He would probably like CLAMP because their relationships are all so melodramatic and over-the-top that it's impossible to take seriously no matter what happens.
The mindset required to run a large corporation and be an assassin are practically the same.
Both require that you see people as disposable.
What about expies of Subaru, or anyone else from CLAMP ?
What would Zaiyu think about Fushugi Yuugi or Akatsuki no Yona ?
Or she's illegitimate like @SillyLittleCoffe said, is in school because she's been said to be younger than Tomoe, and is going to join the team in the future as a sixth ranger.
Or Suzune isn't the fifth MG, she's the Naru and imouto is the fifth.
Impossible to take seriously ?
How dare you ! It isn't true at all.
CLAMP breaks their readers's hearts, that's what happens.

I didn't say CLAMP isn't heartbreaking! I said it's melodramatic and over the top. Which works quite well for some people and not for others. Rins would probably be quite affected by CLAMP romances. Zaiyu would think they're overdramatic and funny. Mitl would not notice the romances. Shayin would probably begin seriously trying to diagnose traumatic events in the creators' lives from the contents of their work. People read things differently.
Again, this is not actually fanfiction, so no comment on expies... so far. You're not wrong about the mindset similarity, though.
I haven't actually read either of those, so I can't speak too knowledgeably about his reaction to them. Yet. He'd probably ship Hak/Yona/Soo-Won, though.
I have a hard time thinking anyone could see Seishiro/Subaru as anything other than tearjerking. The Estil seem to encourage the mindset that you should laugh at the suffering of others, but I thought Zaiyu was overcoming that.
Does Tomoe have a hobby ? All the other MGs seem to have hobbies, even if it's online surfing for Kyoko. Does Kyoko write fanfiction or do computer programming BTW ? Are we going to meet her parents soon ? What kind of stuff does Suzune like to read outside of GL 4komas ? Her mom, based off Akira's description, seems like kind of a stressful person, is that why she doesn't like melodrama ?
Also I am so done with the X anime. It was OK in the beginning, and I liked the Yuzuriha and Satsuki episodes, but they spent way too much time repeating exposition (I'm thinking of the Yuuto/Sorata fight where they explain kekkai at least twice), got several eyes colors wrong, and then Subaru lost his eye the same episode Rainbow Bridge happened, with him and Seishirou having only met once before onscreen.
And right after there was a recap episode.
They also skimped on on Kotori saying that she would rather shatter in place of the Earth and Fuuma's meeting with the little girl with the frog toy, both of which are really important to his post-Kamuification character
Also KEICHII WASN'T THERE.
So anyway, I've decided to finally finish Serial Experiments Lain instead.
Edit: Which CLAMP character would Zaiyu most likely have a crush on ? Fuuma is tall and we know Zaiyu likes tall boys, plus his pre-awakening self is similar to Kaoru in some ways 👀.
But both Kamui and Arashi have really shiny eyes, especially in some of the official art.
I wonder if Zaiyu would get along with Yuuko.
Edit 2: I've been wondering where Fuuma got all those overcoats he started wearing after his awakening. Did he have a bunch of them stashed under his bed that he never dared to wear, or did he steal Kanoe's credit card and go on a shopping spree in Harajuku ?
And has CLAMP ever confirmed that onmyouji have enhanced perception abilities ? If not, I'd like to know how Seishirou avoids tripping over his own feet while walking around Tokyo's rooftops at night, wearing sunglasses, with only one functional eye.
I guess he just uses his shiki.
Edit 3: What happened to Tomoe's mom ? Did she suffer Sideplait Syndrome ?
You move toward the door on the left. Instantly, you have Kyoko and Kaoru's full attention.
"Kai?" Kyoko asks, her eyes enormous.
"If it would be very bad for people to meddle with it, we should make sure they aren't." It's only sensible. "Start with the worst possibility and work up from there. That way, if things go horribly wrong, we're prepared. And if they don't, we're pleasantly surprised."
Also, you still don't actually know what a morgue is, and you are going to find out.
Kyoko chews her lip. "I… guess that makes sense. But we should be careful. There might be something inside."
"We should be careful even if there isn't," Kaoru says darkly. There are definitely some implications in that tone, but you don't have the context to pick up on them. And you probably shouldn't ask right now. Hopefully the contents of the morgue enlighten you on what he's speaking around.
The door to the morgue is unlocked. You turn the handle and peek into the room.
Tiled floors. Tiled walls. The whole vast room is mostly empty space, dotted with a few gleaming metal tables. One long wall is entirely covered corner to corner with a single massive set of metal drawers. Each individual drawer looks unusually large. A person could fit in one of those compartments if they lay down carefully and didn't scrunch into a ball in their sleep. Overhead, the lights are on, but the room is uninhabited.
You breathe in and inhale the scent of death. It doesn't feel like someone died here, exactly, but this is a place where death gathers all the same.
Mitl would love it.
"There's nobody here," you say aloud, opening the door further to venture inside.
"Kai!" Kyoko hisses from behind you.
Kaoru is more direct. "Why are you going in?"
You glance over your shoulder at him and frown. "Just because nobody's here now doesn't mean nobody was here in the past. It would be bad if someone tampered with this place."
Death is a potent source of fuel for spells, after all. Even if you personally can't use it, you want to know where the energy that fills this place is coming from.
The two of them glance at each other, but file in after you. You pace a quick circuit around the room, searching for anything that's out of place. This would be easier if you could fully focus on detecting magic, but you're confident that you'll be able to tell if anything is strange. The first thing you detect is a strange concentration of dead organic matter in the drawers. It feels like some of Mitl's baggage, but with fewer plants attached. In other words, the room feels like it's full of dead bodies.
