Green Flame Rising (Exalted vs Dresden Files)

There are notes about how the vampires use their powers to recruit for the network and maintain loyalty but the thing that is most damaging is the mundane corruption, specifically how coordinated and wide... which will make a whole lot of authorities want to dig into the leadership, who are all vampires thus a risk to the masquerade.
so not clear cut, but is also strongly arguable that the white court being sloppy is the risk to the masquerade here and Greene is just a symptom.

Because Unintended Consequences are a thing.
Do you want to kick off a second supernatural war? There's already one ongoing, and it was considered a victory that the White Court, while officially allied to the Reds, has stayed out of it.
Why the hell would a White Court struggling against the Us-goverment be more likely to intervene in a conflict between two unrelated powers?

They would have no additional incentive, but they would have a lot of reason to fear the White Council deciding to aid the investigations even in minor ways.
Neutral Wizards are much better for them in any scenario.

Why would we ever delete that data? Letting her drop the bomb or dropping the bomb ourselves seems so much more satisfying.
From my perspective it seems like a good idea as a means to resolve our current conflict. Which is a good thing because we're at 6 essence and this guy is shaping up to be stupidly strong. If he wasn't misreading us as a peer or better Jade this could get nasty for us.

It could also get pretty bad for Greene, because even if they back off now they still really need to stop her. They won't just shrug and give up, they'll try again, either more subtly or with enough force to handle the threat they think we are.

That said, the critical point is that with the crown a significant portion of the data isn't lost. The actual proof is, but now that we know what's going on finding more shouldn't be difficult. The hard part of the investigation is already essentially done.

Doing it that way would also have the advantage of turning a knife fight into a surprise shiv to the kidneys. If they think the problem is solved then they won't be as prepared to defend themselves.

Dude has The Illness Unveilled, Stamina + Medicine 7, and a minimum of Fortitude 7 and Auspex 2
That translates to a minimum of 9 Soak, and possibly in excess of 12 Soak. For comparison, Molly's current non-shintai combat soak after she stacks Ebon Scales + VLE + Steel Skin is estimated to average 10 Soak.
Only the Fortitude would apply against aggravated damage.

It is incredibly rare for anyone in the WoD to apply their full soak against our sword, even elder Vampires can't do it.

This is really huge, but I see absolutly no reason to leave the vampire alive in it.

Even if he believes us that we deleted the data, he'd still have an interest in killing Greene and also in investigating us.

Much better if Madrigal never learns what happened here besides his agent being gone.
1)His niece is essentially a hostage to his behavior.

2)He fingered Madrigal Raith. Without prompting.
Safe to say he's not a fan.

3)Why exactly should we care what Madrigal Raith knows, even if UncleSkavis tells him?

4)Lots of people have an interest in investigating us. So?
Marcone has been digging since the Museum, and the Reds since Cleveland.
Lara Raith has known about us since we went to the Black Rider auction. He can join the club.

This is an elder Whampire with equivalents to Fortitude 7+, Auspex 2+, Celerity ???
Even assuming that we agreed with you, the idea that we could kill this guy without collateral damage in a residential neigborhood is frankly questionable.

There's a good chance we'd have to pop shintai. And its daytime, with our car out front.

Say, shouldn't one of those let us recover essence?
Secret of magic:
Binding a creature of darkness into our service
"So like..." Sitha sinks in a practiced courtesy. Looks as weird in pants as you'd expect it to, but it does the job, intent is all that matters
Information about secrets of the supernatural world:
I think at least one of those should have been enough to give us essence recovery.

Before if you want it to be guaranteed, after would be a Computers Roll.
Ok then

The element of surprise. If we are doing this, it's far better that the opposition thinks everything worked perfectly.

[X] Offer to wipe the files, you already have a good portion of the material just by knowing what's in them
-[X] HMP Sarah's computer before starting to wipe the files; spend no more than 1 essence on this, in order to avoid anima flair
-[X] Stake claim to Sarah's health for at least some time, citing your own interests
-[X] Swear the vampire into secrecy regarding your involvement (Intimidation and empathy excellencies should still be running)
-[X] STUNT: "Today's your lucky day, old one! I shall solve most of your troubles, and in a way that none shall die, as long as my visit here is kept confidential. I came here investigating these woman's husband's murder, for I have cause to think it was orchestrated by mine enemies. It will be easy to divert her from seeking revenge on you and yours" you say cheerfully, a feeling that is as false as your interlocutor's humanity. A plan is hatching in your mind, like an egg of a dragon giving life to an entity full with guile: "Come, I shall wipe the files from her computer, so even if she wants to do something, she'll have nothing to do it with". You say, moving towards the other room, purposefully entering it first. As soon as Sarah's computer is in sight, a quick glance impregnates it with another of your demons.

