Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

@DragonParadox can we debt buy the Kingdom charm?

We are only 4 xp short and it does make thematic sense to get it now.
DP doesn't seem in favor of that:
OOC: Not as much XP to get the King and the Kingdom right away unfortunately, but this was literally an arc that took a few days and it does make sense to have a bit of time between getting to Essence 3 and taking what is arguably the most powerful charm that needs an minimum of Essence 3.

No it doesnt work like that.

That has prerequisites we cannot meet with this group.
They dont exactly have a front office we can call.
Don't you remember we have a few of their phone numbers from cyber devil. Also Lash is a member of the Denarians we can interact with her by meeting Harry.

[X] Plan crafting the kingdom to come
-[X] Molly
--[X] Craft 5, 7 XP
--[X] Ox-body, 3 XP
-[X] Lydia
--[X] Righteous Lion Defense, 3 XP

Getting into a fight counts as interaction.
Thats, at best, doubtful.
And under these particular circumstances, unlikely ; a group of less than 20 people has no real bureaucracy to fuck with, and we're not spending 3 Essence in the middle of a fight to fuck with it anyway.

Nor does it make them less deadly individually, it just makes the organization less effective.
The naagloshii would still be a murderblender freak of nature. And critically, something like the naagloshii is knowledgeable and powerful enough to attempt to set up a blessing to counteract that curse.

I definitly favor Kingdom as our Signature Charm.

Turning parts of the environment into your Hell has endless opportunities for flavor and stunts.
And mechanically it's not bad either.
Like I said earlier, so do I actually.

Don't you remember we have a few of their phone numbers from cyber devil. Also Lash is a member of the Denarians we can interact with her by meeting Harry.
We have Daedalus numbers.
The naagloshii does not have a phone number.

Lash is not a member of the Denarians, her progenitor is.
Lash is a copy of and works for Lasciel.
In the odd dream, I had a hot tub.
I lay back in it, luxuriating, the water churning to a controlled froth by jets that hit it and me from dozens of angles. The water was at that perfect temperature, a little short of scalding my skin, and the heat of it sank into muscle and bone, warming me deliciously and washing away aches and pains.
It was an odd dream, because I have never in my life been in a hot tub.
I opened my eyes and looked slowly around me. The hot tub was set in the floor of what looked like a natural cave. Low, reddish light came from what looked like some kind of moss growing on the stalactites overhead.
That was odd, because I'd never been in a cave like this, either.
"Hello?" I called. My voice bounced around the empty cavern.
I heard the sound of movement, and a woman stepped into sight from behind a rock formation. She was a little taller than average and had hair that fell in a sheet of golden silk to her shoulders. She was dressed in a silken tunic belted with soft rope, both pure white. The outfit neither displayed any impropriety nor allowed anyone looking to ignore the beauty of the body it clothed. Her eyes were of a deep, deep blue, like a sunny October sky, and her skin glowed with wholesome appeal. She was, quite simply, a stunning creature.
"Hello. I thought it was time we had a talk," she said. "You've had a hard day. I thought pleasant surroundings might suit you."
I eyed her for a moment. I was naked, which was good. The surface of the pool had enough in the way of bubbles and froth to be opaque, which was also good. It saved me the embarrassment of my response to her. "Who are you?"
She lifted golden brows in a faint smile, and seated herself beside the hot tub, on the floor of the cave, her legs together and to one side, her hands folded on her lap. "Have you not reasoned it yourself by now?"
I stared at her for a long minute and then said, quietly, "Lasciel."
The woman bowed her head, smiling in acknowledgment. "Indeed."
"You can't be here," I said. "I sealed you into the floor under my lab. I imprisoned you."
"Indeed you did," the woman said. "What you see here is not my true self, as such. Think of me as a reflection of the true Lasciel who resides within your mind."
"As a what?"
"When you chose to touch the coin, you accepted this form of my awareness within you," Lasciel said. "I am an imprint. A copy."
I swallowed. "You live in my head. And you can talk to me?"
"I can now," Lasciel said. "Now that you have chosen to employ what I have offered you."
I took in a deep breath. "Hellfire. I used Hellfire today to empower my magic."
"You made the conscious choice to do so," she said. "And as a result, I can now appear to your conscious mind." She smiled. "Actually, I've been looking forward to meeting you. You are a great deal more interesting than most I have been given to."

And its not like the Denarians even work together most of the time.

Thats, at best, doubtful.

Lara has a prisoner of theirs. We delivered him ourselves.

We can set the curse there in relative safety.

OK, you know what? To hell with compromises. I want what I want

[X] Plan crafting the kingdom to come
-[X] Molly
--[X] Craft 5, 7 XP
--[X] Ox-body, 3 XP
-[X] Lydia
--[X] Righteous Lion Defense, 3 XP

Ox body for protection, Craft because I want Craft very much, and ,again, Odin and Last Stwtion. 6 xp banked for Kingdom. Should be enough.
I dont know if I've pointed this out before.
Under both of your current plans, Lydia is useless against anyone with a veil, which is like a significant fraction of the supernatural world. And the naagloshii invariably fights under a veil. Some of his acolytes probably do as well.

