Let's take the life-changing field trip with Zuko this time around. It feels like a good continuation of the confrontation between him and Azula in the "first" loop.

I don't know about a field trip, but I'm all for tracking zuko down and if necessary sitting on him to make him listen while Azula explains precisely what sacrifices his mother has made that he needs to show proper appreciation for.

Also, while I'm here, I'd like to point out that by stationing Ty Lee to boring guard duty, she has likely passed the time telling them of her friends, effecting their perception of Azula, which is why the Captain is willing to take responsibility where normally he'd deflect. He understands deflecting will not save him, and has perceived through ty lee what sort of actions and qualities Azula will value enough to consider sparing them.

Honestly, I wouldn't count on that keeping Katara down/out. She's a prodigy even greater than Azula, she'd probably figure out a way to break out before the comet arrives.

Because she gained new information that changes how she'd do it so it isn't retrying something that didn't work, but trying an update version that keeps in mind the new information.
So keeping Katara hostage 2.0, including strict bloodbending-prevention-rules around full moon.
