[X] Plan Astral Chains
-[X] [The Red Huntress] (6 POTENCY)
-[X] [Adamant] (3 POTENCY)
-[X] [Dragonsteeth] (3 POTENCY)
-[X] POTENCY REDUCTIONS (-2 POTENCY)
-[X] TOTAL POTENCY OF DOSE: 10
Looking at this plan, keywords are:
  • 2x Transformation (Red Huntress, Adamant)
  • 2x Energy Manipulation (Red Huntress, Dragonsteeth)
  • 1x Enhanced Strength (Adamant)
  • 1x Enhanced Senses (Red Huntress)
  • 1x Fitness (Red Huntress)
  • 1x Speed (Red Huntress)
  • 1x Invisibility (Red Huntress)
  • 1x Regeneration (Adamant)
  • 1x Construct Creation (Dragonsteeth)
This does run into the same problem most Red Huntress plans do. In that Red Huntress requires a very specific combination of powers to work well, and this really only guarantees Transformation and Energy Manipulation. The rest will be up to the roll of the dice.

Any plans with the Red Huntress probably need to be like Chimera, in that you want more than 2 of her Keywords at 2x to make the most use out of that 6 Potency cost.

If I had to do something like those pictures you provided (Transformation into Energy Being, with Metal Constructs for minions), it'd probably look like this:

Astral Chains:
  • Potency 4 (Outsider) + Potency 3 (Dragonsteeth) + Potency 3 (Adamant) + Potency 1 (Daggermaw) + Potency 1 (Soldier X) - 2 Potency = 10 Potency
    • 3x Transformation (Outsider, Adamant, Daggermaw)
    • 2x Energy Manipulation (Outsider, Dragonsteeth)
    • 2x Enhanced Strength (Adamant, Daggermaw)
    • 2x Regeneration (Adamant, Soldier X)
    • 1x Invisibility (Outsider)
    • 1x Construct Creation (Dragonsteeth)
    • 1x Enhanced Senses (Daggermaw)
    • 1x Fitness (Soldier X)
The key component for fighting with a Stand is Construct Creation and Energy Manipulation, but since we have no other supers with Construct Creation, we can't guarantee we'll get it. That said, you'll definitely get your energy being transformation at least, along with some very likely powers that will allow for frontline face punching such as regen and enhanced strength.

That said, I was tinkering with the system and thought what would be the ideal build if we picked Rhys the intel officer? Probably something very spy-like. Can ideally go invisible, or at least change their face, voice etc. to avoid detection and get into places he shouldn't be in. Also, some form of sensory powers for better info gathering and some surprise mobility options like teleportation. He only has Potency 6, so the highest we can go is Potency 9 if we dilute the dosage by 3.

Ran into problems immediately that while I could build someone who can change their face and appearance pretty easily due to the amount of Transformation Keywords we have, that was about it really. If I was to go with this, he'd be more like the Question than any conventional superhero since his superpowers exist to augment his normal skillset rather than be what defines him.

The alternative was "Rhys is a soldier. Give him gun-based superpowers. Maybe have him be an entire fire team on his own via Construct Creation [Floating Guns]" which while cool since he was basically a Sankta in my mind with this build, we also didn't have enough keywords for it.

Like this, but for a 28-year-old man. :p

All this to say that expanding our library of DNA should be priority #1 to give us more flexibility in our future superheroes, especially since average Potency levels really does limit our options by a lot compared to us going buck wild with Mona.

Huh yeah i see what you mean, honestly im not very good at seeing combos or mix-maxing probably could go for this on a future date. Also totally agree we need more Dna samples if we really want to optomized our ideas into reality. Also also, huh nice Gun making while simple could get broken depending on how much knowledge one has on said weapons. Kinda like Creati (Momo from MHA) or Miss Militia (Worm). Would there be limits or could they end up making Ak that shoots lightning, or A Shotgun that shoots swords that explodes into more swords who also explode into more tiny exploding swords (A exploding Crumpet to whoever gets THIS reference)

[X] Plan Dynamic Bionicle

[X] Plan The Being From Star X

-[X] [Novalight] (Potency 8)
-[X] [Soldier X] (Potency 1)

I'm switching my vote, not because I think they'll win but because I was up late last night analyzing the system and want to bask in my own hubris

Dynamic Bionicle will combine the Outsider's flexibile energy body with Dragonsteeth's versitle constructs to create a modular energy mecha surrounding merola(who will morph into spherical a bio-nucleus). DB-Merola can swap out parts of her energy body to fit any given situation.

