Our improved nova design was supposedly an easy upgrade to to apply to existing nova ships which implies that it isn't an increased burden for their systems.
But our ships were already DAoT warships using Grav Accelerator Nova Canon. I'm talking about difference between those and Imperial Era Nova Canons.

We should build a planet killer to take care of these hulks. Sending Cruisers and Escorts is almost pointless.

Even Failbaddon managed to build one in the Eye of Terror. We could do it if we really commited to it.

War on Two Fronts Part Two: Avernus Arrival
War on Two Fronts Part Two: Avernus Arrival

A mere day after the Orks claimed the orbitals of Mara Sara the Abomination Fleet entered the Helheim system. They arrived at a random point six AU from Avernus, a distance large enough to ensure that you could not have a prepared ambush waiting for them. It will take them a week to reach the orbit of Avernus at their planned speed. In this week the vast majority of the fleet will maintain a tight formation around the transports while the Cobra Destroyers, half of the Sword Frigates and the Light Cruisers will be split between patrolling the area around the fleet and probing the area in front of it for ambushes. Ridcully has managed to get a copy of their patrol routes and Admiral Sarnow tells you that it has a a few holes, though none he can fit the Fólkvangr into. A pity as an ambush by the Fólkvangr would be a great welcome to Avernus.

You will have to decide how much to harass the Abomination Crusade, how much to use the intelligence that Ridcully has provided and what your primary and secondary targets should be.
[] Light- Use your raiders and stealth ships to inflict what damage they can while avoiding any major conflict- This will not cause much damage but will allow you to avoid using any of Ridcully's information without risking losing many ships.
[] Medium- use everything but your armored warships to inflict as much damage as possible via ambushes and harassment tactics, be willing to accept some major clashes- This will inflict a significant amount of damage and not need Admiral Sarnow to be too blatant about using the information that Ridcully is providing him.
[] Heavy- use everything short of your Grand Cruisers to inflict major damage on the Crusade Fleet, only avoiding the largest of clashes. - This will inflict a a major amount of but will need Admiral Sarnow to be blatant about using the information that Ridcully is providing him, and will result in your fleet suffering a significant amount of losses.
[] Heavy- use everything short of the Fólkvangr to inflict massivedamage on the Crusade Fleet, only avoiding a decisive battle. - This will inflict a a massive amount of but will need Admiral Sarnow to be blatant about using the information that Ridcully is providing him, and will risk series losses.
[] Write in aproach
Please select a primary target and a secondary target
[] Transports- The transports are well protected but carry the majority of the invasion force and are fragile. -Attacking the transports will be dangerous but have a major impact on the number of men that the Abomination Crusade can land.
[] Mass Convoyers- The transports are very well protected and armored but most liekly carry many of the better troops among the attackers, including the Titans. -Attacking the mass convoyers will be highly dangerous but have a major impact on the number of men that the Abomination Crusade can land and quite possible kill many of their best forces.
[] Transports- The transports are well protected but carry the majority of the invasion force and are fragile. -Attacking the transportswill be dangerous but have a major impact on the number of men that the Abomination Crusade can land.
[] Light Forces- The Light forces will be those that are trying to seek out your ambushes, and so will be the easiest targets. - Attacking the Light forces will be the easiest option and will reduce the Abomination Fleets ablity to deal with future harassment.
[] Main Fleet- Trying to cause as much general damage as possible to the naval combat power of the Abomination Fleet will be less challenging then some options as the fleet is going to attempt o seek out your ships and is less protected. You will suffer losses however due to its ablity to fight back.
[] Write in target
[] Do not use any of the information that Ridcully has gained form the enemies plans- No bonus and no risk of them realizing you have said plans.
[] Make subtle of the information that Ridcully has gained form the enemies plans- Medium bonus and small chance of them realising you have the plans.
[] Make blatant of the information that Ridcully has gained form the enemies plans- Massive bonus and certain chance of them realising you have the plans.

