So, ignoring Zaiyu hallucinating for a second there, I'd prefer to check the middle first, because it's best to see what's unexpected before we go into what's expected. Besides, most of what's in the morgue isn't exactly prone to moving anymore... unless Mitl gets involved, but in that case my priority would be protecting our other arm.

New Kaoru theory: he's a familiar to the titan. Although the deja vu could be something else altogether? It's the kind of thing that would appear as an important parallel in a flashback or backstory reveal episode.

Wait, Zaiyu is taller than Lady Starspite ?
I thought he was average for an Estil.
Also, the flashback (before we leant it was a flashback) reminded me as well of reincarnation: I thought Zaiyu had met the Titan in a previous life (maybe he's the Titan's lost love !)
Or maybe it's Zaiyu that's the Titan; after all, several of the inspirations for the archetype were the result of a personality hidden deep within a previously benevolent character's mind.

I think our mc should go into politics and high level human bulshitery. Some persona of kinda sleazy young politician with agenda of improving condition of the planet and "working for the aliens". I am seriously for our mc hardcore larping. It's mostly for possible confrontation scene with mag girls. Smith like -

It can be called a force of theoretical good in the universe, this civilization was much more advanced than humanity, fruits of their progress even now, after millions of years are surpassing everything everything humanity achieved, you as bearer of one of examples of their craftsmanship can attest to that.
- So this weapon you are working with was created by them, is that it? Slaving after the relics of the past, chasing this long dead civilization? Is that all you care about?
- Mmm, not quite. This civilization was destroyed, not died by itself. Some other side, this probable side of Evil used the biological weapon of such magnitude that even the ancient civilization was destroyed. It was a terrible thing, capable of destruction unending, horror unopposed. It is that weapon our company is working with.
- ... So what, you will try to claim some nobility now!? After admitting to working with such horror! No matter, I will stop you and I will stop this weapon for good!
- But I've mentioned earlier, miss MG#1, my company had no choice in the matter, working with that weapon was inevitable, really. It was not some simple virus or bacteria after all. So, after destruction of ancient civilization this weapon remained. Multiplying, regaining its strength, evolving ever changing. But the core, the main purpose of this weapon remained the same - destruction.

- Look around you, miss MG! Look at the streets above, at the world at large! This weapon is all around you! This ancient horror, evolving, devolving, regressing, multiplying itself until this point, where it is ready to destroy the world it's living in. This is the true nature of Humanity! This is the origin, the answer to the eternal question why are we here and where from! To destroy, created not by merciful God, but by the devil himself to bring ruination to this world!

If they need a heat source to power something ominous, the boiler would be a good place for it. If we go reeincarnation route, since Lady Starspite isn't dead. Then go to possible Estil past reeincarnation, it's possible that Kyoko past self could be related to Lady Starspite.
