#StickiedForAReason
Votes that do not follow the template will not be counted!

At this time I am using a counter system, listing the number of days votes take to be put into action. However for write-in votes you don't know how many days an action may take. For this we will use the old system of Major/Minor Decisions, and I will tell you how many days/weeks/months the plan will take. Remember that every month has 28 days, and that there are 13 months in the year with New Years as a special day alone outside the months. There is no leap year, as their calendar is not accurate to that degree.

Major decisions are any new endeavors. Finding new investments. Finding new allies (specify what type, where you're looking if possible, what you want from them, etc) finding new trainers, starting new training even if it is with people you already know... Anything new.

No mixing something that would qualify as a minor decision or free action into your major votes! If you have a question about your votes, ask me.

Talking with specific people about specific subjects. You can generally only talk with one person at a time with this. There are simple logical exceptions, Husband & Wife combos can be put together as one conversation, brother & sister, stuff like that. I'll clarify if a combo is unacceptable when I see the vote. This is also for continuing any long term action. Any major decision that you have already voted to start (not just mused about in-story) can be a minor action the next time around. Continuing training that you have already begun for example. Continuing a long-term investigation or plot. Stuff like this.

Making small talk with characters. You will not learn anything special really, but it gives you more insight into their backgrounds and history, can raise/lower their loyalty or other relationship points with you, etc. Raising/lowering and how much depends on rolls.

These can interrupt any current action(s) and will take precedence over the current plan. A way to change things on the fly as you discover new information or alternate ways to potentially enhance your plan, or change it completely if needed.

Remember for all votes if you take a guard or other individual with you, you will need to write-in which guard/person you take with you (just saying take a guard or ally will leave the decision of which one up to me) and also whether Daenerys tries to use any future knowledge on the decision as well if it is one of hers or she is present. (She still may decide to try and use her future knowledge without your consent if she thinks it necessary.) These details are sub-votes.

[] [Plan] X (Current Month, Short Term, Long Term, Immediate Actions, Purchases, etc.)
-[] Major Decisions: Character name here
--[] Major Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 1
--[] Major Decision 2
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 2
---[] Sub-conditions of Major Decision 2
-[] Minor Decisions: Character name here
--[] Minor Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Minor Decision 1
---[] Sub-conditions of Minor Decision 1
--[] Minor Decision 2
-[] Free Actions: Character name here
--[] Free Action 1
---[] Sub-conditions
--[] Free Action 2
---[] Sub-conditions

You get the jist of this.

However, under the plan vote, you will then put a "Priority" Vote.

[] Aegon Priority: 1. Major Decision 1, 2. Free Action 2, 3. Minor Decision 1, 4. Major Decision 2, etc.
[] Daenerys Priority: 1. Free Action 2, 2. Major Decision 3, 3. Minor Decision 1, etc.

This way we can vote on the general plan, then I can separate the order of events in said plan.

Don't put V1, V2, or any other such revision information into your plan. Just leave it like I have it. Nothing extra. The tally system will update to your newest post. No need to make version markers. It just makes things harder for me.

If an action in a plan is not one for a specific character, more a general idea of what needs to be done, it will still need to go into the priority matrix.

At the end of all your votes, put your reasons explaining your vote choice. As I've said before, a plan with reasons will get more weight than one without. Because reasons matter. I care about reasons more than numbers. I need reasons to help build the characters. Get used to putting reasons into your plans, as eventually reasons will become a requirement rather than a suggestion. This post will change when that occurs.

[] [Plan] X

You may (but are not required to) put additional reasons to agree with that plan beneath your vote if there are reasons for it that the original vote creator didn't put in that you thought of. The more/better the reasoning inside explaining a vote, the greater the chance it will be added into the story.

Votes are typically closed after either 12 or 24 hours unless real life interferes. Ties will be either decided by me, or by whoever is in the forum or the Discord that has not voted already at the time. I will @ whoever is currently in the forum or Discord that I choose to be the tiebreaker.

Plans have specific timelines. Immediate Actions are obviously immediate. Current Month is similarly self-explanatory. Short Term is something that can conceivably be done within 1-3 months, and Long Term is 3-6 months.

