The Blue Hole

August UE 0083
Photon Power Labs

"So, what's the story with Mazinkaiser? And what happened to Mazinger Z?" You ask Kouji as the two of you sit down in a lounge at Photon Power Labs.

"Like I said, it happened while you were down in Africa. A few days after we got back from China, Baron Ashura and Count Brocken attacked Photon Power Labs with a massive army of Mechabeasts. They tore the Pilder out of Mazinger Z and threw me into the wilderness." Kouji recalls.

"Ouch. What happened after that?" You wince.

"Some kind of automated system activated and took me to a hidden lab where Mazinkaiser was being stored. I don't remember anything about what happened at that point, but I somehow got into the Kaiser Pilder, fired up Kaiser, and walked it back to Photon Power Labs. Damn near gave everyone a heart attack when I got there, Kaiser was in some kind of berserk state; it attacked anything that got near it. Almost torched the main building, in fact." Kouji gestures to the walls around you. "Sayaka ended up having to snap me out of it."

"And what happened to Mazinger Z?" You ask.

"Baron Ashura stole it after they left me for dead and did their own hack job on it. Now it's 'Ashura Mazinger'." Kouji says derisively.

"Sorry about that. It must be hard having to destroy the machine you're most familiar with." You console Kouji.

"Eh, it had a good run. Besides, it stopped being mine when Baron Ashura took it." Kouji replies.

"Well, regardless, I'm glad you're okay Kouji. Sayaka must have been worried."

Kouji gives a low whistle.

"Oh you have no idea. When I regained consciousness after my initial rampage in Kaiser, I wasn't sure if Sayaka was going to kiss me or stomp me on the face for what happened." Kouji recalls with a shiver.

You chuckle.

Kouji raises his soda in a mock toast, and you do the same.

Misato Katsuragi's Apartment, Tokyo

Captain Katsuragi's apartment is far messier than you thought it would be. You try not to stare at the piles of beer cans her pet...penguin is shuffling into recycling bags.

"So, how are you doing Shinji?" You ask.

"Honestly? I feel pretty good right now." Shinji shrugs. "After I killed the 5th Angel, Misato threw a small party to celebrate. When I got back to school, my friends Toji and Kensuke revealed that they cheered us on with a few of my classmates before they evacuated the city. I don't know why, but I feel pretty good when I think about that."

You smile.

"Just don't let it get to your head, okay?" You say gently.

"Why would I let it get to my head?" Shinji asks in what you're shocked to realize is genuine puzzlement.

"Anyway, how's Rei doing?" You ask.

"I am well." Rei Ayanami says. You and Shinji turn to see her entering the room.

"I meant mentally." You say.

"I am dissatisfied." Rei admits after a few seconds.

"Why?" You ask with a raised eyebrow.

"I was not given an opportunity to prove my loyalty to NERV, or to contribute to Shinji's defense during Operation Yashima." Rei explains.

You think back to the Gryps Conflict and the Neo-Zeon Wars before sighing.

"Rei, there's an expression that goes something like this: 'Better to have something and not need it, than to need it and not have it'. You're eager to help, I get it, but please don't do anything self-destructive." You try to console Rei. You don't think it worked, as Rei huffs before turning back and leaving the room.

"Yeah, she does that sometimes." Shinji says in a resigned tone. "Why are you doing this anyway?"

"You may be Super Robot pilots, but you're still kids. No one should have to go through what you're going through at your age. I just want to make sure you come out of this better than Amuro Ray did after the One Year War." You explain.

"Thanks, I guess." Shinji says after a few seconds.

You chat with Shinji a bit more before wishing him a good day and leaving.

Royal Palace, Azadistan

A combination of your journey from Orb back into friendly territory and having to deal with the 5th Angel had prevented you from being informed that Stella Loussier has appeared and is in the care of Celestial Being. Now, you're going to meet Stella in Azadistan. Hopefully she'll be able to give you some answers.

