LADY LINDY AND THE KHAN OF KHANS: Part 1 (0.6)
"Well, I have to hear more about these mysteries," Janeway said, walking with Roosevelt away from the desk, towards the exit of the office, Captain Earhart at her side. Roosevelt arched an eyebrow.

"Well, the first is...known by many, but the extent is known by few. It's a mystery of homes and such, we only came to realize it recently," he said, quietly. "No child across the continental United States has been born, since this strangeness began. Worse, the children that had been expected at that moment? They were born whether they were fit to be born or not - be it a few months off, or a few days. The lucky ones survived, but the less lucky..." He shook his head. "The event was massive, widespread, and we've been keeping a lid on it for the moment to reduce panic and avoid concerns..."

"I see," Janeway said, frowning. "Not sure about it being kept secret."

"There's enough panics and riots for the world just from the strangeness we've run into," the President said, quietly, as they entered into a large meeting chamber that adjoined the oval office. Several men were already arriving, settling into their seats - all of them in their military uniforms. Janeway recognized each from Tom Paris' quickly typed up historical précis. They were the expected Joint Chiefs, she could see that. But then what the President added stopped her short.

"And every child born has yet to reach the expected changes produced by age, slight as they should be," he murmured softly. "No one is willing to extrapolate to what is happening to everyone else, but the most...extravagant predictions is that none of us are aging. We can still die, as Mr. Khan has been overwhelmingly eager to demonstrate."

Janeway frowned - but then General Marshall barked out: "Well, this is the spacers we've heard are going to be saving our asses? Sit down and get jawing, woman."

Janeway frowned harder. Earhart leaned in, whispering to her ear. "Sorry, in advanced."

Janeway stepped forwrad. "Lets get started." She took out her PADD - which had the Dragon's plans laid out on them.

"Now, I wasn't that bad," Neelix Jr. said as he, Neelix, Brian and Danara walked towards the holodeck. Danara, leading the way, frowned down at him.

"Not that bad?" she asked.

"And besides, you're no longer loyal to the Vidiian Emergence?" Neelix Jr. sounded hopeful, his eyebrows creeping up towards the fringe of his hair. "So...really..."

"What happened, exactly?" Brian asked, curiously.

"This little admiral," Danara said. "Arrived at my Pod with a gaggle of disreputable mercenaries and claimed they were there to simply enjoy the afternoon's delights and hire a medtech." She turned to face him, frowning down at him. "I was on security. And instead of a medtech, you left with the entire Vidiian bioweapon research data, burned the entire gene library down-"

"Technically, I didn't burn it..."

"-and seduced the Podmaster's newest super soldier!" Danara finished off, glaring down at Neelix Jr., who looked quite solemn, standing up to his tallest height.

"I will have you know, Lizura seduced me, not the other way around," he said.

"She was nine feet tall!" Danara said, then stepped into the holodeck, shaking her head and muttering under her breath. Neelix shot a look at his nephew, who continued to look solemn and serious as he followed in after Danara. The holodeck had been set into a tactical room arrangement - with the currently known information on the Khanian empire spread out on a large globe. Danara rubbed her chin, narrowing her eyes as she looked it over.

"The power plants," she said, immediately.

"I thought the same thing," Brian said. "We've done preliminary scans - they're mostly fission and early fusion reactors, nothing dilithium enriched so he's running on the upper edge of what his power generators can provide."

"We can beam in some kind of sabotage system - neutron poisons, then beam out the control components for the fusion plants..."

"Won't that cause those plants to explode?" Neelix asked, frowning. "Most of them are in cities."

"They are hardened," Neelix Jr. said, nodding. "I've seen them while walking through imperial cities."

Danara nodded, slowly. "Then, of course..."

***

"It can't be that easy," General Marshall said.

The shimmering crackled of a teleporter going off filled the air. Janeway had to admit, Tom and C'nola couldn't have planned it with better timing if they had tried. The stasis container appeared in the room beside them, and within, was a faintly shocked looking Khan Noonian Sing, his body frozen in the moment between lifting his fist and thrusting it towards the hardened carapace of the outer edge of the container. Janeway gestured towards him.

