Votes that do not follow the template will not be counted!

At this time I am using a counter system, listing the number of days votes take to be put into action. However for write-in votes you don't know how many days an action may take. For this we will use the old system of Major/Minor Decisions, and I will tell you how many days/weeks/months the plan will take. Remember that every month has 28 days, and that there are 13 months in the year with New Years as a special day alone outside the months. There is no leap year, as their calendar is not accurate to that degree.

Major decisions are any new endeavors. Finding new investments. Finding new allies (specify what type, where you're looking if possible, what you want from them, etc) finding new trainers, starting new training even if it is with people you already know... Anything new.

No mixing something that would qualify as a minor decision or free action into your major votes! If you have a question about your votes, ask me.

Talking with specific people about specific subjects. You can generally only talk with one person at a time with this. There are simple logical exceptions, Husband & Wife combos can be put together as one conversation, brother & sister, stuff like that. I'll clarify if a combo is unacceptable when I see the vote. This is also for continuing any long term action. Any major decision that you have already voted to start (not just mused about in-story) can be a minor action the next time around. Continuing training that you have already begun for example. Continuing a long-term investigation or plot. Stuff like this.

Making small talk with characters. You will not learn anything special really, but it gives you more insight into their backgrounds and history, can raise/lower their loyalty or other relationship points with you, etc. Raising/lowering and how much depends on rolls.

These can interrupt any current action(s) and will take precedence over the current plan. A way to change things on the fly as you discover new information or alternate ways to potentially enhance your plan, or change it completely if needed.

Remember for all votes if you take a guard or other individual with you, you will need to write-in which guard/person you take with you (just saying take a guard or ally will leave the decision of which one up to me) and also whether Daenerys tries to use any future knowledge on the decision as well if it is one of hers or she is present. (She still may decide to try and use her future knowledge without your consent if she thinks it necessary.) These details are sub-votes.

[] [Plan] X (Current Month, Short Term, Long Term, Immediate Actions, Purchases, etc.)
-[] Major Decisions: Character name here
--[] Major Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 1
--[] Major Decision 2
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 2
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 2
-[] Minor Decisions: Character name here
--[] Minor Decision 1

---[] Sub-conditions of Minor Decision 1
--[] Minor Decision 2
-[] Free Actions: Character name here
--[] Free Action 1
---[] Sub-conditions
--[] Free Action 2
---[] Sub-conditions

You get the jist of this.

However, under the plan vote, you will then put a "Priority" Vote.

[] Aegon Priority: 1. Major Decision 1, 2. Free Action 2, 3. Minor Decision 1, 4. Major Decision 2, etc.
[] Daenerys Priority: 1. Free Action 2, 2. Major Decision 3, 3. Minor Decision 1, etc.

This way we can vote on the general plan, then I can separate the order of events in said plan.

Don't put V1, V2, or any other such revision information into your plan. Just leave it like I have it. Nothing extra. The tally system will update to your newest post. No need to make version markers. It just makes things harder for me.

If an action in a plan is not one for a specific character, more a general idea of what needs to be done, it will still need to go into the priority matrix.

At the end of all your votes, put your reasons explaining your vote choice. As I've said before, a plan with reasons will get more weight than one without. Because reasons matter. I care about reasons more than numbers. I need reasons to help build the characters. Get used to putting reasons into your plans, as eventually reasons will become a requirement rather than a suggestion. This post will change when that occurs.

[] [Plan] X

You may (but are not required to) put additional reasons to agree with that plan beneath your vote if there are reasons for it that the original vote creator didn't put in that you thought of. The more/better the reasoning inside explaining a vote, the greater the chance it will be added into the story.

Votes are typically closed after either 12 or 24 hours unless real life interferes. Ties will be either decided by me, or by whoever is in the forum or the Discord that has not voted already at the time. I will @ whoever is currently in the forum or Discord that I choose to be the tiebreaker.

Plans have specific timelines. Immediate Actions are obviously immediate. Current Month is similarly self-explanatory. Short Term is something that can conceivably be done within 1-3 months, and Long Term is 3-6 months.

Continue your training with Daenerys and Matalarr.
Go to the markets and taverns, keep your ears on the ground, and try to fetch news from Westeros, Pentos and Viserys.
Look into the book you permanently borrowed stole from Illyrio, It must have some value to you. Otherwise the fat man wouldn't have included it in the gifts. (Binds with "experiment with Dragon Eggs" from prior vote.)