"This way Ms. Ayana." Shirin Bakhtiar, Marina Ismail's right hand woman guides you through the halls of the Azadistan Royal Palace.

Shirin eventually leads you to a private room. She opens the door to reveal Setsuna F. Seiei and Stella Loussier, who, aside from the local garb given to her, looks exactly like she does in the photo Shinn Asuka gave you so many months ago.

"I'll leave you to it then. Don't worry about eavesdropping, we've filled the room with anti-surveillance countermeasures and white-noise generators." Shirin says.

You nod in appreciation before entering. Shirin closes the door behind you.

Stella immediately springs up from her seat and runs over to hug you. You glance at Setsuna in confusion, who can only shrug helplessly.

"I'm so glad I finally get to meet you in person." Stella says. She steps back and gives you a once-over. "Wow, you really grew up nicely, huh?"

"What are you talking about?" You ask in confusion.

"Oh, right, silly me. Let me start from the beginning. I'm from your native dimension." Stella says as if that explains anything. Which it doesn't.

Setsuna pinches the bridge of his nose.

"Londo Bell gave us a full report of what she told them. I'll help explain." He says.

Stella proceeds to plow ahead in her explanation, with Setsuna stepping in whenever she goes off topic or gets distracted. From what she tells you, she comes from a dimension that was conquered by an interdimensional empire known only as the Council of the Veil. You are also from that dimension, having been sent over when you were only an embryo, with your mother's counterpart in this dimension serving as a surrogate due to the fact that the you of this dimension had already died in the womb. Your real parents had managed to reverse engineer the Council's interdimensional travel technology, and sent you over to save you from being killed in the womb along with your mother for the crime of uncovering the Council's secrets. Now the Council has figured out which dimension you were sent to, and is coming in to clean up loose ends before adding another dimension to their empire.

You collapse backwards into your chair.

"If I was sent here before I was technically born, how do the people who came over to assist me know me?" You ask.

Stella fidgets with an uncomfortable look on her face.

"As I understand it, the people who assisted you weren't technically...alive." Judging from Setsuna's raised eyebrow, this isn't part of what she told Londo Bell.

"Quit talking in riddles and start making sense!" You snap at Stella.

"Sorry, it's just really complicated. During the war, your parents and their colleagues decided to make something to help protect the dimension they sent you to. They ended up combining VEDA, NERV's MAGI, and the ZERO System along with some of their own computer systems and shunted it into a pocket dimension so that the Council wouldn't find it. I was never told what it's called, but the system's been monitoring this dimension since you were born, and can create copies of anyone who was killed by the Council, along with their machines, and give them knowledge that they need. The copies are basically indistinguishable from the original, but they can't really...exist very long." Stella explains as best she can given the complex science involved.

Your entire world crashes around you.

"So my whole life has been...a lie? No, not a lie...not a mistake either. I've been marked since before I was born, if what you're saying is true. So many things make sense now! My cowardice during the Axis drop, my break-up, my general feelings of...aimlessness after the Second Neo-Zeon War." You bury your face in you hands.

You absentmindedly note that tears are streaming down your face now.

"Ha...hahahaha!" You laugh mirthlessly.

You are Setsuna F. Seiei, and you are not pleased with how this is going.

"You idiot! You broke her!" You snap at Stella.

"I didn't mean to! I just wanted to tell her the truth!" Stella responds helplessly as Mira sobs and laughs in the throes of an existential crisis.

You sigh before getting up and leaving the room. You make for Marina Ismail's office. Thankfully, she and Shirin are the only ones there.

"Is something the matter Setsuna?" Marina asks.

"Mira's taking what Stella revealed to her...poorly. She's not in a state to be seen in public. You'll probably have to keep her here for a few days while she calms down." You explain.

"Oh dear. I can certainly do that. Is there anything else?" Marina asks.

"Nothing that you can do. Just make sure she's not seen in public. I have a few calls to make, so if you'll excuse me..." You say.

