  • [X] Plan: Hello Fellow Kids
-[X] Stick to public spaces with lots of people. Your stalker hasn't made a move yet, so it's probably a safe bet to stay where law enforcement can help you.
-[X] Walk up to the gaggle of kids looking for a fight, and try to be as non-threatening as possible. If they really are do-gooder vigilantes from a detective agency, surely they wouldn't punch a homeless, injured man and his only guide just trying to buy some clothing? Inform them you two are on your way to a meeting with Wei and the Rat King, and show them the note to show you're not lying.
    [X] Plan: Nigerundayo
-[X] Walk slowly over to the kids watching you and show them the invite to talk with Wei. Explain that Capone hadn't caused any harm to anyone earlier and was peacefully cooperating with the authorities in terms of the damage he caused regardless. Attempt to let Sieg shine through more than the Steel Determination.
-[X] After that, whether they follow or not, start sprinting and tell Capone and them if they followed to sprint as well. Make sure to avoid going into any possible alleys or such if forced to go near them on the roadside by the press of crowds, do not allow the so called "Legendary Fighter" to catch you out of public view. They'll probably want to avoid making a ruckus. If they decide to instead try and fight you in public, attempt to signal any law enforcement nearby for help and get the kids to safety. Then, lure them to the bar by yourself and Capone hotfooting it out of there. No way they can take on a wounded Color Fixer, the so-called Rat King(sounds like a fearsome Syndicate leader), Penguin Logistics, and the city's Head at the same time.
[X] Walk over to the kids and introduce yourself and your partner, and a brief rundown of what the situation is and drag them along for the ride to make sure they don't pointlessly die to the crazy guy following you.
-[X] Tell Capone to disguise himself and come up with beilivable identity. Stick to that story no matter what happens.
[X] Lead pursuers unto each other and escape while they busy.
[X] Walk over to the kids and call over the Lone Wolf to talk. Give them a rundown about the situation, clarify that Capone is with us now and that you are preparing for a meeting with Wei, Emperor and the Rat King. It is up to them if they want to follow us or not, we don't really care.
-[X] Make it clear that you don't want a fight, deescalate tensions and so on.
-[X] Ask then what each group want from us, if its about the mess earlier today, tell them that's what the meeting is for.
-[X] If the Lone Wolf is after Capone, ask what would be needed in exchange for leaving Capone alone.
-[X] Ask the trio if they have any recommendations for shops to buy whatever we need currently as well as they have any idea on any big nos to do during the meeting. We don't know much of the etiquette here.
    [X] Planning the Funeral
-[X] Ask Capone to eject his head, spine and vital organs in order to fake his death.
-[X] Pretend to rip his head off, and run away very quickly. They have no reason to assume this wouldn't be extremely fatal.

Interlude: Time
Interlude: Time

It is night. Two figures walk through the corridors of Rhodes Island. One of them leaves strange footsteps.

Clink, clink, clank.

The sound of metal boots on the metal floor. The cameras cannot properly see these figures. Were one to look into the correct camera for this exact corridor... they would see nothing- nothing but looped footage. Only one of them has a visible body. A young man, carrying a mop- then a young woman in chef's clothing, and then the Officer-in-Charge of the Rhodes Island Medical Deparment- Kal'tsit. Then, they switch back to the chef. Her hair is white, but her face is obscured by a black bar.

"…did you really have to get me to bring you here?" she asks.

"Yes. Are you nervous, Linette?" asks a deep, robotic voice.

The woman sighs.

"Dodging S.W.E.E.P isn't an easy task, you know. I've been on thin ice for the last month. I don't think the identity of a janitor is going to last long if I keep using it for things like this." she switches back to Kal'tsit, and mutters something.

"H-hmph. I will conduct scientific examinations on you at regular intervals, recording your vital signs and state of consciousness. Others do not have this authority. If anyone wishes to conduct an examination on you, you have the right to refuse. Do you understand?" Linette says, in a voice that is not hers.

She snaps her fingers.

