The world is in a state of crisis.

Some argue that it is simply the way things work now, with madmen, dictators, and aliens attempting to have their way with Earth, and damn the consequences.

Others feel that the state of the world is anything but natural, but curse their powerlessness to effect change.

Still others fight to protect the Earth and humanity, whether through science, machinations, or simply by destroying those that would harm the innocent.

You are part of the last category, like it or not, and unbeknownst to you, you have a destiny to fulfill.

Fight to save the world, and you just might come out of this with a modicum of true happiness.

Prologue: A Dream of Things to Come
A/N: My first quest, after lurking without an account for several years. I was inspired to do this partially after participating in @afreaknamedpete 's thread Super Robot Wars Ø (seriously, what he has so far is awesome, check it out), seeing the prolific @Lunaryon post her own SRW quest, and also because I just love SRW and mecha anime in general. I don't expect things to go perfectly, but hey, let's see where this goes! And without further ado, a wall of text meant to evoke the CGI intros of some SRW games, like Alpha 3, Z2 and Z3.

You writhe in your sleep and dream.

In your dream, you only see the void of space.

The monotony is immediately shattered by a group of battleships, which launch dozens of mobile weapons of various sizes. Among them are mobile suits, unusual looking fighter jets, and Super Robots.

Opposite the battleships and their cadre of steel heroes are a horde of insectoid looking aliens, the smallest of them easily dwarfing even the largest battleship on the field. Some are shaped like five-pointed stars, others resemble twisted beetles. One Super Robot in particular takes exception to these aliens, drawing a massive tomahawk from its shoulder and charging forward after firing a pink beam from its head.

As if spurred on by the actions of their comrade, the other mobile weapons charge, firing rifles, missiles, beam attacks, and even rocket-propelled fists in defiance of the insectoid horde bearing down on them. One black and silver Super Robot draws the hilt of a sword, which manifests a silver blade, and cleaves a beetle-like alien in two, and then does the same to another before being mobbed by a trio of the same aliens. A Super Robot of similar design turns back, but can only trust in their comrade's ability before dodging a spinning attack from a star-shaped alien and firing a pair of beam cannons at it in retaliation.

Elsewhere on the battlefield, a pair of Super Robots stand back-to-back, surrounded by a dozen beetle aliens. Both of them have a large 'V' emblazoned on their heads, although the design similarities end there. One draws forth a pair of yo-yos and slams them into the closest beetle, the other taking the opportunity to bisect it with a sword. Both realize they are now out of position, and immediately return to a back-to-back position, still surrounded. Before the other beetle aliens can pounce, they all seem to spontaneously explode. The two Super Robots look up to see a spindly looking Super Robot above them, orbs on its arms flashing as it destroys the aliens hounding its allies with a wave of its hands.

The seemingly spontaneously generated explosions cause chaos among the aliens, and the other mobile weapons are all too happy to take advantage of this. A stark white mobile suit with glowing green highlights fires a powerful beam rifle, the shot causing a star shaped alien's flesh to bubble before exploding. A large red Super Robot with a mane of fire stabs a beetle alien through the eye, while another Super Robot with red wings, a V-shaped plate of the same shade of red on its chest and a metal grille mouth grapples with another before delivering a vicious uppercut.

At this point, a third party appears in flashes of green and white. An army of mobile weapons unlike anything else on the field begins firing beam weapons indiscriminately, torching what few insect aliens remain before descending upon the assorted mobile weapons.

One group of unknowns makes the mistake of seeing mobile suits as easy prey, and are immediately blasted apart by a group of beam drones. The drones return to a blue and white mobile suit, with the numbers '01' painted on a handheld shield. Another of the unknowns lunges at one of the odd-looking fighter jets, only for it to transform into a humanoid form, stab the unknown with a knife, and unload a Gatling gunpod into it at point blank range. A salvo of missiles directed at a mobile weapon with an unusually circular head simply go around it, detonating uselessly in the void. A smaller, pure white mobile weapon fires a pump-action shotgun into a crowd of unknowns, each impact seeming to produce a noticeable shockwave even in the vacuum of space.

