Alright, We've finally got someone on the same tier as a fully power's Seig. Now I don't know too much about Arknights lore so I'll need those more informed to tell me what this Wei Yenwu is capable of.
Wei Yenwu taught Ch'en everything she knows about swordsmanship. Normally, one would need his teachings and the sword Chi'Xiao to perform the special techniques the sword has, but Wei has mastered it to the point that he can just use his fingers to cut buildings apart. Other than that, we haven't really seen him fight much since even when he wanted to fight, the Rat King got in his way since he was walking straught into the Snake's trap.

That said, priority number 1 is likely making it clear that Capone is no longer hostile, and they should avoid killing him since he's with us now.

They want information and we want supplies and direction. Everyone can win here.

Right now, i'm thinking of doing the following:

[X] Plan: Information Broker
-[X] Calm everyone down and assure them there's a good reason why you have Capone with you.
-[X] Before that however, get everyone to loosen up a bit over drinks and ask about Exusiai, Bison and Sora's wellbeing before you give them a basic rundown of the Distortion phenomenon. Describe it as a curse of the mind and soul that warps the body, a condition born from extreme desperation.
-[X] Before you offer more information however, inform them that you've promised to help Capone cure himself of it, and you keep your promises.
-[X] As such, make it clear what you want in exchange for what you know of Distortions and how to safeguard against them.
--[X] You want Wei's word that Capone will leave Lungmen with you safely. He didn't kill any of Wei's citizens last night, and if he does relapse, at least it won't be anywhere near Lungmen.
--[X] You want information regarding Sal Viento, and the resources to travel there. If they ask why, just say that you're looking to help a couple of friends.
--[X] You need the best doctors they can find. They've probably seen your medical records already, but you have a wound that won't heal.
--[X] If they agree to the deal, keep your origins secret and instead focus on the conditions needed to trigger a Distortion, the early symptoms one might be able to observe in a patient, and what can be done to keep a person from going over the edge. Ask Ayin for help if you need his help for some of the more technical aspects of the explanaion. Similarly, if prevention fails, tell them about your personal experiences when fighting Distortions and how you solve them. Emphasize that it's possible to somewhat normalize someone who went through a Distortion such as Capone, and that it doesn't have to always end in death even if that is the more common result.

Sieg has some positive cred with Penguin Logistics, so let's maintain that by showing concern for the folks Sieg shared a fight with. Sora and Bison were ordered to leave, but not all injuries are physical like Exu's!

Then we can get down to business. Lay out what Sieg wants and what he can offer in return, and then proceed from there. Should probably keep the voices in his head a secret though, along with the whole dimension hopper thing since that just leads to more questions that no one can answer.

Frostnova fans have been in shambles ever since 6-17, haven't they? Huffing entire pools of copium.
Our copium supplies are vast enough to count as a singularity!

So he is probably as dangerous in person as a more combative Color (even tho all of them are, some seem more specialized), as Purple Tear in Leviathan cuts through a skyscraper/large sized building horizontally with a casual wrist flick and a sword, so maybe around that/higher than that.

Iori mostly seems to be keikaku, dimensional bullshit and versatility specialized as well, not raw combat unga.

We would be instantly bodied as we are right now, but just to establish some probable levels.

[X] Plan: Information Broker

Oh yeah,, that's right. I read that Super Punishment King was here but completely forgot about Herald of the Apocalypse right after. Maybe we should control a little bit of what we say in front of Substitute Soul Reaper, just in case Sacred Hunting Maniac go tell the pope. Though would Suffering telling the pope change anything? Also Chosen Overseer would need to go back to Laterano to tell him, and I don't know how fast Flaming Envoy would be able to make that trip.

I just realized the redhead is Fiametta One-Armed Chainsaw Guy not Fumizuki like I for some reason I thought. Pope Santa/Gaben's gonna be hearing everything.

The Pope man would learn from Mostima eventually even if Fiammeta wasn't there. They're actually on pretty chummy with each other despite the whole Fallen thing soooooo

Pope's a pretty swell guy yeah, but my thought process was that Mostima (my beloved kyaa) would be less likely to beeline it straight to the guy. you're right though, he'll be hearing it anyways.

Also, it seems like abel still hates Angela down to the bone.
Which seems right, considering he never learned any lessons until his death.

I've been thinking about the other Ayins, Adam is going to help Carmen/hinder Abel, Abram could easily be manipulated by Carmen to do her bidding, and X... I have no idea. The only one who really seems likely to help us is Abel (maybe X), the number of possible voices against us is bigger than the number with us. That could end up being problematic right? Maybe we could try to give Abel more traits? Would that help in any way? Dunno.

We could just try to kill them for their Abnormalities if something like this choice comes up again. Poor Screenwriter's wasn't the greatest and Abel was pretty good, but we aren't locked onto that course of action.