[X] Leave Pentos, immediately. You'll have to either hope someone is leaving with a ship tonight, or wake someone. You'll already be paying them more for getting them to leave on short notice, and doubtless even more for waking them at such an hour besides. If you fail to find anyone however, you'll need to take shelter elsewhere. (The vote will defer to whichever of the other two options won.) You decide to try and take a ship to:
- [X] Lys - The blood of Old Valyria still runs strong here. You could blend in very easily and lose any pursuit from both the Usurper and Illyrio. However, slavers are a constant danger. Until you've gotten yourself some of your own for protection anyway. You have a fortune now, and flesh is cheap in Lys.

Lys is a good place to go. It's risky, but for the same reasons its risky for anyone else to go there. I honestly doubt that slavers are walking down the street and picking up whoever they want, wouldn't be a city if it was like that.

In Lys we could start building a powerbase VERY quickly with the gold we have. Guards, pleasure slaves, crafts slaves, all are within easy access.
What would we get in Braavos? Trade? That's not how you build an empire. We have plenty gold, just need to find the RIGHT things to spend it on.

@Lurkers - So, I see a LOT of votes on the "end game goals" but nowhere near as many people actually voting on things in the quest. People, the quest is driven by the players. The poll was for you all so you could see where the quest was headed and play accordingly, but if you want certain things but don't vote in-story... Well, it doesn't matter how many people vote for "Create a new empire, forget the past and forge your own destiny." if the only people playing are the ones who voted "Rebuild fallen Valyria." Basically, I'll keep this going with as few or as many people as are playing, but if you want the quest to go in the direction you seem interested in, you need to start voting. Up to you though.
I think because this is so early in the quest people like me come in and see the poll and read the posts but have no particular interest in being active participants this early

True. But you also need to remember that Aegon's personality is being built by these early chapters. Depending on what all gets done in these early chapters (becoming a merchant vs making a sellsword company) and more importantly how it gets done (they may get more recruits if they say they are planning an expedition to clear out Valyria) certain aspects may no longer become viable. You're hardly going to "forget the past" if you tell your mercenaries that you're planning on reclaiming Valyria. They wouldn't take the sudden change in goals well.

That isn't to say that these are who is currently actively playing. I'm just putting the possibility out there, so that way if things happen to go that way, people can't say they weren't warned. There's a chance everything goes the way they need, there's a chance it doesn't. The only sure way is to be active.

That said, I'm writing the next update now so...

I suppose, but I'd also say that lots of the goals seemed rather alien given the situation. If Aegon had been in danger for a large part of his life, rather than in Illyrio's manse then maybe 'survive' would be more logical. I think the only one there that made sense from the IC perspective is to reclaim the Iron Throne, and possibly something about Valyria. People don't tend to say 'I'm going to go conquer a new empire' or some of the other objectives. But I do get your point about things being important early on.

The poll is OOC decisions on where the quest will go, not IC decisions. It is so that I as QM can craft situations where the character could feasibly change their goals in life. But yeah, you have a point.

Does anyone know the various types of coinage in the Free Cities? I'm drawing a blank of what they call their various currencies. Obviously for now I need the coinage of Pentos, but the rest will probably be useful later too.

Screw it. I'll make something up for now and change it later if anyone knows for certain. I've seen Iron Marks used for Braavos and Lysene Ladies used for Lys. Pentos is famed for its towers so...

I am kinda salty that retake the Iron Throne isn't winning.

Each of these cities use their own coinage. It is unknown how they relate to one another in value. Braavosi use square iron coins, [42][43], while Lyseni coins are oval in shape and have a naked woman stamped on them.[42] Volantisemploys honors, which are little coins no larger than a penny. These coins have a crown on one side, and a skull on the other.[42][44] From the Slaver Cities, Meereenese coins include honors,[32] while the Yunkai'i use golden marks which are stamped with a stepped pyramid on one side and the harpy of Ghis on the other.[45] Astapor uses silver marks.[46]
Other coins, for which no region is specified, have ships, elephants, or goats[47] depicted on them.[42]

Late Night Trips Are Expensive
Winning Votes

An ancient book full of text and imagery of what looks like Old Valyria written in High Valyrian alongside a list of names.