A Super Robot with glowing yellow eyes, a mouth grille, and red wings fires a rocket fist at another of the unknowns, smashing it into another enemy unit before the fist returns. In the distance, a flash of lightning can be seen before a black Super Robot with orange highlights plows through dozens of the unknown enemy in a diving kick.

One particularly large unknown moves to stab the bridge of one of the battleships, only to be body slammed off the deck by a purple giant. The purple giant forgoes any use of weapons to simply brutalize the enemy with its bare hands, eventually tearing it to pieces. Another large unknown attempts to take the opportunity to stab the purple giant in the back, but another Super Robot intervenes, bisecting it with a picture perfect karate chop.

At this point, most of the unknowns have been destroyed, with the few remaining enemies in retreat. Suddenly, a green and white sphere appears, catching everyone's attention. The sphere shakes before cracking open, spilling forth a black mist. The group braces as the mist engulfs them.

You wake up.

A/N: If you can identify all the mechs in this opening sequence, I'll be impressed. Character creation to come in the next post, although I feel the need to temper expectations and set a few ground rules.

Your character will be female. This is non-negotiable, though I will let you choose an appearance from several images I'll pick and also choose a name.
Min-maxing that goes against the spirit of the quest will be vetoed.
You will not be managing an organization, I don't feel confident enough to try my hand at that. However, I will give you opportunities to decide what the protagonists are going to research, and similar choices for other things like that.
Most canon couples in their home series will get together, so no shipping wars.
Aside from that, I can't think of anything else to get out of the way, expect an exposition intro scrawl in the next post as well.

And now, I sleep.

Ohohoho~

Now what do we have here?

Normally I would love to throw some names out and make my guesses.

But I am tired and have work in the morning.

however, I did spot a Getter, Combattler V and Voltes Five.

Maybe Rayearth?

A Mazinger, and an Eva unit.

Prologue: The state of the world, Job prospects and a Look in the Mirror
The year is Universal Era (UE) 83.
Three years have passed since the Second Neo-Zeon war, and the attempted drop of Axis.
Although Amuro Ray, the hero of Axis Shock, miraculously survived, he has withdrawn from society at large. Without the ability to rely on his public support for propaganda, the Earth Federation struggles to pick up the pieces in the aftermath.
In particular, the formation of PLANT, an independent cluster of space colonies populated by genetically altered humans known as Coordinators has the politicians in a panic, with some calling Coordinators abominations against nature.
Not helping things are signs that the autonomous region of Giganos has begun militarization at an alarming rate, though nothing has come of this yet...
The Earth itself bleeds red after Second Impact more than a decade prior, although only the southern hemisphere has been dyed the color of blood, much to the bafflement of the scientific community.
The mad scientist Dr. Hell menaces the world with his mechabeast army, and will not stop until he has crushed his sworn nemesis, Photon Power Labs, underfoot to pave his way for world domination.
Horrific aliens known simply as Invaders do as they please whenever they appear, only curbed by the Saotome Institute and its flagship Super Robot Getter Robo.
Off world colonization fleets sent out by the New UN Spacey report strange signals coming from seemingly nowhere in deep space. Although many have settled down without incident, others remain on edge, and the Frontier fleet in particular has submitted disturbing reports...
Even within the Sol system, astronomers constantly report sightings of alien looking ships, and many fear another alien invasion will result in a disaster worse than Space War One.
Despite this, some look towards a better future, although the hopes of humanity may rest on a single person...

You wake up from your dream. It's more vivid than it's ever been in the year and a half since you started having them. It's also much more crowded than the last time you had it.

You shake your head to clear your thoughts and sit up in your bed. Dwelling on your dreams will do you no good, although dwelling on your past isn't much better. You were born several years before the One Year War, and one of the lucky (or perhaps unlucky) ones to have won the coin toss that was the death toll the conflict exacted. You had joined the Earth Federation Forces in a misguided attempt to do some good as soon as you came of age, only to be drafted into the Titans during the tail end of the Gryps Conflict. When you realized what had happened, you immediately defected to the AEUG at the first opportunity, and served with distinction through the end of the Gryps conflict and through a majority of the First Neo-Zeon War. Your rising star quickly burned out after the Second Neo-Zeon War, as while you had participated in the heroic effort to push back Axis, you lost your nerve even before the White Devil himself urged the others to abandon him, and the self-inflicted shame drove you to resign your post, albeit with an honorable discharge. Not helping things was a hideous breakup you went through shortly after. There's also an almost year long gap in your memory that no records can account for, although you wouldn't put it past yourself to go on an almost year long bender to cope with everything that had happened.

