A school for the cursed: A Psyker Quest. Warhammer 40k quest.

I never thought I'd see a Ratling Mafia in this quest. Time for me to watch The Sopranos!

Here's hoping we don't get whacked.

We need trainers and guards more than equipment at this stage, especially since the Black Sentinels is now a hard and permanent No until the dumbfuck louie is replaced.

Also worth noting that I don't see anything indicating that we can't contact the rest later.

This is a free action for the good roll. You can contact the others at any time.
Thought so, but I appreciate the confirmation.

So yeah, my vote goes towards the muscle faction so we don't need to spend an action next turn scrambling to get a proper training program going.

Also, sorry for taking so long, I meant to answer earlier but got sidetracked and forgot - yeah, you can mod Halbert-3 as you wish, just credit me when you do please :)

The cartel or the family for me.

Need weapons and guards from the cartel. But hunting down rouge psykers to recruit, sed to Tera or kill. One rouge psyker can lead to a chaos gate being made by accident.

The Cartel doesn't have any noteworthy weapons to provide to you. What they provide is hooks into hard organized crime networks and skilled killers and the like to train your people in hand to hand and melee combat.

The Brotherhood is the one you go to if you want firearms better than off-the-shelf mass production lasguns/autoguns.

Pretty good turn overall.

Since the Blackshields refused to train our Psykers, and we can contact the other groups at any time, I think that we should contact the Alkata Cartel for this free action, in order to request combat training.

The Corsairs having more advanced tech is interesting, though it sucks that the Mechanicus could confiscate it from us.

Nothing is stopping us from contacting the other criminal organizations as needed, so I think the best "first pick" is to leverage our influence with the Lord Prefect to hire some trainers from the Alkata Cartel, so we've got some comptent trainers for our boys and girls. We can go for the weapons and other stuff afterwards, since they're less "urgent" .

I think that the family is the best starting contact outside of providing us with info about psykers whose unsanctioned nature could mess with local warp they also provide roumor mil about happenings on the planet

-[] Hire professional instructors offering above-board currency.

Just putting this out there for the vote. Getting those instructors ASAP when we don't have the Black Sentinels on call goes above the rest on our priority list. We can contact the Family, or the weapon-dealers at a later date.

Hmm, could we encourage our students to customize their armor and weapons with heraldry, engravings, and paint as a way to make pseudo-psychic gear. Or is that something we have to research?

Behold, my plan!

We are ready to offer joint activities in the fight against small criminal groups, mutants and psykers. From our side, there will be telekinetic support in combat situations, as well as healing of those participating in the battle through biomancy. In addition, we will provide healing of the crippled through biomancy. From your side, help my fighters gain experience in combat under your protection, and we will also receive psykers captured in these raids.

Biomantic Juvenant Treatments and beauty:
This is definitely something to look into. We wish to fight for better treatment of psykers and other "fringe" elements, right? Prettying us and our troops up would make that easier, even if it might be philosophically distasteful.

It's also a good way to improve the prestige our psychic troops get; if they look like Good Imperial Soldiers, just with psychic powers, it will make the accolades and funding flow easier.

We'll just have to be careful to look like "good soldiers/citizens" rather than being too vain, as we don't want to be booty calling Slaanesh this early in the quest.

So had a cursed thought, though that is normal when thinking about 40k, but considering how valuable stable Beta grade psykers are it wouldn't be too out there that certain genetic samples of Occam were taken during his time on Terra.

Mostly though of this due to the conversation about large families and how young people have kids on Terra this chapter.

You'd need to research/acquire the knowledge on that sort of thing.

You'd just take the propaganda posters of the Imperium, and make a list of all the faces and physiognomy shown. Then give the Psykers the list and ask them which propaganda poster they'd like to look like the most.

"And I do not want your Psykers being as physically fit as the ones meant to keep them in line."

The answer puts an end to any hope of getting assistance with physical training and exercise from within the Astra Telepathica.

Of course not, that'd be too easy.

Dwarven tech is tempting, but telekine rounds with nice, artisianal autoguns might even make autoguns worth it.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, but I think I've misinterpreted how the Wyrdvanes will work. Is it not that each of the primaris instructors will have their own Wyrdvane of students, and will then be able to train them however they see fit, with total control of every hour of their day? Some of the bolded text seems to imply that the Wyrdvanes will be instructed by others that aren't the primaris.

Not everything needs to be taught by a Primaris.

You don't need to oversee each of your Psyker learning to put up a mental wall and block out whispers, or learning basic examples of Pyromancy. You will have your students, and teach them the advanced stuff. But the Scholam will have a support staff of regular sanctioned Psyker tutors and teachers who do a lot of the grunt work.

Each of the prefects is tasked with setting up systems and infrastructure for the training of a type of Wyrdvane, with the intention that they'll personally be involved in the first one.

But afterwards, it needs to be done automatically.

Issue with the Cartel is that they're providing combat experience, not trainers. Said combat experience will almost certainly be coming from protecting criminal organizations, and nasty ones at that. That seems likely to damage our reputation with other organizations on Nautilus, especially the Enforcers. That's a serious problem, especially since we want their support for our Pit training.

If we want thugs to provide training to our psykers, we don't need to deal with the Cartel. We can just hire some underhive muscle ourselves with the Train Them to Fight Dirty action. Mind you, I'd much rather grab trainers with experience in ranged combat. The Black Sentinels may be out, but I can't imagine they are the only game in town. Not with the Munitorum's eternal hunger for more Guardsmen. The reason why we didn't get those options Turn 1 is likely because the Black Sentinels were the natural first group to ask, being part of the Telepathica and all.