The Mirrored Knight LOSES AGAIN: Is She Losing Her Touch?

BY RED WINE
Viewed by 103k

She is the legendary almost-winner of the 20th Kazimierz Major, the all-favorite amongst her brethen. Voted Most Stylish Suit of Armor three times in a row with massive popular acclaim thanks to her magnificently resplandecent reflective armoring covering her entire body. She is Melka "Linette" Ostrowski, the Mirrored Knight. And she just lost.

Again.

Well, that is not really fair to her. The Mirrored Knight had almost everything that took to win the 21th Major and finally break the Black Knight's winstreak. After her impassioned and spetacular defeat of the Bladewind Knight, which will surely remain one of the greatest fights to ever grace the annals of the Majors, one might think that she had a chance to win this time.

But they would be wrong, obviously. She didn't.

To properly understand how low the Mirrored Knight has sunk, one must first understand their history. Unlike many other competitors in the Kazimierz Majors, Linette has become notorious for refusing to disclose her origins to the media. Many have complained: but according to the rulings, there is nothing wrong with her legal status, and the Mirrored Knight managed to hold on her right to privacy. This, much to our chagrin, led to the tendency of "Mystery Knights-" knights refusing to reveal their details to the public and leaving people like us in the dark!

The 20th Kazimierz Major was their first step to greatness. The Mirrored Knight made an explosive debut by handily defeating the fan favorite, the Chained Knight, in his own preferred battlefield- a Capture the Flag match. She did this by somehow replicating his Arts, a never-seen-before ability that left the entire audience stunned. Manipulating his own enchanted chains he had launched against her, Linette disabled the Chainwrath Knightclub's advances and easily conquered the match. While there were other knights involved in the match, the Mirrored Knight easily stole the show.

She would not remain content with this defeat, breaking through the ranks of many famous Knightclubs in her road to victory, constructing quite a list. The Voice of Rosebud has compiled some of her key fights of the 20th Major:

Black Knight vs Mirrored Knight (finals)"Mirroed Knight" Linette
X
"Black Knight" Degenbrecher
Black Knight victory: Black Knight crowned Champion for the 2nd time in a row. Mirrored Knight states intent to return.

With the 21th Major open, many people were excited for the return of the Mirrored Knight. And io, she did not disappoint. At least not at first.

With an incredible fight against the Bladewind knight in the quarterfinals, and a similar fight against the Silver Knight. The Silver Knight's spear was broken after Linette slammed it on his own head during a mocking gesture. Her attitude, which had been charming during the 20th Major, now was only annoying. Her complete lack of respect for other candidates to championship, with the sole exception of the Black Knight, made her one of the most divisive competitors of the season.

In a talk with Madam Russell, the Grand Knight, on the night after the Silver Knight's defeat in the semifinals, the current Spokesman of the National Council, Kristoffer Ozella, denoted the Mirrored Knight as someone lacking in true virtue- someone with no spirit of camaderie, who could not understand companionship. Russell herself did not answer. When asked what she thought of this opinion in her post-duel interview, Linette showed confusion- saying that she did not watch much television. She then asked what exactly Ozella had said.

When presented with the speech, Linette went berserk- screaming profanities at the camera. She had to be escorted out of the interview before she attempted to aggress a reporter. She was said to scream "how dare you, you fucking-!?" as she was led out of the building.

This, along with her general conduct in the Major, was what led to few tears being shed when she was defeated by the Black Knight, again, in a pitched battle. As she could not replicate her Arts, because the Black Knight had none, Linette revealed a skill that had been utterly unknown before all fights- she perfectly replicated the Black Knight's fighting style.

The fight lasted for much longer then the average duel, even for the standards of Kazimierz Major finals. In the end, a much-weakened Linette, who had a considerable part of her armoring shattered, revealed yet another skill- transforming herself into a perfect copy of the Black Knight, weaponry included.

In the end, this spelled her doom. With this ability, she ended up violating Article VII of the Major's rulings: Competition knights may not in any way interfere with the judges' ability to make subjective rulings.

This rule is typically interpreted in order to illegalize any means which would prevent the judges from making fair decisions regarding the match's outcome. This is typically used in response to match-obscuring abilities such as illusionary Arts or smokescreen Arts that could be used to conceal fouls: such as the Shrapnel Knight's attempted dust cloud in the 20th Major. The fight was immediately ended, but not before the Black Knight delivered a rib-shattering kick to Linette's chest.

As such, the victory of the Black Knight, for the 3rd time in a row, was declared by simultaneous defeat ruling, as the Mirrored Knight had taken a considerably higher amount of damage during the fight, and rule-violation rulings by the way of Article VII, a match result unforeseen in any previous majors.