Freedom
Second Week of the Fifth Month 297 AC

Yesterday you chose to invest in the horse breeder, the tavern and the florist. The horse breeder could be very useful in your future, when you need horses of your own for a cavalry unit in your army, the tavern would serve as an expensive drinking location for the nobility, further boosting you into their ranks. You won't see any returns on any of this for a year, and then only if they succeed, but you don't have any taxes to pay for a year either. If you make enough successful investments, you might just be able to live off the interest and not require a normal method of producing income at all. The flower shop is well, barely going to be profitable, but every little bit helps and it would be a nice side project for Dany honestly. A small thing that doesn't hurt your wallet, but does bring a smile to her face. And if the flower she took to put in her hair is any indication, she is indeed happy with your choice.

Of course, just because you made Dany happy with the flower shop doesn't mean that she is going any easier on you in the training that the two of you continue to pursue. While your two swords mean that you have more avenues of attack than she does, her more traditional sword & shield style keeps her better protected. Matalarr has to hit you less now as you have become more adept at attacking her weak points, but it doesn't stop him from attacking the both of you, forcing you to get better in order to ward off the pain his strikes would cause.

These things though have become routine. What is not routine is the life you are living. Food on the table that you are beholden to no one for. Servants that serve you instead of others, What you need now is information. Westeros is always a threat, and Viserys has been lost to you. Now that you are somewhat settled, perhaps you can her news of both.

The tavern that you enter is The Lonely Lady. It used to be both a tavern and brothel, but the new owner got rid of the brothel after his wife started suspecting him of sleeping with his employees. Well, that's the rumor anyway.

It is a lightly lit room, mostly from the sun shining through the windows, with a few wenches working the tables and a rather portly man behind the counter, his slightly graying hair beginning to thin. His face is jovial though, and he has a hearty laugh that echoes throughout the room as you enter.

Matalarr immediately starts chatting up one of the serving girls, but you see that he is keeping an eye on you. It is only the two of you here, Daenerys remaining at home to watch the eggs in the fireplace (your first experiment the obvious one, to try heating the eggs as their dragon parents likely would have) and let you know if there are any signs of change. You'd have preferred to do it yourself, but you needed something to keep her busy while you were slogging though taverns. Some are seedy, others not so much, but you don't know one from the other yet and didn't want to risk taking her to a place where you might need to fight to protect her chastity.

Seeing a young man wearing too good clothes entering the tavern, some men smile. Likely thinking that you are another wealthy noble's child that they can swindle out of some of his father's coin. Unlike in jongleur's tales noble children don't generally end up getting killed in establishments like these. No, that's bad for business. Rather they get coaxed into gambling, and challenged to drinking to strongest of drinks, and made "friendly" enough to pay for drinks all around. They are a resource that these men know all too well how to use.

Fortunately your time begging on the streets means that you know how these things work, and so rather when you join them in their gambling, you also refuse the drink citing that "your lady wife" detests the smell on you. Disappointed that they cannot get you drunk, the regulars are more than eager to try and cheat you out of your coin. While you have little coin to lose, men focused on cheating are less focused on the tales their mouths tell, especially when they are being treated to the good ale rather than the common swill. It isn't long before you learn quite a few things about Braavos that may help you in your time here.

You learn that while Braavos allows temples to many gods in its city, at one time in the distant past someone, or a group of someones, attempted to create a temple to the ancient gods of Valyria. They were wise enough not to do so in the city itself, building it outside in a cave in the mountains but not wise enough to keep it secret from the people who at the time still had strong memories of Valyria.

Having been enslaved by the followers of those gods the people of Braavos immediately put the place to the flame, and slew the worshipers on the altars of their gods. The temple is outside the city however, built into the nearby hills. It is rumored to be haunted by the spirits of the dead, and curses from the gods of Valyria are rumored to trouble any who violate its halls.

While worship of Valyrian gods is no longer persecuted in Braavos, it is a very small religion indeed, for obvious historical reasons; and some Braavosi (mainly those who still hate Valyrians despite the long years between and never having been wrong themselves) look upon those who follow it as traitors, so no work has been done to restore it. Even those few eccentrics who wish to follow the Valyrian ways don't dare truly enter the temple ruins as they believe only one of Valyrian blood could safely do so. Rumors of lost Valyrian texts have caused some foolish few to brave ruins, but all died mysteriously soon after with nothing to show for their bravery. Your obviously Valyrian traits cause some speculation as to whether you will brave the ruins, but you simply say that you have other interests. This is interesting, but not what you came to find so you start asking other questions.