You slap your own cheeks to clear your head again. Enough brooding about the past, you need to address the present.

You get out of bed and go the bathroom to wash up. After you get out of the shower, you take a few seconds to reflect on yourself while looking in the mirror. You know you're objectively beautiful, you just haven't felt the need to use that beauty in a while.

What do you look like?

After finishing in the bathroom and getting dressed, you take a moment to contemplate your new job. Whatever happened during your blank year, it did no favors to your bank account, and now you're strapped for cash. As a former, highly decorated EFF soldier, there was quite a bit of demand for someone with your skills.

What job offer did you take?

[ ] Uruz 14
You've heard of Mithril before, but were never sure if they actually existed until you received an email with essentially an open offer to work for them. You'd be stationed on a submarine which you're pretty sure matches the description of what the EFF wet navy is calling the 'Toy Box'.
Starting faction: Mithril
Initial Allies: Teletha Testarossa, Melissa Mao, Kurz Weber, Sosuke Sagara, Kaname Chidori, the rest of Uruz team
Initial Enemies: Neo-Zeon remnants, Gauron, ???????
Starting Unit: Custom M9

[ ] Tactical Security Consultant
Nergal Heavy Industries has apparently built a new warship under the noses of the EFF, and they're looking to hire a security consultant for its maiden voyage. One Mr. Prospector has been mum with details so far, but assures you that you'll receive full disclosure if you take the job, otherwise, you'd be wise to adhere to the terms of the NDA they made you sign before you opened the job offer. They don't expect you to fight personally, but are willing to take an extra mech on board just in case.
Starting faction: Nergal Heavy Industries
Initial Allies: Yurika Misumaru and command staff, Akito Tenkawa, Mr. Prospector
Initial Enemies: ?????? ???????
Starting Unit: Rezel Custom

[ ] Specials pilot
Apparently a new task force is being formed that aims to solve many of the world's problems at once. You're not sure how the hell a newly formed task force is going to accomplish something as vague as that, but given the people involved, it's certainly going to do something big. At the very least, joining the Organization of Zodiac will relieve your boredom if nothing else.
Starting faction: OZ
Initial Allies: Trieze Khushrenada, Lady Une, Zechs Merquise, Lucrezia Noin, Dorothy Catalonia, the Romefeller Foundation, Relena Darlian
Initial Enemies: Neo-Zeon remnants, ???? ??????????
Starting Unit: Custom Leo, Stark Jegan, or any non-psychomachine Gundam circa UC 0095 (we can sort this out if this option is decided on)

[ ] The fifth Gundam Meister
One day you received a package containing nothing but a tablet with the password taped to the front. You unlocked it to find a message from one Aeolia Schenberg imploring you to help unite mankind and end war amongst itself in the Earth Sphere. Also on the tablet was an offer from a woman who calls herself Sumeragi Lee Noriega to join an organization calling itself Celestial Being as a Gundam Meister. You realize that Sumeragi has an uncanny resemblance to an EFSF officer you once served under, but for the life of you you can't remember her name. Accepting this offer requires you to go to a specific set of coordinates in deep space.
Starting faction: Celestial Being
Initial Allies: Sumeragi Lee Noriega, Setsuna F. Seiei, Allelujah Haptism, Lockon Stratos, Tieria Erde, crew of the Ptolemios, Fereshte, ??? ??????
Initial Enemies: Neo-Zeon remnants, EFF radicals, ???? ????
Starting Unit: any Gundam from Gundam 00 sidestories, provided they take place before season 1 ep 1 of 00. It will be equipped with a Tau drive, and all the limitations that come with it (if this option is chosen, we can sort it out then)

As you review your signature on the acceptance form, you grimace as you remember the epithet you acquired for yourself during your military service. You hope your new coworkers won't use or refer to it, although you highly doubt that will be the case.