"We've currently crippled the energy infrastructure of the Empire and have their leader captured. It's kind of hard to stand up against a fully advanced transporter without energy shield technology," Janeway said, then noticed that, out of the corner of her eye, she could see Captain Earheart giving her the hugest, most goofy smile that she had ever seen on the serious woman. Janeway felt as if she had just gained a meter in height and looked over at the table, the Joint Chiefs all gaping at the stasis pod.

"Well...I say we convene the Hauge, but the Hague is radioactive ash right now," General Marshal said, slowly, shaking his head. "Well, I'll be damned."

Now, now, strictly speaking he did also leave with a medtech. If his clone brother ever showed up at that pod...

I strongly suspect the problems were intentional. You don't just get the ideal conquerer by accident.

Which is also why we shouldn't talk to him until we have the situation well in hand. The Khan isn't likely to know any more than his subordinates and he has the skillset and motives to make things more complicated for us.

I want confirmation on this point. The way the federation reacts to human augs is very strange, and a lot of it stems from the eugenics wars.

I think we should pay some mind to preparing for the real big bad of the episode: whoever set up this experiment.

Perhaps we can find clues by talking to local scientists and scanning the boundaries between time zones or whatever.

It's not information Khan is likely to personally know, so we don't need to wake him up. Just take a biopsy with the transporter.

(I'm personally inclined to propose brain-ripping him for what he does know, but I don't think the Doctor would go for it.)

LADY LINDY AND THE KHAN OF KHANS: Part 1 (0.7)
"I think it's best if we keep him on ice for the time being," Janeway said, nodding slightly as she did so, glancing over at the Joint Chiefs. "Khan, as terrible as it may be to contemplate, isn't the end of your problems."

"You can say that again!" Roosevelt said, frowning. "Our non-territorial holdings, huge chunks of the navy, weren't in the continental united states when the Strangeness started-"

"No, worse than that," Janeway said. She had agreed with her fellow officers and Neelix when they had discussed what would be done after Khan. There had always been a chance that their sheer technological edge would allow for this. But that meant there was little time to work up a buffer as to the real, huge issue that was hanging over everything. "You see, this planet is not in an isolated part of space. There exist several interstellar powers that are going to learn about your existence and-"

The sound of shattering glass was so shocking that Janeway froze completely still, then looked out towards the glass windows of the small office. It was taken as read that the United States was the safest place to be during the 1930s and 1940s, when it came to the global war that was mulching the entire generation beyond their shores. So, it was not exactly strange that those windows were unshuttered and guarded only by the secret service. But still...Janeway was rather confused by the fact that all those windows were completely unharmed.

Then Captain Earhart tackled her to the ground with a shout. "Look out!"

A buzzing sound - rather like a low powered phaser - filled the air as General Marshal and two other members of the Joint Chiefs went sprawling, their bodies shrouded by a nimbus of blue-white energy. Janeway, craning her head past Roosevelt, who Earhart had tackled as well, saw that the stasis capsule was...

Empty?

Not just empty, the glass face was shattered. A white clad figure sprinted from the room - the door bouncing shut after him as Janeway scrambled to her feet. "You have to be..." She spluttered.

"How did he get out?" Earhart snarled, springing to her feet, holding her revolver in her hand. "Stay down, Mr. President!"

"I intend too!" Roosevelt said as Secret Servicemen burst into the room from the other side - but the servicemen who had been guarding the other door were sprawled to the ground. Janeway jogged over to Marshal, putting her fingers to his neck, feeling - and finding a thudding pulse.

"He just has a stunner," Janeway said, nodding, then tapped her combadge. "Janeway to bridge, Khan escaped."

"How!?" Tom exclaimed over the line.

"I don't know, T'are, scan the region, find out, something must have fucked with the stasis pod." Janeway stood, considering fiercely.
