Dear reader! Whether you are new here, archive-reading and whatnot, or you are already someone who has been with us for quite a while, I would like to say a few words that I believe are best kept close to mind.

-This is an MLP quest. And more importantly, none of us are gratuitously cruel. So good things will happen on this quest, and I hope that enough good things have already happened to prove that.
-This is also a horror quest, so bad things will happen. Bad things might happen to good characters if you are not able to protect them, and you most certainly will not be able to intervene if you lack the tools to do so.
-And finally, this is a quest in which you jostle with powers greater than yourself, with all that it entails.

Please, do keep those things in mind as you go forward. But ultimately, this is also a quest in which it is hoped we all have fun! So if any of the above points is not exactly your cup of tea, or somehow make the experience as a whole "not worth it", then this quest might not be for you. Which is fine! Individual tastes are a thing, so don't think any more about it if you don't want to read anymore. And regardless, I hope you have a lovely day!

So what if she's a friend, Velvet's going on a family trip this week as well. If you think it's worth it to you, fine. I think it's misguided to just assume there won't be more options like this in the future that are just as relevant and just as important. The idea that they won't happen soon is also way to optimistic. This quest has consistently been a balance between maintaining a sense of normalcy and how much is Velvet going to risk raising suspicion to achieve her goals.

Pitt has fair points, but so does everybody else, and I'm more comfortable just getting two bonuses than slacking off extra. Between the vacation and the extra action it feels more like that turn we completely blew off our work for our Dad because we really didn't expect to have to remain in that job for long.

We've mostly avoided combat because we've ignored expeditions, imo. The chances of being in combat have markedly increased with the war with Copper.

Once we're able to use Forge safely that is the first thing I want to do that turn as well.

So far the only Mansus "Fight" we have had is running tf away from Baldomare. The only other potential fight we had was maybe fighting through whatever the gribbles in the Red church were, and even then we could just juke them. Honestly with two wounds escape and avoidance is always the better option anyways, since Mansus monsters are, for the most part, going to be a great deal more dangerous than mortals.

Finally, I am 99% sure our Personal Sacrament is mentally Dangerous, not physically. She's looking into alternate histories, not physically transplanting herself into them. Unless you think the risk is like, walking into traffic while seeing none, or something, but in that case IotH wouldn't be of help anyways.

Wake threats are a reasonable point.

it shouldn't even need saying. Obviously the main danger is seeing something fascinating or dreadful . Ideally the best way to deal with the sacrament in my opinion would be getting a Winter 4 influence and doing all the actions while under its effects.

That said our winter reroll makes a single Sacrament action per turn relatively safe, at least as long as we're not doing other winter stuff. AotL winter can also help.

Tossing out another variant of Pittauro's plan cause everyone seems to like the overall tone of it. I don't like not scrying for the key, but we have needed to cure our frightened malus for a while, and it does help with the weak point of most plans where only Comet is acting as a guard.
It's basically the not neglecting work version only doing the Sacrament instead of climbing the manse.
I'd prefer the Sacrament, but I'm voting for both for now cause I don't want to neglect work and if we're not going to do that we need to climb higher.

I think this is an inefficient use of time, though. We know we want the Sacrament regardless of situation, and (judging from earlier thread-discussion) have some reason to suspect we'll need some sort of Sacrament to traverse the higher layers of the House, even if the Door doesn't end up requiring it.

If we can get this started early, then we can hopefully speedrun Mansus locations requiring it, like we did the second search for Luna's dream-door, rather than finding a place and then spending turns on the required Sacrament and then coming back.

Not to mention we have to do at least 1 exploration per turn. And now that we are "SO VERY CLOSE" I don't want to use up unknown locations when we might end up needing extra turns to fulfill requirements, not when we can fill up at least one (having a Sacrament) in advance.

we still have enough of a backlog anyway. Including what I'd want to explore now:

1 wood location (1 point)
1 temple of the wheel (1 point)
1 stairways location (2-3 points)
1 Depths of the Ruined Church (1 point)
What's left before the next door (1-2 points)

By the time we've done ALL of this, we'll also definitely have an SH sacrament, which will unlock the Tower and the Moon (? points).

And also likely the door and new locations (? points)
 
Hey guys I just found a way to search for the Frangiclave without it costing us a bit: tell Pride during this turn's FO that Axe is on a quest to find an ancient sacred relic of her people and that a sure way to catch her attention (and maybe even win her heart) is to find its location, no way that he won't use all the resources in his hooves to find it! 😁

Can we at least change Plan Pittauro but with our SH Sacrament so we can AotL Winter rather than Grail? The dangerous action that ties into the thing that always frays Velvet's sanity should receive more prep than giving our estranged brother a pep talk.

Yeah, this is pretty much a waste of an action. It could be interesting to do the "family stuff" with him, but it's far more important to get things set up so we can protect the ones that are already our family, or our dear friends. The Velvet house just doesn't matter that much in the grand scheme of things.

For the Baldomare action, avoiding suspicion is still pretty important, after all, especially since we have highly-principled Bureau members living in Ponyville now. It would be more useful to use her to get info on Copper, but getting a proper place to summon Velvet Axe and Biedde is more urgent, so it seems a good idea to do that first.

For Mareinette, IotH is a malus we've been working with for a long time, and it's interfered narratively and mechanically in the past (e.g. Daughter of Axes having to do the Twilight expedition combat without us, leading to her being injured).
None of our social actions this turn are the kind we want her interfering in, and getting Comet to guard should be feasible (and if it fails I think Velvet would decide to sacrifice the Incision to put Mareinette on guard duty, for lack of better options), so we may as well get rid of that restriction now.

Birb has made it clear the malus has no narrative or mechanical effect beyond colouring the text and us not paricipating in fights unless pushed+giving us a -10 in combat. It doesn't change the options we get at all.

I know, I was referring to the "not participating in fights" having indirect narrative and mechanical effects, as in the above case. The -10 is less important given how rarely we do it, I suppose, but even disregarding the "why didn't you help me!" aspect, having an additional combatant on our Expeditions would be pretty helpful in avoiding failures.

Knowing that everything we are planning on will be made irrelevant makes mostly not doing stuff this time around... water on a ducks back?

Baldomares an eldritch being from another reality.

I would expect better results from a real estate agency. Or Mayor Mare if we want to spoil ourselves.

If she were still going to be our enemy it would be better to keep in mind her ability to do things like scry our family effortlessly from manehattan and summon who knows how many mares in light.

But in our corner it's important to keep probably limitations in mind.

at least for my plan it's temple AND going higher, and Mareinette and Baldomare are very much not wasted. We've been wanting to remove Incision forever and she's the only way to do it without a failure chance, and Baldomare finding a safe place to summon Axe in is important.

It's not inherently awful? The things that are picked are for sure things that can theoretically be picked?

You are putting a lot of weight on "Baldomare is the name of finding things" to find a location. Rather than her actual abilities.

The best possible outcome I can see from this is her finding somewhere that isn't too expensive for us to buy.

Which will mean we would have to turn to mindwhammying someone anyway.

If this was Baldomare our enemy then I could see bird handwriting it. But it's pretty clear most Name's we summoned don't try very hard.

Hmmm.

Oh yes. And I don't understand why we are making the Burea more personally loyal to us when Luna will in theory becoming its leader next turn. Or the turn after maybe.

But once again. It's not really anything I find particularly upsetting.