Leave Pentos, immediately. You'll have to either hope someone is leaving with a ship tonight, or wake someone. You'll already be paying them more for getting them to leave on short notice, and doubtless even more for waking them at such an hour besides. If you fail to find anyone however, you'll need to take shelter elsewhere. You decide to try and take a ship to Braavos. It is a city of merchants and your newfound wealth could be put to use there becoming one. You will stand out here more than in Lys or Pentos, but here everything has a price.

Late Night Trips Are Expensive

The streets of Pentos are quiet this night. You have to pass near to the slums to get to the docks, (though not into the slums) and this late there is every chance of being set upon by some drunken sots or thieves looking for easy prey. You get stopped once by a man thinking that two children on the cusp of adulthood and one young unarmed man would be easy prey. The "fight" that ensued when he tried to rob you could barely be called that however. He swung at you from the shadows, probably thinking to take out the younger of the males with one surprise attack then deal with the elder alone, but your violet eyes caught a flicker of movement and you only just managed to get out of the way of his short sword.

Dany surprisingly, was the first to react, and react she did. With a surprising show of strength and hostility, (frankly the most emotion you've seen out of her in weeks) she swung her bag of treasure at the man's head and from the hollow thunk that resounded, it seems as if the stone inside was what caught him. The would-be thief went down and you and Viserys finished him off rather easily. After looking at Daenerys with a surprised expression on your face, to which she doesn't respond. Her face has returned to its normal passive expression, but there is a subtle hint of determination in her eyes that wasn't there before. You can only hope this has, in a backhanded sort of way, helped her and that she'll come out of the shell she's hid herself in soon.

The docks are supposedly one whole section of the city, but they are "unofficially" broken into two segments. On one end the "respectable" captains dock, vetted captains who have a reputation and can be trusted not to give into temptation on the seas and rob their vulnerable passengers. On the other end; well every port city has its smugglers and pirates. So long as they pay their docking fees and don't pirate the ships of Pentos, they are... tolerated. After all, if the wealth of other cities somehow finds its way to Pentos who's to say how it got there?

Since there are only three of you and in spite of her actions tonight, both you and Viserys would prefer not to have Dany in a situation where she might have to defend herself, you head for the more respectable side of the docks. The trip will be more expensive of course, but also you'll be riding in relative safety. While both sides of the docks tend to be captained by former members of Pentos' navy, and thus know their way around both ship and canon; those in the respectable quarter tend to be the members who retired honorably, while those in the "common" quarter were more than likely kicked out for some infraction or other.

As you prowl the docks looking for ships that are hanging lower in the water (you hope that means that they are full of cargo and are thus ready to leave) you spy one ship about to leave port. You hail it and are surprised to find that it is headed to Braavos, your chosen destination. Your luck is holding this night, it seems. The captain is a no nonsense type and tells you straight. I've only one extra room, and it isn't the best quality. It'll hold the three of you and your things however. For 50 silver steeples, you can have the room. Another 5 each for food and drink if you aren't carrying your own in there.

You and Viserys agree to the prices and are allowed on board. The captain will want his money before he casts off though he is willing to give you time to go through your bags and "find your moneybag" that your sister "accidentally packed with the clothes". Once you get into the small room, you take a look around.

It is bare, as expected. There are two beds and small desk. Enough open space to move around comfortably, and a small stand that Dany can use to change behind when she needs to dress. Viserys gathers some coins and heads back out to pay the captain and talk with him for a bit, telling the two of you to get settled and that he'll guard the door for the night. He still wants you to bar it though. Respectable part of the port or no, there's always the chance that a new member of the crew might not be so unscrupulous as the captains in this part of the docks, and he'd rather you had time to wake and be prepared to defend Dany if the worst should happen and he is unable to deter any thievery.

You'd prefer that he remain in the room behind the bar with the two of you, but he will not be deterred. "I'm the head of your Kingsguard, nephew. In situations like this, I give you orders. I'll guard the door." Seeing that he won't relent you sigh in resignation and agree. You drift off just as you feel the ship beginning to move out of port. 'Safe,' you think to yourself. And you hope you'll remain that way for some time.

