Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

Soak +5, soak is done at -2 DC discount, -4 DC when soaking heat and fire damage rather breaks the game with your build, the others are still a bit on the powerful side, but I think they can work.
I mean with our crafting skill and kingdom we could just as easily* make an army of mundane kill bots or tanks which actually is far more powerful. We wouldn't be able to wear the armor most of the time for the same reason we can't drive a tank around. It makes it clear that we are looking for a fight.

Then again I am of the opinion that more power never breaks a quest just changes it's nature.

*Actually far more easily

It's a splendor. It normally stays unmanifested in our anima. We can summon it for 1 mote and a turn of concentration. We can also dismiss it after a fight.

Oh didn't remember that. Yes that is much more convenient than I was thinking. And it also gives a good baseline for how good a splendor needs to be for Molly to bother wearing it. Better than a scene length charm that costs one mote of essence.

RATIONALE
Michael knows Molly's Crown ability, and so we dont need to reveal anything to someone new.
The Queens, like the rest of the supernatural community, respect the authority and general reputation of the Knights and the Swords they carry.

He also has some diplomatic experience with the Fae, and unlike Harry, Titania has no pre-existing grudges against him that might complicate matters.
And he's better protected than most against Nemesis attempting to retaliate afterwards.

There's also the small human angle that of all the people here, he's the only one thats a parent, and might be able to speak to both Titania the grieving mother and Lily the ex-changeling in a way that gets to them.

Also, unlike Elaine, Michael lives in Chicago, not on the west coast.
He's our Mentor 5.
This situation appears to be one where he'd be applicable.

[X] Get in contact with Fix the Summer Knight about Nemesis, guide him into a confrontation in which it will reveal itself.

An important point - unlike Mab, who was more willing to kill her subject than to increase her debts, Titania might go for healing. In fact, this is a second part of what we have to sell - exorcism.

Nemesis is Serious Business.
I have serious doubts about the ability of a relatively young Summer Knight to survive a confrontation with a senior Summer Fae that has Nemesis Inside(TM), even if Molly is nearby.

Furthermore, Fix is Lily's ONLY surviving friend from her mortal days, and her trusted companion.
If some bright scheme gets him killed, we are not only destabilizing Summer, who now have to find a new Summer Knight?
We are both socially isolating Lily further, and potentially making an enemy of her for getting her friend killed.

And thats not counting the potential for other collateral damage.
Or Titania's reaction.
This is entirely too high risk for too little benefit.

An important point - unlike Mab, who was more willing to kill her subject than to increase her debts, Titania might go for healing. In fact, this is a second part of what we have to sell - exorcism.
To be fair to Mab, she can exorcise Nemesis from lesser fae if they give her permission to do so.
She did it to Lea after all.
She might be doing that to the lesser fae right now.

Make no mistake, Titania is entirely capable and willing to do the same thing. As are the rest of Summer.
Mother Summer doesnt brew plagues just as a hobby.
The hope here is that some of these guys are valuable enough that she will take the option of exorcism if offered.

It would be funny how many political quagmires Molly can simplify and cut through by calling her dad, if it weren't so awesome. Michael here raising the bar; other dads get called to fix the broken car, Michael gets called to address the complex power balance that gets upended when dealing with Outsiders, Fae Nobles, and Exalted shenanigans.

This is thinking of Titania like she is Mab, she is not driven by rational calculus of value. The question is if she likes them enough after she discovers what they have become.
I would disagree.

You cant run a Court entirely on bellyfeel. Sure, I think its established that emotion and liking plays a significant part in their decisionmaking, but if that was all, or even most of it, Summer would not be a viable institution, let alone one thats supposed to be capable of being a counterweight to Winter.

Titania cant have run things for a thousand years based on whether or not she likes people.
I mean, would a Titania who apparently doesnt like humanity very much care to counterbalance Winter's actions?

Ok, this won't won, but

[X] Call in a favor with Mab for her help in handling this information in s way that won't sour your relationship with Summer, or tip over the balance of the courts
Spending a favor from the fey to do something ultimately beneficial to them more than us rubs me the wrong way. I'm all for helping, but that stuff is our compensation for significant investment and/or risk.

If we're going to involve Winter, why not use a lesser favor? Maeve will owe us for Vegas; she doesn't want to expose her prior condition, but she doesn't have to in order to attest to the fact that we can reliably find and banish nemesis. Which is a much stronger claim than the summer advisor Harry might seek could feasibly give.

From there we'd just proceed with Lash's plan as given and present it all at once as an effort to screw nemesis and get paid for doing it.

