[X] DON'T PLAY IT SAFE- Extend your Reboot() to the maze as a whole. Everybody gets out, the injured get away, and everybody's after Saff's blood. Fun times all around!
Assuming we're rolling a 20 sided die, there's only 5 results where we lose, and only one of those is a catastrophic loss. I don't hold off casting attack spells in Pathfinder because there's a 1/20 chance of me backfiring the spell with a natural 1 (It's a houserule). I'm going to stick with my vote for living dangerously, because I don't think we will mess it up.

We don't know if Raven has always been as she now is. She could have been different back then.

I mean, she grew up with that bandit tribe and went back to them. I imagine the real miracle is that Qrow isn't like her.
@Prok Two things. First off, the reason I brought up Spiral() earlier is that all the Functions in Transistor are named after programming terms. Get(), Tap(), Load(), Void(), etc. I'd change it to Spin(), which is a computing term.
Second, what bonuses are we looking at for this? We've got Functionmancy's +10 and the +1 from Just. Anything I'm not counting?
Yes but we don't actually know whether she always agreed with them or not. For all we know, Qrow and Raven could have disliked the tribe's nature, or Qrow and Raven both could have agreed with them until Qrow became Ozpin's agent. There are so many unknown things about that far in the past that you really don't have room to speculate something as 99.9% sure something is canon.
[X] Play It (Médecins) Sans (Frontières)- Grab the injured on your way out, protect them, and get them to the professors. At worst, they're out of the way, at best, they're proof that an intervention is needed.

You have a point there, but honestly if we go that way, we're gonna run out of non-stretch Function names incredibly fast. I'll change it, because Spin() just sounds better, but it won't be a hard rule for simplicity's sake. I wanna lower the barrier for entry, it makes for better limbo practice.
Also yes, you're working with a +11 bonus on a D30 roll. I'll be honest- I'll be more impressed if you screw this up.
Also also- if you think that Raven and Qrow are going to be relevant within the next three years, you're optimistic. Seriously, I'll probably own my own cafe before volume 3 becomes relevant or you've done enough to force Ozpin's lot to acknowledge you as a potential ally. For now though, it's irrelevant.
Personally, Beacon let in a 15 year old girl who hadn't even finished her training at Signal, she got in because she attempted to stop a robbery, a dude who didn't even go to Signal, he just faked his transcripts, and a girl with no past identity, claiming she 'grew up outside the kingdoms,' and is later revealed to be a former member of a known terrorist group, revealing it to a member of the family said terrorist group has a goddamn bloodlust for.
As far as I can tell, the true entry requirement for Beacon is to do something that gets Ozpin to say "I like you, because that shit was ballsy as fuck."
Everything else is irrelevant.