Lost 65 Silver Steeples from your unknown small to medium fortune.

The journey from Pentos to Braavos will take 1-2 weeks depending on the winds. What will you do with your time on the ship?

Choose Three
[] Talk with Dany, try to draw her out of her shell.
[] Practice your skills with Viserys
[] Write-in

I'll need at least two/three different write-in btw. Also, the map I'm using for the campaign is here.

We're a bastard, that means even LESS support. Why waste time? Plus, you want to deal with the Throne?

We are not a bastard.

Rhegar set aside his marriage with Elia of Dorne and lawfully married Lyanna under a Heart Tree. That's why the King's guard were at Tower of Joy instead Ruby ford with Rhegar. They were protecting the heir of Seven Kingdoms

Uh huh.

Suuuuure that marriage was legally binding. And if you believe THAT....

Hey! Its our chair! plus it'll be fun before we ascend to god hood

By the time we get it, we'd get it for a week, tops, before the Walkers kill us.

[X] Study the book you borrowed from Illyrio.
[X] Practice your skills with Viserys
[X] Talk to the captain of the ship after making sure that you have a strong alibi. Rehearse your story with Dany and Viserys first.
[] Observe the sailors as they do their duties and try to learn from them.

@Lunasmeow here are a few write-ins.

All marriages are legally binding so long as they are done in the proper custom. Just as a real life christian can't claim a marriage done by a muslim priest isn't a marriage, the kingdoms can't say a marriage before the Old Gids isn't a marriage. The Old Gods may not be the *dominant* religion of the kingdoms, but it is one of the *accepted* religions. That's my ruling.

Also I stated in the first chapter "You are the trueborn son..."

However, you will have to convince the rest of westwros that this ceremony happened. Although having Dany and Viserys to vouch for it helps a lot.

Considering that the book isn't gonna be finished in your lifetime..... :V

Also @Lunasmeow did you see the write-ins I provided ?
I do indeed see them.

@BloodyMagpie Also, while I agree that show canon is not book canon, this quest will be something of a mixture of the two. Also, the books aren't finished and I'm not going to bother twisting the quest to match new information that comes out from the books later. Illyrio's plot for example. It is what it is now and forever. I've decided what that plot it, you have ideas but not the whole thing, it may happen to end up the same as R.R. Martin plans, but also may not. If whatever comes out can fit reasonably well without too much difficulty, I'll include things. But I'm not going to bend over backwards.

So to all involved, final word - Aegon is not a bastard. Westeros will need to be convinced of this, but he is not a bastard.

I think he meant it was not a valid marriage since Rhaegar already had a wife..
Correct, and they didn't divorce properly.

Having three blonde haired and purple eyed royals, two supporting the claim of the third, is far more convincing than only one who has been in disguise his whole life.
Yes, because 3 people totaly are going to convince people to risk their necks in a rebellion without anything backing them.

You seem to be thinking that I'm comparing Aegon and Jon? And no one was. No one even mentioned Jon. Merely the claim of whether or not Aegon was a bastard.

Aegon would be more convincing, yes. But just having blond hair and purple eyes is not enough. The blood of Old Valyria runs strong in Lys. And house Velaryon and house Celtigar. It takes more than simple features to be recognized as a member of House Targaryen. Which is why having Dany and Viserys to vouch for you is key. This is mentioned in canon also where either Illyrio or Varys (I forget which) mentioned needing Dany for their Aegon, the "mummers dragon" because her lineage was unquestionable. They mentioned that if she accepted him as consort, the claim would be solid, if not, Westeros would laugh him off as a pretender.

I know you mentioned having the other two vouch for you, just pointing out that things can happen and you never know that they will still be beside you if this ever comes up. They can die you realize? And Viserys was about to turn traitor on you with Illyrio, leaving at best Dany on your side and Viserys against, and that only if you convinced her. You could have ended up on your own. If you did have Dany for and Viserys against, it would have potentially ended up as a second "Dance of Dragons" situation.

Basically, Dany and Viserys are your absolute best bet at convincing the Seven Kingdoms of your legitimacy, so if you want that I'd suggest keeping them alive and loyal.