What is your name?
[ ] Name: Mira Ayana (default)
What is your military epithet?
[ ] Cool sounding epithet: The Platinum Djinn (default)

A/N: The obligatory intro scrawl, and options for character creation! Don't fuss over the outfits each appearance choice has in the pictures, you'll either be wearing your faction's uniform or your pilot suit most of the time.
As for which faction to start with, don't worry too much, this is just to determine where things start because full disclosure, I don't have everything planned out yet, and I'm not very good at setting things up right from the start, so this is to force me to make a good intro.
Anyway, go nuts with the discussion! And if you can guess any or all of the question marked allies and enemies I'll be impressed, especially since the ones for two of them are very non-obvious.
Also, sorry for the non-standard spoiler cover ups for image choices, I don't know how to do the thing everyone else does.

OZ Route is a go.

Timeline of the Universal Era
UE -150: The Holy Britannian Empire collapses after all conquered areas rise up in simultaneous rebellion, supported behind the scenes by the Chinese Federation and EU. The Royal Family flees to Euro Britannia and establishes the Kingdom of Neo-Britannia, while the United States of America is founded in its former territory in North America, based on the principles espoused during Washington's Rebellion.
UE -85: Alien Star Ship 1 is discovered. Research into OverTechnology commences.
UE -80 through UE -77: An anti UN faction declares war against the UN Spacey, and wages war against it on a global scale.
UE -76: The final battle of the UN war takes place on Mayan Island. Although the island's civilian population is evacuated successfully, most of the island is destroyed following the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in response to a previously undiscovered alien entity dubbed the 'bird human'.
UE -75: Space War One occurs. The rebuilt ASS-1, now dubbed the SDF-1 Macross, leads the defense of the Earth against the Gol Bodolza fleet. It is only through the songs of Lynn Minmay that Earth is saved, as the 7018 Zentraedi fleet, led by one Breetai Kridanik, defect after rediscovering culture due to Minmay's songs. This leads to the main fleet fracturing, and many more defections to the side of the UN Spacey. However, even with close to 30% of the main fleet defecting, and another 15% not participating in the final battle around Earth, an orbital bombardment by part of the Bodolza fleet still manages to kill around 2.5 billion people around the globe before Gol Bodolza himself is killed, ending the war.
UE -74 through UE -40: Efforts to rebuild commence, and the UN Spacey shifts its focus from governance of Earth to overseeing off world colonization efforts during this time period, reducing its overall influence on Earth Sphere politics.
UE -35: Construction on the first space colonies is finished.
UE -1: The nations of the world band together to form the Earth Federation. After some debate over whether the new calendar will be called the Universal Century or the Cosmic Era, a compromise is reached to call it the Universal Era.
UE 1: The inauguration of the Universal Era debuts with the assassination of Prime Minister Marcenas and the destruction of Laplace Colony, resulting in the loss of the Universal Century Era Charter.
UE 20: George Glenn, athlete, astrophysicist, engineer, and one of the most celebrated individuals of the Universal Era up to that point, reveals his status as a genetically bioengineered human dubbed a Coordinator. He is assassinated by extremists shortly after this, and the technology to create Coordinators is relegated to the black market after being seemingly lost in a struggle between genetics, bioengineering, and pharmaceutical companies over attempts to gain a monopoly on the technology.
UE 40: Relationships between the space colonies and Earth Federation begin to deteriorate, with the Colonies citing poor economic conditions that the Federation seems to ignore in favor of squeezing as much monetary value as it can out of them.
UE 55: The Minovsky particle is discovered. This revolutionizes physics and upends all known paradigms of warfare.
UE 60: Colonization of Mars begins. Hopes are not high, as a previous attempt in the pre UE era failed, and the only advancement in terraforming made since then is an experimental nanomachine with notoriously unpredictable results.
UE 68: Second Impact occurs. The oceans of the Southern Hemisphere turn blood red, though the waters of the Northern Hemisphere are unaffected. The Sanc Kingdom, which was being illegally invaded by Earth Federation war hawks at the time, collapses even as the invasion turns into an impromptu rescue effort. The entire royal family is presumed dead.
UE 71: The Principality of Zeon is formed.
UE 73: The One Year War occurs. It is the most devastating conflict Earth has seen up to this point, only matched by Space War One in the pre UE era. Half of Earth's population is killed in the ensuing conflict, most of the civilian deaths a result of collateral damage from Operation British, Zeon's failed attempt to drop a space colony on Earth Federation Headquarters in Jaburo.
UE 74: Charles Vi Britannia embeds himself and by proxy the Royal Britannian family in the Earth Federation Senate as head of the new majority party, Neo-Hope, a coalition consisting of Blue Cosmos, the Romefeller Foundation, and the governments of many nations on Earth with extremely nationalist ideologies. The New UN Spacey protests, as this gives Neo-Britannia effectively uncontested control over the Federation's political agenda, but the only member that supports this protest on record is the Orb Union.
UE 75: Operation Stardust is carried out by Zeon remnants and succeeds, causing a mass famine on Earth. The Titans are formed in response.
UE 77: The Gryps conflict occurs. The Titans collapse after they are forcefully disbanded.
UE 79: The first Neo-Zeon War occurs and ends inconclusively when Haman Karn is declared missing in action. What is left of the AEUG is incorparated into the EFF, and later Londo Bell when it is formed.
UE 80: The second Neo-Zeon War occurs, with Char Aznable attempting to drop the space colony Axis on Earth. Amuro Ray manages to stop the colony drop through a miracle that comes to be called the Axis Shock, and miraculously survives. Char Aznable is taken prisoner, although he goes missing shortly after Amuro Ray publicly distances himself from the Federation.
UE 81: Photon Power Labs, The Saotome Institute, and the Exotic Magnetism Research Initiative are founded. Two of the Initiative's biggest think tanks go independent, forming the Nanbara Connection and Big Falcon, while a scandal involving embezzlement of enough funds to form a third such group leads to the Initiative being disbanded. The embezzled funds are never recovered, though coincidentally a large sum of money equal to the amount embezzled is paid to Japanese construction firms that operate along the coast of the island nation.

