When the context of the request itself shows that it's very out of character and likely quite serious.
That's Metagame pilot for you. Pragmatic, cold and calculating.

And I have no rational or logical explanation for why I want to vote for Alpharius. Like you just gave one idea for why it might be a good option, but that's not why I'll vote for him in the end. I'm doing it based on an emotional reaction to recent events. Nothing more and nothing less.

Sadly Malcador has not responded to Kesar's letters recently so not unless you write in that you're going to show up on Terra and march into his office.
maybe we should? just walk in and ask to see his numbers, did he make best choices with incomplete info, or did he make wrong choices with complete info, there is a big difference there.

So, Null Rods seem like it'd be extremely helpful for the Maelstrom fighting, even with the reduced area they'll be able to effect. If we can get each of our non-psyker heroes one, it'd probably help.

I say that we should meet with Alpharius more than anyone else.

Before this update, I was leaning towards Leman Russ. The Wolf King of Fenris. The Emperor's Executioner. After all, he is a great friend to Kesar Dorlin, who came to slay the Lord of Stagnation and its rot from infesting Fenris or the Vlka Fenryka. This is a very confusing, tumultuous time and it is trying for everyone involved.

Beyond politics, and by god the politics are huge and the repercussions will ripple across the galaxy, this is family. Sure, sometimes family is a big issue with Leman (cough Magnus the Red and suggesting to read his codex on daemons cough, extra cough on all the numerous other shit between them) but it is very important. Between his loyalty to the Emperor and his brotherhood with Kesar Dorlin, Leman would like to speak and hear from Kesar his reasons and what else he's getting up to.

After all, as he mentions, he still owes a great favour to Kesar. Which, and annoyingly it's hard to find, he would be willing to send 80% of his Legion if it was used. (Or loan Zunia for a bit, an even grander prize #lovetriangle). Leman Russ is also one of the more loyal members of the 'loyalists' who are siding with the Emperor at the moment, yet could still perhaps be convinced or at least understand the opposing side. Perhaps that favour can be put to good use in a different way, than asking for bloodshed?

It'd also be nice to see Zunia and him getting engaged. After all, Kesar was a big reason that Zunia is with the Great Wolf at all. There's even more reasons for picking Leman Russ, so it's a good option.

There's also the Emperor of Mankind. That doesn't really need explaining, in the current situation it makes a great deal of sense. We will heavily be with him for two of the other Gifts we'll get eventually, the ones from the Maelstrom. Psychic powers being unlocked and the Astartes project. The whole plan we're enacting due to the Angron situation. The meeting with Malcador the Sigillite that will happen very soon, to look into the perspective of one of the two figures at the absolute top of the Imperium.

The future of the galaxy, the sheer audacious manoeuvre that the Daemonsbane has committed in taking over for the Maelstrom. How many plans, lives, material and worlds have been shifted by what the one known as Kesar has done? How does the Master of Mankind feel about it? It's fascinating, useful and also a good idea to pick the Emperor of Mankind instead.

Then there is Alpharius, one of the Twin Heads of the Hydra, the Lord of Serpents, the Thrice-Ascended God. Him and Omegon who have bled with the Daemonsbane, the Second Anathema, the Stormsplitter of the Maelstrom. The Alpha Legion helped us on Cadia. They fought with us on Aleph. They saved us all for the Maelstrom.

I suggest him for a few reasons, beyond what I just said:

1) Alpharius has done something the he almost never does, and that is directly just say that they want to meet and where and when.
[] Alpharius - The Hydra's letter was rather straightforward, directly telling Kesar to meet him at a designated location. That was beyond concerning considering Alpharius' personality. If he was being direct … Kesar didn't want to think about what that meant.
This is to show that this is beyond serious business. Alpharius is sending out a signal that he really needs to talk with Kesar, no bullshit or secrecy or anything else.