The current Sealord has issued new sanctions on trade with Lys. He is one of those who hate Valyrians for imagined slights in the present, and for real slights in the past. That Lys still allows slavery just gives his hatred more validity, despite that he is willing to trade with other cities that also use slave labor. You suspect that if you ever hope to truly rise high in Braavos the Sealord will be a constant political enemy, unless you can somehow prove to him that you are different from your ancestors. Of course, Sealords only serve for life, and the position is not hereditary. While being caught is a plotting against one is a crime, it is well known that people in Braavos will often seek to speed up the end of a Sealord's reign in order to enact policy changes...

Rumors of problems in the city's underbelly are floating around as well. Every city has its thugs, but someone seems to be attempting to organize them into a serious force. Businesses in areas rarely patrolled by the city guard are reportedly being charged "protection fees". Requesting aid from the guard was fruitless, as the nobles demanded that the number of guards in their areas and the main marketplace be increased half again at the news, leaving even less guards to look into other areas of the city.

You yourself have shown some propensity for the "roguish" arts, and they have proven profitable once before. Perhaps you could look into these rumors and see about joining this "organization" in search of profit. Or you might try striking up one such organization of your own. On the other hand, hunting this group down and bringing them to justice could also increase your prestige in the city. Both would be dangerous, but boil down to a choice between profit and prestige.

As you try to get more information from abroad the gamblers laugh and say you'd have better luck getting that from the docks than the taverns or markets. Most in the markets import their goods yes, but they don't travel themselves. There are town criers in the docks who are paid by the city to tell of news from around the world that is heard from the sailors, but you know that those tales are likely colored in whatever light the leaders of Braavos want to cast them in. If anything, you either need to get your own news from the sailors themselves. Either through befriending them, or by paying them outright to bring news whenever they arrive in port.

Befriending the sailors would take time, and you are already spread thin on that, but it would mean that they would likely learn more about what particular information you want to find. Paying them would be faster, but you couldn't trust someone who is not a friend, someone you are simply paying with the exact details of what you are trying to learn. Anyone who will take gold from you will also take it from Robert, so you would need to not reveal information to them that would help them get what you most want to hear, but instead merely get whatever information is most widespread. Then again, if they are looking for specific information, they might miss something you didn't think to tell them to look for that could be potentially useful to know. It boils down to another choice. Spend time making friends for more pointed information, or spend money for more general information?

Your search for information was a bit costly, as you weren't as good at gambling as you hoped. You lost 15 SD in total after gambling and buying the expensive wine, but it did get you some valuable information. Having at least somewhat succeeded at your self-appointed task, you head home to look in on the eggs and the book you stole from Illyrio.

You come home to a very excited Daenerys. She has kept the fire in the basement going hot, and is sure that the eggs look slightly less petrified than they were before. You're not so sure, until she points out the stone dust that is in the ashes from the burning wood. As far as you can tell, it could have come from nothing else. Still, you know that you would not have been the first to try this. If fire is indeed the key, you know it is only the first. How many other things will you need to do once the eggs are free from their stony covering, and what are they?

Best to plan what you'll do next.

Major Decisions
Choose Three
[] Write-in. I've given you some quest hooks here. Follow them or not. Your choice. If you go on a quest or other thing, make a sub-vote. The main vote is the quest, the sub-vote is who comes with you. Dany, Boromund, Matalarr are options for now. More when you get more party members or hired guards.

Minor Decisions
Choose Two
[] Talk with Dany about something:
- [] Topic sub-vote: Write-in.

You can talk with other people too. The lady at the bank whose name you still don't know, Boromund, Matalarr, your two servants, strangers on the street... Take your pick. If you talk with the lady at the bank, minor topics only. No making alliance plans and whatnot. That would be major decisions. Small talk.

Important: Do note that the following only matters in the actual votes. Feel free to speak however in normal forum posts. Not about to police you guy's speech. Just pointing out that I build the character from the votes, so keep this in mind when doing those in particular.