I hate to sound negative or attention grabbing, but if you're watching this quest, then please vote or at least post discussion. I know I'm a virtual unknown to the SV community at large, and that this quest is very new, but the lack of attention this quest is getting is still disheartening. Is it considered bad form to plug your own quest in someone else's quest? I can't think of any other way to give this quest exposure.

I cant say that it is, but I also cant say that it isnt. That being said I have a habit of not pushing content until after I've seen it develop for a while and have absolute confidence in it. Don't feel too frustrated though, because that's true of literally everyone trying stuff for the first time.

All you can do is keep working at it and hope for the best however you can.

I like this one the most

[X] The fifth Gundam Meister

I want to do some interventions it sounds fun. Also I imagine being a fifth Meister will have a lot of shenanigans in character interactions. Also kind of curious about seeing how CB would even attempt to bring peace through force in a SRW setting since I know SRW V had Setsuna and Kira fight in the background of their story so seeing more of that would be cool. Like intervening in the Wing plot when Trieze theatens the colonies to make the gundams retreat/self destruct or being in position to have to deal with Lelouch launching a Black Rebellion to take advantage of CB with the headaches that will cause.

Don't really have an opinion on the name or title

Edit: Actually I came up with a title that I think would be fun to have

[X] Cool sounding eptithet: The Idol Ace

Idol Ace aka an Ace who is an idol. Now you might be going that sounds stupid and yeah it kind of is but this is a Macross setting so you have to accept idols hold great power even without song magic bullshit. And the main reason why I suggest this as our epithet (which I now just realized that was mispelt on the vote option lol) is that I thought of why specifically our character would be recruited for Celestial Being. That train of thought lead me to think about the goal behind CB that being preparing mankind of contact with aliens and how Aeolia might legit had been alive during Space War 1 in this setting and how that would had impacted CB compared to canon. And my answer after thinking about it? Is that after Lynn Minmay showed the power of singing and culture for interacting with alien races that Aeolia would obviously had altered his plans from canon to factor in this potent tool of communication and while Setsuna is apparently the best candidate for Innovation I doubt he can hold a note for the life of him. So enter us a free ace pilot that has some interest in singing enough for it to become her title.

