There was also the thought of speaking to Laena (read: doing our very best to dissuade her from ever agreeing to a Daemon match or giving the man children). Upside of opening negotiations with Qoren: Laena and Vhagar will be sticking around.
Definitely would really like to speak to her just in general from how we helped prevent her marriage to Viserys, trying to keep her from getting married to Daemon is another thing on top. Seems to be a bit of a trend, Rhaenyra trying to keep Laena from getting married to our dad and uncle.

Btw it's so funny how Rhaenyra, Alicent and him had to be together in the same room once and he immediately clocked her :rofl: goes to show how obvious it is that Rhaenyra's smitten when people aren't willfully "they were best friends"'ing her lol

It doesn't exactly help that Alicent was acting like a swooning maiden at Rhaenyra's harp performance. :V

Hm, yeah, okay.

[X] Take His Hand (Begin Marriage Negotiations With Qoren Martell)

Tarly trained us to be a warrior queen, so I guess we'll have to conquer the Triarchy instead. We didn't steal the "Knight of the Dragonflies" title from our descendants, but maybe we can steal "Breaker of Chains"!

I also still find it extremely funny how Ser Tarly is going to be punching the air, knowing damn well how Rhaenyra's warrior ways led her to be rizzed up by a Dornish Prince. He's probably already preparing his whole screaming spiel at the Kingsguards tower in his head

If he gaslights himself enough, he can convince himself this still means Dorne fell to the Andal(?) might... it was just... not the might he was thinking about...

I'm still believer on marrying Gwayne because by taking him by Husband we ensure Alicent Will always stay with Rhaenyra. Otto wouldn't be able to find a higher Honour and between the Two siblings and His New Queen he would be forced to accept Alicent Never marrying

And Is one marriage that would be safe/boring in terms of sociopolitical impact. The Status Quo with everyone stays the same as It Is currently

By biggest issues with Martell Is that nothing stops Otto from taking Alicent away from Rhaenyra, and may piss off a lot of important houses in the Stormlands and the Reach, some of the biggest Kingdoms in the South

This isn't a Permanent path so...

It would be nice to tie the Hightowers into the Dornish alliance somehow so they have a reason not to side with the rest of the reach in the event that Daemon takes a page out of his Blackfyre descendant's book. Next time we have a free turn, I think looking for a good dornish wife for Gwayne could be a good use of our time.

If I recall correctly, Qoren had a sister that was mentioned as a marriage candidate for dear old dad...

We have no right to determine who Gwayne and Alicent marry unless we choose to marry Gwayne ourselves. Beyond that, we must rely on whatever other leverage and powers of persuasion we have.

I think Rhaenyra would be better off taking a page out of Vyseris's book and letting Gwayne choose his own marriage, now that he's not marrying us. We can be available for advise if he asks it, but we should prioritize his aspirations.

Pretty much yeah
But having for leverage "His son married the literal Future Queen and thanks to that your blood with inherit the Iron Throne" Is quite a Big one with someone obsessed with having His blood Won over Rhaenyra's in canon

It seems Gwayne wasn't speaking to the fourth wall blatantly enough.

"You are the heir, not the queen!" Gwayne retorted. "You can't just force everyone to do what you want."

We will have to anyway in that case. Though it is by no means settled that we will marry Qoren now. Honestly, it would just come off really bad if we do let him come all that way here, everything in the talks is nice and productive and then we still say no. That would just be weird, and in a rude way, too. If we say no, it'd be better to do over some snag in the negotiations.

I like this idea. A snag in the negotiation. How do we create one? 🤩🤔