While the new Champion said in interview that she was profoundly unsatifisfied with the result of the fight and wished for a rematch as soon as she could, the Mirrored Knight was not seen in the Black Knight's victory ceremony. In fact, she seems to have disappeared from Kazimierz entirely. I say to her: good riddance. Not only was she profoundly disrespectful to the Major's traditions, she is also just plain sad: a talentless knight who could not even learn actual Arts and had to piggyback in the accomplishments of people who deserve them.

She is also very obviously growing weaker: while her performance was flashy, one can obviously notice that she needed to unveil entirely new abilities to match the Black Knight, while previous fights had her stand against the Leithanian champion without any need for them.

We hope that Linette, Mirrored Knight, does not return to taint the Major with her presence, and we are sure that our readers will agree.

And just like that, our chances of getting jobs once the Office is reunited went just that much lower.
eeeeh, probably not quite as much as it could since she never actually got to become a Grand Knight and got beaten into the ground by Degenbrecher, Degen's legend might end up just completely overshadowing her and in Kazimierz non-Grand Knights who don't keep coming back are quickly forgotten.
but yeah uh.. might not exactly help our reputation.

Hopefully Rat King is making it big by being a party clown.
"Rats, rats, we are the rats, celebrating yet another birthday bash."

Tho it somewhat funny that Linette still won using the copy arts since the stuff she copy are weakened. Meaning, unlike the average LoR player, she know how to read.

Yeah, Ayin did one thing that Abel didn't. Even if it took thousands of years to do so. He apologized.

Abel, for all being the most reserved and agreeable of the Ayins, was also the one who failed to complete any of the Meltdowns. He's intelligent and calm, but he lacks empathy and compassion.

First, slow down. You take a deep breath, and the world stops- your perception accelerating a thousandfold. Slow down, slow down. You need time to think and analyze the situation.
Well, that's neat. Wonder what augmentation gives us that. We can just do that whenever, huh? Comes with an off switch and everything.

Ain't it sad, Angela?

Hm. You need to negotiate. The girl is a vigilante- she has likely being messing around with the local Syndicates and holds quite a grudge. As Capone is himself a Syndicate leader and thus the cause of numerous issues with this city. You have no illusions as to the moral fiber of Syndicates- protection rackets, kidnappings and probably even drug trade are all possible additions to Capone's resume.
One would think that drug trading is more likely than kidnapping.

Or the City is just a place more kidnapping is more commonplace than drugs.

It could happen.

It's quite simple. The Fixer economy is in shambles. Absolute shambles.
Didn't expect a rundown on Fixer economics, but okay!

Also didn't think the existence of Hook Office was just a symptom of a larger problem, and that the Library eating a bunch of the top brass would leave a lot of open spaces for other groups to fill in, but it makes sense? I really like how you just took this one thing mentioned off hand in someone's backstory and just explored the implications it would on the setting as a whole, really fleshes out the world.

Good morning, kids! How are you doing?" you say as loudly and clearly as you can.
Hellofellowkids.jpg

Crazy Cat's eyebrows rise.

"Whoa, whoa, hold up. You mean the huge monster we saw sailin' through the sky yesterday? The one with the wings?" he turns towards you. "The hell happened to it!?"
It keeps throwing me off that the tiny cat mad scientist talks really casually and sounds like a surfer dude.

Like he gonna say " Sup, my dude? Gonna head out with Warfarin to cooking' up a new batch of the good stuff. Peace."

Meanwhile Hung is a nice polite boy and Waai Fu is a little, overly formal? Like she walked out of a an old Kung Fu movie. These kids are great.

I HAVE A MEETING WITH THE RAT KING, LONE WOLF. PLEASE, LET'S WAIT UNTIL IT'S DONE TO GET YOUR BUSINESS WITH CAPONE RESOLVED, OKAY?." you scream at the top of your lungs. You see the silver-haired girl looking at you. She blinks, shrugs, and then walks away. "THANK YOU. BYE."
OH MY GOD I DIDN'T THINK YOU WOULD JUST TELL HER.

Eh, it probably would've happened anyways. No biggie.

That shop was excellent. Good service, good products, excellent aesthetic, polite staff, well-cared for, you get a free 30% discount in breakfast or lunch if you buy a weapon or armor.
What an excellent idea. Why don't all restaurants start selling weapons? Or all weapons shops start selling food? "Buy our morning special and we'll throwing in a complementary grenade!"

No use crying over spilt milk, though. The Dilaceration Workshop's greatest work is now gone. That's that, and this is this.

…you feel very strange saying these words, for some reason. Oh well.
ROLAND HE'S STEALING YOUR CATCHPHRASE.

"...to put it simply, it seems that Carmen has been scouting targets for Distortion purposes."
Yeah, the fact that Carmen went international is terrifying, since it means it's impossible to reach them all and ensures that someone is getting distorted.

