It a fun gimick that hayato is pretty much smarter than almost everyone else while still being "the musclehead"
This only makes yamato seems even smarter.

Though we probably should be looking at our Partner Art now that we've gotten a bunch of normal arts to Supernatural levels.
We've got a spirit quest/mind meld with our partner that'll help with that, though we've been told it's long and I suspect it'll be pretty rough so I'd like to bump Feelings and Resistances. Culture, Tactics, and even Education could all also matter but those are less important I think.

I'd definitely wanna get our socials out of the way and Resistances up first at the least in order first.

I don't begrudge the teacher in the slightest for that comment. Even if you get everything right it takes a bunch of time just to write everything down if you need to show your work.

Although I think showing your work is less important in Japan though so that's an easy tone saver

Kinda, its not that she dont know that hayato is in here due a atletics scholarship. If was yamato or gril number 2 (the rich one) it would fly but, no one expect that from the guy ho did not realize you arent supposed to literally fight somebody during a spar.

Which is why when you break past your barriers this time, you can tell that Sakura and Seteke aren't like you and Hose.
You're magic, Hose is a prodigy.
All she could say was, "Wow."

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RP8uhXuS2n8
Both Kendo and Karate have become Super Arts! Seteke and Sakura can no longer train you! Will no longer gain Karate or Kendo training bonuses from them!
We were warned of this, when our skill levels get high enough we need to find better teachers.
Perk Gained: Meditative Mentality: +10 to all Culture Skills. +5 to Resistance: Mental.
That Resistance: Mental boost is nice.
Perk Gained: An Iron Grip: When using Kendo, you can't be disarmed by any mortal means save severing your arm or wrist.
Very nice.
Resistance: Mental: 44: Your ability to control your mental state has improved even further. It's gonna be next to impossible for regular people to Mind Control you. You've also gained a small Resistance to Supernaturally Induced Fear.
Good, useful.

Empathy, Speech and Resistance are the skill groups we need to focus on next. WoG is that while Yato's spirit quest is going to take either one or two weeks, it doesn't require skill checks.

In athletics, we have managed to go from almost no knowledge to exceeding our own TEACHERS in a matter of weeks.

In academics, the midterms has been reduced to little more than a speed bump in our path to excellence.

And yet, our brother is destined to surpass us one day.

I, for one, can't wait to see what the two brothers will become.

Eh kinda, yamato is destined to be the main player on the story this dont mean a dbz level power boost just that whatever situtation he finds himself his imput will be the main defining factor.

Our Bro is a pokemon/digimon trainer. We're the madlad that decided "Why can't I just punch them in the face myself?" and no-one thought to stop us because our Bro too is a Madlad

Week 10.3
Something has changed within you...

"And if I focus on my target I can do stuff like this," you say while demonstrating the same move you used on the test dummy. Your vision narrows, your fist feels light, and the streak of black blurs passed your eyes as you strike. A whip-like CRACK resounds across the empty rooftop for but a moment. Then there's silence....until pain shoots up your right arm a moment later. You wince while turning to Yamato, "But I can only do it once. Otherwise I'll probably end up seriously damaging myself."

Yamato nods to you, "Impressive, brother. A stark contrast to when we first enrolled in Raijin for certain."

"Thanks, bro," you walk over and sit down at his right side. The two of you are on the roof of the school's main building. Wire fencing wraps around the edges of the rectangular area, which is what you and you're brother are currently leaning against. Yamato's got a can of coffee in one hand, and what looks like a book on the history of chess in the other. He places the can down and reaches into a bag on his hip. From there he draws out a can of Ramune and holds it out to you.

You thank him and take the offered drink. You start downing it and look up at the sky. The dark clouds overhead make you grimace, "Urgh, looks like it's gonna rain."

"Weather Forecasts place the chance of rain at 65% for today and tomorrow. Thus you have a high likelihood of being correct," Yamato says without looking up at the clouds.

You nod to his words, "Right."

Silence stretches between you for a minute.

"So, how were your Exams?"

"Relatively simple. I finished within the first thirty minutes of class. Twenty of those I spent on redoing my work over and over to ensure I was correct."

"Heh, same here. Professor didn't seem to believe I could pull it off. Betcha we'll both end up top of the class when the results are posted up."

"Likely. However, I suggest we do not let this success blind us to the future. The Finals have a high probability of being more difficult than the Midterms."

You shrug, "Yeah. But we'll just study again, won't we?"

"Yes, we will."

You nod then look around, "Say, where's Yameko?"

"In class. She is having her own Midterms," he turns a page in his book, eyes locking on a particular passage a moment later.

"Ah, right," you point at the book in his hand, "Guessing that's for your Chess Club?"

"Indeed. Two weeks from your Tournament, I shall be participating in my own competition alongside Munagi and our other Club Members. We shall be up against the Chess Teams of two other schools, Juniper and Hazel."

"Sweet. I'll be sure to be there for you."

"Understood."

Silence stretches on once more.

"What's wrong, bro?" you say while placing the now empty can of Ramune on your left. You turn to your brother with a frown, "You know I can tell when you've got something to say."

Yamato seems to pause. Then he snaps his book shut while placing his coffee can down on his left. He turns to you, the same emotionless expression on his face. After a few minutes of staring you down he finally asks, "Why did you do it?"