Might be going a bit too far with head canons for this but I like the idea of it all the same.

Ok, I'm somewhat disappointed, there's 15 watchers for this thread, and only 6 votes, one of which isn't even complete. I'm going to wait until tomorrow night, and if no one else has voted then, I'm going to roll d6 to resolve the tiebreaker for the starting faction. The vote is clearly leaning toward using the look of MG5 from Girls' Frontline, so I'll respect that choice unless there's a sudden shift in vote choice. Since veekie hasn't specified anything in his vote aside from starting faction, I reserve the right as QM to use what would have been his vote for appearance as my own to play devil's advocate, and for name and epithet I'll use those as votes for default choices unless he changes his post to include votes for those as well.

Ok, I'm calling it early since no one else has bothered to vote, and there have been no new readers for the last day.

Turn 0: Meeting New Faces and settling in
March UE 0083
Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture
Nergal Heavy Industries drydock facility

You draw your jacket tighter around yourself to ward off the chill. You were unable to fly to Sasebo directly, the closest you could get by commercial airline was Nagasaki Airport. After that, Nergal had booked a Green Carriage for you on the fastest train that was available. You had stayed a night in Tokyo first in an attempt to ward off any potential jet lag, but that had turned out to be a mistake, and given that Sasebo was only 33 km away from Nagasaki, you had fallen asleep on the train and nearly missed your stop. Even now you're struggling to stay awake, the only thing preventing you from nodding off again a news program you've brought up on your phone.

"A group calling themselves Celestial Being has claimed responsibility for the attack that occurred during the demonstration of the Enact, a new mobile suit developed by a subsidiary of Anaheim Electronics."

Your eyes glaze over as the news cuts to low quality footage of the 'battle' that occurred, with Celestial Being's mobile suit, a blue and white Gundam of some kind, hacking off the Enact's right arm, not with a beam saber, but a massive solid blade.

In a more clear state of mind, you would have noticed that the Gundam in question doesn't appear to run on a Minovsky Drive, and in fact there are no visible thrusters. As it is, you only note that unlike the Enact's blade, the Gundam's sword doesn't appear to be a vibration weapon.

You're brought out of your fugue when a secretary walks up to you.

"Apologies for making you wait outside, frauelein Ayana, Mr. Prospector will see you now."

You raise your eyebrows at the use of German, but follow her inside.

Mr. Prospector looks just the same as the last time you saw him over the video conference. Orange yellow rectangular glasses, a dress shirt with purple tie, an orange vest over all of that, and a haircut you swear was considered outdated even during its heyday in the 1980s of the pre-UE era. You're not surprised to see him typing something into a calculator.

"Ah, frauelein Ayana! A pleasure to finally meet you in person." He gets up and eagerly shakes your hand.
"The pleasure is mine, Mr. Prospector." You see no reason not to reciprocate.
"I apologize for bringing you in so suddenly once you accepted, but we've been forced to move things forward more quickly than we'd like." Mr. Prospector adjusts his glasses.
"And what reason would that be?" You ask with a raised eyebrow.
"We believe that the Federation has found out about the existence of the warship Nadesico." He replied.
"And you're afraid that they'll move to seize it?" You ask.
"Precisely. The reason that we built the Nadesico in the first place was because our company offices on Mars expressed concern about the lack of security there. We petitioned the EFF to station a larger garrison there, or at least send a patrol fleet periodically, but all our requests have either been denied or outright ignored. So, the board of directors decided to take matters into their own hands." Mr. Prospector explained.
"Okay, but how do I figure into this?" You cross your arms.
"We've already found a willing crew for the ship. However, although highly competent, the command crew is somewhat...eclectic. The company president himself demanded that I find someone who could balance out the...eccentricities of the bridge crew."

