Ah, yeah that would do it also. So they actually don't know what the Getter truly is... hopefully neither us or them will be finding out. Because if we do, that means things went very wrong somewhere.

Ok, so post overhaul, Distortion Field has become a reskinned Beam Shield (+4 armor DC, increases to +8 against standard Beam Weaponry; accounting for Ability and Armor, this means that an enemy needs to roll above 12 (against Akito)/13 (against all of our other available Aestivalis units)/20 (against Nadesico) to hit with non-Beam weaponry; 16/17/24 when using Beam weaponry. Nadesico also has access to the following supportive Spirit Commands (again, bold represents something that, as of now, is unique to the ship): Scan, Renew (Full heal + recharge of ammo and energy), Trust x2, Rouse, Faith (Full heal). On the one hand, this does make Nadesico and its Aestivalis units a good choice for deployment, but on the other hand, Celestial Being still provides some things that are unique to them (Trans-Am, Tactical Forecaster (+8 for Large scale battles where Sumeragi is involved), Agitate, GN Stealth Field and Wish to a lesser extent)... maybe we ought to drop Daimos and use the free space from dropping Daimos to take both Nadesico and Celestial Being.

Poor Daimos...

Although the reveal that the Council knows very little about Getter rays and how they function is...mwah, mwah, perfection.

Shin Getter, or worse, Shin Getter Dragon, is going to make them shit themselves!

I do suspect the Getter rays to at least... disdain the Council. I mean, three machines, three hotblooded pilots, it isn't exactly hard people!

If they don't, y'know, outright hate them for the shit they're pulling across dimensions. I imagine insulting the Getter Rays with your weak intelligence while you try slaughtering it's favored locals makes them...a little angry.

And to be very blunt, Getter Rays aren't exactly nice in the first place.

It is unfortunate (QM did confirm that units get better the more they are deployed, so trying to shuffle around what units we bring isn't a bad idea), but this is a pretty important battle (especially since the Council is going to butt in as well), so that does mean we ought to focus on a good split between heavy hitters and supportive units, and I believe picking Celestial Being + Londo Bell + Photon Power Labs Team + having the Rose, the Freedom and the Destiny as preselected deployments does cover our hard hitter needs (and this is before accounting for the fact that Samsara plans to send ALICE as well), meaning we get to see how her new frame measures up), so our last two picks ought to cover a support role, and Daimos doesn't really offer anything on that front.

Considering that the HRL reinforcement pack does give us Gun Ru units (and the fact that we can get HRL forces as reinforcements at all), the Black Knights did manage to secure our alliance with the HRL and stop the Chinese High Eunuchs from siding with Britannia. We're likely to hit the Geass Order base the next time a Code Geass event pops up (whenever that may be), since there are no more major events between the last Code Geass event we've had and the assault on the facility in Taklamaklan. And on another note, we may want to send one funnel-using/bit-using mobile suit after the Forbidden, since its beam reflection equipment is dependent on being able to face the beam in question, and funnels can attack from multiple angles at once, which would allow them to bypass the Geschmeidig Panzer system.

The only way it could've been better is if they knew juuuust enough to recognise Shin Getter for what it really is. Just to see the utter horror on their faces when they realise the sheer level to which they are fucked.

Yeah, I'd send Amuro, Char or Haman personally. They're the most likely to be able to figure out and exploit that weakness.

Yeah, we...uh, really need to start doing that.

We're kinda falling into the FE Noob Trap here, where we just use a few of our favorite units unless otherwise forced.

Nadesico's enforced buff here is proof that it's becoming a problem for us.

And that force is going to start biting us in the ass, especially with Daimos and Jeeg.

I wonder what it's like being a grunt in the Solar Vanguard considering how one day you're duking it out against a bunch of Arm Slaves in order to protect a highscholer with hypertech in her head and in another day you are fighting a 3 way battle against a bunchof interdimensional invaders and end up killing the queen of a isekai world.I'm guessing it's probably considered a rite of passage to not be considered a newbie by being sent to another dimension,fighting a massive super robot,getting encircled by a larger force or having to put up with at least one named character related shenanigan.