The last time anything resembling this level of seriousness has come from Alpharius was when they were hunting the Changeling to Aleph, and even considering the ramifications of that situation or how it escalated I think that this is even more serious than that. For good reason, considering just what the Twins have had to deal with and the general situation that Kesar is way too involved in.

2) The Twins are Kesar's most cherished of brothers, even including Perturabo. Their bonds are so absurdly strong, (to blend the gameplay and narrative) it even manifests as not just one but as several traits on Kesar's part.
+30 to detecting Alpha Legionaries (Bonds of Brotherhood)
Always can tell apart Alpharius and Omegon (Bonds of Brotherhood)
Rolls above 10 against Alpharius and Omegon always count as a 95 as long as they remain friends.
Despite their nature with secrecy, to the point that it's literally divine nature now, they trust Kesar Dorlin in ways that the cannot trust anyone else. Alpharius and Omegon are close in ways that few other Primarchs are. Ferrus Manus and Fulgrim. Horus Lupercal and Sanguinius. Vulkan and Konrad Curze. Kesar Dorlin and the Twins.

While Omegon was recently met, albeit quite uncomfortable due to the topic and situation, Alpharius hasn't been seen for so long by Kesar in-universe and out. Time to rectify that.

3) The Twins have sacrificed so much for Kesar Dorlin, especially for the recent compliance with the Maelstrom. Pretty much 80% of the entire Alpha Legion marched to their deaths to scout out the Garden of Nurgle and faced daemons, plagues, corruption and the sheer lethality of a Chaos God's domain.

Although, a lot of that wasn't for Kesar Dorlin specifically. It was the general plan, it was the Emperor of Mankind and the Twin's own goals. For Kesar, Omegon nearly sacrificed his life as he tanked a disease from Ku'Gath that was meant to grant a -20 to the entire Imperial force that was fighting in the Maelstrom. If not for the intervention of Azhek Ahriman and the Harlequins, Omegon would be dead.

The Eldar then shared a plan with the Twins, one that could very well bring the death of a Chaos God. A choice that they could have gone with, but didn't. Why? Because that plan had a great chance of seeing Kesar Dorlin dead. Instead, they did their best to ensure Kesar had as much success as possible and bring victory. The Twins who, in canon, decided to help out the Chaos side if it meant killing Chaos in the long run gave up a really good plan to kill a Chaos God to save Kesar.

Kesar doesn't know about either of these two things yet, secrecy and all, but we definitely do. He does know they did a lot for the Maelstrom compliance, so it'd be nice to properly thank the Alpha Legion in person. Recognition for achievement is what the Alpha Legion love, and Kesar is good at honest praise (cough Perturabo as well can vouch on this cough).

4) Speaking of Eldar involvement, which Kesar is now also heavily involved in due to even considering an alliance and knowing that Magnus the Red, Roboute Guilliman (including 'sleeping' with one in bed!!!!!) and Corvus Corax are already a part of, there's also that whole aspect.

In this time of secrecy, conflict, war in the shadows and political intrigue... the Eldar are a major player and the more Kesar knows, the better. As we know, Alpharius already knows a lot and seems like he's going to learn a ton more:
"Because...you would be able to influence events easier. It's malleable in the right circumstances. Especially if you have someone like your Great Seer on hand." Alpharius laughed, "Then you can see how the script changes."

"Do make sure to tell Cegorach of this," the Harlequin's eyes glinted, "I suspect he'd be rather pleased."

"Not to worry Asurvan," Alpharius stood up and opened the door to the cell, gesturing for Asurvan to leave, "lead me to him."

"Wait, what?"
also, could you imagine how alpharius would react to kesar mentioning the Harlequin alliance deal he was offered, considering the alpha legion's eldar interactions for the third point and what i said in this part and oh yeah the fact that malcador has purged a lot of eldar agents around imperial space??? top-tier comedy that is. worst part is that kesar would totally ask 'hey i asked my sons about this deal, what do you think? should i take it?' and just... yet another total bombshell onto the snakes on top of everything else.

Hell, maybe it'll save us a trip to Cegorach. Probably not, due to the uncertainty regarding them even including saving Omegon's life. Speaking of which...