Her "parts" will be supplied by Red Huntress's Targeting Element. They'll generally be limbs with exotic weapons

She can also force parts together to make dumber sub-mechas, like how power rangers can make slightly-less-megazords from a single zord. These mechas as smarter than Dragonsteeth's constructs, but still pretty dumb. Probably on par with a trained hunting animal

This gives her flexibility, delegation, and the ability to specialize for multiple things

The Being From Star X would be fucking Ultraman because Energy+Energy Body=bigger energy body. Merola would be able to manipulate its form and constitution to exciting degrees, all from the safety of her nucleus. Said nucleus would be improved by Soldier X's power of Fitness, tho whether that'll mean a hardier nucleus or a better projection is anyone's guess.

The bus hasnt stopped so ill do this one too:

Merola would create her own custom metamaterial with some sort of miraculous property to it. More importantly, it'll become a vector for her powers.

Astral Merola's metal has 2 modes: Egg and Shell. Shell acts like Adamant, Egg creates golems. These golems can be modified with Trait Yolks(tm) that go inside the eggs(which I like to think are spheroids orbiting around her)and modify the golem's form and function. Trait Yolks are provided by Red Huntress's power and can be spread across golems or stacked onto one. This means Astral merola can make tons of golems or one really, really good golem and then some lesser ones. Her only instinsic "weakness"(more of a limit really) is that she can't give yolks to golems that already hatched. Maybe more complex golems take longer to hatch.

Thank you for reading this trainwreck of an effortpost. I will be taking NO criticism, because I am 100% right. I know this because the Levithan entered my dreams last night and gave me a mere Mote of its divine insight

....all this talk about Yolks made me remember the Billy Hatcher game on the gamecube... man im old.... never did get the neccesary coims to unlock the Sega characters as partners....... and now I want a Egg based hero thats somehow both stupid looking yet a badass...Hero Eggman when? (Lol)

This is a very good one, not gonna lie.

Also, I'll say it now since the front runners are pretty well decided, there is an absolutely *busted* combination for only 8 in here that I left clues for. I wonder if anyone saw them?

Doubt ill guess it bit does it involve Dragonsteeth and Memoria in some way? The ability to take photos with drones does expand teleportation i guess.... MIN-MAXERS OF SV, TO YOUR KEYBOARDS!

…does it include either Adamant or Steadfast?

Edit: 8 after Potency Reduction or 8 in Base Power Potency?

If it is 8 in base… Adamant+Daggermaw+Outsider would be my guess. Max transformation, high strength and durability in either form.

If it's 8 at base, here's my idea.

Deadman (5) + Adamant (3)

Adamant was explicitly described as "a fount of Liquid Metal in human skin". Deadman could turn himself into magma, (edit: his blood, close enough) which can be the result of overheating metal. There are our clues, but what about our powers?

With this combo, our poor, poor candidate can:
  • Transform themselves into walking magma (try and punch this, villains)
  • Immediately kill themselves with the metal in order to trigger the Deadman powers.
  • Heat up almost any metal in their vicinity. (This includes themselves!)
  • Make some sort of… liquid admantanium. Oh god.
Edit: this is just the "make 5 Tolerance and up candidate suffer" plan.

You know, for someone called Bitterman, I must say this quest really is pretty Sweet so far.

[X] Plan: Chimera

I want this plan because it feels like a better fit for our situation long-term. While hypernova brings outrageous power right out the gate, I believe this is a short-term benefit in that, while we will get to stomp on the ongoing mayhem quickly, it will be possibly at the cost of great collateral damage and a novice-heroine that is specialized towards a style of fighting which focuses on offense more than anything.

Chimera is a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none, which is still better than a master of one, and is absolutely not a slouch for it. I was more or less repeating Derpmind's argument there though, I'm going to quote her here actually.
On Hypernovae (Unquenchable Star Ver) vs. Chimera, Hypernovae is a good plan. It's aiming for a simple and powerful powerset. But I'm voting for Chimera because I think it'll be far more interesting and useful. For Hypernovae, Novalight and Steadfast have very straightforward, very inflexible powers, making for a power not really suited for anything but direct combat. Not to mention the difficulty in controlling Novalight's highly destructive power. Meanwhile, Chimera provides tons of flexibility and power, with a wide range of possible powers paired with strong power synergies. Chimera aims to get someone both powerful enough to throw down with the heaviest of enemy hitters, (not to mention it's a potency 13 plan,) but also give a variety of abilities suited for all superheroing situations. And even that all aside, I just think Chimera will be a more interesting power to read about, what with a guarantee of a transformation ability and the likelihood of all kinds of useful stuff. Chimera tells a story I'm more interested in reading, so it has my vote.

