SV, in general does not do setbacks well.

Part of it is build into the quest structure, where often there is a way to do things good and a way to do things bad, and a way to lose. So participants get encouraged to do what is beneficial, which very much might not be what is interesting.

I always love when people reinterpret non-quest media as if they were quest. Canon Arcane as a quest would be a mess. I imagine how Jayce!Quest would also be a fucking mess.

"Wtf, we broke a promise to save Victor's life and now, not only has he abandoned us, but has become a cult leader and is going to cause a giant Hextech apocalypse!?! How the fuck were we supposed to foresee that?"

The approach I enjoy the most (and try to do in my own quests, though none have gotten far enough yet for it to really be noticeable) is where each option has an equal amount of setback and progress, just in different ways; so it's not a matter of finding the "winning choice" but the voters still have agency in how things happen. Feels like that encourages picking the most personally interesting option, not just the safest, and I like that @Chengar Qordath seems to be taking that approach here. But yeah, I suppose the QM intent doesn't always translate to voter expectations, whoops.

"Maybe in hindsight fusing him with the big scary magical dohickey he asked us to destroy was a bad idea or something."

I think the easiest explanation for an Arcane canon quest, is that Sing is the PC, and everything is going roughly to plan, until Vander recognizes Powder. Everything sort of makes sense if it's a detached scientist in Zaun quest trying to keep Silco happy enough to fund sing while the QM props up Hextech to maintain quest difficulty. The show just focused on things from a purely side story angle.

People would still complain about the curveball of the boss with the funding dying as a result of the voters agreeing with his demands to save Jinx XD

"How could we know that injecting her with all that shimmer would make her do a crazy murder tea party?"

But yeah, it's kinda funny that out of everyone, he's the only one who actually accomplishes his stated goal lmao. (Even if it'll inevitably fall apart when Orianna learns what atrocities went into saving her life. Again, I really want a sequel series that returns to Piltover at some point down the line...)

Forget being a sidestory to Singed's adventures; all of Arcane is really just a very very intricate Orianna backstory. :V

Nah. QM would show them the rolls and tell them that they should have taken a greater interest in Silco's cause and Jinx condition rather than treat both as merely a means to an end. "I didn't exactly hide that Silco was on warpath, and I gave you an option to keep more of an eye on the girl he had you shimmer mutate. You passed on getting involved in either to the point that they collided somewhere in the middle and your support network fell apart. Be more involved in key narrative characters stories and you won't get blindsided like this."

Huh speaking of Ekko, I forget why exactly Benzo was killed in the first place. Wonder if that could be a potential diversion, especially since roughly no one in Zaun is going to hear anything but whatever story Silco wants to put out.

There may be risks with Seraphine but I do believe she can step up and help Jinx like what Powder did to help her.
The earlier she can see Jinx, the more she can head off some of the nastier traits forming in case we get bad news or lack of response from Ekko, there's always a chance of Silco manipulating Ekko's letters.
Honestly it would be neat if meeting Jinx in that poor condition is what inspire Seraphine to start singing to comfort her.

It better be this song:

A moment to change it all
Had life before been so slow?
Urgency takes hold
But to live in fear isn't to live at all

So how can I make it okay?
I just want you to be happy
How can I make it okay?
I just want you to be happy
How can I make it okay?
Nothing else is as important
As that to me
How can I make it okay?
Nothing else is as important
As that to me, oh

How do we sell you the world?
Let it in, embrace and uncurl
So fierce, so bold
Someone like you
Should not be left unsold

So how can I make it okay?
I just want you to be happy
How can I make it okay?
I just want you to be happy
How can I make it okay?
Nothing else is as important
As that to me
How can I make it okay?
Nothing else is as important
As that to me, oh

And Seraphine is one vote behind the workshop. If we end up with a tie I'm not sure if I'll do my usual tie-breaker, or just let her willpower go negative. Which normally isn't a thing willpower is supposed to do, but feels like an adequate way to represent her just being burnt out on doing anything after so much activity.

Caitlyn: Jinx, would you like to--
Jinx: *Staring blankly up at the ceiling.* Bluuuuhhhhhh.
Caitlyn: I'll ... come back tomorrow.
