I've just had a very horrific but thematically appropriate idea for what will happen to Vi.

So we know that Singed will be um, persuaded by Silco to save Vi's life after she got caught in the mouser explosion. And we know what happened to Jinx when she ended up in the exact same position in the canon timeline. The difference here is that Singed has had seven less years to refine the shimmer he used on Jinx so with that being said, what if?

What if the procedure works, Vi is healed, she pulls through, maybe some small scars on her face but nothing she'll complain about. She seems fine and single minded to find Powder, and completely ignorant of the fact that Silco had anything to do with Vander's death as Sevika rolls a Nat20 on a deception check and persuades Vi that Vander tried to get Powder back only to be mercilessly gunned down trying to cross the bridge, which further gasses up Vi to get Powder back and gives Silco a disadvantage on his persuasion check to get Vi to stay put until they have a plan of action, which naturally means that she bolts out of Singed's creepy basement totally legitimate science lab using her shimmer-enhanced strength to kick the ass of anyone trying to stop her.

Once out onto the streets she heads straight for the Kiramman estate thinking that if anyone has Powder or knows where she is, it's them, and on the way she has an altercation with a random Zaunite which escalates into a fight when she loses control of her temper and assaults him, a fight that ends with her accidentally killing him to her horror. She then starts to remember all the times she's nearly lost her temper around Powder and begins to realize how dangerous she'd be to be around her little sister, and that fear of losing control of herself with her newfound strength around Powder gives her pause. And then she begins to feel it, that cloying hunger-like sensation in her guts, her strength slowly fading away as her head begins pounding. She barely makes it back to Singed's lab and he determines to her horror that she's become physically dependent on continual doses of shimmer and that withdrawal is likely going to kill her. In time he may be able to correct this flaw in the procedure but for the time being, she can't go anywhere else, not unless Silco wants her to as he gets to decide if and when Vi will get more of the drug. And the worst part is that she still ends up with the cancerous-like growths that long-term users develop meaning that eventually she's too scarred and too afraid of her sister seeing her as a monster to even think about finding Powder.

This would work to give Vi a similar tragic villain role that canon Jinx had (trapped in villainy by a physical dependence instead of emotional turmoil), similar dependence on Silco (except physical rather than emotional), it would explain why Vi would throw in with Silco when she's far more likely to just take Powder and run for somewhere else and why she wouldn't immediately go find Powder the instant she's able to stand on her own two feet without falling over. And it would make their reunion extra tragic and maybe even motivate Jinx to side with Viktor in working on the Hex Core if it means a cure for Vi's permanent addiction, with even more potential disastrous results (i.e. Vi becoming the Herald instead of Viktor).

I.e. Instead of an Ep. 3 Anakin, Vi is an Ep. 6 Vader crossed with Darkman and a BioShock splicer.

Workshops can be modified over time and evolve with use, it's being built no matter what so customisation need not be a priority.

Friendships on the other hand are not so easily rebuilt over time. If we don't build our relationship up with Seraphine now then our chance encounter may remain just that. Letting her in would be the start of an actual friendship, and her empathic abilities could help us gradually work through some of our trauma.

Contacting Ekko is important for keeping some connection to Zaun and not letting our friendship fade. But, it's probably not worth spending our last willpower just to send a letter. He should find out we survived in the next few weeks anyway even if he's passive through the gossip on hextech and by checking on Jayce. From there he could just do what Seraphine did and come to us. If a person we met once can have the initiative to come to the house to see us why can't our oldest friend? It would be safer for everyone for him to come to our side of the Pilt anyway with Silco around to ambush meetings and intercept letters in Zaun.

There is also the fact that Silco could intercept the letter, especially if Marcus is still on his payroll.

Jinx needs people in her life right now, Seraphine to a degree already understands and empathizes with her, ninx could always rearranger her workshop later.

If she is lucky, the letter could reach Ekko safely, everything is in chaos right now, so even spies would have a harder time intercepting the letter., than if Zaun is calm.

Really? I've thought it was all very well fitting. Jinx giving out her bombs, Vi's reaction to the news, the consequences. Vander's choice of action, as well.

Like yes, it didn't need to go that way. This could have been a much brighter story where a lot more goes right and a lot less goes wrong. But it would be so much worse for it.

And the quest voted to give out the bombs.

That is on us. Everything else - mostly outside of our hands. We maybe could have tried talking to Vi when she was arguing with Vander, tipped the scale to her trusting him.

There is a reason why Jinx focusing on getting Hextech to Zaun is something that drags her into conversation. The thread has put converted and consistent effort into that goal.

There's a reason why I'm kinda expecting that Jinx is going to be getting bonuses to not exploding herself in research of we continue the safety conscious kick.

Choices have consequences.

Speaking of:

Okay so this is me blatantly digging into my own spoon recovery. People are exhausting - special interest isn't.

I do think that Jinx having her own place, a place that is hers would be extremely good for. And just... Having something for her to do, to drag herself out of bad to do.

This initial vote sequence feels like a case of slowly building Jinx back up. What can you do to get back on your feet. This is the option of the three that I think may bring in Willpower.

Seraphine literally has magic for telling how people are feeling.

Ekko is also a priority because yeah - everyone in Zaun probably thinks Jinx/"Powder" is dead.