"Yeah, I think that's what she sounds like. Almost getting that woman's voice nailed down. By the way, how did you get all that information on the network structure, Lech?"

The aforementioned "Lech," takes a brief pause. His body is almost entirely covered by metal prosthetics. His very face has been replaced by some sort of visor, and the slit in the visor shines with purple light. He is supported by a silver cane.

"I worked here before. A long time ago. Though it used to have a different name." says the cyborg. "…arrange for "Jake," to get fired from his job as a janitor. Rhodes Island is soon to dock. You can make your escape after this occurs. No one will be any wiser, I believe. And put some more seriousness- you sound almost too happy."

Linette clicks her tongue.

"Yeah, sounds about right. Girl's sounds like a real no-fun-allowed type of gal. I can trust that you'll be there to pick me up when that happens? What about Sleepy and Nicole?"

...Sleepy, and Nicole Teene. Enam and Piernascie- Fifteen and Fourteen. They have walked their own paths to find Rhodes Island. They have yet to find any other person of their Office- but they remain driven to attain this goal.

"Sleepy and Nicole are getting used to their life as Rhodes Island Operators. Do not enter contact with them unless strictly necessary. How is your identity as the Mirrored Knight? Our finances have taken a hit. Perhaps you could compete in the upcoming Major."

Linette's face remains obscured, but the displeasure at being reminded of her time in Kazmierz is obvious in her features. It is not a set of memories she finds pleasant.

"Okay, I guess. If Degenbrecher isn't going to be there to shatter my ribs into a mist, like she did to me for two Majors in a row... then I guess Knighthood can't be that bad of a gig… my sponsors dropped me, though. I haven't gone to the recent Major. Think the Nearl girl won it. But it shouldn't be trouble getting them back, everyone loved me. What about you? What did you want to do here?"

Lech's visor twitches.

"It is something of personal significance. Just… paying my respects. Please open the door, Linette. As for the first question, I will be checking up on Reunion. Nine will require assistance in rebuilding the organization."

Rhodes Island Integrated Bioprocessing Unit, the small plaque on the side of the door reads.

The locked door opens with a hissing noise.

"…It's done." notes the shapeshifter.

"Thank you, Linette."

"It's… a warehouse? Fuck, there's a ton of stuff. Weapons, armor…"

"Please do not touch anything. We are not to leave a trail. I will remain here for a few minutes."

The cyborg takes a clock from his suit pocket, and places it in Linette's hand.

"In around one hour, thirty-four minutes, and thirty-five seconds, Gladiia, Ægir technology consul, Honorary Army leader, and the chief combat strategist of the Ægir military organization "Abyssal Hunters," will land on the Rhodes Island landship."

The clock has the same color as Lech's metallic skin.

"In one hour, forty-two minutes, and eleven seconds, she will enter contact with her fellow Hunters, Skadi and Specter.

Yet, its hands do not move. The clock is stopped.

"In two hours and twenty-five minutes, the Hunter known as Skadi will leave Rhodes Island. That will be my opportunity to leave. In the ensuing confusion that will be created, thanks to the passenger of this ship known as Specter, who, as you have discovered in your period of infiltration, is an Oripathy patient carrying enough Originium in her spine to infect a country. She will disappear, and will make my exit. In the meanwhile, you need not worry. You will return to your quarters and prepare to get yourself fired."

Linette lets out a growl- assuming the form of an old, wizened Inquisitor.

"...you're really channeling Sieg here. I don't like you trying to play boss, Lech. We both know you don't get to pull rank on me. I've worked in Turbulence for longer then you."

There is a minute of silence. Then, the tentacled Seaborn creature- whose face is obscured by a black bar- lets out a hissing noise, almost like a sort of strangled, gooey laugh. Then, the woman in chef's clothing is back there again.

"Come on, I'm just pulling your leg. See ya, Lech."

"You really haven't changed, Linette. See you soon."

