[X] plan let's not go insane!
-[X] [conversation] speak to Lord Yorbert Royce.
-[X] [action] Relax, with Alicent.
-[X] [action] Feast.

I really think that we need to relax, I'm pretty sure we have over 20 stress. I do not want rhaenyra to go insane, and how does a Targaryen go insane, genetic's and STRESS!

Honestly I will take just about any plan that involves relaxation.

Ysembard may not be a powerbroker, but it would send a bad signal if we refuse audiences. Any plan should include the feast (obligatory) and talking to him, which leaves the third option. The question then is whether we enter a tourney directly, or keep training.

There is some logic to entering a small tourney first, instead of gambling all or nothing on a big one. But the reverse also holds weigh: We don't know how long our "mystery" will stay up, so we may want to only spring it once at a big tourney.

For now voting:
[X] Plan Strong Allies

But I would prefer the Braavosi, actually. Water dancers are uncommon in Westeros, but we may one day go up against anotehr "DEX-based build", and what better way to train for that than against a water dancer?

Yeah but rhaenyra is a Targaryen, who are much more susceptible to insane.
Not really? They've had like, three to four genuinely crazy people in their bloodline, at least one of whom may have been made that way by brain damage, and another by severe psychological trauma. The rest are just like your average privileged nobility with far too much wealth and power, and with their own special brand of stick up their ass from being absolute sovereigns with an ideology of Valyrian supremacy behind them.

Somehow in the gaggle of plans: 1) no one wrote up the one I actually would back; and 2) the leading plan manages to be worse than the one I originally spoke out against (a Braavosi water dancer does not help us train for White Harbor's knightly tourney at all, and certainly not more than getting some practice in at a low-stakes event, come on!), so approval voting.

Okay, whatever. I don't mind going into a small tournament. The only fear I have is that even if we win, this might piss off Viserys enough to actually cut our progress short.

Anyway, I kind of feel like we are neglecting our best lizard. Maybe next turn we can focus more on her?

We're good, but not sure if we're quite good enough to win an entire tourney (The joust specifically, considering our duel with Harwin and how Harwin won the melee at Harrenhall even with Criston being there I think we have the melee in the bag) and while dice rolls are involved, Gulltown isn't a massive tourney like White Harbor is projected to be so even if the dice are in our favor winning might not be enough for our knighthood, and losing might result in us getting unmasked, so overall not enough reward for the potential risk.

I was also an advocate for a duel with Steffon, but as someone else said, he will be around to duel with later, whereas the Water Dancer likely won't, and as evidenced by our duel with Gwayne, we do have trouble with people who don't let us hit them, since Gwayne got a decent amount of hits in with his evasive style despite the fact he's likely not at the level of a Kingsguard and we are, so it would be a good chance to shore up a weakness in our style.

[] [Conversation] Speak With Steffon Redfort
He is Jessamyn's half brother. You don't know much about him, but he left a good impression in your first meeting. It would be good to get to know him a bit more and see if he if he is suitable for the City Watch.
We need to sell the idea that he won us over during the trip and after he helped us through our first kill, rather than being someone Jayne recommended. Being seen talking with him now is a good start.

I like this one the most. I think we've got the vale pretty locked down, and the feast will let us mooh that over anyhow. The braavosi lets us diversify our fighting style AND I think we really should get some jousting practice in as a mystery knight at Gulltown, we really don't want white harbor to be our first outing at a real tourney and not a training yard.

also the plan name is swag. which like. do you need more than that?

We brought redfort along for the express purpose of undercutting the perception that we would be promoting him to commander of the city watch on Jeyne's recommendation rather than because we bonded with him following the execution. The entire scheme kind of falls apart if we don't socailize with him during the period of time where Rhaenyra should be most inclined to his company.

The other purpose for this feast besides the knighthood is to get to know the lords of the realm, so we should actually do that, rather than chasing some scheme for arnolds son Rhaenyra's stepmother is clearly putting us up to because she hopes to oust Jeyne from lordship using the boy when he is grown.

The Braavosi water dancers seems likely to be temporary so best to leap on the chance while we can.

Regarding Isembard (I'm sure I'm misspelling his name, but not going to go check) - worth noting that he was also a third rival claimant in Arnold's son's challenge to Joffrey, so it might be about that. He might be looking for us to put in the good word with Jeyne about his line for future inheritance, for instance.

Also, regarding the Water Dancer thing - I'm not really sure the style suits us? In canon Ned hires a water dancer instructor for Arya because she's small, young, isn't going to be fighting armored, and it's all an indulgence for her - she's not really going to need it.

None of that is true for us. We're stronger than the average knight and we typically wear armor. We're not Oberyn, we're the Mountain. I think we should stick with the more typical knightly combat style. Although there might still be merit in learning how water dancer types would fight against that so we can counter it.

It's not about learning the style. It's about testing Rhaenyra against someone with it since she has struggled previously against opponents with a talent for evasion, to highlight her weaknesses and get advise on correcting them from someone who regularly faces opponents of a primarily evasive nature .

Has, she? I might be forgetting them. Regardless, I also think that on the goal of selling that Steffon won us over, I'd much prefer to do that with a train action than a conversation. We do not have the action economy to be talking to this guy, but I'm sure we'll make time for some training.

Although we don't have to do that this turn either.

Approval voting this:

[X] Plan Outcomes, Obligations and Organized Violence

Although it sounds to me like the obligation is only to attend one of the Feast or Tourney, so I'd kind of like to vote a plan that switches Feast out for either Train, Talk with Alicent, or Train Syrax.

Rhaenyra's not asking to be taught the water dancer's style
She's hiring one to duel her so that she can learn how to fight against them

Which is explicitly the whole point of the duelling actions that Raylon introduced
To gain experience fighting a variety of different foes