On a lighter note:

"But it's always wise to watch them," Mrs. Kiramman pointed out. "Foreign policy is often driven by internal politics, after all. Whichever faction wins out in the current struggle for power, it would be all too typical of Noxus to launch a war of conquest once they're firmly in control. There's nothing like a victorious war to unify everyone behind the new regime, and the ones who won't be won over by patriotism can be bribed with the spoils of war." She grimaced and tapped her fingers on the table. "Ambessa Medarda isn't a merchant of an intellectual, she's a warlord. If she sent her daughter here to represent her interests, it's because she thinks there's something that will give her an advantage in her political games in Noxus."

"And now she wants to invest in Hextech," Caitlyn concluded. "I don't think Jayce would approve of handing his invention over to ambitious warlords who will no doubt want to weaponize it."

She was right about that. "We wanted to use it to help Zaun." It wasn't until I saw everyone turn to face me that I realized I'd just spoken.

After a few seconds of awkward silence, Mrs. Kiramman cleared her throat. "Yes, and House Kiramman remains firmly committed to supporting that goal. Even if that might be a bit more difficult now that we've..." She grimaced and shook her head as she trailed off.

So we can all agree this is politics talk yes? Zaun - Piltover but politics.

That's when my mouth decided to shoot off before my brain could think to stop it. "Isn't the saying supposed to be 'A few bad apples spoil the bunch'?"

Caitlyn and her mom both stared at me as if they'd completely forgotten I was there. Or had expected me to be a quiet and grateful houseguest who'd keep out of their conversation. After an awkward second Mr. Kiramman cleared his throat. "Remember what we said, Cassandra. No political talk around the dinner table. Well, not unless we're having another member of the Council over for dinner, though even then I'd prefer to save the politicking for after the meal."

The poor man will have to wait for Caitlyn to bring someone in through the window or Jinx possibly through the front door to stay away from mealtime politics talk at this rate

Using up 2 willpower right now is harsh, but I think it gives a good chance of improving our mental state.

Time to start rebuilding our shattered social safety net.

Also there's a whole lot of doomsaying that Vi is going to end up in the tragic villain role that Jinx did originally, but once we find out she's alive we can commit harder to reuniting with/saving her than Vi did in Arcane.

I'm torn on Seraphine. On one hand, I really really really want more of her and don't wanna miss out on this opportunity to make sure she stays relevant; on the other hand, I am nervous about what a meeting could do to her with Jinx's present mental state. On the other other hand, I'm not sure there's gonna be an 'ideal' time to meet her, mental-health-wise, so may as well bite the bullet now and hope for the best. Might even be good to inoculate her against The Trauma early. In any case, we definitely need to get back in contact with Ekko, and do it before Silco consolidates his takeover. Plus, I like the idea of reaching out to them both on a thematic level - Keeping our friends on both sides of the river.

The workshop can be improved later if we want; while Jayce is a social himbo and Viktor is an introvert, I still don't think they'd screw it up so catastrophically that Jinx can't use the place, especially after spending the last few weeks getting to know Powder pretty well. (I guess maybe put in a word asking for crayons and spray-paint, though? Even if we're in Piltover now, there's no need to lose our personal style. (Cassandra will just have to get used to the doodling on the walls :V))

Your description beamed this into my head. Vi's definitely gonna spiral hard... it would be kinda funny if she got the Emo Wrestler makeover early, though.

Now I'm just picturing both at once, sometime in the teenager or adult era - Caitlyn inexplicably meeting and dragging in Shimmer Vi, while Jinx shows up with Seraphine and Ekko (and Lux?) on each arm. (If Lux, the third arm is Jinx "borrowing" Viktor's Hexclaw :V) And things get instantly so much more awkward than the political talk would have been. XD

I think maybe chill on the extreme hypothetical outcomes. Vi is having a final Arc before time skip as well, and there is no telling how things will be set to play out until after that time skip.

I'm sorry if I went overboard with that last one, I was just speculating on how Vi's story might go from here.

It's fine, I'm just saying that things are too much in flux for that level of detailed prediction. There is going to be awkward teen jinx choices afterall, and we haven't seen what Mel is trying to now that she isn't the sole backer of Hextech yet has to work around Heimerdinger oversight.

Well detailed predictions like that are what my ADHD brain spits out when its become hyperfixated on Arcane since I finished Season 2 and is in the process of writing an Arcane/Fallout: New Vegas crossover fanfic that may one day be posted on SV, depends if it goes anywhere. My brain just refuses to think about anything else at the moment.

You've gotta spend spoons to make spoons. And any of these have a shot at improving stability.
Damn, everything cost willpower. We're rationing utensils right now.

Pretty much the idea. Even the most basic human interaction takes effort right now.

I will say that willpower's probably going to be a bit more dynamic for this chapter of the story, since it'll be covering a wider range of time. Each installment is probably covering the events of a couple days worth of time, as opposed to previous chapters where it's been more like one very eventful day.

Now I'm just trying to imagine how much people would rage if Arcane's canon storyline was an SV quest. Since it's pretty much built on terrible things happening whenever it looks like Jinx might start making progress.

"We voted to help! Why does that end with us killing our entire family, our sister traumatizing us, and us getting adopted by the bad guy?!"
"Seriously? Ekko just shows up out of nowhere to ruin our big reunion with our sister?!"
"Okay, I know we botched that stability roll, but tying up our sister and dad in a freaky dinner party and making Vi think we cut off her girlfriend's head is too much. Then next update we kill Silco and become a terrorist..."

And that's before everything with Isha goes down, which was just a whole other level of gut punch that would make people hate the writer.
