. The sun has begun to set and you must return to your brother.

You bid Hiroko farewell and make your way back to the Academy.

[Yamato Yameko Social Link +3 RP; 13/15]

[Yamato Hiroko Social Link +3 RP: 10/10: Can Rank Up]

[Yamato and Hiroko have formed a Bond: A Deal Upheld]

[Hayato and Hiroko have formed a Bond: A Deal Upheld]

[Hayato has unlocked Hiroko SL! Starts at Level 0]

Yeah, wanted to write a continuation.

1. To show Yamato off a bit more.

2. To add a bit to Hiroko's character since she hasn't been seen much.

3. To give the full list of Benefits from completing the Quest.

Also, I think I might do what Sage did in AGG; ER. Where he would lay out specific/special Omakes that could be written by people for singular bonuses.

Might not do it till after the Tournament though.

Baby steps for now. We'll get that part sooner or later.

I've been wondering: Hypothetically speaking, can we teach our supernatural martial arts (like, Unyielding Mountain, not just Karate on the supernatural path) to other people at some point, or does everyone need to be partnered with a supernatural being that represents that martial art before they can learn it?

There is no need for you to reward me nor my brother in any_way.

And there is real world evidence that shows the more difficult a path, the more rewarding it is should you succeed at it.
Sometimes it's merely a sign that the path is more convoluted than it needs to be.

Should probably look into replacement therapy rather than suffer withdrawal for another 1000 years with potential collateral damage.

Boing boing.

So, let's review what changes now.

- Karate (+): 53
- Kendo (+): 53
- MMA (+): 66

One training in each of these, with +10 that's in- MMA?

So we end up with 78 Karate and Kendo and we smack right into the 100 Cap for MMA.

- Physical (Your Body): 30

We also got to 43 Physical Resistance.

MMA is almost certainly going to be okay with the knowledge that it can CSC with Physical Resistance, for a total score of 143.

Karate and Kendo seem to likely be Points based so there are a few options to try to get things stacked in our favor.

- Alexander (Cleverness): 3

We can get better at being tricky. This also applies to pushing for Trickery 30, but Yam gives us a bonus to Cleverness checks so it's a consideration.

Empathy (+):
- Motives (+): 33
- Feelings (+): 35
- Interests (+): 20

We can also try to push for the Empathy All-50 for predicting enemy actions.

- People (Determining Skills of other person.): 3

Or we could work on actually being able to recognize things about people.

And of course the last option is learning how to avoid taking hits rather than only muscling through.

So is there an all-50 perk? Because Week 9.2 had nothing
There isn't. MAs don't have all-perks, only skill specific perks, and non-partner MAs don't give their perks until the rank 80.
Martial Arts:

Unlike other Skills, regular Mortal Martial Arts don't give Traits or Perks until rank 80. After that, you'll unlock a Perk related to the use of the Martial Art for 80 and 85. Then when you hit Rank 90, you'll have the option of turning it into a Supernatural Martial Art. If you do this, the 80 and 85 Perks you gained before will transform into a single rank 90 Perk. If you don't, you'll just get a lesser version of the 90 Perk while keeping it as a Mortal Martial Art.

Ranks 100 and 150 still give Perks as well.

Missed this, sorry.

Everyone needs to be Partnered. Remember how Yato said that you needed to up your Resistance before you could tackle the higher ends of UMT?

Yeah, that's the same thing for other people. Partnering with a Supernatural gives your soul a bit of boost that ensures using Martial Arts that break the laws of reality doesn't make it shatter into a million pieces.

Also, I'm currently writing up the MMA Training part of the Update since that involves a Mortal Art possibly turning into a Super Art, and coming up with good Mortal Perks for these things is hard.

So, forgive me if you sometimes don't get a Perk after the 90 and 95 Training levels. 100 and 150 will still give Perks though. Don't worry about that.

Week 9.3
[X] Plan: Tournament-Ready
-[X] +10 to MMA
-[X] See Hose at the School Dojo. You've got to keep up that training.
--[X] Karate
--[X] Kendo
-[X] Train with Hose
--[X] MMA
-[X] Train with Yato
--[X] Physical Resistance

[X] +10 to MMA

76:
Huh. You've been training with Mixed Martial Arts to the point where you feel like you're starting to understand it. It's taking on a different shape for you.

On the surface, it's just another supposed "Martial Art". It's touted as a method of self-defense. A way to defend yourself and those you love. Learning it will make you a better fighter. Learning it will make you strong. For that reason it's usually been placed in the group as Karate, Tai Chi, Wushu, and numerous other Martial Arts that should give you ability to defend yourself.

But after everything you've gone through...you can't help but feel that MMA is the only one that really teaches you how to fight. In fact, you think you've known that since you came to this Club. The moment you stepped into the gym you felt drawn to the Mixed Martial Arts section. Before, you never really gave it much thought. It was just something you did.

Thinking back on it though there was a hint of familiarity. As you watched your fellow members train, spar, and practice you felt that you had seen it all before.

The spinning backfist you would use to take out guys sneaking up on you an alley.