Something like that. I would like help / modifications to the stunt. The main idea is to demonstratively wipe the files, while keeping Sarah from being killed. We use HMP to summon a devil - even if it's detected, we can say that this is how we are getting access to the device. Cyberdevils should be unknown to an old White Court vampire who isn't good with computers. The devil will ensure that the files are recoverable. We "lay claim" to Sarah explaining our presence in the same sentence.

I would like to also set a future meeting with the fledgeling, but that can wait for the next update. We can start deprogramming her later.

The reason to do this is to lull the White Court into a false sense of security. We do not want to introduce ourselves, and as long as the situation is resolved, I doubt the old vampire would connect the dots (in time at least).

Unless the Elder has an incredibly unusual skillset for a vampire his attacks will be personal-scale and without more collateral damage than some broken houshold items in our current location.
His only sane option for beating us is heavy use of Celerity and Potency to kill us with regular weapons.

And that is only if he does not waste time and blood on trying mental Disciplines that auto-fail against us.

I mean, there's an outside chance that he has some colateral-damage power like the highest levels of Lure of Flames, or top-tier Protean or Serpentis to shift into huge warforms.
But that really doesn't seem to be the norm for White Vamps.
And more importantly it wouldn't help him, being on fire or fighting a giant serpent wouldn't hinder us.
It's much more likely that the fight would be pretty normal close-quarter combat only with tougher and faster people.

So we randomly met fortitude 7 vamp
NGL, that's pretty scary. And if he had a bunch of potence dots + Celerity... That would be a big pain in the ass to actually fight.

Not going to feel terribly bad if we get more combat stuff, now. I think we need E3 first to be able to activate all of our current combat charms in one turn, then... We'll see.

[x] Offer to wipe off the evidence of Raith crimes off all of Agent Green's devices

This is a gold mine. It's worth going for even if it means we have to run. Would like a stunt to increase our chances though.

Because even if they couldnt win on their own,(and they could) they would seek allies.
And the Red Court would be all too willing to help break the US govt, for a price. So would the Fomor. The Denarians would make deals, as would various necromancers. Papa Raith had a working relationship with Outsiders.

This is almost precisely how we got into WW1 in the first place.

The White Council are at war. The events of Dead Beat, where they lost more than 50% of the pre-war Warden force, was less than a year ago. It was less than three months ago that Michael saved a chunk of their trainees. They frankly would not have the resources to back up the US against the White Court at this point in time, and would have to triage.

I mean, Dresden was training sixteen year olds to be Wardens at Camp Kaboom in early 2007.
That does not sound like a situation where they have tactical military forces to spare. The strategic might of the Senior Council and the old wizards remains, but those are not the prople who have to do the day to day ground work.

Do you not remember the events of the Fomor War? Where despite Dresden essentially wiping out the Reds, large chunks of the US was relying on the White Court to keep the Fomor at bay, and the White Council had to triage most of their available force to contest Europe? While the Fomor were holding coastal footholds in the US while contesting Europe?

The Council doesnt have all that much manpower on the ground to spare right now.

Canon Dresdenverse Whampires have been demonstrated to have magical Investments(Papa Raith, antimagic) snd high end magic talismans(Madrigal Raith, countermagic) to back up their physical capabilities.
ExWoD elder vampires can have Ancient Blood Sorcery.

Yes, a vampire knockoff of Invulnerable Skin of Bronze or Brilliant Flight of the Raptor? On the table.

This is an elder Skavis.
He is not nobility, but someone rolling around with at least Fortitude 7 and some combination Disciplines indicates that the QM is using some of the ExWoD base guidelines for vampire Elders(ExWoD pg 305):
-some Attributes/Abilities in the 7-9 range
-Willpower 8-10,
-a bunch of elder Disciplines(6-10)
-Generation 4-5

And since he thinks he'd be fighting something on the scale of a Kuei-Jin elder, he'd be going all out.
I think that you are still way underestimating the potential scale of any confrontation here.