Linette walks away, slipping right back into the old identity of the janitor with practiced ease. Utterly forgettable, utterly unremarkable. One of the many little people who keep everything working behind the scenes. Reserve Operators, engineers... these masks are so utterly trivial to slip into, and yet so convenient. Had she chosen to enter Rhodes Island by taking the facade of an actual Operator, S.W.E.E.P would have rooted Linette out already.

They have come close, in many occasions. Lech knew that, had he not come to intervene and get Linette out of Rhodes Island, she would have gotten just a tiny little bit too greedy- and her secret would have been revealed. There was, according to your own predictions based in what you knew of Abyssal Hunters and the capacities of Rhodes Island's internal defenses, a roughly three in four chance of her escape from Rhodes Island ending in her capture, without your intervention. A one in twelve chance of an escape attempt ending in her death.

If Beats was here, he could have provided a much better plan and much better predictions. But it seems that the internal security had gotten better since the old days.

Linette stops.

"By the way, this is your Arts unit, no?" she asks, pointing at the stopped clock. Lech nods, then lifts up his hand in a "kind of" gesture. "One of them. Right, forgot about the cane. Bomb?"

"Insurance." says the cyborg.

She smiles. Nevertheless, it does not matter anyway. Insurance is often one of those rare products that is bought in the hopes that it is never used. Then, she continues her path.

The man known as Lech walks all the way to the corner of the room.

In that very same corner, someone has placed a shield. It is burned, scratched, and partially melted. In its center, proudly stands the Rhodes Island logo. Yet, it is kept clean. Someone has taken immaculate care of this shield. Day after day, someone has descended here to make it sure it remains in as pristine of a condition as possible.

By its side, someone has left a bottle of beer.

"…Ace. It has been a long time."

so, seems like our dear friends lech has been living like a lich.
I have to wonder how many time that he stole from other people, since he is living on someone else's time.
Or is he really lech, did the time on terra changed him so much that he is no longer that man who fight alongside sieg or is someone pretending to be him.

Who's Ace supposed to be?

At first, I thought it was the Turb Office member #1, but then I refreshed my memory on who that is and figured that the QM wouldn't just kill The Malkuth Reverberation off-screen. No one who calls themselves the #2 Malkuth Fan would do her dirty like that.

(I also really want to see people react to malkuth-speech, and refuse to accept that that isn't happening)

So it's probably someone from the Arknights side.

Oh.

Remember how everyone got blasted off to different points in space and time?

Lech got sent to the past, probably further than anyone else.

Ace was a veteran of Rhodes Island, present when it was still going by Babel. He died buying time for the MC of Arknights to escape in the first episode of the game.

Guess they knew each other, but was away for a while.

So Linette was in Kazmierz, but it looks like it was quite some time ago. I wonder if we chose that option in the start we could have met up.

And there's the set up to Under Tides. Does that mean Linnete is gonna show up at San Viento?

Think she can steal Seaborn infection out of a person?

Ah so Lech used to work for Babel. Meaning he knows stuffs. Meaning he knew pre-amnesia Doctor, and possibly why they did what they did considering his power that we just seen. I kinda wonder what his opinion on the Doctor is, most of the operator that used to work for Babel have varying opinion of them. W hate them, Scout was concern the war would turn Doctor into a war machine (it did)

Ace

Rhodes Island's Elite Operator (It mean they're VERY fucking strong), who died in chapter 1 in order to save the Doctor and the others.
The few thing I can list off the top of my head
- He have compete faith in Doctor
- Everyone respect him
- Won 2nd place in Rhodes Island' office chair race (Winner being Logo)
- Ace should be strong like the other Elite Operator. Sharp another of the E-Operator, was able to match blows for blows against Degenbrecher (who seems to have smash Linette in). Mechanist, who was able to block Saria's calcium punch (Very strong and it would be better for her to throw hands instead of smashing people with her shield) and said he could have done more. Rosmontis who toss building at people.

He is working with Reunion? There is a story there alright.

...Oh. He was part of Babel, wasn't he? Lech really has been here a long time. Ace was a veteran member of Rhodes Island before dying to protect the Doctor and everyone else out of the hell that the story starts on. I think he was around since the Babel era as well, my lore is a little rusty though.