Marina gives your hands a quick clasp before letting you go. You exit her office and go to an empty room before pulling out a communicator.

"Sumeragi, it's me. Get me in contact with Mira Ayana's wards, quickly."

Three days later

"How's she doing?" Yukari asks Shirin.

"Not well. She eats and bathes on her own, but other than that, she's withdrawn into the room we gave her." Shirin explains.

"Oh Mira..." Lucia puts her hand on her chest.

Yukari, Lucia, and Nina had been informed of what Stella had told Mira on their way to Azadistan. Nina glares at Stella, who wilts a bit under the harsh gaze.

Nina sighs.

"What's done is done. Now what do we do?" Nina wonders out loud.

"We can't leave her like this! She's done so much for us. Getting her out of this funk is the least we can do to start paying her back!" Yukari says.

"Okay, but how?" Nina asks with her arms crossed.

Who goes in to talk with Mira?

[ ] Yukari

[ ] Lucia

[ ] Nina

[ ] All three

Results

Shinji seems to be in a good place. Rei seems to be eager to prove...something. You're not sure about what.

Mira's stress has capped! She will not be available for the next combat.

A/N: Getting all the personal actions out of the way first, along with the rest of the lore bomb.

[X] All three

Good to see that even in another universe, ZERO is still having her best intentions taken in the worst way by at least one person.

Thinking of calling the vote early, will wait until later tonight to make a decision. Also, no one is discussing the whammy about who/what the extradimensional assistance is? I'm disappointed, I encourage discussion! Also, have I given my characters (Mira and the girls) enough characterization that they can be considered to have distinct personalities? That's something I've been worried about the past few updates.

August UE 0083
Royal Palace of Azadistan, Guest Room

Yukari, Lucia, and Nina enter the room while Stella waits in the doorway. The girls see Mira lying down on her bed, wearing nothing but a translucent black negligee and a matching pair of panties. Judging from how red her face is, it's clear that she's been crying.

"Mira...are you okay?" Yukari asks nervously after a few seconds.

"Oh." Mira sniffs and sits up. "I...I guess not."

The girls go over to the bed, Lucia going over to Mira's right, Nina going over to Mira's left, and Yukari sitting down in front of her.

"Sumeragi told us what happened." Lucia says cautiously.

"Then you know I'm an anomaly. A parasite sent over as a last-ditch effort to preserve something of another dimension." Mira bites back in a bitter tone.

"That's not true! The you of this dimension was already dead. If anything, you gave your surrogate parents happiness where there would have been tragedy." Yukari rebuts.

Mira laughs bitterly.

"Yeah, until Operation British happened." Mira says.

The girls fall silent for a few seconds after that simple declaration.

"It's just...I don't know what to believe anymore. Is what I do my own decision, or is it some pre-programmed behavior imprinted into me before I was born? If it is, is it for the sake of revenge on the Council, or just to keep me alive and preserve my parents' legacy?" Mira ponders.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3395PPzVW3Y

"Don't you dare continue that line of thought." Nina snaps. "Your decisions and actions are your own, no matter what you might think. You wouldn't have taken us in if you weren't in control of yourself."

Mira sighs before wiping away a few tears.

"I'm sorry. My mind has been going into some dark places over the last few days. I even thought the three of you were spies sent from the Council. I'm sorry for even considering that." Mira sniffles.

Lucia and Nina's expressions morph into ones of horror before they both hug Mira from the side. Nina kisses Mira on the cheek, while Lucia leans her head against Mira's.

"Please, let us help you. You don't have go through this alone." Lucia says quietly. She takes Mira's right hand with her cybernetic hand and gives it a gentle squeeze.

"We love you, Mira. You're like a surrogate mother or older sister to us. You've done so much for us. Let us help you in return." Yukari says gently as she moves up and hugs Mira.

Nina takes Mira's left hand into her own and kisses her on the cheek again.

"I'm sorry you have to see me like this. I just...need time to process all of this. Even after three days, the revelations that Stella told me still don't seem real." Mira admits.

