[X] Find Elizabeth Young (Relationship: 2/10; 10/5 RP; Can Rank Up)
Finding Elizabeth this time is easier than before. Mainly cause you have her number and the two of you could coordinate where you'd go to meet up. Which ended up being outside an empty classroom somewhere in the school's west wing. There you found Elizabeth in her uniform with a purple coat hanging off her shoulders.
You raise an eyebrow while the two of you start walking down the halls, "Hey, Elizabeth. Has anyone ever...gotten on you about the jacket you're wearing?"
She looks confused for a moment before slowly nodding, "Yes, actually. A girl told me that it covered up the school's emblem so I opened it a bit more. But that's about it."
"Seriously? That's tame compared to me," you say while shaking your head.
"Really? Why? You look fine to me," her eyes roam your form, trying to find something wrong with your outfit.
You point towards the white shirt you wear under your blazer, "This? This right here? Can't count how many time people have come up to me complaining about it. Mostly cause I stopped counting after number five."
Elizabeth frowns, "They're getting mad at you over that? That seems unreasonable."
"I thought the same, but here we are," you shrug while rolling your eyes. Then you change subjects while cracking your knuckles, "But lets put that to the side and get down to business."
Elizabeth perks up at your words. Her steps get a bit quicker, her eyes shine beneath her glasses, and her lips curl into a smile. She reaches into a pocket then pulls out a small notepad with a pen attached to the top. She takes the pen out then flips to an empty page before turning to you, "Right! I was thinking that we could start by explaining different supernatural phenomena that we've each personally experienced in our lives. Then the other could explain what they think it might have been. Do you want to go first?"
She points the pen your way. You nod then start thinking of a good example of "supernatural phenomena" from your life. You snap your fingers, "Ah, I've got it! So, there was this one time with a good luck charm."
Elizabeth watches with you with curiosity clear in her eyes. You continue when you're sure you've got her full attention, "So, I managed to save up enough money to buy my brother a gift. I saw this charm in the window of a store I was passing by on the way home. Thought it looked cool, so I went in and got it. Gave to my brother the moment I got back. He said he liked it and would keep it on top of our TV.
"A couple of weeks later, I'm making my way back home. I'm running down a new shortcut I found and make it to an intersection. It looks clear so I keep running...right into the path of an oncoming car. The guy was going way too fast to stop, I was in the middle of the road, and we both knew there was no way either of us were getting out of this unscathed. I could see it in the driver's eyes. So, I did the only thing I could think of the moment; I jumped towards the car and rolled so that my back would hit it. Strang...are you taking notes?"
You look over and the girl is indeed scribbling away at her notepad. She looks up at you and shrugs, "Yes. Wasn't it obvious I pulled out my notepad?"
She waves the object in question. You tilt your head at her, "I guess. I'm just surprised. Didn't think you'd want to write what I'm saying down."
"How else are we gonna compare our experiences, if neither of us are able to go back over them?" she shrugs then waves for you to continue.
"Right...anyway," you get back into the groove, "Now, normally, this would end poorly. I'd break a bone or something from the impact, or I'd be fine but I'd wreck the dude's car or windows. Or both. But...no. None of that happened. I rolled off his car completely fine when he stopped, there weren't any dings, scratches, or even dents on his car, and the guy was really nice about the whole situation. Even offered to pay for my hospital bills if I had any. Thankfully I didn't, but it was still a surprisingly nice gesture. Then, the moment I got back home, my brother came up to me to apologize. Apparently, the charm had fallen off the TV and broken when it hit the ground. It wasn't until after I told him what had happened that day did he realize the coincidence...after making sure I didn't have any injuries I may have missed."
Elizabeth stops writing the moment you finish telling your story. She bites the end of her pen while nodding, "I see, I see. It's possible the charm was either blessed when you bought it or it became blessed after it entered your home. Perhaps a Kami of Good Fortune was hiding within it? Either way, a very interesting tale, Nagai-san."
You scratch the back of your neck, "Really? I'm not sure. Anyway, now it's your turn. Give me what you got."
She takes a moment to think about the question. A long moment. Like, long enough that you walk into an entirely separate building long. The entire time her face keeps shifting with her mouth opening for a split-second, before closing again a moment later. She flips her notepad to a new page then starts tapping away at the empty page. Only when you call her name does she suddenly seem to think of something.
"Oh, sorry about that," she falls back into English for a second, her accent coming out loud and clear, "I was lost in thought. Um, I'm sorry. Can you give me some time to think of a tale?"
You shrug, "Sure. I can wait. I'm fine with just walking for now."
"Thank you," she says while folding up her notepad then looking up, "Other than that, can you tell me if there have been any-"
[??? Passed by Elizabeth]
She suddenly goes quiet and stops walking. She turns around, her eyes narrowing as she stares down the hallway behind you. You stop too, watching her with curiosity. You turn around and follow her gaze but...
[Perception Check: People: 3 VS DC 45: Fail!]
...you don't see anything.
"Is something wrong? Elizabeth?" you ask, eyes going from the empty hall way to the girl.
[Empathy Check: Feelings: 35 VS DC 40: Fail!]
You can't really tell what she's feeling right now. You know it's a negative emotion, but she's actually rather difficult to read. Or, at least, it feels that way.
After a bit she shakes her head with a sigh. Then she turns around and continues walking, "Don't worry about it, Nagai-san. Lets just keep walking."
"Um...OK?" you scratch the back of your neck, still wondering what that was all about.
After you walk for a little bit longer, Elizabeth pipes up, "Hey, Nagai-san? Why are you interested in supernatural creatures?"
"Hmm? What do you mean?" you ask, not 100% sure what she's asking.
She doesn't look you in the eyes as she continues to talk, "Like...you've heard the stories. You know all about how dangerous and bad supernatural creatures can be. How they lead people astray, can cause harm to entire communities, and can be rather...evil. If you know this, then why are you so interested in learning about them? Wouldn't it be better to stay ignorant and pretend they don't exist? Or avoid them altogether?"
[] Because you're genuinely interested in their world. You want to learn more about them.
[] Because you want to know what you have to fight. If the dangerous ones show up, then you don't want to be caught off guard.
[] No real reason. You just think they're cool.
[] [The Dreamer] Because it's always been your dream to find supernatural creatures...and become their friend.
Those rolls weren't for you guys.
All I'm gonna say.