Man, I can feel the sheer weight of time that is on this man. Being without Turbulence office for so long and even where some of them show up, it has been years at least. I never considered what being without Sieg, or Sieg without them, would be like for so long. I need to see the band back together now, my heart can't take this.

On a different note, I always did wonder if anything could be made with the connection between the Tower of Babel in Arknight and the Library, which is based on the Library of Babel, in Ruina. Just a neat coincidence, but an interesting one.

That's supposed to be Scout I think, he never got his rematch with Logos sadly.

That aside, wow, this is a bombshell of a interlude. Some of the Turbulence Office members have been on Terra for a long time.

One of them was around when Babel was still a thing, long enough that Amiya was still a child, and one of them even had the unfortunate fate of having to fight Degenbrecher twice though that one's a bit more recent compared to Babel.

The connections to Reunion are a surprise however. If they're working with Nine, they know about Talulah and possibly how the Deathless Black Snake fits into the fall of old Reunion, and by extension, they may have had dealings with good ole Cannot and the Rusthammers. If they're working with Cannot, then they're probably better informed than most about the various apocalyptic threats that Terra's completely unprepared for.

Hm, even given Carmen's Carmen antics, having a old hat who knows most of the Deep Lore and is inclined towards doing something helpful with it is probably a overall net positive for the setting? That's really surprising, I was expecting Carmen to overall make things worse (Sieghart and the nature of a Quest aside)

Oh yeah, it was Scout, regardless they're both dead. Slam hand on desk.

If Lech was here since the beginning of the civil-war, then at least a decade or more. I'm also not wholly sure if Theresa called it Babel for a deeper meaning or if it was just a name to her. But if there is a deeper meaning, possible?

Babel is a bit of a risky name. Basically saying that you are destined to fall by god's will.

It fits in Ruina since the Library gives up it's "Babel" status no matter what route you choose. Never being able to reach Heaven.

Duno how the Arknight's Babel is though.

Carmen's interesting in that her Distortions would massively destabilize Terra's nations thanks to the damage they could do, but at the same time, Carmen would have really good reasons to fight against the other threats on Terra.

From what I've read in this thread, Carmen is a individualist who believes that the path to a peaceful world lies in people being true to themselves and expressibg their individuality without fear of judgement. That runs counter to 3 major threats.

The Seaborn:
- As discussed before, the Seaborn are the ultimate opposite to Carmen's philosophy of egoism and the individual above all else. The Seaborn as a whole do not care for individuals and they instead prioritize the survival of the collective above all else. Individual Seaborn will willingly let others feed and kill them if it'll serve the collective's interest, and we know that Cultists who turn into Seaborn essentially suffer ego death as they're subsumed into the hivemind.

For obvious reasons, Carmen would find this horrific.

The Deathless Black Snake:
- Carmen for all her insanity, does seem like she actually wants to build people up for the sake of a better world. It's just that being a disembodied voice has warped her perception. The Deathless Black Snake however, only builds people up so it can tear them down and replace their ego with its own as former idealists are forced to admit that its philosophy of authoritarian brutality where the people are sheep whose natural state of being is malice and selfishness can only be herded and united by strong leaders is the truth.

The methods for the Snake's immortality would be reprehensible to Carmen, and I'm sure she'd find its goals equally horrid considering she's an idealist at heart.

The Sui:
- The story of the Sui's fragments would probably be sympathetic to Carmen. Here are the fragments of a dead god trying to maintain their individuality at all costs. For example, Nian represents metallurgy and blacksmithing, but she refuses to use those skills outside of specific scenarios, instead focusing her efforts in media and arts such as directing B-list movies as a way to assert her sense of self over the original Sui who seeks to revive by uniting its fragments, thus effectively killing their sense of self.

Carmen being a net positive for the world is possible since she'd help counterbalance other threats, but she's still a massive threat to civilization especially once she regains the ability to talk to people that aren't near Sieg.
