I'm... so confused how this improved relations with our stepmother. I mean, I'll take it? Just not the result I was expecting.
Johanna in canon gelded a child and made them into her son's Jester. She sees the trial as Rhaenyra ruthlessly dealing with an absolutely disgusting wretch of man. It improves things with her because it's something she would thinks she would have done if she were Rhaenyra.

Which does hint at Johanna's mentality.

If you change tourney wit training I will approval vote this...

AFAIK we are still at rank 7 (which apparently is less than Cole) and considering that we only have one suit of pretty recognisable armor the "Mystery Knight" gambit may fall after this first trial...
Alright sure, Water Dancer or Steffon? I would personally advocate for Steffon since it might help us get to know him better, so kill two birds with one stone, but Water Dancer could help us improve prowess more.

In Canon, Eldric Arryn becomes a massive pain for a sickly Jeyne Arryn, and helps kick off a war of succession in the Vale during Aegon III's early reign by killing one his regents Corwyn Corbray, (Isembard too for that matter), so this action helps us potentially curb a thorn in one of our most powerful and loyal allies side, and also potentially helps us have even closer relations to the Royces, the arguably second most powerful house of the Vale.

This single action may keep the Vale unified under Jeyne and thus able to muster smoothly for us in case of civil war, along with gaining us more allies in said Vale.

Also, it would be cool to meet Yohn "Bronze" Royce's ancestor.
This is not canon though!?

The boys claim is dead. None of this has any chance to happen anymore. That's why we resolved the Arnold situation instead of letting him rot in a cell like canon Jeyne.

Reasoning for choosing Yorbert over Isembard is ultimately Jeyne is going to need an heir. In canon she got away with choosing a fourth cousin but only after a civil war and direct interference from the Iron Throne after she died. This will likely be an issue during our reign and one we can hopefully nip in the bud just by making sure the next in line (legally speaking which we just had a whole thing about) is young Eldric. Something needs to be done with him, hopefully Jeyne could be convinced to take him in as a ward and raise him to be less of a shit than his Father.

Failing that...we could take him in as something of a page/squire. Instill some actual knightly virtue and decency into him or at least pass him off onto someone who will. (Looking real hard at you, Ser Raylon). Eldric was canonically 'Shrewd and Ambitious'...all we need to do is direct that in our interest. Or just convince him that the Kingsguard is the life for him?

And failing that we just completely botch his education and let him grow into a total disaster no one in their most desperate state would want as Lord of the Vale. Or maybe just a dude who wants to lounge around eating lemon cakes.

I should note that Rhaenyra's actions have massively changed the status quo in the Vale compared to canon considering the Crown never intervened until after Rhaenyra and Arnold is uh, very dead.

Feast definitely the big thing for this round, Steffon is both training and getting to know our new Gold Cloak Captain, and Isembard is a potential money man for us.

Rhaenyra finally starting to stack the deck in her favor, exactly what I'm hoping for out of this Progress.

Yea but he's still a little prick, and not all of Jeyne's enemies have been wiped out, so i'd rather he not become a massive prick in the future and embolden the rebellious Lord's.

Also, Jeyne is gay and this action could help smooth the transition of power for whoever she chooses as her heir (Likely Joffrey again)

Also also, Royces are cool and Isembard seems like a rather slimy guy.

I suppose we could make use of Isembard, as long as we aren't forced to make any promises about Jeyne's Inheritance.

He's a kid right now and why would Jeynes enemies try to make a boy their figurehead whom they can't proclaim Lord of the Vale without tempting divine wrath?

You killed his father.

Convince him the Night's Watch and/or the Citadel is the life for him.