"We'll always be here for you, no matter what." Lucia says.

"Thank you..." Mira leans back a bit. "Yukari...can you stay with me for a bit?"

Yukari smiles.

"Of course."

Lucia and Nina get off the bed while Yukari moves over to Mira's left side. Nina and Yukari share a quick kiss before Nina and Lucia make to leave the room.

"Can I ask why you wanted me to stay?" Yukari asks gently.

"I love the three of you so much, and having you hold me feels nice, but it's kind of crowded on a bed this small." Mira explains.

Yukari chuckles before parting Mira's bangs and kissing her on the forehead.

"We'll always be there for you Mira." Yukari says.

"I know. Thank you." Mira says shakily.

Yukari wraps an arm around Mira's shoulders while Mira leans her head against Yukari's. After a few seconds, Yukari realizes that Mira has fallen asleep. Yukari kisses Mira on the side of the head.

"We love you Mira. Please, never forget that." Yukari whispers into Mira's ear as she strokes her hair. To her delight, Mira's lips quirk upward in a small smile.

The two of them stay like that for a while.

A/N: Two and a half days of working on this, and it's not nearly as long as I wanted it to be. Well, you know what they say, sometimes less is more. Also, the reason Yukari is called out at the end is because her bond with Mira is the highest. Please discuss and critique.

August UE 0083
NERV-03, Germany

You are Hilde Schbeiker, and you're starting to regret taking this assignment.

"Incoming! Watch the left side!" A Jegan pilot yells over the squad comm.

You sigh and level your Taurus' beam rifle at a charging Geara Doga, spearing it in the center of mass with a single shot. The enemy machine slumps over and explodes, but not before slamming its beam hawk into an office building in its death throes. A trio of Leos march forward, shredding a pair of Zssas with their machine guns. A pair of Aries strafe a Doven Wolf and a Gaza (you can't tell if it's a C or D from this distance) with missiles and bullets, causing both to go up in flames.

"Well, looks like NERV was right to be worried about Neo-Zeon remnants trying to steal EVA-02. Please tell me they haven't been able to get inside." You say over the squad freq.

"NERV-03 reports that the facilities are still secure." An OZ comm officer reports.

"Small victories I guess." You say to yourself.

A youthful, feminine voice starts yelling over an open frequency in angry German.

"I thought we got her off the comms!" A GM III pilot says in dismay.

"She's a self-declared genius, of course she'd find a way back in. We sure she's not a Coordinator?" A Nemo pilot asks.

"Keep your Blue Cosmos sympathies in the closet man, we've got more incoming!" A ReZEL pilot indicates a wave of Geara Dogas, Doms, and Gelgoogs charging at the facility.

"Please tell me this is the last wave." You say.

"Actually, I think it is." A Tragos pilot responds.

"Let's get this over with." You say wearily as you form up with the other Taurus Mobile Suits in your unit.

Results

Neo-Zeon attack on NERV-03 repelled! EVA-02 will be finished and shipped to Tokyo on schedule.
Hilde Schbeiker has received a commendation for her performance and conduct, and been recommended to the 'main' unit of the Solar Vanguard.

Josh-A Base, Alaska

You are Murata Azrael, and you are not happy at the moment.

"WHAT did the ECOAS team get away with?!" You screech at the aide who delivered the news.

"A-a vial of gamma glepheptin, sir." The aide responds fearfully, as he should.

You slam your desk in frustration before taking a breath to calm yourself.

"Did the ECOAS team take anything else?" You ask in a more sedate tone.

The aide takes out a tablet and scrolls through it hastily.

"A single medical chart."

You feel your blood pressure spike.

"A medical chart for WHO?" You ask urgently.

The aide fumbles with his tablet.

"Subject...31?" The aide squints as he tries to make sure he's reading things correctly.

You think for a moment before sitting back down and sagging a bit in relief.

"Ah, one of the failures. And when was the chart dated?" You ask.

