Eh, sure, why not? I'm kinda digging this here plan. My main worry though is that seven-fucking-teen boy over there might somehow mess things up.
Still, if he agrees to pay for dinner, then we won't even need to fight anymore, right? Fingers crossed that that'll happen...? Maybe?

[x] Plan Captain Clever

[] An offer he shouldn't refuse: Make a plan, then offer Moss a deal: the team drops out if Moss pays for the team's victory dinner. If yes, great. If no:
-[] Jaune: bait. Moss is an opportunist, so Jaune baits him into an attack of opportunity. Get off the sword, act like he's preparing something big. When Moss closes in, drop the sword a few times so Creme can gather a charge.
-[] Creme: rearguard/hammer. Creme provides ranged support and if/when Moss gets close she hits him with all the force she can gather.
-[] Ada and Lumen advance but they're allowed to let Moss get past. These two are least likely to cause friendly fire if Moss decides to stand and fight. Lumen doesn't need to draft, he just needs to put up enough of a fight that Moss goes after a softer target.

EDIT: I think I might have accidentally ended up repeating myself in the tally system somehow... As in, the entire content of the plan got repeated? I dunno, hopefully this'll fix it

This convince me.

[x] "... No. We're done."

Eh, don't see an issue with fighting Moss if we don't go overkill since it's just a match where no one is likely to get hurt. It's the options that have us going overkill which are shown in big bold red letters at times where they really aren't needed or would be a really bad idea since failing would have very heavy consequences that I have issue with.

Why do we apparently hate moss enough to Break restrictions and go for overkill?

I'm wondering about this too. Dude wasn't really a dick to us and he even helped us out on one occasion. Really don't see the hate for Moss.

I don't hate Moss. I just don't want to give up. Overkill, regardless of how stupid it is, is the only (fighting) option that has momentum

Actually captain clever has good momentum and has combat if Moss says no.
Um no. Captain Clever's plan involves giving up. Moss is highly likely to say yes. I don't want such a tiny chance of continued combat. His is not a combat plan. It is a diplomacy plan with a back-up plan in case combat breaks out as a last resort

We are in a freakin' competion! We PLAY TO WIN! Just because the competition doesn't have any immediately-recognizable rewards for being first does not mean we should give up and accept the little-league. Beyond the fact that winning would be a good story to tell and continued combat could help , when you enter a competition you kinda have to...oh I don't know: COMPETE.

To give an example: typical grade-school competitions have no other reward other than maybe a ribbon or a tiny plastic cup smaller than the average sippee-cup. People don't try to win to get 1st; there is very little benefit to doing so. People get 1st because it's a competition. In a competition, you show your stuff in a battle of skill and technique! You don't just walk away with the "Good enough" ribbon. You go for that plastic cup! In the end, it's not the reward that matters. It's the locking of skill and wits that matters. We cannot just step away because we think our reward is "good enough." That would be an absolutely disgraceful display!

...Dude, even the teachers think us figthing is completely pointless since there only needs to be six remaining students. If it weren't for Moss the fight would have been over the moment we dropped to six students. We competed and won by reaching the top six, simple as that.

Eh, I get it. Ultimately RWBY is about the Rule of Cool. Why are there suicidally dangerous options on offer? Because holy shit if they work it'll be awesome. Why encourage people to take risks and offer rewards for doing so? Because he wants to create high-risk/high reward scenarios and give people valid reasons in game and OOC to take them. And that's FINE, even if it's monumentally stupid because we're here to have fun and if that becomes "fun in the Dwarf Fortress sense" then so mote it be and so help us god.

My big issue is that 1) The function upgrade was for the LAST event, there's no reward here so BAD THREAD STOP THINKING WITH THE LOOT BONER, and
2) Function upgrades shouldn't happen in the field. They're regular programs and Jaune should develop them during downtime. Deriving them in the field for later implementation is fine.
2a) Exception: removing Transistor Limiters can give Functions secondary functions.
3) The Process should have field upgrades. It's in the name, it's how they work in the game, they're a self-improving AI. it makes losing control of them a bigger deal

Then wheel and deal. I posted a plan, help sell it or come up with a better one.

It's a combat plan. Moss is very unlikely to say yes. I'm putting a price on giving him first place, and it's not cheap. You saw how much food was in the food fight.

I am very terrible at that. One thing about wisdom is knowing when to step back and not get involved in something you don't have the skills to do. I have not even once managed to get someone to vote for my plan in a quest with a larger audience than 7, including myself and the QM. I am not charismatic nor am I good at making plans.

And you apparently missed my whole post despite quoting it. All of what I said was about putting the spirit of competition ABOVE a petty desire for rewards.

He desperately wants 1st place to impress some girl. Lovestruck fools would likely say yes to achieve their love-related goals, especially if it is in the moment where they don't have much time to think about the true magnitude of what they agreed to.

Thing is we could have high risk high rewards scenerios without turning our PC into an idiot. Example, Jaune has spent years of his life trying to become a hunter and then he comes up with the 'brilliant' idea to do something that may have collapsed a fucking maze on top of several students who were injured and may have been killed outright thanks to his action, this is even worse since beforehand he saw Saff acting like a complete dumbass by endangering everyone by putting them in a death trap. If Jaune had a brain he really would have considered the fact that:

Because holy shit if they works it'll be awesome.

Because if it doesn't work it's not going to be awesome. It's going to be a tragedy and likely to get him banned from ever becoming a hunter by doing something so stupid when he had other perfectly valid options. If he was alone in the Maze and no one else would have been hurt it would have been a lot more understandable and less stupid.

I mean for gods sake, his own sword should likely be pointing out that he is going 4 against 1 against 1 person so taking the most dangerous option makes no sense. Like I said, if there are going to be risky options don't have Jaune be an idiot about them.

I really like this. Why? It salves the feelings of everyone involved. It makes Jaune look good, because he knows when to stop fighting; Moss gets what he wants, and won't hold the ill feeling against Jaune. He also has the option of spinning it so that it looks as though Jaune was afraid to fight him (though the dishonesty will hurt him in the long run, that's up to him).

More importantly, it gets something out of the situation when there's nothing more to be won by fighting - fighting would just lose us the regard of the teachers and Moss.

One, sure, two, maybe, three, if Jaune was one of them

Oh come on, Jaune isn't that bad. He's not bad at all!

Anyways, since I missed the bandwagon, it probably won't work, but...

[X] A challenge!
-[X] A challenge to Moss, he beats it he wins the first place. Survival is victory.
--[X] Use Turn(), same as previous one, just with Moss as target now.

Now this I can get behind

Jaune still has the Bambi legs malus, mind. Last I saw he can barely stand without the Transistor's support. He's not in fighting shape.

[X] Plan Captain Clever

I think this is the best option and we've already pushed the limit once this scene. I try to make it a point not to overly tempt RNGesus within one encounter.