…why is the room full of dead bodies?
Only one way to find out, you suppose. You cross the room and approach the nearest drawer. It's unlocked. Before Kyoko and Kaoru can do anything, you throw it open.
A human corpse lies flat and still on the inner metallic surface. An old corpse.
The answer is obvious. It's a dead body, stashed here like potion ingredients, waiting for someone to use it. Some alterations have been made—the addition of preservative chemicals, organs removed, traces of post-death surgeries sutured up and left—but it's still fundamentally just a corpse. An old corpse. If you focus carefully, you can sense a very faint trace of magic around it, but you don't want to—
Wait. Wait. There is a compulsion laced around this corpse. Holding your breath, you examine it again with narrowed eyed. This time, you can see it: the faint tracery of power hooked into and around the body, projecting the desire to leave the corpse alone and move on.
Nothing strange here, that compulsion murmurs. That in itself is strange enough. The additional barrier spell wrapped tightly around the corpse and the freezing charm worked into the drawer itself are only the icing on the metaphorical cake. Something certainly happened here. And whatever it was, it was interested in preserving the body. Bodies. Because, with your senses already primed, you become aware that the whole set of shelves have similar contents in a similar condition.
This is a storage facility. A storage facility full of preserved corpses, spelled to be left alone by anyone who can't figure out the compulsion, many of which have traces of surgeries and removed organs. You don't know what human organs can be used for, but you're sure there are plenty of things a skilled mage could do with them.
Mitl would definitely like this place.
"Kyoko," you say, very calmly. "Is it normal for morgues to enchant their… inhabitants?"
She stops staring blankly at the corpse long enough to stare blankly at you. "What?"
"I don't think—" Kaoru starts.
You pick a pebble out of your pocket—specifically, the dimensional pocket in one of your charms, which contains many useful and tiny objects—and drop it down onto the corpse. The barrier flares for a moment, invisible to the naked eye but very much felt, and the pebble bounces off to the side at an impossible angle.
Kyoko gasps and covers her mouth. "Oh my god. How did you notice that?"
Kaoru doesn't, but his eyes go very wide, and then narrow. "What… what is that?"
"It's some kind of barrier, I think." You try to cross your arms and find yourself unable to. "Someone didn't want anyone but them to tamper with the bodies."
They're both gawking at you now.
"What?" you say defensively. "It's obvious. Unless post-mortem organ removal is normal for—" You check the little label on the drawer. "40-year-old corpses?"
"That's not normal," Kyoko whispers. "A 40-year-old body… why hasn't it been cremated yet?"
"Bribes, rampant incompetence, or nobody realized there was something wrong," Kaoru says grimly.
You have no idea what being cremated means, but Kaoru clearly does. He and Kyoko have a hushed discussion about the implications of this—bad, from what you can tell—while you move away from the body to examine the rest of the room. You detect some more barriers around the shelving unit and the room as a whole, and then some minor preservation spells on the tables and various equipment. Of which there is a lot. You don't understand why there need to be so many knives, saws, and tubes in a room apparently dedicated to the storage of the dead. Or at least, you don't until you pick up one of the saws and feel the echo of dead flesh on it.
Oh. Humans don't have magic. If they want to open up a corpse, they have to physically cut it open.
That explains a few things.
You carefully set the saw down and keep walking. You're just about finished a full lap around the room when you feel it. An absence.
??? 2D100 => (51 +71) = 122
You freeze in place, staring at a patch of floor directly in front of you. It's empty. There are no traces anything was ever located here. But you are suddenly, viscerally certain that this was not always the case.
A body disappearing from the morgue seems more important than the bodies that are apparently supposed to be there. Look deeper into the traces of what was taken. Uncertain odds of success. Will have consequences.
[ ] DISCUSS BARRIERS
Kaoru seems rather distracted by the barriers around the bodies. Help him figure out how they work. Of course, you already know how they work, but he doesn't.
[ ] STUDY CORPSES
You're fairly certain at least some of the bodies in the morgue have been used as reagents of some kind. Further study could shed some light on what exactly happened here, and perhaps why. Uncertain odds of success.
[ ] EXPLAIN YOURSELF TO KYOKO
Kyoko seems more than a little shocked by the proven presence of magic. She also seems like she wants to talk to you about something. Like, say, how you noticed there was a spell on the body you were examining. Time to make up a good excuse.

Tomoe definitely has hobbies. There's flower arranging--wait, she took that up because her parents expected her to. There's piano--which her mom signed her up for without asking. There's ink painting--which her dad suggested she take up. There's math... no, her dad suggested she take that up, too. There's naginata... but her grandparents heartily suggested she should take that up.
As I said, Tomoe definitely has hobbies. Most of them were assigned to her by her family.
Kyoko might write fic. Suzune is the computer whiz of the crew, though. Aside from slice of life GL, Suzune mostly reads non-fiction. Yes, her mom being highly-strung is part of why Suzune doesn't like drama.
The X anime took some liberties, yeah. Enjoy Serial Experiments Lain!
Honestly? Zaiyu would probably like Keiichi and Karen. He'd have trouble articulating why, though.
RE: coats, I always assumed he spontaneously generated them with his incredible cosmic power or just picked them out of the rubble.
Tokyo Babylon establishes that Seishiro can use psychic powers and his shikigami to see from a distance, so I assumed he just wasn't using his own eyes to perceive the world around him.
Tomoe's mom is a well-bred lady living a dignified and peaceful life. 😌
It's the Kyoko buff, when together with another character she can buff her friends investigations rolls. Also Kaoru didn't roll anything.... Or did he? The ??? Is hella suspicious.