[x] WriteIn(Challenge()): Saff seems to have made this giant maze because he thinks the lot of you are dangerous to others. Prove him very directly wrong - use Reboot() to calmly make your way out of the deathtrap, then tell him to put those shoddily constructed walls down before someone on the inside gets hurt. When you beat the stuffing out of him, that is. If he makes it a standoff, it's still to your advantage, seeing as the remaining group in the maze will be whittling each other down.
[X] Execution()- Ok, not an actual execution, but... yeah, basically that. Just Breach() her and be done with it. Please, for the love of god, don't take that sentence out of context.
[X] King()- Saff. Just gank that fucker already, damn the maze to hell. You'll fix it yourself if need be, but right now, Saff needs his shit slapped so hard he gonna cry
[X] Regroup()- Safety in numbers. Find out where your friends are and stick the fuck together. Creme's a Faunus, night vision, she'll be fine, you have about ten squintillion different sensors packed into the Transistor, but Lumen's gonna be blind, and that is bad when you are possibly fighting for your lives. -[X] If possible take shots at Saff when we are able but only if it doesn't risk the structural integrity of the maze, just because this lunatic is careless enough to endanger everyone else here doesn't mean we are going to. But always leave some energy to potentially Jaunt/escape any trouble like say a wall falling on top of us. --[x] Start scanning for your allies to make it a bit easier on yourself as well as scan for Saff.
[X] Ally()- Go find someone to help you! Alliances are allowed, and as long as it's just two or three of you, you can make it into the top six without having to turn on each other. But who? (You can pick this twice.)
-[X] Creme- You... don't know much about her, but she's got a fuckoff huge hammer, axe, cannon thing, that she wields like an artisan when she focuses. Which, she doesn't do often. Besides, she's gonna get singled out by people for some reason, and that... it doesn't sit right with you.
-[X] Mini-Moss- Cool with his nickname, and cool with his weapon- a cavalry saber that becomes a proper sniper rifle, alongside a backup knife/pistol combo. Simple stuff, but brutal as shit if you underestimate him.
[X] Pawns()- Now, if you're counting right, not counting Saff, Salem, or your own group, there should be at most six other people in here. It's chucklefuck hunting season.
[X] {DON'T YOU DARE SO HELP ME I WILL PUBLISH YOUR SEARCH HISTORY-} - Come on. You know what this option is. You know you wanna do it. You just... gotta... whistle. Or, hum. Or, stay silent. Anything works, really. (Medium-High damage to several enemies in a radius, risk of blindsiding. Jaunt() mildly weakened for duration; -1 to dodge rolls.)
[X] {THIS IS SO DEMEANING-} - Use the Transistor as a shovel, help Lumen out. (Regain allies for next turn, resume defensive roles afterwards.) -[X] Ask Creme what's up with her semblance since she didin't use it to take out everyone out all at once and she totally could had. Transfering Kinetic energy is OP and we can rend space.
[X] No Turn(). [x] Ally's()- no, not actually Creme and Lumen. Just stick around with them, help them beat off whoever comes to beat them off- up, up. Freud has no power here.

[X] Enemy()- Scout out the competition. Gain insight into two other students that might be useable against them later.
[x] Turn().
-[x] Find the toughest motherfucker giving you troubles
-[x] Get behind (jaunt or walking)
-[x] Crush () up to x3 (backstab)
-[x] Breach () (backstab)
-[x] jaunt () into safety
[x] Repeat it until nobody left.
[x] Rely on your allies to keep your safe during Turn() recovery.
[x] And if they screw you, than you are the one stupid enough to not recognize they can't be trusted. Learn from it.

Feels like that's the case, doesn't it? Either that, Ozpin has some sort of crazy potential-radar, or he just doesn't care anymore and the entry requirement for Beacon is having the stones to apply for a school where your orientation consists of getting chucked off a cliff.
Hunter schools seem to be pretty self-selecting in that respect, I suspect - had Jaune's class replaced anyone in their group with someone with the rough level of competence as Jaune, somebody probably would have been killed or seriously injured in their artifact run (probably Jaune).
I'd argue that Ruby's inclusion could be justified to be more about her already having the combat skills to seriously hamper a robbery (though not stop it), if not necessarily the good sense on how to use them, but I don't know if that's the reason the show's writers would give.

My headcanon is that the only test that Beacon cares about is initiation. Survive the landing, get a partner? Fuck it, you're in. Because Beacon isn't about your grades, it's about killing Grimm. Work your ass off for a scholastic recommendation? Fine and good. Lie your way into the world's best and most famous institution for the training of people for the most dangerous, psychologically taxing job on the planet? That's not illegal, that's the proof that you've got what it takes to thrive. So yeah basically what you said but as institutional policy.
The Raven/Qrow thing (NOT THAT WAY YOU SICK FUCKS) was me pointing out that weird worldviews aren't disqualifying for huntsmen.
Wait, the roll's a D30? AWW YEAH WE GOT THIS.
Also you'd be shocked how creative programming terms can get, I totally bet you can find something appropriate for every Function you and us come up with.
Though, now that I think about it, Crash and Breach aren't programming terms per se, they're things that happen to programs, and given how they're derived in-game.... huh. That's delightfully suggestive.

It's a D30 because, honestly, you're replacing about 40 tons of concrete. On the scale you're going to be working on, those potatoes barely qualify as existing unless you're looking directly at them. Trust me, that +11 bonus is not going to be anywhere near as useful once things get going. Granted, you'll get larger bonuses as time goes on, but you're working quantum potatoes right now.
... Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew, all at the same time so long as they are not directly observed.