So it looks like in order of instability it's Big Sad Lock, Koshelna, and Crowntaker. Big Sad Lock was stated to be close to the edge but holding back, and messing with Koshelna means messing with the Snake, and Crowntaker is the safest but also the least urgent.

Interesting that the Deathless Black Snake cannot perceive Carmen. Maybe they operate on different wavelengths, like the Snake feeds on the mind while Carmen is something more fundamental and encompassing like the soul?

It means the Originium will start replicating inside of ya. Growing, cutting, ripping through your insides. 'Til you die. And when you die you turn to Originium dust, to start it all over again."
And the City would just look at it and say, "Sweet, more profit!"

It's probably the worst aspect of the City, not the monsters or the technology that runs on suffering or the crazy cults or whatever new atrocity there is.

It's just how banal it all is. How normal. The part where for all the suffering and pain and horrible abominations are treated as normal and everyone just agrees, like it's right and pushes down everyone who says otherwise.

A giant crab bucket, all pulling each other down so no one can escape the pit.

A self-replicating mineral… I recall obtaining such an entity from the Ruins… an Abnormality. What was the number? T-07-175, yes. The "Valley of Mercury." ALEPH-class. Deemed too hostile, even with 75% Qliphoth Deterrence or higher, and placed in storage indefinitely."
T-O7 means... a breaching tool borne from trauma? So it's just a pile of poison that spreads everywhere? What's even the use of that?

Thinking about it, Mercury was a substance believed to hold the secret to immortality so people drank it and covered themselves in it. All it did that was kill them and drive them insane. So maybe it has healing properties but could kill someone then spread to others? Like a fusion of Tree Sap and Melting Love.

Do you know who the Deathless Black Snake is?"

He stares at you in confusion. "No? Why ya asking?"

"Heard the name somewhere."

"Eh, it's probably nothing important. Never heard of it. Even sounds like a really dumb name."
Takes a megaphone. "HEAR THAT LOSER!? YOUR NICKNAME IS DUMB!"

The second is a strange girl. She is staring at you… her hair is red, and her haircut is… strange, at best. She sculpted it in two strange, pointy shapes. She also has… is that a tail? She turns her head towards Capone, and seems immediately struck by disbelief.

The third you recognize as well- it's Mostima. That light smile never seems to leave her face, but there is a sharpness in her eyes once she looks at Capone.

The fourth is the Rat King. You know, the rat guy in the long, expensive-looking coat. He is not looking at you, but rather at Capone. He looks confused.
Man, Capone sure is popular today!

I fear for him, please let our ex-worm dog boy be okay.

Really, if you were to speak about all of the ludicrous amount of fashion this man is carrying you'd be here for hours.
Yeeeah, kuroblood's art is like that.
But damn if he doesn't look amazing.

…this is a man who clearly puts quite a lot of stock in his appearance. Very well-cared for. He is also a serious threat- such a thing is palpable in the air. You think this is a man who could challenge you at your full power. Someone who would stand as a Star of the City in his own right- and hold against your most devastating strike- your Mirrored Light. You are to treat him with the utmost respect.

At our best? Maybe.
Injured, with substandard equipment and lacking most of our team? Nah.

For plans, I'm worried that if we push too hard we end up overstepping. We are a foreigner that somehow showed up out of the blue and the same day a monster showed. And then we talked to it and it went inert? We don't want this to be an interrogation but we need to give info. Our initial position seems bad so I am not sure how much he would tolerate.
I've been thinking about the other Ayins, Adam is going to help Carmen/hinder Abel, Abram could easily be manipulated by Carmen to do her bidding, and X... I have no idea. It is possible that the others have learned lessons from the Light like Abel did, attaining the will to move forward instead of resigning himself to stagnation.

So maybe Abram could stop being a sadsack moaning about what he had lost and try to protect what he has now, and Adam could get a reality check and become a functional member of society instead of a chunni edgelord.

Maybe. We could hope.

Isn't Red Wine the magazine that had clickbait headlines for things that never happened? Like the one where the Nightmare Knight only assaulted the Nearls because he was a raging incel who proposed to Margaret, only to be shutdown by "I only date pegasi" and so he took out his anger on Maria? That, and they also wrote about how the Candle Knight was bathing in wine and being promiscuous when she's the most bookish person around.

The rumors about Linnette must be wild over in Kazimierz.

I think so yeah?
But even if it isn't its not like most of the others were much better.
Edit: yep, they're the clickbaity ones.
Other interesting articles include: claiming The Nearls are blackmailing The Blood Knight and that Viviana is commiting tax fraud.

No idea of the deeper implications but I recognize a nasu reference. Mercury related Crystal valley that spreads and wants to engulf everything? Easy spot.

Its neat that LobCorp found more natural Abnormalities like the Birds and the Black Forest, even if they are dangerous enough to be locked away.
