Well ya know, as long as we dont decide to 'sully his cloak'(🤢) he probably wouldnt be too much of an issue. hopefully

Having Cole would be unpleasant in case he happens to win the duel but yeah, even with him in the Kingsguard we may be able to avoid a lot of the canon nastiness if he doesn't end up with that complex about how broke his Kingsguard vows.

Rather would not risk it personally, though also I'd vote for anyone but Cole.

let's not be too hasty, there's so many ways in which these fights can go wrong or cause some unintented conflict. Let's keep showing Otto we have some control over our impulses.

If only for a chance for PR boost from beating Kingsguard (even if before he got a cloak)

Given our prowess description of not being as good as experienced knights I doubt we'd win, but it would be a chance for us to get some practice in serious spars and we're good enough that even if we don't win we could potentially put on a good showing.

It would also help weed out in advance those Kingsguard candidates that won't be willing to tolerate our habits at all, since its doubtful they would agree to duel us to begin with.

Honestly "knighted young, fought in the melee a lot" implies a pretty high level of skill, and he can be trained against the other Kingsguard to improve further?

"Battle experience" is overstated WRT qualities as a knight [of the kingsguard].

So far as loyalty I don't know why people are assuming Desmond Caryon - is that a typo from Caron, by the by? - is especially loyal here?

I've been convinced by the prospect of potentially finding a knight okay enough with our habits to train us. If we're seriously going to pursue obtaining knighthood then we're probably going to be spending a lot of actions on training. Having an experienced teacher would probably make those a lot more efficient.

And hey, maybe this is our chance to find a prominent knight that's also sufficiently non sexist that they'll be willing to knight us if we do good enough. Our own grandfather was knighted by a kingsguard to boot.

do kind of like sir desmond but i like this more for character reasons.

Also don't want us to accidentally end up with Cole after all.

That's a strong argument indeed. Cole certainly is the best fighter among the lot after all, so chances are that if we choose the Strong option he will make it. Though I would choose Mallister among the candidates.

On the other hand I already said last vote that we need to build up our reputation. We don't need to win, we just need to give a good showing after all.

Hmmm.

Well... dice rolls it is, I guess. Dice rolls plus approval voting because I do think Mallister is the best candidate.

Also Crispin is one of the most skilled knights of the age and ends up being what appears to be a pretty capable battle commander. His appointment to the kingsguard ended up being a catastrophe for Rhaenyra in canon, but in case the Strong option does end with us having Crispin, we might be able to avoid the same sort of souring of their relations that happened in canon, in which case he could be a pretty useful minion.

no reason to pre-ordain Mr. Crisp as an enemy, he seems the sort to be pretty accepting of our whole thing with being a Marcher and low-born, e just have to avoid banging him if im being honest, dont give him a complex and we're very chill.

Edit: Honestly we could also look into a marriage with Harwin Breakbones, just cut off the out of wedlock issues at the head, thohe might be less accepting of my Rhaenicet ambitions due to the whole not actually a sham wedding thing

In terms of marriage prospects Harwin does seem like a pretty good default option. As the heir to an important lordship he is prominent enough for us to be able to marry and seems like a relatively easy way to find a loving marriage.