Remember that vote descriptions are IC, even if the votes themselves are OOC. I said before, Aegon knows that he stole the book, and that you could not run from that fact. So unless you want to start building some kind of weird self-deception mindset in his head (which would have its own consequences; self-deception in a line that has insanity as a trait that shows up fairly often is probably not a good idea, especially considering how close you rolled to being insane yourselves - but if you want to risk it, I'll write it and let the rolls decide how far it goes) I would avoid lying to yourselves about what you have done. It will lead to other lies to yourself later, about far less "harmless" things.

I warned about this before if you recall. The next time Aegon runs from his actions in a vote description I am going to build that into his character. Remember what I told you about votes when I first asked you to write the whys and hows into them. "Reasons are important." Well, so are thought processes. Thoughts lead to actions after all.

The same goes for descriptions of people. If you have him calling Illyrio "fat man" all the time, then the character will start using those same insults, and it won't be limited to Illyrio, he'll start seeing people superficially. Votes determine the character. Not just what he does, but why he does it and what he thinks. I specifically said I wanted you to write in your reasons for voting because of this, so this shouldn't be a surprise. I'm giving you all the benefit of the doubt this time, but if you actually want Aegon to pick on people for their weight, lie to himself about what he does, etc... Then write that in the votes, and I'll adjust his character accordingly.

Again, this only is true in vote posts. Not in you guys just talking and whatnot. I want to ensure I build Aegon's character the way you intend. Not from incorrect assumptions due to what I assume are joking statements. So keep the jokes in the forum, (needs to be a fun place) but out of the vote descriptions. Keep those serious, so I know how Aegon is supposed to be thinking. Also keep this in mind for other characters. I'm going to start including votes for people like Daenerys, so you'll be able to mold her character too by how you present her thoughts and reasons in her votes when she has them. Trying to give you all more control over your characters.

Also, whether you noticed it or not, the character sheets have updates.

A horse breeder is trying to design a new breed of horse. Stronger, faster, larger. - Cost 50 Dragons - Reward 200 Dragons/year - Braavos Prestige +50 - Odd of success 45/100
A new tavern is going to open in Braavos. Maybe some extra funding could make the place a high class watering hole instead of a normal hangout for the common folk. - Cost 350 Dragons - Reward 500 Dragons/year - Braavosi Prestige +75 - Odds of success 50/100

Small Investments:
Help front a small flower shop. - Cost 2 Dragons - Reward 5 Dragons/year - Braavosi Prestige +15 - Odds of success 75/100
So, I think we beat all of these, by the tiniest of margins?

I-uh, mostly did it for giggles, and I called him the 'Fat man' because I forgot his name... Heh, sorry about that.

Nope. 50/100 means you need a 51. You failed ever so slightly on the tavern.

You passed the horse breeder. 45/100 means... 100(total)-45(chances for victory)=55(chances for loss). Beat 55 and you win.

So for the tavern, 100-50=50. Need higher than a 50 to win.

I don't care what you call him, outside the vote. The vote is how I determine character info. I figured it was a joke or something so I let it slide this time, just giving you guys more control of the character. Make votes in joking manners and Aegon becomes more of a jokester. Insulting manners and he insults those people. In his head if not out loud. Gives you more reign over his personality.

You guys are picking who he is, not just what he does. I'm trying to be clear so you get the character you design, not strict so that you follow my orders.

To be more clear, it is the vote itself where you have to be this clear. Your explanations are not subject to this, except when I am questioning whether you have a good IC reason for the voted option, and you are providing IC answers to that question.

[X] Meet with the various less prosperous merchants in the city and attempt to organize a guild. If there's enough coin to pay "protection money," surely together these men and women could organize enough coin to protect themselves and negotiate better contracts together.
-[X] First research any laws related to the formation of such an organization. In fact become more familiar with any and all laws/regulations concerning trade and business in Bravos. (Unless I missed something, Aegon doesn't actually know all that much about business or commerce.)
[X] Gather/meet with the few Valyrian worshipers within Braavos. As a religious minority looked down upon by the current Sealord, they would likely welcome some leadership and aid.
[X] Take stock of your household.
-[X] Jaehaelyx and Saenera: See how they are adjusting. Check if they need/want anything to help them with their duties.
-[X] Boromun: Ask how he and his men are doing. Does he have anything to report?
-[X] The farm: Did any workers come forward in response to your call? If they did what can you get them to start on?