If I had to guess, at this point our Mooks are closer to the Black Tri-Stars than average mooks.

Because anyone who's still alive in a goddamned Leo of all things has seen some shit.

So they're somehow not dying fighting in something that was obselete halfway through of the OYW,nevermind the insanity of a SRW setting where every other 15 year old has the UberMEgeLAuncher DeathCannon powered by various types of science breaking insanity.
Pretty much in a nutshell. It'd be funny if someone in-universe lampshades about that.

Vote closed. Update to come tomorrow.

Our generics can pull their weight due to a number of potential reasons:
  1. We likely have high-ish recruiting standards, so that means that anyone who's part of our standard armed forces are already better than average;
  2. High to very high levels of loyalty for our troops (up to fanatical loyalty, stuff like "I live for His Excellency and I die for his Excellency. The difference is trivial." or "LONG LIVE TREIZE KHUSHRENADA!");
  3. An all-star cast of very good commanders, tacticians and plotters: Treize, Sergei, Kati, Sumeragi, Lelouch, Cornelia and so on;
  4. In some cases, high quality generic mobile suits are being used;
  5. In one case, Newtypes.

Omake: New Recruit Survival Guide
@theguynamedwafer
Behold the first omake of this quest that I just thought of.Also do omake's give rewards?

A Solar Vanguard pilot's survival guide
Preface

As a new pilot of the Solar Vanguard you are probably coming in with the idea that after clearing the ungodly amounts of tests,signed the 20 waivers saying not to spill the beans if you see weird shit that the hard part is over and that you will be able to work with the best of the best in order to fight all sorts of enemies.The reality is that you are often turned into adhoc reinforcements to a really weird variety of forces and events that will most likely involve you being at least outgunned,out teched,outmaneuvered,completely surrounded,facing some sort of war crime,facing something not meant for human comprehension or something related to your allies that will give you a migraine somehow.Now most would expect me to go on some long winded and cynical diatribe about how you should never meet your heroes and that the best way to survive is through lots of prudence and firepower.

That is plain wrong.If you want to survive the Solar Vanguard you need to have something to believe in without telling everyone about it.Like if you have a Treize shrine that's perfectly fine and honestly perfectly healthy considering that I know at least one guy who's sole obsession in life is to collect every single pop idol related song and attend every single concert or die trying and yes that includes UN spacey while besieged by aliens.I personally believe in having a better future for any future descendants I may have.Prudence is only useful under the assumption that if you act cautiously then you're enemy is cautious too and not a raving lunatic who either doesn't think how a spient does or is the type to think that war crimes solve all issues which is sadly the 2 main types of enemies we fight.On the other hand taking risks makes it so that in the event you don't die you gain more than just the status quo.Firepower itself only goes so far when your enemy can't be killed with conventional weapons,is so absurdly powerful they can circumvent them and you usually lack the time to prepare that much add-ins to your MS between whatever events happen.Finally the people you work with are people,they aren't gods among men or secretly complete monsters but they're dealing with a lot of insane shit and have developed equally sufficient coping mechanisms that you can learn how to either avoid or not set off.

This isn't the silver bullet to your problems and there is literally no way I can answer all the situations but it should at least help you in not making the same mistakes we did when we first joined like not investing in soundproofing or trying to make Full Armor packs for our MS(I will never forget the utter nightmare that was the Full Armor Nemo and Full Armor Burai).So make the best out of any situation and try not to make everyone's day worse and you'll go from new recruit to veteran pilot pretty quick.

Full Armor Nemo and Full Armor Burai
Bad idea, those are your names.

You do FA equipment set when your mech got power to spare and isn't significantly decreased in performance in some other fashion.

Burai and Knightmare Frames in general follow philosophy of "Speed is life" and put lots of points into evasion. Encumbering them with Full Armor pack means poor Burai won't be able to dodge and will have armor closer to say, GM II. Bad Idea.

Nemo is a good grunt mobile suite, but it definitely doesn't have spare power for Full Armor equipment: Damn thing is optimized to run as is.

Also, please check for missing spaces and minor errors.