I guess that if I had to put into words the feelings I get from each leading plan... Hmm let me just stream-of-consciousness a bit here:

The Hypernova plan gives me the feeling of making a hero that's like a lighthouse or a great, ornate piece of artillery, standing bright and imposing and tall, a symbol for others to rally around in their light/might...

The Chimera plan gives me the feeling of a hero that is capable of matching up to any threat, she wouldn't be necessarily just a lighthouse or a big stick, she could be a wall protecting those behind them, maybe a symbol for different kinds of heroes? I am interested in the potential for an openly 'monstrous' Big Good Hero and the way it may affect the lives of those metas of a less human persuasion, the dragon 'saving the princess' so to speak instead of the knight is a cool narrative imo. An example for others to follow even.

Maybe I'm rambling but, I just... I really want a dragon in these trying times I guess? A dragon that possibly scales up to any given threat, possible without a power ceiling unlike the other plan? Food for thought.

Overall the Chimera plan feels like a more down-to-earth one in that its perspective isn't always one cranked to the top of the scale. Like, with Hypernova you always feel larger than life, but with Chimera you only feel larger than life when in combat, outside of combat Chimera might be more down to earth, perhaps, paradoxically, more 'human'?

Another thing I came up with while writing. This girl has to have a civilian identity right? Well, nothing better to separate your secret identity from the super one than turning into a dragon when it's hero-time huh? :p

Also the girl bakes cookies and hoards merch, I want to see a dragon that uses her own fire (or I guess maybe solar energy?) to bake cookies and hords merch.

Also Also, dumb question @Bitterman but, I assume the names of the power-blendings won't be those of the resulting heroine, but rather only those of the plan right? (Definitely not me hoping someone doesn't like plan chimera because they don't want the dragon to be called chimera, and that by confirming that the name can be something else they will be more amenable to voting for the plan. Overthinking? Who, me? :V)

After further deliberation, when we get our next character for this plan, the plan will be called… "Sir Suffering".

Sir=Man, like in "Deadman"

The suffering part is self-explanatory. But Rhys got zero votes in that candidate vote, he can just get used to it.

Or Heatran, or Pele or Oh hi there Akainu.
Hmm... Captain Magma(Spongebob squarepants!)
Krakatoa
Eruptor
Lava girl/boy/Man/Woman
Vulcanusmon (minus the mon)
Volcanic Emperor/Empress
Lavos (....wait no thats the giant space parasyte)
Magma Dragoon
Lava Golem...
I think ill stop here before I make a site sized page. But yeah fun!

I got 0 idea what the secret combo the QM is teasimg but i hace a stange feeling it may involve Regeneration, Transformation or Energy Manipulation. I think we can get up to 3 with some combos but i digress im clueless.
With 8 base i mean

…maybe the secret is getting something up to 4?

Hmmm since were aiming for a base of 8 for the secret tech we can nix Novalight, Automne and The Red Huntress to many points and Red huntresses 6 points plus with a plus 2 or 2 plus 1 doesnt seem good enough. Other observations Ive made are: I think it may involve soprano in some way? The power is reliant on Solar Radiation, but will it stay like that after combos? Stack enough Energy Manipulation and we could end up with something capable of absorbing ALL forms of energy possibly.... like a more PR friendly Metroid... (Thats an idea for the future). gonna re read the descriptions a bit more...
Edit: Or at least change it to thermal energy.... i think controling Kinetic energy maaay be too advance.
Edit 2: Yeah my brain is fried so here my last combos:
Outsider+ Soprano+Daggermaw+Soldier X for 8 points. @ transforms + 2 Energy manipulations could maaybe mutate into a different type of energy absorbtion.
Outsider+ Adamant+ Daggermaw for 3 Transformation. Thats it for me. Now to wait 2 hours for Bitterman to show us something we should have seen in hindsight.