And thats leaving aside that forcing a fight would be hella dumb.
Both tactically and strategically.

EDIT
Also worth keeping in mind is that OOC? Lara Raith is one of the Archive's local commanders in the Oblivion War.
Just as Thomas is a foot soldier.
We really dont want to weaken the internal defenses against the Old Ones.

Specifically, ExWoD provides quick-and-dirty rules for building Methuselah, who aren't generic "elders". They are more like, IDK, vampire Maeve, demigods to Antediluvian vampire gods.

So I don't think he actually got all that stuff you see being suggested for Methuselah, that would be absolutely insane. That said, 7th dot Fortitude still makes him a gen 6-ish equivalent, which is, ah.

Very painful to meet in a dark alley when you forgot your E3 + Open Eye at home.

If I remember how everything works correctly, and what suggested stats for 6 gen vamps are, we pretty much need Shintai to actually have a good chance to win.

All of them? No.
But Im not talking about the full Methuselah stat block. Thats, like you said, a painful package to run into in a dark alley.

But those are supposed to be around baseline for an elder iirc.
Methuselahs are supposed to get a bunch of fiat powers on top of that.
And Antediluvians get more fiat powers on top of that, in addition to relevant Attributes/Abilities at 10.

Just an elder rocking Fortitude 7+, Potence 4, Vicissitude 4 is going to be rolling around with 10 Soak against Agg.
At that point you are chucking refridgerators through walls.

[X] Introduce yourself properly, this charade has run its course
[X] Introduce yourself properly, this charade has run its course
Why?

With this sort of thing the big question is "and then what?"

What do we expect them to do with this information? How does it change the situation? Does it gain us anything, and if so is it the minimum risk and expense for that reward?

Identifying Molly Carpenter, daughter of the knight of the cross, in the near term either means nothing about the situation or paints us as hostile. An elder Skavis isn't going to go "Oh, you're with the good guys so I should get out of your way".

If we want to be hostile we should just attack, if we don't then an introduction is itself a mixed message that draws away from any point we're trying to make.

I think the stunt could use some work. It reads too much like an unpracticed lie to me, because it front loads information. Like a kid trying to get the whole story in your head before you can think of any piercing questions.

It also establishes too many different details and points in my opinion.

They're curious about our motives and connections to this situation, but they don't actually need to know that much. The more we tell them the more points of comparison there are for determining that something doesn't add up and the less space there is for the target to convince themselves of things.

We're unlikely to come up with as convincing an argument to either of these people as whatever they dream up going over this after the fact.

COMMENTARY
So politicians, military, priests and other clergy, high ranking political and social figures of influence.
Basically, authority figures.

To be honest, looking at Greene's October Surprise plan, all she'd achieve is chaos and a breakdown of faith in authority.
And frankly, she's supposed to be smart enough to realize that what she'd achieve is just chaos, as well as a paralysis of the willingness of governments to act. She has to know this.

Especially as she appeared to be timing it for the election season, around the same time as the economic crisis of 2006.
Its just fractally bad.

Very few Dresdenverse factions benefit from chaos for chaos sake.
One in particular comes to mind:
Death Masks said:

"Apocalypse is a frame of mind." [Nicodemus] said then. "A belief. A surrender to inevitability. It is a despair for the future. It is the death of hope."

I wish we had Hellscry Chakra.
I would really like to get a look at her magical aura.
Because right now its a flip of the coin between the Denarians and Nemesis.

Note that IIRC, Kuei-jin (can be) body jumpers.

Its not unheard of for one to leave its own original body and take up residence in a new one. There's a variant that do so regularly due to how messed up they were in Yomi Wan. Identifying ourselves as Molly Carpenter isnt the same thing as saying we are or are not Jade Court.

And since we did the thing with the YoungSkavis, we will need to drop contact deets.
Hell, if they get a look at Black Rider, they can simply check the DMV for who its registered to.

That said, I dont see why its something that has its own entire category.
More like something we just identify ourselves as a matter of course.
"Im Molly Carpenter, this is my phone number and email."