You tilt your head in confusion, "Do...what exactly?"

Yamato keeps staring at you. Then he starts, "Since you accepted the role as the Sole Participant, you gave up all pursuits other than training your physical capabilities. For almost three weeks you ignored all responsibilities save passing Midterms. The only thing you have done is prepare yourself for the Tournament."

"And you're saying that's a bad thing?"

"Not at all," Yamato shakes his head, "The decisions you make are yours and I will support them as long as they do not lead you to harm. However, in the pursuit of becoming strong enough to win the Tournament, you have managed to gain a level of prowess that puts you far above the norm. Based on what you have told me, you have reached the point where out of your three senpais, only Hose is able to continue training you. Seteke and Sakura have both admitted that you are too much for them."

You nod along with Yamato, "Yeah, I know. I did that so that I could win the Tournament."

"I know, but what about after?"

"Huh?"

Yamato leans forward, "Hayato. You have a level of Martial Arts Mastery that some can only dream of. You can move faster than the eye can track. You can block any blow, from any direction, without breaking your stride once. The attack you demonstrated to me was not only quick, but had enough force behind it to generate sound while hitting the air. When the Tournament is over, that strength won't just disappear. It will remain with you for the rest of your life."

....Oh.

You're...you're starting to understand what he's saying.

"You're trying to get me to think about the long run here," you point out to your brother. He nods and you turn your attention back to the sky above.

You...didn't really think about that. At all. When you were training and improving yourself, you just cared about winning the Tournament. Bringing home the gold, beating down all comers, and all that good stuff.

Now you can do that...but what happens after that? Things aren't just going to end when you get the belt or whatever the reward is. You'll still need to go to school, still need to study, still need to live your life. In the face of that...what's this new-found strength of yours really for? Beating people up? Who? And to what end?

What would you use this for in the long run?

"Do not mistake me, brother. I do not ask this because I think you were wrong to gain this strength. I simply wish to know what your greater goal behind it is. If your only objective was to win the Tournament, that is fine. But, when that is over and done with, I do not wish to see you directionless," Yamato explains as you look down at your gloved hands.

You clench your hands into fists and shake your head, "Hitting me with some heavy stuff here, bro. You know I'm not the type to think in the long term."

Your brother nods while his eyes remain locked on you. Then he continues, "Then let me ask this; Why did you want to get stronger, Hayato? Why did you wish to become better? Why do you want to win the Tournament so badly?"

That...that is a bit easier to answer.

Though it requires some soul searching on your end.

Why do you want to become stronger? What's the end goal for you? What is all your power ultimately for?

[] To be better. Every day become better than you were before. To never stop improving.

[] To be the best. To never stop aiming higher and higher. To reach the top and topple all others.

[] To protect others. To let them know that no harm will come to them. Not while you can swing your fists.

[] ....No reason. No grand design. No ultimate goal. You just...do things.

All these choices are valid.

Each one will lead to a different evolution of Hayato's character, and effect your Class Change somewhat.

Specifically, what form it takes and how its presented in the Narrative.

[X] To be better. Every day become better than you were before. To never stop improving.

I think this is a pattern in our behavior: we're not doing stuff to beat down everyone else, but we never settle for good enough either. If we train a skill, or pursue a task, we do so because it's the right thing to do.

Although, I think I want a fifth option:

[] Honestly? To get better at fighting. You just like to fight.

@LinkOnScepter, is that something you can accommodate?

Because bro.

I really like the "To get better at fighting" vote, so I'll swap to that if the QM gives it the OK.

Well, this sounds like we only want to improve without any specific objective than to be even better than yesterday (something similar to goku)

This sounds a bit more arrogant, that we want to be the best of all, it will probably lead to us wanting to fight with stronger people to prove that we are stronger

Average shonen answer, it will probably lead to something similar with Naruto and he want to be a hokage and as a hokage defend my family (which is the whole village) or luffy and be the pirate king and his nakamas .. a character of that style

[] .... No reason. No grand design. No ultimate goal. You just ... do things.

This probably ends with a character who is currently lost and does not know what his long-term goal is, one that focuses on day-to-day living and short-term goals.

They all sound good so I will abstain from voting until I see an argument that convinces me

Technically, this is included in the "To Be Better" option.

"To Be Better" includes being better at fighting.

Our little brothers the kind of guy that can overcome any obstacle if given the time to think. Thing is, this is the kind of world where you don't really get that time, this is the kind of world where your enemies come at you in hordes to drag you down before you can rise too high for them to stop you.

One day our brother shall pierce the heavens themselves, but until that day we shall stand as a shield to protect him and everyone else we care about from those who wish to bring them low.

After all, a big brother is born first in order to protect the little brothers and sisters that come after him.

I would put this way.

[] Since we got the contracts we got i target's on our backs. And while i have absolute faith in you to have a plan bro im aware that no one can account to every possibility. So its better have this power and not need it than need it and not having it.

Yeah, let us not forget how we were around Hayato when we were kids. Bullies picked on him, we stepped in to kick their asses until they stopped. So I, personally, feel that "protect people" is the most in-character answer we can give right now, because that's what we've been using our fists for.