Nemesis is clearly plotting around the summer lady, so we made a thing to hard counter what happened to her to go with a list of names of the people who probably helped it happen last time.

For a small fee we can strip nemesis from them and mutilate it by killing the shards. Standard smug archdevil with a clear profit motive.

If we dump this on Lily along with the Splendor and she flubs handling it, and Titania comes to the conclusion that Molly was trying to sponsor a coup in the Summer Court? What do you think will happen?
Dunno, propably a power-struggle between her and Lily?

With the Summer Knight closer to Lily though, I doubt she can easily off her.
Coming after Molly is possible, but we don't exactly have to worry about regular hitsquads.

All in all I'm perfectly fine letting Lily roll the dice on this one.
We can't solve everyone's problems.

If it works, great for her.
If not, some infighting weakening the Summer Court wouldn't be a bad thing either.

When dealing with the winter etiquette is the god social because even if they like you that is unlikely to change their behavior much.

With Summer Empathy is the god social because how they feel about you means everything. Good thing we have both. Very unfortunate that Summer court are not creatures of darkness. Although that does mean that Nemesis should be even more obvious to HellScry Charka.

Summer is not a institution, it is a kingdom yes, it has structure, but institution misses the point. The court loves the Queen and the Queen cherishes her subjects. They are all driven not by calculus but by elan. As for her relationship with humanity, she quite likes them, what she does not like is modernity, she thinks it is a form of madness, a kind of fever that will hopefully pass quick. I cannot say much more than that without spoilers, but I will remind you guys that in his confusion after his long awakening Usum called the fey Raksha. They obviously are not quite that, but that word was not idly spoken.

Ok.

[X] Call on Maeve to attest (without disclosing that it concerns her specifically) that we can reliably identify and exorcise Nemesis to Titania

Sure it would, if you have developed enough precognition / fortune powers.

We don't have that favor yet and I believe that going into fey debt is a terrible idea.

How about we go excise Dresden's fairy godmother in return for her testimony?

[X] Excise Dresden's fairy godmother in return for her help in this matter.

Shame we didn't pick up VEE this would be so easy if we could get friends to wish for allies among the summer court.

If Titania thinks we swung at her, she gets to swing back. We DONT want to see a Queen swinging at us with Intent.

There is no power struggle; a Queen is way more powerful than a Lady. And Lily is not Maeve.
Maeve had been at the job for centuries, and had the advantage of Mab being her mother; Lily has only been at things here for 4 years, and Titania is not going to give her the slack that a child might get.

Fix is not the equal of people like Eldest Gruff who owe Titania loyalty, either.
And HE owes Titania loyalty as well.

A weakened Summer Court fucks us.
The Summer Court are an integral part of Reality's defenses. They are both a counterbalance to Winter, and they send troops to the Outer Gates; when we see them in Cold Days, Summer knights are the battlefield medics there.

Nemesis isnt devoting resources to infiltrating them for nothing.
Sure it would, if you have developed enough precognition / fortune powers.
Not relevant here.
The Courts dont run on precog; if the Queens had precog that accurate, Nemesis infection would never be successful and they would never be surprised in foreign affairs.

I dont see how thats supposed to work.
And Im having trouble reconciling it with the picture we got of Summer's workings in the books
But I'll take your word for it.

The way it is supposed to work is like an idealized kingdom. Assuming competence, honor and good judgement are things one likes, and a good ruler should like those things, then those fey who demonstrate them will be valued by the Queen. The difference is in most day to day situations under the hood, though that might change in extraordinary situations.

Let's put it this way if you saw an idealized kingdom run and mostly populated by Raksha who are all committed to the story of a fairytale kingdom until all their roles in the story ossified into mantels that can be worn by their Raksha blooded. Then over time all the original Raksha are replaced by Raksha blooded mortals who fill the same roles influenced by their mantels.

Edit:
Thinking about it that way in terms of fairytale logic then Lilly has to be the one to solve the nemesis problem*. Then Titania comes to appreciate her as her own person and they all live happily ever after.

*maybe with the help of the summer knight that still fits.

So essentially Raksha roleplaying an idealized kingdom without breaking character is the ideal.
Allegedly. Basically Brettonia, if it lived up to its own mythology.
Fair enough.

But Summer Fae are not mortals.
The closest thing to Raksha-blood/Fae blood mortals are changelings.

Yes exactly. Your wording of But suggests disagreement that doesn't exist. They aren't mortals anymore.

For example in the Billy Goats Gruff case mortals are not always humans.

My understanding is that most of them were never mortals.
There are changelings who get to choose whether to become Fae or mortal, but most Fae have never been mortals or humans.