Kicks to the solar plexus you used to knock assholes into each other when you were out numbered.

Headbutts that you would use...whenever you could manage it.

And how everyone would change up their stances and fighting styles based on what they were doing at the moment.

Like how you would do the same in a...street fight.

That's when it hit you. And...it's kind of obvious isn't it? It's in the name. Mixed Martial Arts. The style takes parts of every other Martial Art out there, gets rid of the superfluous stuff, and leaves only the things that are useful. The stuff that can actually win you a fight.

In other words, it's kind of a "professional version" of Street Fighting.

And while it's not a big revelation...it does change how you look at your training. A lot. As in, you've started to see MMA in the same way as Street Fighting. You begin learning how to utilize this knowledge.

[X] Train MMA with Hose

75 to 80:
You start to see it as you train more with Hose. When you explain what you're feeling, he...agrees with you. In fact, he figured that out long before he even joined the Martial Art Club. And that is what allows him to help you refine your new, no, your True Style.

He starts you out small. Showing off the techniques of other mainstay Martial Arts. Karate, Taekwondo, Kickboxing, Boxing, etc. etc. He shows them all to you...then tells you to figure out what you need to win a fight.

That's what you spend half the day on. Learning how to incorporate all these Styles together into one. And you manage to get down the basics. It's not smooth, it's not easy, and you certainly look like a fool when you try to move one technique into another. But it's a starting point. Plus, you now know how to recognize certain Martial Arts when you face them in battle. You now utilize the Techniques of other Martial Arts in MMA. Perk Added: I Know That Technique: You know quite a bit about the styles that you incorporate into your battle skills. Perception: People will be added to Combat Checks when MMA is used.

80 to 85:
You spend the rest of the day refining those basics. And when you do Hose pulls out the more esoteric stuff. Capoeira, Muay Thai, Wushu, etc. etc. He drills these into you. Molds the techniques onto your body until you can do them with your eyes closed.

Literally.

By the end of it, you've gone far beyond the norm for Mixed Martial Arts. As of now, you feel like you're just below a Master. You know almost everything about the styles you incorporate into your battle skills. New Perk Gained: A Fellow Practitioner: When up against other Martial Artist, Automatically Succeed a Perception: People Check and know what Style they are using. Only works on Mortal Arts.

90:
It is here when it happens.

You're using the MMA section of the gym. Hose is off getting the two of you water. Yato's encouraging you as you train.

And while you're hitting a speedbag things start to get...clearer.

Your body feels weightless for but a moment. The world seems to fade away. The only thing that's there is your body.

And, though it maybe weightless, it is still there.

You can hear it.

It's screaming at you. But it's not out of pain. It's out of ecstasy and want.

Your muscles tell you they can be better. They can get tight enough to launch you into the air, create more bundles than body builders can get, strengthen your skin to the point that steel won't cut it. Only if you keep pushing.

Your nerves scream for you to ignore any and all pain that's meant to hold you back. They can take it. The signals they send to the rest of your body won't even phase it if you keep pushing.

Your heart tells you it's grown stronger. It can beat faster and pump your blood harder, but it knows not to go too far. It only needs you to keep pushing.

Keep pushing.

Keep pushing.

There's a barrier. You can't see it but you know it's there. It's meant to be there. It's supposed to stop you. Its purpose is to prevent you from going beyond it. From going to a place that you're not meant to be.

But you can overcome it. You know you can.

Just need to push a little more. A little bit more and-

[] Break the Barrier. Go Beyond. (MMA becomes a Supernatural Martial Art; Lose current Two Perks; Gain Rank 90 Perk: Mixed Work Of Art: In Combat, Automatically Pass a Perception Check to know what Style your Opponent is using. Only works on Mortal Arts and not when outnumbered. All other Mortal Martial Art Skills gain a +30 Bonus to Combat Checks)

[] Stop. This is...you're good here. This is all you need. (MMA remains a Mortal Martial Art; No Current Change; Gain Perk: Use Everything Around You: Perception: Objects will now be added to MMA Combat Checks.)

Hope the Perks are good, and hope that I wrote the transformation into a Supernatural Martial Art well. It was pretty fun writing it.

Wait, weren't we getting Perks at levels 80, 85, 90, 100 and 150?

Oh....I already took care of that.

NVM then. Sorry, I was just feeling tired from trying to come up with these Perks.

And it depends on the Monster, who their Partner ends up being, and how their development goes.

While Yato won't be getting a Flesh and Blood body any time soon (unless a certain event chain is unlocked), one of the possible outcomes for UMT for him should you finish his Special Event can effectively turn him into Full Body Armor for you.

Yes, Yato can effectively become a Power Rangers Morpher.

Yeah, that's the same thing for other people. Partnering with a Supernatural gives your soul a bit of boost that ensures using Martial Arts that break the laws of reality doesn't make it shatter into a million pieces.
Can't say I'm surprised by this, though the wording implies that ANY Partner will do, not just one that relates to the Martial Art in question.

To be absolutely certain, though: While I know his personality's unsuitable for it, could Yamato learn Unyielding Mountain without a "tanking" Partner?