It takes a few seconds for the implications to sink in.
"You want me to babysit the bridge crew of your warship?" You say in half-disbelief.
"Ah, I think you misunderstand, the bridge crew is projected to perform extraordinarily well under combat conditions. It's the potential for what occurs outside of combat that has everyone worried. We believe that having The Silver Bulwark in their midst ought to ground them somewhat."

You flinch.
"Please don't call me that." You don't quite growl the words out, but Mr. Prospector can clearly tell he's struck a nerve.
"My apologies, Miss Ayana." He bows in the manner of a traditional Japanese apology. "Why don't you get some rest? The captain of the ship is arriving tomorrow, along with most of the other bridge crew. There is also another matter that you wished to discuss that I feel can wait until then."
"Thanks, don't mind if I do then."

Your sleep is thankfully dreamless that night. You wake up the next day and feel like you've shaken off the worst of the jet lag. After having breakfast, you meet with Seiya Uribitake, the chief mechanic of the Nadesico. He takes great pride in showing you the ReZel that Nergal procured on your behalf, and he's customized it to your specifications.

What extras did you request? (Pick ONE)

[ ] A megaparticle cannon
It took some doing, but Uribitake has managed to cram a hand-held megaparticle cannon onto the structure of the ReZel, and he assures you that you'll be able to transform into Waverider mode without having to dump the weapon.

[ ] A Defenser b-Unit
An add-on usually reserved for the ReZel command type, the Defenser b pack has additional boosters and beam cannons optimized for mid to long range combat. Uribitake reminds you, however, that the Defenser b pack was originally designed for use in space, and deploying with it in atmosphere might gimp your mobility if you forget to take it off.

[ ] Full armor, Thunderbolt Sector style
Taking a cue from the renowned Io Fleming, you decided to bolt on as much armor and extra missile launchers as you could manage without causing the ReZel to collapse under its own weight, in addition to the thrusters required to actually move with so much additional mass. Uribitake warns you that if you deploy with the Full Armor pack, you won't be able to use Waverider mode unless you dump ALL of the extra armor.

You look over the ReZel custom with a satisfied nod, and Uribitake flashes you a thumbs up in return. You'll forgive the man his obsession with scale models and collectable figurines, as his raw skill more than makes up for his eccentricities.

It's time for your meeting with Mr. Prospector about the matter you wanted to discuss with him yesterday. You had agreed to join, but with a stipulation: Nergal would have to help you figure out what happened to you in your blank year. Mr. Prospector meets you in a room that he assures you has no listening or recording devices, and for good measure activates a white noise generator once you've closed the door. He clears his throat before opening a briefcase filled with sealed documents.

Mr. Prospector investigates your blank year-DC 10
1d10 + 5 (professional accountant) + 2 (Nergal PIs) + 3 (free access to your bank statements and credit card records) - 2 (investigating circumstances that are not recent)
Roll 3 + 5 + 2 + 3 -2 = 11
BARE SUCCESS

"I apologize, but even with the substantial resources of Nergal Heavy Industries, I'm afraid our investigation into what happened to you during your blank year was...less than enlightening." He hands you the first sealed document. It's a copy of all of your bank statements from your blank year.

"We started with your bank statements. We had hoped to find transactions that we could trace to specific locations, but aside from tax payments, the only transactions that occurred during the blank year were cash withdrawals. Your credit cards were entirely unused." He hands you another document. It's a passenger list for an ocean liner called The Blue Danube. Your name is highlighted as an occupant of an economy class cabin. The travel plan states that the ship was to depart from Juneau, Alaska to Okinawa. The departure date is listed as February 7, over a month after your blank year started. The last you remember, in December of the previous year, you were still living in Oberndorf, Germany.

"Our private investigators interviewed the crew of the ship, and they told us that you stayed in your cabin for most of the voyage, only leaving to eat in the canteen. They didn't really notice anything about the way you behaved, other than the fact that you avoided interacting with the other passengers and crew unless it was physically or socially unavoidable."

"Was I with anyone?" You ask with a raised eyebrow.