"October 16, UE 0082." The aide reports.

You audibly sigh in relief.

"A preliminary chart then. We have less to fear than I thought." You get up and clap the aide on his shoulder. "Take the rest of the day off, my good man. I'll handle things from here."

"S-sir?" The aide says in confusion.

"While it is true that the sample of gamma glepheptin will raise eyebrows, the medical chart will tell them nothing. Without any context as to what the gamma glepheptin is for, ECOAS and the Solar Vanguard will not have any actionable evidence to use against us. We will have to move up a few of our time tables though." You explain.

"Ah, I understand sir. For the preservation of our pure and blue world!" The aide salutes you.

"For the preservation of our pure and blue world." You return the aide's salute with a smile.

You walk back over to your desk and pick up the phone, dialing a number.

Buckingham Palace, London

You are Haman Karn, and you are once again going into Buckingham Palace to meet with Britannian Royalty. The difference this time, however, is that you don't have to put as much effort into getting in, considering that Cornelia and Marrybell are actively working with you this time.

However, considering the fact that the Earth Sphere at large still thinks you're dead, you decided to put on a disguise. Marrybell has lent you one of her dresses, a conservative magenta number with gold trimming and matching shoes. You've done your hair up in a bun to further obfuscate your identity.

The three of you are going in to meet Prince Clovis. Cornelia believes he might have a lead on the death of Marianne Vi Britannia. You're not so sure, but you have nothing else to go on, so you might as well try this.

An attendant leads the three of you to Prince Clovis' room. Marrybell gives a friendly wave to Laila la Britannia, Clovis' younger sister, as the three of you pass by her in the hallway.

The three of you had discussed how you would convince Clovis to cooperate before coming over. The biggest point of contention was whether or not to reveal that Zero is Lelouch, a long-lost relative that he apparently had some admiration for in the past.

What did Cornelia and Marrybell decide on?

[ ] Reveal the whole truth
-Tell Clovis the entire truth-that Zero is Lelouch, his beloved half brother, and that he is searching for Marianne vi Britannia's killer.
-Will likely guarantee Clovis' cooperation initially, but may lead to information leaks and betrayal if precautions are not taken

[ ] Keep him in the dark
-Keep Zero's true identity a secret for now. You have no idea how Clovis will react to such a revelation.
-No security risks on this front, but will make securing Clovis' cooperation harder

[ ] Hint at it
-Make an oblique reference to Zero and how he is similar to Lelouch. Clovis is unlikely to get the hint immediately, but he might become curious enough to cooperate...
-Will make Clovis more receptive to cooperation, but no guarantees

A/N: Shorter segments this time, but mostly because the first two are a bit less 'involved', so to speak. Also, aside from voting and discussion, can you please comment or give constructive criticism? I want to know if I'm doing things right and doing the characters justice.

Now this is a difficult decision. I personally am very much for the active revealing of as much as quickly as possible in order to best secure assistance...

And because I believe that transparency is the best policy.

HOWEVER

That inherently runs counter to the whole point of a secret conspiracy held tightly under lock and key. After all, three can keep a secret if two of them are dead and all.

Trusting Clovis very well could bite us... Do we happen to have confirmation on C.C.'s backstory in this? I feel like I may have forgotten something very important in the grand scheme of things.

We play this right, and Clovis could very well become our inside man on the Geass Cult.

[X] Reveal the whole truth

I would prefer keeping that close to our chest and leaning on Cornelia's wisheds...... Although I suppose I culd take a hint.....
Is Clovis's cooperation even worth it..... As far as I remember Clovis is a PR guy

Please vote and discuss people, there are only two votes. I'm not calling it until there's been more debate about this decision, considering how important it is.

[X] Hint at it

TBH safest option at the moment, specially considering how backstabby some of the brittanians can be.

[X] Hint at it

I don't trust Clovis, plain and simple. Hint at it is my go-to, here, especially in the heart of Britannian territory.