We're probably going to meet Odin this turn to hash out details of what they want, and for that face to face, so we're going through the NeverNever, where a lot of Fae hang out as well.
And a lot of them run veils. Expect random encounters there as well.

and not enough vote for any plans with Awareness which would help with that.

We'll get ambushed that way.

Like I said earlier, so do I actually.

Strange, the plan you are voting for says otherwise.

Kinda difficult to get Kingdom as our signature if we don't get it, and the more we wait, the more likely it is that we ends up voting another charm as our signature at the end of an arc, making us wait till essence 5 to get it.

Your plan almost assure we won't get Kingdom during the next XP spending, or at all, because it doesn't keep any for in case we need it, at least mine makes absolutely sure we'll have this XP by next arc, what with needing only 4 XP gained for that.

Since the signature charm choice is such a huge deal thematically and mechanically but doesn't actually take additional xp to acquire beyond the charms themselves could we do it as a separate vote?

They aren't directly linked decisions, so linking the vote is messy. I'd rather not end up with a character defining trait chosen on the basis of the vote splintering over charm acquisition order or something.

I think it'd be cleaner and easier to debate if we could just do the charm buy as normal and then pick if we want to take one as a signature or wait based on what the resultant set is.

A group of 20 has no real bureaucracy to fuck with.
Nor do we know what their current project is.
Just that the skinwalker told them to show.

I would expect to fuck with the Red Court War quite easily, since its a project we know of, and we can easily find Red Court fronts we can call on the phone.
But I dont think its supposed to be a randomly spam charm.

Gard escort + Lydia Familiar.
Im not worried about a NeverNever ambush. And the naagloshii is Obvious to anyone with occult senses; you always know he's in the area, just not well enough to target him if you cant see through a veil.

We need to get there w/o losses too.

I do have a Plan: Awareness with only spends 5 XP on exactly that. We've always earned more than 9XP per Arc.

Gard escort + Lydia Familiar.
We regularly walk around without them.

Gard especially is not a party member and has to be paid or have her own reasons for joining any specific adventure.

We barely got ambushed during the quest, I am not really that afraid of that, plus, what are they going to do once they ambush us? Bleed on our sword?

Your plan and BronzeTongue's I can accept, it's Uju's I have a problem with, and he's the second place right now.

Ok, that's fair.

Then

[X] Plan crafting the kingdom to come v.2
-[X] Molly
--[X] Craft 5, 7 XP
-[X] Lydia
--[X] Righteous Lion Defense, 3 XP
--[X]Flawless Hunters Eye, 3xp

We can do without one more Ox body at the moment. We are frankly tanky enough as it is, for the moment.

All it has to be is interaction we catch someone spying and bam +2DC for everybody, including the boss.
Nor does it make them less deadly individually, it just makes the organization less effective.
The naagloshii would still be a murderblender freak of nature. And critically, something like the naagloshii is knowledgeable and powerful enough to attempt to set up a blessing to counteract that curse.
+2 DC to everything means they hide worse, hit less often, run slower, get hit more, and soak less damage. It a massive combat swing, and if the Naagloshii had the Fortune Path, or sphere Entropy magic high enough to counter the +2DC it would have that on all the time already. Infernal -3DC from CCC is considered OP for a reason.

It's better than buying nothing at all. *shrug*

Not enough vote difference for me to risk changing vote even if I agreed. *Shrug*

Plus, it's not like buying nothing right now makes that much difference past the next arc, the XP'll still be there to be used, I don't think an ambush that will pose problem will be thwarted by two more dices in awareness, and I don't see why we wouldn't be escorted by Gard to go see Odin.

so, this quest is quite awesome, been aching for some ExaltedvsWoD but this is so very good

so.... I caught up a couple of updates ago, but I will vote now for the first tome :)

[X]Plan Speed Kills

[X] No longer blind

I am partial to the awareness plan, but speed kills, from my very rudimentary understanding of exalted seems to be rather interesting

I tend to assume a lot of the religious things of the aztecs and mayans were likely the result of the red court and their blood drunk society. Since you know red court king is 5000 years old and the courts probably at least older than the white council. Its not like the gods are strictly mythologically completely accurate in dresden files even if faith clearly plays a factor. I like to imagine the red court coopted whatever faith there was a long time ago at least to a certain degree and took advantage of it what with the huge focus on blood in the society.

Godamnit Uju's spending plan is winning now.

Those of us who would like to have the Kingdom charm at the end of next arc (funnily enough, Uju claims to be one such voter) should unite and vote for our best chance to actually get it instead of blowing our budget as if it was burning our pocket.

Seriously, there are other plans that actually keep enough in reserve to have XP without too much problems, why is the one that uses more than we have (Lydia doesn't have 4 XP but 3, so the purchase on her is not valid) the one winning?