In a weeks time the Abomination Fleet will reach eh orbit of Avernus, where you will have to decide how much of a stand to make in orbit. While you are not going to stop them from making landfall there is a decent chance that you will be able to hold the area directly above Dis for a considerable time due to the fire support that you cities can provide.

I think we should go with medium and the light forces. These is going to take some time and they will still bleed against our defenses.

[X] Plan Subtle Ambush

-[X] Medium- use everything but your armored warships to inflict as much damage as possible via ambushes and harassment tactics, be willing to accept some major clashes- This will inflict a significant amount of damage and not need Admiral Sarnow to be too blatant about using the information that Ridcully is providing him.
-[X] Primary: Light Forces- The Light forces will be those that are trying to seek out your ambushes, and so will be the easiest targets. - Attacking the Light forces will be the easiest option and will reduce the Abomination Fleets ablity to deal with future harassment.
-[X] Secondary: Targets of Opportunity - Try to cause as much damage as possible to the Abomination's overall navy, at the best possible casualty ratios.
-[X] Make subtle of the information that Ridcully has gained form the enemies plans- Medium bonus and small chance of them realising you have the plans.

I think this is the best idea for the initial engagement, we are going to want to be harassing them as much as we can with the size difference between our fleets so this will improve the damage we can inflict on the troops for the rest of the approach and reduce the casualties we will take from doing so, also we don't want to give how much we know away too soon in case they decide to go screw it and pull all the aces out at once.

Edit: This might need to be by plan, added plan name

So target the escorts first and then attack the transports in the second round or go straight for the transports ?

We should remember that the people they intend to sacrifice for their rituals are probably gonna be in the transports.

an opening shot to cripple their ability to contest further harassment sounds lovely.

I rather doubt we'd be able to get enough of them to stop the sacrifice. I'd rather take out enemy super heavies.

crap, I derp

Edit: Still think going for the light forces is best though.

EditEdit: Wait, i dunno, maybe i mistook what the effect of targeting the light forces were if what i thought what would happen would need a write in, I need to sleep on this before I do anything else.

wow, running some numbers and a deamon Battle Barge has a higher armor value then a legend, if only just. way less HP and AA though

You listed transports as an attack option twice.
Also how does it make a difference between Sarnow making blatant use of the plans in one of the heavier harrasment settings compared to the information vote?

Well, looking at that fleet, we are completely and throughly fucked.

Lets go for the Mass Conveyors, we do not want them to land Legio Crucis.

[X] Plan: Priorities
[X] Medium- use everything but your armored warships to inflict as much damage as possible via ambushes and harassment tactics, be willing to accept some major clashes- This will inflict a significant amount of damage and not need Admiral Sarnow to be too blatant about using the information that Ridcully is providing him.
[X] Mass Convoyers- The transports are very well protected and armored but most liekly carry many of the better troops among the attackers, including the Titans. -Attacking the mass convoyers will be highly dangerous but have a major impact on the number of men that the Abomination Crusade can land and quite possible kill many of their best forces.
[X] Make blatant of the information that Ridcully has gained form the enemies plans- Massive bonus and certain chance of them realising you have the plans.

My basis is
1. Its very unlikely that they will change their plans according to Ridcully
2. If we do we're still likely to see what they are.
3. The Mass Conveyors have the largest number of their forces and their Titans which are a serious threat

@Durin
1. How likely does Ridcully/Rotbart think our opposing general will change his plan if he realises we know his plans?
2. How important are his plans for landfall (if he has any)

wow, running some numbers and a deamon Battle Barge has a higher armor value then a legend, if only just. way less HP and AA though

how does armor work again? I know it mostly stops damage if it's twice the ap of the attack and does nothing if the ap is higher, but how does it work if the ap is near the armor value? I'm trying to gronk just how hard to kill those things are going to be.

click on one of the CR damage numbers to see formula or this
=1/(1+MAX(0,2-$P$20/D3,D3-$P$20,D3*(D3-2*$P$20),D3*D3*(D3-4*$P$20),D3*D3*D3*(D3-8*$P$20)))^1.5
where $P$20=AP and D3 = armor
