Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

What we did went a bit beyond clearing the area. I'm not saying did anything wrong based on what we knew at the time, but we did basically keep pressing because we could.
Partially yes, but the rationale was to at least try to eliminate the threat via conversion.. How many people could have known and warned Molly not only about the existence of the Neverborn, but that they might have 4 shards? I think only heaven and hell and they decided not to try to stop one of the most likely candidates for detonation. Maybe they thought Molly was not that risky...

In any case, our line of defense is important now, because we will continue to adhere to it. And yes, if someone will accuse us of disrupting the masquerade, we will remind the others how they sometimes undermine the masquerade.

How much do we actually need to give him? I think a more important part of this discussion is clarifying what got out.

Also, we're not under good enough wards right now to spill our guts. People like Anduriel only have so much focus, but everyone who can is probably stalking us right now.
We already mentioned LoV himself, that's the actionable info, I feel. Evil Bob is permadead, he cannot be called back. And I'm not sure we can hope to move to a much better secured facility quickly enough.
All that aside; why did we go further than the Angel? I don't think we have a better answer than curiosity because we didn't know what was down there till we arrived.
That's an unnecessary detail. For now for sure, and probably later too. There's a reason I am rolling subterfuge excellency. The goal is to redirect.

Seriously even assuming that we only spend two motes on the pursuit of each individual shard and or their host that's still 8 motes. Why do I seem to be the only person trying to avoid a scenario like when we ran into the HollowMan with only 2 motes left? Is nobody anticipating combat either because we usually just spend motes during that too even when fighting complete mooks.

We are going to be regaining essence in the process. If we get the abyssal exalt on our side in subordinate role, that's +2 essence ("binds an unwholesome being into her service"). The first time we inspect an abyssal shard in person, that's +2 essence.

We need essence, but we also need to use essence.

I meant more about who we were hunting beyond Kemmler's idiots. Though it might be useful to mention that we were thrown deeper instead of actually finding our target at the edge of the sea if we're entertaining this at all.

Also, on a more subjective level, your write in reads sort of funny. Molly is still a mortal teenager on top of everything else, and going straight to "rejoice the good news of my victory" with no warm up feels off for her voice.

That's a guess Yog. Don't paint it as a guarantee to make it sound more reasonable. I didn't say we don't need to use essence don't straw man. I said we need to use it on the pursuit of the four shards and for any combat during. Also why does it matter if they buy the reasoning or not? We literally have more important things.

It's not a fact that we'll find them at all. It's not a fact that we'll be able to find them quickly. There's a version that they'll be inactive, as I understand it, for some time...

I don't know why us finding them quickly or not matters when there are currently no plans to stop and recharge while they are out and about. We don't know which version is in play and we are intending to find them all so this argument sounds like "well everything might align so we don't have to spend as much as we typically do so we should just operate under that assumption".

Wizard: Why did you let the ancient horror out
Molly: He wanted to see the sun!
Wizard: Why- wait, why were you even in the position to meet it in the first place?!
Molly: I plead the Fifth

Harry asked us a question that can be answered in a few seconds. I highly doubt he'd expect us to spend some of our dwindling pool of power to try selling a lie when we could instead be using it to deal with the planetary wide crisis.

Again, we literally have more important things.

[X] Don't have time for an interrogation, you called for help looking for the missing shards
-[X] Call your various clones to the Last Station. If need be have one of the Last Dogs that you gave their numbers to do it in your steed. You'll need them here.

Edit: Listens to the Wind not Harry.

Y'all are missing the most important part of the chapter.

Does that raccoon have a rocket launcher, and if it doesn't, does it want one?

[X] In pursuit of Kemmler's most trusted companion I descended into the Underworld, and to prevent their plans from ever having a chance to come to fruition I have enacted my own. Rejoice, for in that, at least, I was successful, and they are dead beyond the boundaries of afterlife, never to haunt Creation again

I mean, bluntly?
The wheel is turning now, this was going to happen eventually, at least now we have a chance to act and four untethered weapons in the wind instead of some or all of them bound to fell purpose or Oblivion's call.

We want their help and cooperation. Both right now and later. That's why it's important to maintain an image of someone reliable, and explain away our actions in a way that doesn't make us more of a problem than a problem solver.

Also, while yes, it's a "guess", it's a reasonable assumption. If we succeed in binding (in any sense) an abyssal to our service, we get motes. If we get any arcane secrets out of this, we get motes. We can also regain motes pretty quickly in bleach. Remember - travel time is normally hours at best, our ability to traverse the world in minutes is OCP to pretty much the whole setting bar Mab-level entities. Even denarians normally use planes or Ways.

For some reason I assumed it was Listens-to-Wind who asked the question. Still, it's a question that has been asked, and people are listening.

It's our fault either way, and this can all be explained in detail later. This makes some sense but it isn't really an argument for using a mote on this when they are needed elsewhere. You really think they aren't going to help deal with the planet wide crisis?

I know how the mechanics work. We've discovered secrets before only for DP to tell us that we don't understand enough of what we discovered for the Urge to trigger. Your assuming that looking at an Exaltation would be enough to trigger it even if it turns out that Molly doesn't understand much of what she's looking at, which seems likely considering how little she knows of them. You are also assuming that we'd get Abyssals to be subservient to us right out the gate.

Your saying these are reasonable assumptions without explaining why. The bleach mote recovery is 15 minutes per mote. So your idea is to be spending such time in a bottle of bleach while everyone else plans or plan in a bath of bleach (assuming we don't need to be moving about) revealing to everyone that mechanic of our power set, and lean on water travel to make up the difference in time wasted? That's another thing. Water travel doesn't allow us to carry people with and teleporting them with Sanctuary requires essence each time.

It was, that was a typo on my part.

I'm going to amend my vote and approval vote because I'm not sure how many people are voting then leaving until the next update or at least reading the discussion after even if they don't engage with it.

Amended vote in an attempt to appeal to more people.