"According to the manifest and the crew, you were the only one in that cabin for the entire voyage. Unfortunately, the trail goes cold from there. We were able to trace the location of some of the cash withdrawals, but the ATM camera footage has long since been deleted. The locations themselves aren't much help, they're all over the globe, and based on the dates, we have a rough idea of what your path was, but there's so much time in between most of the withdrawals that you could have gone anywhere in between them." He hands you a map with several lines drawn across it.

The map is revealing, but less than you hoped it would be. Oberndorf, Germany is obviously marked as the starting point. Switzerland is your first stop, followed by Algeria, and then Toronto, Canada. From there, your forgotten journey takes you on a roundabout path south, going to New York city, Chicago, St. Louis, and Atlanta, before jumping to Mexico city, and then Juneau, Alaska. The route the Blue Danube took to get to Okinawa is traced across the Pacific, and after you arrive in Okinawa you suddenly find yourself in Indonesia, apparently. You jump from there to Shanghai, then the Philippines, then back to mainland China in Nanjing, taking a detour to Macau, and then going back across Asia to Moscow before seeming to warp to Cape Town in South Africa. The longest gap between cash withdrawals occurs, which you assume you spent traipsing about Africa, as your next cash withdrawal occurs in Ethiopia. From there you somehow get to Cairo, and your journey apparently ends in Greece, specifically Athens, as that is where your last cash withdrawal took place. You have no idea how you got back to Germany, as your first coherent memory after the blank year is waking up naked in a hideously expensive hotel in Berlin.

"Again, I apologize on behalf of Nergal for not being able to piece together more." Mr. Prospector says apologetically.

"It's not a problem, I wasn't expecting all the answers from the start anyway." You say.

"If you wish, I can make an excuse for you not to meet the bridge crew of the Nadesico." He says.

"No, it's fine, I can look over the rest on my own time. Besides, if Uribitake is any indication, you might have exaggerated the crew's...quirks." You smile. It quickly fades when Mr. Prospector winces.

A few hours later after lunch, you quickly realize that meeting Uribitake skewed your expectations too low.

"Hi! I'm Yurika Misumaru! I didn't actually believe it when Prospector told me he'd hired The Silver Bulwark as our security consultant! V!" Yurika Misumaru flashes a v for victory sign with her left hand. You already feel a headache forming.

"Please don't call me that. I look forward to working with you, Captain Misumaru." You hesitatingly hold out your hand. Yurika shakes it perhaps a bit too enthusiastically. You turn to the white haired child beside her.

"Ruri Hoshino. Pleased to meet you, Miss Ayana. It's good to see that there's going to be at least one other person on this crew who's not an idiot." You don't know whether to laugh or panic at that declaration. At this point, Yurika is gushing about how the long lost love of her life, one Akito Tenkawa, was delivered to her by 'destiny' the previous night in a chance encounter. You are pretty sure, no, absolutely sure that she's exaggerating, if not misinterpreting what happened that night. You quickly learn to tune her out.

"Is she always like this?" You ask Ruri in a whisper.

"Whenever she talks about Akito Tenkawa? Yes, unfortunately so." Ruri responds in a deadpan tone. You're starting to hope you don't regret taking this job. In search of a source of relative sanity, you cast your eyes about the room.

Who do you decide to talk to?

[ ] There's a tall woman with long brown hair, brown eyes, an orange uniform, pink earrings, and an undershirt that she's parted to reveal quite a bit of cleavage. The description matches the one you were given of Minato Haruka, the helmsman of the Nadesico.

[ ] A woman with purple hair done in a braided ponytail and orange uniform is chatting animatedly with a man that has short cut black hair and is wearing a white uniform similar to that of Yurika's. Based on the descriptions you were given, they are Megumi Reinard, the communications officer, and Jun Aoi, the XO of the ship.

[ ] A man with killer sideburns has done his hair up in a way that reminds you of an obscure anime that you watched on a whim a few years ago. As he's wearing some kind of pilot suit, you assume he must be Jiro Yamada, one of the designated Aestivalis pilots.

A/N: And here's the start of the first turn! I hope I kept everyone in character, constructive criticism is welcome! No plan voting please, but do vote for every item in a single post. I welcome discussion, debate and speculation! The next threadmark will be the combat tutorial, so look forward to that!