5) This is perhaps the biggest point, Alpharius and Omegon are becoming divided.

Since the end of the Maelstrom war with how the Eldar saved Omegon's life, and especially in response to the political situation going on with the Imperium, the Twins are becoming more and more divided and it will really hurt them if it continues any further at all.
"Perhaps then you should take the hint if you are hearing it so much!" Kesar blinked, legitimately shocked by the anger and fear in Omegon's voice. Gesturing to Perturabo and Khan, Kesar followed Omegon's fitful steps before the hidden Primarch gave a regretful groan, "I am sorry Kesar, that was...you have no idea what you are about to risk, or what this will cause..."

"Omegon," Kesar hesitantly reached out, "you're worried for me."

"It's more than that," Omegon ripped off his helm, forcing Kesar to look into his conflicted eyes, "I fear for the Imperium, I fear for my relationship with Malcador, my relationship with the other head of the Hydra, and I fear for you." An explosive sigh escaped him, "I beg you Kesar, do not do this, don't make me choose between family."
The Twins who have been through so much, so united in mindset as they go through metaphorical and extremely literal hell, are having cracks. With Kesar Dorlin being a big reason behind this too directly and in-directly, as the above quote says.

Importantly, Kesar is very well aware of this problem. Kesar is probably the only one who could talk things out, speak plainly about everything, and let it all out in a good way. Beyond the wider situation, he's really a family guy. If anyone could help mend things, it'd be him.

6) Combining all of the above, Alpharius has no-one else to go to.

He doesn't have any other brothers to go to at this time, not even go to Omegon like he used to. The Emperor and Malcador can't help for this. None of their Alpha Legion sons.

He just has Kesar Dorlin, his best friend.

One of Kesar's dearest brothers has asked, extremely seriously, if they could meet. I don't see him saying no, not for anything.

Kesar and the Twins, Eternal Wardens and Alpha Legionnaires. Riding through hell, thick or thin. The Bonds of Brotherhood are strong.

time to snake this up, heck yeaaaaaahhhhh.

I really thought about this vote and I really believe we need to do these three social it hurts me to sacrifice all of the research time but this is well a truly important we got to talk to our family to avoid a civil war now or at least do our best to minimize it as possible. But most importantly at least to me Family is first before all else
[X] Plan talking to our brothers and Father

[X] Leman - The Primarch of the Space Wolves has sent a letter wishing to meet with Kesar. Citing recent tensions within the Imperium, and Kesar's own actions, the Emperor's Executioner wishes for an explanation for what has occurred. Notably, Leman has said he does still owe Kesar a favor.
[X] The Emperor - While Kesar hasn't received a missive from the Emperor directly, he has received a circuitous message through multiple unofficial sources. It seems the Master of Man wishes to have a talk with him both privately and secretly.
[X] Alpharius - The Hydra's letter was rather straightforward, directly telling Kesar to meet him at a designated location. That was beyond concerning considering Alpharius' personality. If he was being direct … Kesar didn't want to think about what that meant.

I think we should, at the very least keep 5 years of research, we have a few research options that can autocomplete and could greatly help us within the Maelstrom.

[X] Plan Bros And Big Brain

Close enough.

Fuck research, give us juicy drama and interactions! Also, to prevent a civil war.

I know research is important, but these socials sound critical right now. The research options won't change if we don't take them now, but if we miss these socials right now, the next time we have the chance to talk to them, things will be far too different.

I'm against dropping research and pro doing 2 social at maximum de already did the drop research thing and we regret it. so let's just not repaet that mistake.

And no the actions are not critical the imperium is not going to rise or fall for our actions alone, and we do need the research since a lot of those things are going to be helpful on the maelstrom were we are going to be all but alone.

so again let's not.

As much as sacrificing research makes me sad, we do kind of need to keep everything from imploding.

Though if we can stabilize shit I'm gonna want to spend a few turns not coming out of our lab later.
