The Path Unending (A Cultivation Quest)

I don't have any idea what's happening
If I'm understanding right, this is a metaphorical dream sequence of our present situation. The Garden of Beasts is the timeloop and Zhi's investigation into it, the mistakes are equivalent to missteps made during our investigation so far (because we lacked critical information, mostly) and "Zhuan Kun" is the hostile intellect behind the loops, the existence of one of those being critical information. Zhi was too obvious in going about things, and has been identified as a threat for removal. However, he was able to successfully channel the attack into cycling Anam, and so will not explode.

Lets analyze our options a little. The three choices presumably mean we end up interacting with one of our techniques, specifically Northern Auroch Onslaught, Warhounds Cry, and Sear.

If it's just a smiple cycle check, then Warhounds Cry would be the worst choice since it doesn't change the action number needed for integration. Otherwise it doesn't make a big difference if we choose NAO or Sear. But the modification interpretation is more interesting.

We originally got Sear to quickly integrate it as a means to increase our Wit stat, which would allow us to upgrade our Charmcrafting stat further. Making it mono Fire also played into that a bit. The other benefit of the modification was that we can later include one of our core aspects if it's a mono tech.

If we vote for it here, then integration gets tougher and we get a tech modification that would have happened down the line. It honestly sounds more bad than good to me.

Warhounds Cry is a tech thst connects us to Nokai and her hounds. Fully integrating the technique also allows us to keep our current spiritual talent modifier when we change forms. So we could get back into bronze mode for another action per turn.

Changing its aspect would once more make integration more action consuming. This will be very important once we are at the Heart again and need to cycle a lot to finally reach Farmer. Someone also brought up that combining Sound and Time might be a bad idea due to Rags, which is also a great point.

Northern Auroch Onslaught is one of our core combat techniques. Its main value is it's power in battle. NAO was recently changed, so modifying it again feels a bit bad due to it. At the same time the potential increase in combat power could very well make up for it.

Due to all this, I think we should go with the bull option for this one.

[X] A fire burning through the forest.

Please let this be a Time integration, otherwise we'll probably never get any kind of non-stat use from this technique.

Same reason I voted to strip it, I care about this technique the least so I don't mind throwing it into an rng blender.

[X] A fire burning through the forest.

This seems the most interesting to me. If we are adding time the combo seems most fun and in this situation I like the imagery here the best

Neither a challenge or a physical charge, no this is a forest fire, a destructive force of nature. I feel like it has more Gravitas and gells better with our Core, the FORGE

Our one Fire technique is uniquely prepared to accept new anam that is more closely aligned with Kong Zhi.
That sells it to me. Having a roar that can travel through time sounds awesome, but upgrading a basic fire skill seems too good to pass up.

"Challenging your might in the Garden?" I answer, a wry smile on my face.

The noble either doesn't hear the joke in my voice, or doesn't care for it. "It is never a mistake to strive," he answers, taking me completely seriously. "Only cowards avoid battles they may lose. To succeed at anything, one must challenge themselves, even if it's against foes so overwhelming that it seems defeat is inevitable. Only by fighting in those battles can one win those battles."
I let out a low breath as the pressure grows, pushing at my shoulders. "It… was there a move I should have done instead?" I ask.

"Perhaps," he answers. Still, he does not look at me. "But all that matters are the moves you made."
"Our game has been enjoyable in its own way," the figure masquerading as my friend states. "I have enjoyed our time. But every piece reaches the end of its usefulness- and some must be cast aside before they can truly be used."

<Boredom. Hunger. Anger.>

"It does not matter how useful a piece was in the past. In the name of victory, everything can be sacrificed."

[X] A hound bellowing out a warcry.

Crazy thought: This entity isn't Time, its Fate. Fate specifically feels bad/adversarial to us and the entity here has a fixation on victory even the face of the seemingly impossible. Army Ever Victorious/Fate is opposed to the Symphony/Time in some way, so where one would have influence it might make sense for the other to.

Even if this is true, it seems better to shunt that into a technique with 'spare room' than try and crowd it into Warhound's Cry. It also might need to be purged before it does something unpleasant to Zhi and we have significant sentimental attachment to Warhound's Cry, so I'd rather do it with something else.

Like, you could be right, but that seems all the more reason to not pick Warhound's Cry.
