research gives additional keywords to a power.
You know, wouldn't duplicate keywords be likely to enhance the strength of the relevant power and show the results we have here?

anansi defected now probably in hopes of preventing a rebound through boosters
If true, she probably defected for nothing since even at the point we could use Apiary safely we wouldn't be able to deal with the Rebound using additional Keywords? (Either that, or Super Memory thanks to LA?)

depends really how their booster eorks. But in our case algernon are 13 potency so no way to add something that can mitigate rebound

I'm pretty sure the Rebound is fundamentally unavoidable?
It is yeh but lies and desperation can make eveb a hero bend

I think I figured out how Hiver got around Faust's power. He was flinching whenever LL said his name during the scene. When he signed Faust's contract, he didn't use his real name!

... Oh my god, "I never thought of myself as Hiver, so why would your contract work on me?"
*opens mouth*
*closes it*

...could it really be that simple? Just...not actually using whatever you consider "your" name when you sign, however Faust's power determines that?

So, looking at our odds, what are our chances of passing the Refusal's DC? I'll use this dice calculator for the job.

[ ] You refuse. Time for the stick.
  • Minor Success: DC 12. Moderate Success: DC 15. Major Success: DC 18.
  • HIT 40 (Stat Check) vs HIT 32 (JU + Hiver)
    • -4 due to a difference of 8, thus we need to roll a minimum of 16 on a d20
      • 25% Chance of Minor Success (Roll at least 16)
      • 10% Chance of a Moderate Success (Roll at least 19)
      • 0% Chance of a Major Success
      • 5% Chance of a Natural Crit (Roll 20)
    • -1 assuming we get a +3 from "You can be more". Assuming so, we need to roll a minimum of 13.
      • 40% Chance of a Minor Success (Roll at least 13)
      • 25% Chance of a Moderate Success (Roll at least 16)
      • 10% Chance of a Major Success (Roll at least 19)
      • 5% Chance of a Natural Crit (Roll 20)
Dunno how many omake points we have stocked up, but now is probably the time to use them.

My guess is more that he had his name legally changed at some point recently. Or his current name isn't the one he was born with.
A mentality of This Person Is (now) Dead would probably also work, given how Faust's contracts are not insurmountable in the way he would like them to see (see: Ete's earlier gaffe)?

It's an unbreakable contract that requires you to write your name down on it.

And as was established here, Faust doesn't actually know if someone's violating it or not, he just binds people to them and assumes that it works because they stick to it. It might even be that it does work, but...

If he were to write in his official name, but it being one he never acknowledge himself by internally, his power just might not have bound him, so much as it was bound to the Hiver identity--which is something that he never considered to be his core identity in the first place because it was forced on him.

So in that case, all he'd have to do is... Stop being Hiver, and the Contract would stick with the identity and not the individual.

Ete's thing might in part be because Faust needs to work through contracts, and contracts need to be interpreted. Judging from Faust's musings, she might have thought that the special dispension to explain how his power worked also extended to explaining why they set up this meeting. He evidently didn't think that but how the contract was worded might have allowed Ete to some to that conclusion and act as if it were true.

That gives me a thought of giving Hiver a new name when he joins us, though given Maddie, I'd assume he had something in mind.
He always hated that name anyway got too much flack for it.

Also Needing a name to sign the contract and being bound by how much your identity is tied to it remids of a Spear in the Horizon series.

Spear could basically cut anyone within range as long as the user knows the enemys name.

Didnt work with an actress who have a bunch of name she cycles through and have only fleeting connection to them. So only got clothing damage or small cuts no matter how many times the spear power was use.