Minor Decisions
[X] Talk with Dany about something:
-[X] What are her thoughts about your new situation in life. Does she have anything she wants to tell you or some opinion on your current plans? (She is the last of our family and future queen/wife. She should have a chance to express her own views to Aegon.)
[X] Train with Matalaar and Dany.

We're honestly too poor to try anything dramatic. We don't want to do anything that might damage our reputation in the city and organizing a guild in order to deal with problems that the city government as a whole can't or won't is a common tradition in Medieval society. Moreover, it wasn't uncommon for middle class merchants to be decent soldiers/militia given that they tended to be the ones who could afford armor/weapons when the city called for them. I suspect these merchants getting harassed if they got together would be pretty effective as a neighborhood watch and it'll give us a decent power base to grow from.

If we could convince the merchants to arm and provide jobs for the few Valyrian worshipers we can find, even better. We now have an economic base in the form of a Merchant's Guild and a political base in terms of the Valyrian worshipers.

Train with Matalarr, is that with Dany or without? Put that in. You might decide you don't like her learning this after all and try to stop her lessons...

Thanks added in!

Nah, might as well teach her if it's a free action. I'm sure she can tell us she wants to stop learning if she really found it distasteful. Moreover, at the very least it'll have side benefits like teaching her how to move gracefully which would help her when Aegon and her finally show up in a public setting.

Discussion:
I'm all for adventure and expanding our influence, but we can't forget to keep in touch with those already in our lives. A good head of house makes sure their people/dependents are well taken care of and performing their jobs adequately. Unless we have a steward or other assistant then the responsibility falls to us (Aegon).

I'm not saying that we need to micromanage our holdings but regular status updates would let us keep things running smoothly. :)

Major Decisions
Choose Three
[X] Meet with the various less prosperous merchants in the city and attempt to organize a guild. If there's enough coin to pay "protection money," surely together these men and women could organize enough coin to protect themselves and negotiate better contracts together.
[X] Gather/meet with the few Valyrian worshipers within Braavos. As a religious minority looked down upon by the current Sealord, they would likely welcome some leadership and aid.
[X] Go to the cave of the Valyrian Gods, seek their favor.
- [X] Bring Dany and Matalarr with you, both are of Valyrian blood, so they might be useful.
- [X] Bring the book we stole from Ilyrio, but keep it under lock and key and eye under all times. We Don't want to lose it, a feeling tells us.

[X] Talk with Dany about something:
- [X] About our Dreams, or maybe Visions? You aren't sure... Yet. Ask her if she has had any, we need to know.
- [X] Ask how she fares under our new living conditions. Is she having any trouble sleeping? (Subtly inquire what she was doing while we slept in the boat)
[X] Train with Matalaar and Dany.
- [X] Try your hand at Archery, or maybe abattlewhip? They seem more elegant.

-[X] First research any laws related to the formation of such an organization. In fact become more familiar with any and all laws/regulations concerning trade and business in Bravos. (Unless I missed something, Aegon doesn't actually know all that much about business or commerce.)

[X] Everything about our house and the old ways comes always back to fire and Blood. Draw inspiration from it and as we can't obviously burn the book we could try the blood on it.

[X] Take stock of your household.

People whats the point of looking for worshippers of the valyrian gods? They are despised in Braavos better to try and get sorcery and then just raid the old temple...

Well Egg and Dany are both worshippers of said gods, so meeting with their fellow worshippers would allow them to get a better feel for how they (valyrian god worshippers) are treated in the city.

Also 'raiding' a place dedicated to the gods you supposedly worship might not be such a good idea. Once again the local Val-god worshippers might know more about the abandoned temple, even if they aren't willing to brave the place themselves.

All that being said I do agree about exploring sorcery. The problem is that we have very few leads on how to do that (The best bet I think we have is the mysterious book). But since we've had little to no success so far we should first try to expand our knowledge of the culture behind the book. So once again we must delve into our Valyrian roots.

To progress I think we need to gain as much useful knowledge as we can. To open up opportunities to gain that knowledge we need contacts. Maybe it will pan out, maybe it won't, but tackling the supposed cursed temple as we are now is a bit reckless in my opinion.

The temple isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Lets solidify our position and improve our character before risking a dungeon crawl.

Don't expect an update for two days. I'm supposed to be climbing Mt. Fuji this weekend. Not gonna be typing things obviously. If I get enough votes in though, I'll try and do one more update before the drive down there.
